The food was only 3 stars, but the family who owns the place was so warm and welcoming I wish I could give it more. The cheese crisp was winner winner, but it was unanimously agreed that everything else was dishearteningly bland. Maybe we came on an off night.
Great place to stop for lunch not a bad excursion from the interstate. Had the green chili cheese burger, it was really good and the staff was nice and attentive.
Food is good. We had the chimichangas. Very tasty and not greasy. Smaller portion size (which should be the normal size). Owners are very sweet and love to chat.

Authentic Cali-mex. Carne Asada is just like it should be, spiced carrots and great refried beans. All good taco shops have old video games, but their gumball soccer is unique and a nice touch.
I had the Arizona Burrito, one of their top sellers. It is made of beef, cheese, potatoes, and pico de gallo. It was hot, fresh, and very tasty. The location is handy for those close to the highway or people staying at the OK RV Park across the road. Lots of locals were here for dinner when I arrived and they had a Mexican soap opera playing on the TV. Oh, the drama!
The green chile combo plate was disappointing, as is usually the case with fast food Mexican restaurants. The after-taste of the green chile sauce gave away its low quality and the beef tasted like it was cooked too long, the sides were just as mediocre. The cheese enchilada looked trashy and the sauce needs some work, I've had better enchiladas at my high school cafeteria, but it's edible. The carne asada/carnitas tacos were loaded with meat, lacked some seasoning, but probably the best choice on the menu. If you're short on time and cash, the tacos are not a bad idea, but don't expect much.

We were passing through overnight and my husband found this place while riding his bike and stopped in for a beer-liked it, so we came back for dinner. We ate in the bar area. Service was good, just Briana working on a Sunday night and she was fairly busy, but came back to check on us regularly. I had veal Marsala and it came with bread and salad. Both were good, salad fresh. The veal Marsala was tasty and it came with pasta. My husband took a chicken Caesar salad to go and it was also great. I would definitely come back again.
We were passing thru after a long day of sight seeing, and stopped for dinner, on 9/14/15. We were a party of 9. The food and service were excellent! I would recommend you try this Italian / Mexican restaurant. sounds strange but italian food was wonderful.
Had dinner there on 9/6. It was within walking distance from the hotel. The restaurant side was already pretty full, so we went to the bar side. It was actually a very large bar, with one bartender/waitress. I don't eat much and my husband wasn't hungry, so we split the spaghetti with meat sauce. He had the house salad, which he enjoyed. Nothing special---lettuce and shredded carrots. No tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. The spaghetti sauce was very good, as well as the fresh bread. I would certainly try the place again. The only downside was slow service. Not bartender/waitress fault. Before we left there were 10 people in the bar, and just Crystal waiting tables and serving drinks. O, the other downside---husband left his hat there.

Cheese crisp is fried, not baked tortilla, but generous in size and amount of cheese. I ordered the special which came with taco meat on the top. The cheese enchilada with red sauce with a side of beans and rice can be had for 5.25 on Tuesdays and is a great deal, it's a properly made enchilada. Wednesdays, tacos are only a $1 and a steal for that price, unfortunately half the town shows up during lunch time. The chicken taco was filled with properly cooked, tender chicken. I'd say the red chili here is better than the green chili. The burgers are hand-pattied, always a plus. The only down sides I noticed to this place is the $4.25 side of guacamole, the waiters are often very slow, and the 75 cent surcharge with every card purchase. One of the better restaurants in Holbrook, a great choice for lunch and they have a refreshing selection of alcoholic drinks to accompany the meal.
I was not impressed with this food, green chili in the rellano was from the can. The chili was real runny and looked like someone regurgitated on my plate. The rice was mush and the beans did not have any flavor. It was like eating oven baked baby food.
Want a great Navajo taco that isn't on greasy fry bread? Here's the place. Chimichangas are great, and pinto beans, salsas and guacamole are fresh made. Great treat to have lunch here.

We went here at a toss of the coin. We have been eating the past week on a Colorado to California round trip road trip on Yelp reviews only. This was the best rated for Holbrook so we tried it. Tacky plastic covered tables to start with. I looked past that, hubby didn't. We ordered the Calamari appetizer which tasted good considering we are in AZ. Tomato sauce was fresh tasting. Salad was way overdressed iceberg lettuce. Ordered the Veal picatta Usually you can cut veal with a fork not here it required a knife and a little effort. The sauce was good. Cannoli for desert was very hard but the flavor was good. Had to use a knife to break the shell service was fair. We were not told there was a special. For the limited choices this is probably the best choice for the price which was high
The Baked eggplant with fresh tomato and mozzarella was a good way to start the meal. The sauce, ever so important at an Italian restaurant is rich and tastes like it's made in-house. Pasta Combo comes with Lasagna, manicotti, and stuffed shell. Although the serving is small for the price, it is a satisfying entree, particularly because of the sauce. The meat inside the lasagna had an almost earthy taste, which worked well with the ricotta cheese, red sauce, and mozzarella. I for one, like the meat in lasagna/ravioli to contrast with the sauce, and it definitely does, though it could probably use a bit of seasoning. Meal came with cheap salad and garlic bread. The service, at least this night, was attentive. Many of the main entrees are a bit pricy for what you get, and anyone would be annoyed by the one dollar CC service charge, so I would normally rate this restaurant 3 stars, but given the desolate location it's in, it's easily one of the best places to eat in Holbrook, so I award it 4 stars.
The restaurant was being remodeled when we were there. June 17, 2013 We had to eat in the bar area ... The waitress forgot our drinks. We couldn't find anything on the menu that was reasonably priced for what we considered bar food. Retro is a very nice way of saying Budweiser signs everywhere... We finally decided to just order fries and a slice of pizza... thinking that may be safe... The fries were hard and greasy... appearing that they had been double dipped in the fryer... and the pizza crust was difficult to chew and did not taste good at all... all this after having to wait an hr for our food...we followed the reviews from others here and were very disappointed.

This is an old school restaurant and the food is great. The service is awesome and we have been there twice and will come anytime were in town. The waitress is a wealth of knowledge on route 66. We actually got to meet "Stanley" who inspired a character in the Cars movie.
While in Holbrook, We stopped at Joe & Aggies Cafe. We should have keep going. The place was dirty. The floors had crushed chips all over. The Flies are all over. One review was" bring your own fly swatter". I should have read it before entering. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND EAT ACROSS THE STREET AT ROMO'S . Wish we did.
This place get 3.5 stars? Is that a joke? Stopped here for lunch based on the reviews, Dirty at 1:00p.m. Almost all tables uncleaned. Found 1 that was clean. Refried beans just freekin awful. What's so hard, empty em out of a can, maybe add some hot sauce, saute em, add cheese on top, apparently this is too hard. Beef taco, no seasoning, no taco sauce added to meat, tasteless, very little lettuce/cheese/tomato. Nondescript rice No iced tea. Really? Rasberry tea was awful Cheese enchis with a good red chile sauce salvaged 2 stars.

Never again. Thought you couldn't ruin eggs and potatoes, but this place can. And charge extra for hash browns! Not welcoming wait staff, less responsive. An Egg McMuffin would be better and more economical.
Stopped for lunch on the way to interstate 40. We got the burger special with fries and soda and a dinner salad for about same price as a fast food place, but much better. .local friendly and tasty!
Stopped for breakfast on the way to New Mexico. We waited 15 to 20 minutes for someone to take our order, and another 30 minutes to get served. That alone wouldn't be a problem, except that others who came in after us got served well before we did. Locals, maybe? We inquired with the waiter about our order, and his response was, "It's not my fault." Hmm. After we complained again, to a waitress, our dishes arrived. One plate had plain bread and not the toast that was ordered. The breakfast burrito was good. So-so food overall amongst the 3 of us, not worth the wait.

the guys who were working here on the afternoon of Monday March 24th were easily the nicest, most earnest guys I've ever met at a fast food restaurant. I hope the boss sees this and gives them a raise. (unless one of the 20something guys was the owner??? they all treated the place/me that well- seriously.) the blizzard was radical... I asked for chocolate chips and he MADE THEM WITH CHOCOLATE SHELL... GENIUS!!!!! thanks guys!
Signs posted to keep dogs away. Absolutely no pet walking in parking area! So we drove on and found same signs near A&W. Crisscrossing the country, we have not encountered comparable community attitude.
Given limited choices and limited time I opted for a burger at DQ over the more ubiquitous chains in Holbrook. The burger was OK. Probably better than something I would have gotten from McDonald's. At least my food was made to order and not sitting under a heat lamp waiting for some poor soul to want after it. In general I think you have a better shot of freshly prepared (as opposed to actually fresh) food at a DQ Brazier than at the big burger chains.

McDonald’s

Yes, it's McDonalds, but anytime I can can be in, out and down the road in under 10 minutes, I'm a happy guy -- and I think here it was roughly 6 minutes end to end. Ordered, visited the restrooms (clean and tidy by most travelers' standards) and had my order waiting when I returned to the counter. It was spot on the first time around, and I was back onto the highway. Fantastic!
Service not that great. Fries were gross and way overcooked. The place was overall clean. This McDonald's is higher priced than those of the Phx area, but that's probably because it's in a small town and why not gouge the people of Holbrook and it's passerby's? I didn't think McDonald's could mess up fries or they need to change their oil. The fries were got were gross and overcooked. I returned the fries and saw them fries a new batch of fries and these were really no better. We ate some, but threw the rest away. Thankfully we didn't buy more than 1 order of fries. Too bad we ordered a large instead of a small and wasted our money. Just not real impressed with the Native Americans working here. My husband works with Native Americans. I grew up around Native Americans. So, we know that Native Americans are not like this. Really, service is less than impressive and substandard.
The service was slow today for lunch (1115am). There seems to be too many people working and not enough getting done. The food came out as ordered.

Clean as far as gas station Subway's go. Staff was friendly and to my shock and awe they had spinach and all the fixins. A footlong combo will run you the $9 route, but with not much else to choose from on the I-40 corridor, it is best to go with what you know.
