Holy Breakfast burrito! I never would have guessed that Dairy Queen would make such a good breakfast. Staff were friendly, it was a pleasant surprise to get a good meal to start my day here. Also, you can't beat the scenery of the beautiful Sonora desert.

I remember stopping here as a kid on many a roadtrip from Mesa to visit family in Tucson and Nogales. It has been many a year since my last visit and I am surprised that not a lot has changed, except the price of a dilly bar and blizzard. If you are looking for a quick DQ fix off the 10, then this will do in a pinch, but you will pay a lil bit extra for the middle of nowhere convenience. I don't know what it is about this location, but even though the Blizzards pass the "upside down drip test" they always seem to instantly melt the minute you get in your car? This "insta-melt" phenomenon also afflicts their dilly bars. The staff is usually of the "miserable elderly" or "disenfranchised youth" variety, so if you are wanting common courtesy or a smile, look elsewhere. This place is, however, a goldmine for people watching though! If you aren't in a hurry and want to eat your melt-a-mess on premises, I highly recommend sticking around for some of the gems that walk through the double doors (including those that can't figure out that pulling vs pushing and vice versa is the magic that gains you entrance). In any case, this last visit was a $5 small liquid blizzard with a free helping of humorous people watching an extra side of nostalgia.

Terrible service, slow, unorganized. The manager in training was a joke. Milkshakes were super runny. Yuck

The worst customer service I ever experienced. The cashier was very rude. After I said thank you she didn't even say your welcome.

After a long day hike at Picacho Peak, nothing cools me down faster than a Strawberry milkshake from Dairy Queen. If you really want to feel guilty, add that order with some fried stuff. Think of all the calories you just burned coming right back into your body in the form of pure fried grease. Yum! Delicious, yet sinful calories. As for the DQ itself... well... it is a DQ in the middle of nowhere; not like you have many alternatives you can pick from... I didn't expect much, so I wasn't disappointed. The tourist shop next to it is the perfect place to avoid if you're a hoarder. They sell all types of trinkets (reminds me of those tourist traps, I mean shops, around Pier 39 in SF). I almost got suckered into buying some pretty rocks (boss/mom (aka girlfriend) wouldn't let me get the fireworks, something about killing myself)... my girl left with a miniature Saguraro cactus plant. Figured that is the only thing she cannot kill within the first week under her care. p.s. The cactus is still alive and well, 2 years later. That is one strong-willed cactus. Hats off to you Sir Cactus.

The chocolate malt is like any other Fairy Queen. The the staff was slow, unorganized and the prep area needed cleaning.

I have been to this DQ several times over the years and it is probably the dirtiest, poorly run DQ I have ever been to. The ice cream has been OK each time I have been there, the food is decent, and the service is mediocre. The gripes I have for this review are: the coleslaw was not very cold nor fresh and the condiments were also suspiciously luke-cold. I wonder how their health code inspections go, but I suspect that they are not keeping some foods at required temperatures except for maybe the ice-cream. Eat at this dump at your own risk - I do! And a Blizzard is a fantastic reward after climbing Picacho Peak. The souvenir shop attached is exactly the same as the place that has "the thing", but fun to poke around in. Plus they have fireworks!

I went to this "Dairy Queen" in Picacho Peak, AZ on 12/14/2009. It was my first time there. The ice cream was good on a hot day.

This is a small town DQ - yep. I ordered a hamburger and the grill idiot kept pressing down on the burger with the spatula pressing out all of the juices. I asked please not to do that and he looked right at and lead on the burger patty as hard as he could. A dirty DQ irty with a bad attitude - I'l find another place to stop between Phoenix and Tucson - and not at DQ at Picacho Peak.
