Mom works in the front waiting tables, and Pop cooks for you in the kitchen! The staff is super friendly, and the food is worth going back for. Not huge, but made very well. They have not gotten "Too big for the britches" even with their regular customers. They treat all like family came by for breakfast. Give it a try........if you can find a seat!!

This restaurant was pretty tasty! The meals were good sized portions at a very reasonable price. Service was great and they have a friendly staff. We will return!

The Dinner Bell has wonderful, fresh breakfasts. I especially like eating there on m-th when the line cook, Dean Moore is cooking. The eggs turn out perfectly. The prices are little high for breakfast but the coffee makes up for it. The ambience is just right for lunch and breakfast. A nice crowd.

Incredible food and service. I place I won't soon forget, lots of great history here.

It was a perfect Saturday afternoon and we wanted some breakfast in an outdoor space. To get to the "patio" you have to wrap around the side of the main building. There we found a enclosed room with huge windows but still technically inside. They have a few true outside patio tables but they were taken. Oh well, huge windows with a view worked. Service was a bit hectic and slow but the food was good overall. Wouldn't say we were amazed but it was quaint and a nice meal.

I have lived in Prescott for over 25 years. The Dinner Bell has always been here. It is historic. When you walk in, it feels like you have gone back in time. The decor, furniture, and even the menu feel like something from the 50's. That isn't bad. I kind of enjoyed sitting at the bar/counter.. It's different than most modern restaurants.. More like a 50's diner. I looked at the many old photos of the Dinner Bell that adorned the walls while I waited for my breakfast. I ordered an omelette with hash browns and toast. All of the food was good... exactly as I would imagine it would have been 60 years ago. I enjoyed my recent experience... Good food, good service, and a unique atmosphere. Give them a try if you want to escape the modern day feel of most restaurants, and want to get away from the future.

I'm visiting Prescott for the next few days and oh my, is there a wealth of delicious food to eat. One such place my family told me I had to try was The Dinner Bell Cafe. My sister and I decided to eat breakfast there today before we went sight seeing. The atmosphere was pleasant and the restaurant staff was friendly. We sat ourselves and the waitress came right over with coffee, water and menus. I ordered a peppered new york strip steak (medium well-lt's important to note here how I requested it be cooked) two over medium eggs and country potatoes. My sister had a denver omelet and hash browns. The wait time was average and refills kept coming which I love. Finally, food came and for my sister it was great she throughly enjoyed her omelet and hash browns she used the word "delicious." Mine on the other hand, was a RAW mess. My steak, which if you remember I asked for medium well, was raw. It was mushy and when I cut I into it, it wasn't even a little under cooked there was raw fat in it. I was so disappointed and the waitress came over and I sent it back. Any reasonable person would assume the steak would either be corrected (and it could have been at that point) or a new steak would be cooked. I decided to eat my eggs and potatoes, I sliced into my eggs and the whites were so runny they hung off my fork. Another item on my plate was waaay undercooked. At this point I was pretty upset and that's about the time my steak came back. Well, it wasn't brought up to the proper temperature. I was served the same piece of meat burnt to a crisp. This was beyond well done and frankly, I was insulted as a customer that it was sent out to me. I told the waitress I would be taking the check and leaving. To her credit she took the entire plate off the order and we paid for my sisters meal and left. I wouldn't recommend this place and me, my family and friends won't be back.

Great as usual! This place has a long history for my family. It will always be a staple when visiting Prescott. Great for breakfast or lunch. I love their ham and eggs. Their biscuits are amazing. Plain or with gravy, don't pass them up! You can sit at the counter or grab a booth. This place feels like your family's kitchen.

Gone here for several years for their eggs benidect however this last weekend will be my last. Like so many other restaurants they changed their recipes. Now the hollandaise sauce instead of being a nice yellow color looks like baby diarrhea ( very unappetizing to look at) The biscuits and gravy that once was the size of your head is now a shell of itself, very small. Shame on you Dinner Bell. Bring back the old or you have lost a long time customer

  • Christine F.

Friendly staff that clearly worked as a team! Awesome food! View of a beautiful creek, right next to the restaurant. We didn't sit on the patio (too cold) but it is available. Great place, highly recommended!

A gem if you are looking for plain good food. This is totally non-frills. I had pork chops, salad, veggies, and cottage cheese for $10, and it all decent if plain. There was a large group of young people having lunch, and I was impressed that all their dishes came out at the same time. Even more impressive was that I and other walk-ins were taken care of in a timely manner. If you're looking for inexpensive and simple, this is your place.

I have been an on-going Dinner Bell customer for nearly 20 years. The coffee and atmosphere have always been outstanding, especially sitting the back area of the restaurant. So I made a visit this past Sunday for breakfast. Right away I could tell the coffee was different; strong, dark and bitter. This is not the same coffee served in the past. Looking around it was obvious this place needed a good cleaning. Spider webs were seen on a light fixture by the door. The screens near the tables facing Granite Creek were filthy and filled with fuzzy things from the trees. The bathrooms were in need of cleaning, and the front part of the restaurant smelled of sewer. To the Dinner Bell owners, please clean up, make your restaurant look sanitary, and do go back to serving the coffee of years past. It appeared you now serve Kirkland brand. This is not a quality coffee. As for the food, it was fairly good but the country potatoes were greasy.

What a great find! This place is within walking distance to downtown, has breakfast till 2pm and the staff is very friendly. I had the Pancakes and added bananas and Pecans. Oh my! Yummy. My wife got the Machaca and thought it was very tasty. Prices were also very reasonable.

This place has a great breakfast menu. My Spanish omelette was so good I could have eaten 6 of them.

    (5)
  • Catie M.

Average. Pretty pricey considering portion sizes. 1 egg, 1 slice of French toast, 2 bacon, coffee... $10. Quite a Mark up. Could have done some a la carte, but a single egg was $2, and bacon $4.75, etc. It's quaint, but tomorrow morning I'll try something different.

My husband told me to post a review and tell everyone he gives it 5 stars. Just plain good old fashioned breakfast, beautifully prepared. Our waitress gave us the perfect amount of attention. Small town diner at its best

  • Harry E.

You can get fast and friendly service along with some pretty decent food here. They even served us a couple minutes before closing time. Meals are affordably priced too. Atmosphere is homey and inviting.

this was a clean out of the way place that I never would have found on my own. We were traveling with friends that have a condo in the area and they suggested it. The area in downtown Prescott was very beautiful but you might never walk into this restaurant if you didn't know how good the food was. I ordered the beef chimichanga and others in our party had the steak poblano and enchilada taco combination. Everything was very good. it took a little while to get the checks split properly but that was no big deal. Overall I recommend this restaurant the food was very good including the chips and salsa.

  • Ahmed E.

Very good. Had the Divorciado omelette. It was spicier then expected but that's ok because I love spicy! It's a quiet place, but I was there for breakfast around 8 so it may get busier. Place is small and cozy. Friendly staff, quick to get food out.

  • David K.

This was a bit of a hole in the wall as most places are downtown Prescott. Went for lunch but ordered off the all day breakfast menu. We had the cinnamon French toast with egg and bacon. That was excellent. Café was mostly older people and regulars which is not all bad. Not a fancy place but a good, comfortable place to eat.

Fantastic pesto omelette... Topped with pine nuts!! The counter is clean, the water does not have a chlorinated flavor, Hash browns are crispy and the service is great! Locals eat here...

  • Kellie B.

Great food! Service was fast & friendly enough. Kinda got the feeling a few of the waitresses had been there for 30 yrs... Your typical diner style café: packed, kinda warm, kinda loud and amazing food! Go here if you are looking for some great diner breakfast. I would definitely stop here again!

    (4)
  • Whitney G.

Saw that this place had some pretty good reviews, so my husband and I stopped by as we passed through town. The staff were somewhat friendly, the service was very fast, and the food was good but average. The reason for my rating was due to the fact that I found hair in my hash browns...twice! The 1st time - I let the waitress know about it and asked for another order of hash browns, she was kind about it and they came out really quick. Then halfway through my second order, I found another hair. At that point I gave up. The waitress was never apologetic and I didn't even bother to tell her about the second hair.

Loved this breakfast joint. Sat at the counter and split an omelet. The build your own was Delish. I'm a sucker for Formica counters, add friendly staff and whalla... We'll be back.

  • Beth B.

We loved it here! First time visit from the valley in town for the bike race. I got the southwest omelet with their country potatoes and it was yummy!! They also have the option of making your own omelet and I love that. Hubby got the blueberry waffles and they were great. Service was very good and the place has a friendly small town homey feel where everybody knows your name . We will definately be back!

  • James C.

We couldn't of found a better place to eat breakfast!! The front dining area was full, so the waitress had us go around back to a second dining area. I had the Chorizo scramble and the wife had biscuits and gravy. Both Were superb!! Felt like it was Moms, home cooked breakfast!! The price was very reasonable and had great service. The food was so great, we went back the next day and will be going back the next time we are in town!!

Hands down best breakfast potatoes I've ever eaten! Walking to the back of the building to get to the café, I was a little concerned... if you go there you'll see why. Once we walked in, the café was small but very clean and welcoming. We ordered a granola and banana waffle, side of country potatoes and side of eggs. The waffle was tasty, but they really skimped on the granola, there was no crunch whatsoever. The country potatoes were amazing, perfectly seasoned with bell peppers and onions. I could have just ordered those and been a happy woman! Overall the rest of the meal was a 3, but the service was spot on, so I can't possibly give the café with the best breakfast potatoes a 3, so 4 stars it is! Oh, and I previous reviews said cash only. They now accept Credit Cards

    (4)
  • Rick S.

Two major issues I had with my last review have since been resolved: they now accept credit cards, and they have a soda fountain! Service is outstanding as it has always been, and the food is tremendous. Large portions, expertly prepared, and seasoned perfectly. I can't recommend their omelets enough, they are excellent. As the weather warms up, I strongly recommend trying to get a table on the back side of the restaurant; having a nice view of Granite Creek is a nice addition to the dining experience.

What a surprise. They were busy with renovations in the front and we were ushered around the back. At first I thought this was going to be one of those meals but wow. I opted for the 2 eggs Toast and Bacon accompanied by potato wedges. The eggs were done to perfection, the bacon was tasty and the potato wedges the best. They were soft inside with a pleasant crisp on the outside. The coffee was really very very good. My wife had the omelette and she raved about it being very tasty. The only negative point here I would mention are the prices. There breakfasts are expensive but the food makes up for that and we will definitely return. The biggest plus was that the bacon and the potato wedges were not drenched in oil and I was most delighted about that. Worth a place to try out for breakfast.

  • Patty H.

What a cool little place! Don't freak out if you show up for breakfast and there's a line (there usually is from what I've seen); try to sit on the back porch. YUM! Service was good too, though I hate measly little coffee cups, but that's just me. The apple smoked bacon was delish, and make sure you get the country potatoes instead of the hashed browns. My friend got the asparagus and tarragon omlette and raved about it. Two others at the table got the chicken fried steak and it looked awesome. And YES, they accept credit cards now... BTW, you can follow the path along the creek to the Gato Azul for more awesome food.

  • Chicky B.

You want diner? You got diner! Such a great old time diner feel with the requisite diner fare. They are all very good. Your morning will not go wrong after being greeted by the waitress here.

    (3)
  • Mike T.

The country potatoes were good and the biscuits were huge but the waitress was awful at best. When told that onions were in an omelet when ordered without she did not say anything, not sorry or anything. I would try someplace else next time

  • Bob H.

This will really take you back to the days of the diner when there was great comfort food at reasonable prices. This place is super for breakfast. But, it is usually packed so be ready if there is a wait. Also, they only take cash.

Review for breakfast: The Dinner Bell Cafe tries to be better than the standard diner. You really want it to succeed, and sometimes it does, such as by making fresh sausage patties and frying them crispy, and with a better than average corned beef hash, and with a very good homemade salsa having just a bit of string. But then too often it falls below the mark, such as with lukewarm coffee and rubbery scrambled eggs. The ambiance, too, is very basic, and the seats in the boothes are too low (or you could say the tables are too high). If you are going to an event in the Sharlot Hall museum, it is conveniently right next door, but it is small and will be crowded if the event is a popular one. I guess I would say that if you are passing by, give it a try -- you might hit some of the particularly good items. I think I will come back for lunch someday.

We love eating at the Dinner Bell. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, the food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Highly recommended! My favorites include the Reuben, Cobb salad, Dinner Bell special sandwich, omelets - the list goes on! I'm getting hungry just writing this review! Get down there now!

Loved this little diner, reminds you of an old authentic diner food & atmosphere are great. Fast & friendly service! Recommend if you want a good breakfast while visiting whiskey row!

DELICIOUS BREAKFAST, once again! Green Juevos Rancheros. It was large enough for us to split, but we didn't :-D They serve strong, dark coffeee, thank you! Love the back room decor and even the plank walk along the river to get to it. Feels TOTALLY different than the front room old-school diner atmosphere. Friendly service.

Sometimes a small menu can be executed perfectly whether its a bistro or a diner. Don't miss the country potatoes or the salsa. Include a stroll along the creek trail for a perfect morning.

My review of this cafe is short and sweet. It is unpretentious, unassuming, and doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. Yes, no credit cards. How many reviews for this place have mentioned it? I'm not sure why this is such an apocalyptic event, especially when they have an ATM inside the restaurant. I had the Dinner Bell Sandwich which was a large, fresh French roll with piles of roast beef, gooey melted cheese, and grilled mushrooms and peppers. The beef was lean and tasty. The sandwich came with a good helping of fries, again basic. My dining companion had the tuna melt and enjoyed it. The service from our waitress was attentive and genuine. I gave the place 4 stars, because yes, I'm a fan. It is a perfect stop for a no-frills, diner style breakfast or lunch. And now, to address Happy C.'s review. I normally don't refer to another review, but with the ridiculousness of that review, I wasn't able to refrain. Happy seems to initially be obsessed with the no credit card thing, to the point of encouraging the restaurant to increase their prices in order to cover the processing fees. One sentence later, a complaint is lodged about the current prices being too high. Regardless of this bit of schizophrenia, a) the prices are completely reasonable. I have a picture or our check posted on here. I can't see that it is in any way not an appropriate price for two large lunch sandwiches, fries and drinks. b) if a no credit cards policy is working for The Dinner Bell (and it obviously is, since as the sign says they have been open since 1939) why change it? You say you "knew this going in" and were "prepared", so what's the problem? "No one was overwhelmed with their food". Since when was a diner breakfast supposed to be overwhelming? And by the way, what did you eat that was underwhelming? Or did you even eat there at all? Methinks that you possibly work at The Lone Spur. And finally, the apparent carnivorous plant that kept "creeping over onto the table". Obviously The Dinner Bell has missed a huge marketing opportunity if they have Little Shop of Horrors type plants that move on their own and try to sneak their way across your table and steal your food. In all the Yelp reviews I've read for restaurants, this has to be the funniest/most ridiculous statement I've ever seen. I investigated said plant, and can attest that I didn't see it move or "creep" during my dining experience. I even placed my finger on one of the leaves, and must confess I broke out into a cold sweat, wondering if my finger would be devoured by the monster houseplant, that was probably hopping mad since it "was too large (and not kept up) ", but it must have been full after possibly dining on some leftovers from the previous table as they, no doubt, were in a panicked frenzy over at the ATM machine getting money out since they hadn't seen the 3-4 signs located around the cafe stating they don't take credit cards. So the best way for me to describe The Dinner Bell is "basic". And sometimes basic is just fine. Oh, and they don't take credit cards.

  • Amber G.

This place is super cute and has excellent customer service. As far as the food that I had, not good. My husband and I went for breakfast, he had a basic 2 egg breakfast w/hash browns, toast, and sausage. I had the chicken fried steak & eggs. We both ordered our eggs over medium and they were way overcooked, my chicken fried steak tasted like Denny's version exactly, and that my friends is gross. My husband said his sausage tasted "off" and both of us had burnt toast. There does seem to be a lot of locals that come here, so maybe the food I had was an exception, or maybe the come back for the service??? NOTE: They are only open for breakfast & lunch, they close at 3pm. This place is CASH ONLY, ATM is available inside : )

If you are nostalgic for a small town diner feel from back in the 80"s, this is the place to come. As soon as you walk in, you feel comfortable. The menu is unpretentious and full of comfort food like open face turkey sandwich with brown gravy. I had lunch here with my 5 year old~ we got there at 2:30pm (the place closes at 3pm) so I was a little hesitant to stay knowing the waitress prob had already started cleaning up, looking forward to her shift being over. Nonetheless, the waitress was real friendly and welcomed us to stay. Then I ordered decaf coffee . . . she told me she had already emptied out the decaf coffee pot . . . so I was going to order something else but she told me she would be happy to brew me a fresh pot which she did. My son and I had a pleasant lunch there . . . since the food was comfort food with no hidden surprises, my son also happily ate his meal. I asked my son whether he thought this place was thumbs up or thumbs down and he gave it a two thumbs up. As we were getting ready to leave, the waitress even gave me a to go cup of the decaf coffee since she said she was just going to dump the pot anyway so why let it go to waste? Overall, a very enjoyable place to have lunch . . . looking forward to going back to try out their breakfast menu items!!

BEST breakfast I have EVER had! The bacon was very much like it was just cooked over a camp fire (yum!) and the waffle.... oh the waffle! By the time I was done, there wasn't a single morsel on my plate and if I had the ability, I would have ordered more! I will absolutely come again to see what other yummies they have! There only downfall is the small space. It is clearly a popular eating spot!

Sorry mom.... this place beats your home cook'n. Hey everyone - the Dinner Bell Cafe is straight up the BEST breakfast anywhere! Get there on the early side though, they fill up quick and don't stay open really late. NOTHING IS BAD!!! Close your eyes and point to something on the menu... chances are, it'll be good :)

They have a special every day of the week and my husband and I went every Friday for their shrimp special and they have now substituted a cheap icky shrimp that is inferior product. So sorry that they don't try and upgrade menu but rather they replace with inferior products. I would happily pay for better quality. Consider better food and increase the prices. Loved this place but now find better quality food elsewhere.

We've been coming to the Dinner Bell for years. Everyone I bring here gets addicted to the Huevos Rancheros. It's a ton of food - and done perfectly. I've ordered many things from the menu and have not been disappointed yet. Had the Eggs Benedict for the first time last weekend and they knocked it out of the park. Hollandaise can make it or break it, if you know what I mean. I've been meaning to write to Guy with Diner's Drive-In's and Dives for quite some time now, but was afraid if I did that it would become even busier than it is now! But, I did just submit my entry for their show... it really is perfect! Bring your hungry friends and family - awesome breakfast and lunch! They close at 2pm - so no dinner at the Dinner Bell! HA!

We don't.... I mean... CANT come to Prescott and NOT come here!! I'm a trained robot!! Buckwheat waffle stuffed with cranberry pecan please!! Oh, and real maple syrup!! Love this place!! Cool hole in the wall feeling with granny style home cooking. Cool laid back staff with great service!! Everything is good! Can't go wrong

Went here for breakfast this past Father's Day weekend and what a great start to the day! The food was delicious- my husband got some sort of omelette and he said everything tasted so fresh- he gladly ate every bite of it! The country potatoes were delicious, as previous yelpers mentioned. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and it seriously took me back to our last trip to Mexico. It was awesome! Service was fast, prices reasonable. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Prescott!

I've been eating here since the 80's, and though I no longer live in Prescott, we go every time I visit. The Dinner Bell has never failed in delivering amazing food. They have never even wavered in their amazingness. This is THE home of the cinnamon roll of all cinnamon roles. The menu is extensive and everything is fresh made. They use high quality meats and eggs, and you can taste the difference. The service is always good, even when they are slammed. What's really amazing is how they can be so local and familiar with regulars, while remaining open and friendly to the infrequent diners. It's not fancy, but you are going there for the outstanding food and the spirit of the place, so who cares.

Meh. We finally came after hearing from everyone how great this place was. I got an omelet and it was ok, rather forgettable. Everyone else said the same thing about their food except for mom. She got the waffle and it was stone cold. She couldn't even get half way through it, it was that bad. Thought about asking the waitress to do something about it but she was scowling so bad that we didn't dare ask her for anything. Also, cash only which is kind of a bummer. Overall, most of the food there was perfectly edible but there was nothing there that I couldn't have made better in my own kitchen.

Went here with the boyfriend. Ordered the chorizo scramble with home potatoes which I embarrassingly finished at breakfast despite it being big enough to feed a small village so you know it was good! He loved the cinnamon bun french toast. The bite I had was way too sweet after eating my meal but I can see what is to like. About $10 a person and delicious.

The Dinner Bell Café in Prescott, Arizona is touted as one of the best local eateries for breakfast and lunch. I recently tried it a second time and was as disappointed as I was the first time. Patio creekside dining is offered but I can't comment on that amenity since I didn't take a look-see. I ordered the two egg breakfast with hash browns and a biscuit. Nothing fancy there. Although the potatoes didn't look greasy, there was definitely a grease-textured aftertaste. The biscuit, while quite large, didn't seem completely "done" inside. No complaint on the easy-over eggs. My partner ordered a menu "special" - pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon. His comment was that the pancakes at Denny's were better. Another caveat is that they don't take credit cards - but you will notice an ATM machine at the rear of the dining room

Excellent restaurant! We looked up restaurants for that area and found some great reviews for this place. We waited for about 15 minutes for a party of 4. It was around 1 pm on a Sunday. I had the chorizo scramble and it was perfect. My bf had the Spanish omelet and he said it was awesome. His son had a cheeseburger and loved it. Rounding out the order was a belgian waffle with strawberries and whip cream. His daughter was very happy with it and finished it in record time. On a side note the coffee was excellent!

  • Ellen W.

Very disappointed to say the least! The corned beef hash was out of a can and the biscuits and gravy were enormous, but too much so. A large could feed 4 people and I would have thought the waitress would tell someone how large it is before they waste that much food. Mainly biscuits with very little gravy. I wanted it to be great, but sadly it missed the mark for this family.

Odd name for a breakfast joint, but what the heck! Good solid breakfast foods with no frills. I had a scramble and some baked goods and everything was quite nice. It all seems very fresh and homemade. Cash only.

The food here is great, the prices are great and the servers are friendly. One reviewer mentioned wishing he had ordered the juevos rancheros. My husband gets that every time we go and loves it. One thing. Avoid the overpriced places on Whiskey Row and go to the Dinner Bell.

The best place to eat in this town. The food is delightful. Chorizo Combo, Pancakes,French Toast, bacon, take your pick. This place is the real deal. Anyone marking it lower for not taking plastic is missing one of the things that makes this place cool.

Dinner Bell! I've been supporting your business since I was just a little thing, but I have to say those days are over after the waitress basically KICKED US OUT for staying after our breakfast & chatting with our family who we never get to see! Seriously, she said, "We have people waiting, so you really need to leave." Um, wow, I can't even count how many times I've waited, sometimes a substantial amount of time, and I never expected anyone to get booted just so I could have a table. This is bad, bad business. Sorry, won't be returning.

  • D'Lisa L.

Portions were out of control, but this isn't always a bad thing! But for under $10 bucks you get enough food to clog your arteries and have leftovers for the next day. Even though it was a diner for sure everything was fresh and made from scratch, I could swear the green chilies I added to my scrambled eggs were freshly sauteed, not from a can. Same with the mushrooms in my boyfriend's omelet. The apple wood bacon was so good I wanted to stab my man's hand as he reached for the last piece, stupid to share an order. The biscuit were smothered in a thick country gravy. Just thinking about it makes me salivate.

Stright up Diner fare as the name implies. Our meal came complete with surly waitress which is great. no akward chatter...Greek omelette was great! Btw if you get a biscuit with your meal, you can get it covered in gravy!

This is a great place for brunch or a leisurely breakfast. The dining room is a little small, but it's all about the prescott vibe. Colorful, worn down tables and chairs in a minimalist room to give it the bohemian/desert artist vibe. The only thing I ordered here (the only thing I will ever order here) are the buckwheat waffles with mango and walnuts (I was told about it from my lovely AZ family away from my real family RIP Carol). The combination is simply scrumptious. Go here. Order these waffles. You won't regret it.

If you want an excellent breakfast this is the place. This morning I ordered a Southwest omelet with country potatoes and sourdough toast. This is what makes this cafe stand out: cilantro, lots of green chilis, and homemade salsa, real butter on the toast (which is toasted to perfection), real potatoes! (peeled each morning). Another great thing: the waitresses! They are the old school: fast, efficient, and not overly talkative. I love this place!

It's in a nice spot, right on the creek, with a nice patio area. The food is average and forgettable, if you are lucky. If you're not lucky, you just might get the sh*ts. Sunday mornings are crowded with locals, otherwise it's pretty quiet. It's cheap and quick, with a nice Prescott atmosphere. Turns out that the owners of Bill's Pizza used to own this place. That explains the good reviews. The bad reviews would be more up to date.

Excellent service. Very good location and very homely inside-also full of history. Food was great and would definitely go back. We had breakfast, portions were large, and very tasty.

Ate there this morning. It's true as someone noted, the Dinner Bell is a diner. The difference is that the food is extremely well-prepared and the coffee is great! I like my eggs over hard and at almost everyplace I eat that means they burn them. Not so at DB, the eggs came out so perfect I didn't think they had done them right, but too my surprise they had managed to cook my eggs through without burning them. Yeah, the server was a little grim faced, but that's just the way some people are. She wasn't unpleasant, just business like and not inclined to stand and chat at length with the customers, even the regulars. I'll take good food and quick service anytime over bad food and a server who chat's you up to get a good tip. My only complaint is the fruit. I ordered a small cup and it tasted like it had been prepared yesterday.

dinner bell isn't open for dinner.. cool eh?! Everything about this place is old.. the walls, floors, chairs, tables, windows.. so yea everything.. and that's what i love most about it.. ok.. it's not old.. it's Classic! the workers are friendly and nice.. the food is not the best in town nor anywhere close to being the best, but, it's good enough that i always find myself coming back. =)

I'm not sure what all the great reviews are about. This is basically a diner with diner food - sandwiches, burgers, chili... They didn't mess anything up, but since when is ok food a great 5 star review?

Hands doen the BEST breakfast you will ever eat! My personal favorite is the Mayan Mocha with a Southwest omelet with hashbrowns and english muffin. You have to sit in the back to feel like a local ;)

If you like funky this is your place. Don't eat in dining room on the street, rather take the "ramp" to the rear restaurant along the creek. it's a lot of fun and the breakfast and lunch fare is very good. It's not high end but hey it's tough to screw up a breakfast. We love taking guests there because we like the casual atmosphere and the location along the creek. The menu selection is extensive and the food is good. The coffee is just OK but they keep the mugs full. We've always had good service and the wait staff, while usually busy, has been pleasant. They only take cash so be advised and the restroom is in the front dining room. It can get crowed on weekend mornings and sometimes the wait can be long so be advised.

A great breakfast place is essential to a good vacation. Eating breakfast in the hotel rarely satisfies the taste buds nor the sense of adventure. Exploring downtown Prescott, we came upon the Dinner Bell and it became "our" breakfast joint. Eating in the main room or the patio worked for our group with three kids ranging from one-year to 12-years old. Pancakes, eggs and waffles were delicious. Coffee was good and flowed freely from our on-the-ball waitress, and the price was reasonable. We went back for breakfast on each morning of our 4-day vacation because it was a great way to start the day.

A good place for breakfast.! We read that the back room/patio creekside was the best place to sit and that recommendation was right on. However, the whole deck running along the restaurant could use some maintenance...especially if you are going to have waiting tables standing up and down it. Also, cash only is somewhat inconvenient for a restaurant that must rely on having some tourist traffic. Otherwise, food and service was all good!

Really, this place should be called the Breakfast Bell. I've never had any meal other than breakfast here, but it's the only place I'll eat breakfast in Prescott. The servings are enough to feed a third-world village, and yet I've cleaned my plate each time I've been there. I'd bet on their chicken fried steak in a Pepsi Challenge against ANY other chicken fried steak in Arizona (yes, even that one). It's not a place for a healthy breakfast by any means, but if you're willing to check your diet at the door you'll not be disappointed.

Can't really give this place the 3rd star for our breakfast experience today. It's amazing how a grumpy waitress/server can sour an experience. I will give 4 stars for the ham steak that Mom ordered and for the Chorizo Scramble I ordered. 2 stars for everything else I tasted (yes...I have a wandering fork...LOL!) Overall, this could have been a 3 star if the waitress would have cracked a smile. We tried to cheer her up but to no avail... CASH only

I always loved this place, It makes me miss Prescott.... The funny thing about this place is that they are closed for dinner! haha! But seriously best breakfast in town, good portions and great service. Me and my roommates would frequent this place often. After a while the waitresses knew what we where going to order.. This place is definitely a great hang out spot for Prescott College students that are not vegans

Steak and eggs were absolutely perfect. I was sitting at the counter and saw every meal that went out of the kitchen and all looked great. Pancakes and waffles looked perfect, and I wish I had ordered Huevos rancheros based on appearance alone.

I love this place. I know, I know. Five stars seems like a lot for a small diner. But there's a lot packed in there. First, the food is great. But also, there's the fact that it is right on the creek and only a couple of blocks from the courthouse. Additionally, there are two different rooms in which to dine. The front looks like your typical diner. The back, though, caters to Prescott's more earthy/ granola culture. Both places are comfortable and welcoming. This is a great place for a lazy weekend breakfast or a quick lunch downtown.

This is a great cafe for breakfast or lunch, I have been there a bunch of times. Service is friendly and fast and prices are reasonable. Food has been consistently good, with a variety on the menu. I like the atmosphere, too, and it's clean!
