After having a dismal experience at the Olive Garden at the Stonestown Galleria in San Francisco, I doubted that I'd ever eat at another Olive Garden...... Until my recent experience here. The meal was very good, and the service and caring of the staff was exceptional! Our server was very attentive, helpful, and always there for us. (Not like the previous experience when our server seated us, then went AWOL) Here, even the manager came around to the tables to ask how everything was. While some people might avoid chain restaurants, this place is a cut above. Great job here in Flagstaff Olive Garden! (Take some notes San Francisco!)

Kudos to the management and bartender (I think the bartenders name is Dustin) staff at Olive Garden. I had an issue on my last visit and the GM, Brian went above and beyond to make it right. That's what customer service is all about!

This review is in response to some of the other reviews on the service at this particular Olive Garden. I worked here as a hostess several years ago, and I remember how they operated at the time. I doubt it's changed much. In response to comments about waiting when there are empty tables, no, they're not making you wait to get you to buy drinks at the bar (have you seen the size of their bar?). Yes, they mean it when they say there is not a server for those servers, tables are sat in rotation according to when the server's shift starts and ends to give them all an equal shot at tips. The large room in the back on the left opens first and it goes counterclockwise from there, once at opening, and again during the span between the lunch and dinner rush, and they close in the same order. Anyone seen standing around are either not servers (bartenders, takeout specialists, hosts) or are assigned tables in a different section. Taking on additional tables is up to the server and manager and vary depending on circumstances (someone is out sick, unexpected rush, etc). As for the wait, this is Flagstaff, it just doesn't have the dining out options that larger cities have. Places like Olive Garden/Red Lobster are considered a nice place to go for lunch/dinner with family and friends for your birthday. I was also told that it is one of the smallest location in the country. Lastly on the "up-selling". Yes, it's a corporate requirement to offer the wine, and they will be reprimanded if caught skipping the step. Otherwise, remember that offering things to increase your bill is in the server's best interest, regardless of what corporate wants, because it increases their tip (rent in Flagstaff is not cheap). The most whining I heard from servers was about the unlimited soup, salad, and bread sticks lunch special, popular for it's value. What patrons probably didn't know is that the kitchen does nothing for that meal, the servers are responsible for assembling the salad, dishing up the soup, and filling the basket as well as keeping your glass filled. For all that work they get a very small tip. No need to comment on a chain's food, it is what it is, same as everywhere else.

I love the bread sticks. I don't mind only eating that for the meal. Haha. The good thing is, we can always refill, but we were too full from the salad and soup. The soup was pretty good. I like the pasta because of this certain sauce they used. I didn't really like much of the chicken they made. I don't remember what dish we order, but it was alright overall. However, the price was a bit expensive.

It's Olive Garden... Standard noodles with a thin sauce. Iceberg lettuce salad with a decent dressing. If you like white flour and canned sauce that includes high fructose corn syrup... this is the place for you. . I mean come on! It's just Olive Garden. It's the McDonalds of pasta...

I rarely have the opportunity to dine out, but the times that I've visited this particular Olive Garden, I've had great experiences. The employees are always pleasant and polite. No matter how busy the restaurant is, they always make sure to keep us filled up on beverages and bread sticks (which are a personal favourite!). The only issue I have with Olive Garden, is their prices. They could be worse, but they could also be better. Either way, I'm a fan of this place and can't wait to return again.

My family and I are here on New Years Eve as we were passing through Flag. Wasn't that crowded. Food and service were great.

VERY nice, proficient waiterss. Love the food. Large portions so I can eat same yummy food for lunch next day.

NEVER WILL I RETURN!!! My family and I were coming back from Sedona our a way to the Grand Canyon when we decided to stop by for dinner - BIGGEST MISTAKE!!! We realized the restaurant was busy therefore we expected to wait. The wait was approximately 50 minutes or so... we waited over 1 1/2 hr!! I noticed they kept taking people in that showed up after us and when I said something the hostess told me our table was clearing up - took another 15-20 min. Turns out the table they were waiting for was once hidden in a corner. Hmmm?? Okaaaay... To make a long story short we heard stories about non-caucassians being victims of racism in Az, yet I visit Az multiple times a year and NEVER had I experienced it until this incident. Our waiter was rude, treated us like he was doing us a favor, our bread was cold, we noticed our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive to surrounding tables with the exception of ours and in addition the busboy (who was hispanic) confirmed we were being victims of racism-"they do it to all the latinos." WOW! Of course I'll return to Az, continue to travel and explore different attractions within it's beautiful state however I will NEVER return to such place where they belittled my family and I.

The service absolutely ruined it for me. Our waiter desperately tried to hard-sell the wine and continued to give me a 50-word description of an appetizer after I politely told him that we were not interested in an appetizer. The food is the same as it is at every other Olive Garden, but the service just makes it NOT worth it.

  • Adam F.

Just as good as the other Olive Garden restaurants! The service has always been friendly here. Most of the staff is college students since it is so close to campus, but it does not affect your experience at this restaurant. I get so full after having the breadsticks, soup, and salad because it is absolutely amazing!

  • Ben S.

Three words: Bread sticks. Honestly I think we could go there and just eat the bread sticks, they're that good. The salad is fine, sometimes a bit soggy. The pasta is pretty good - they're a chain and they do a lot of pasta. Is it perfect authentic italian? Maybe not, but it tastes good, the service is good and it's good value for money. The dessert menu looks delicious, but we're always so full from the dinner that we never have room.

Okay, it's Olive Garden and the food is the same everywhere. I just have to review this one because of the great service. We took my husband's brother there for his birthday and a large group of twenty six was seated in our section. Even though our waiter was split between us and the huge mob, we still got our food promptly and our needs in terms of drinks and to-go boxes were anticipated at every turn. The manager (or owner) even managed to come out and greet us and make sure we weren't being ignored. The waiter mentioned that this was the third large group of the night and they seem to have the system down for dealing with big rushes.

It was pretty good, but the service is mediocre and the food isn't the greatest.

Excellent food, great service from waitress Kelsey and manager Tanya! Same menu as other locations but staff and service were especially good! Highly recommend endless pasta dishes.

Olive Garden is basically consistent everywhere, but the staff at this location is really nice. Had a great meal, great service and amazing dessert of their seasonal Pumpkin Cheesecake. Only downside...great big lettuce core in the salad.

As far as the food goes, it's Olive Garden. You know what to expect. Their Mediterranean Chicken wasn't what it could have been, but not bad either. The braised beef and tortellini was tasty. Both were overpriced. But this place doesn't handle groups well. We called ahead, made the arrangements, even pre-ordered (they wanted people to get the bottomless pasta bowl). And still they didn't handle the logistics well, we had to wait a long time, the service was friendly but mostly absent. They didn't even ask if we wanted cheese in our soup, nor if we wanted refills on the soup. A very lack-luster performance on their part. The food was OK, not great, but OK. And everything else about how they handled the experience was shoddy and disorganized.

  • Jacqui V.

While I am not a fan of chains, this place has great food and the BEST service I've had. It seams as though the whole staff is there just to serve. The food is good too(except, or course, for the bread. Order the flat-bread and you won't be sorry!

While visiting the Flagstaff area decided to stop in at Olive Garden. We were seated immediately and placed our order. The salad is always the same, so no complaints there. The bread sticks were bland, lacking the garlic flavor. The pasta fagioli soup had no flavor, so we tried the minestrone. It was no better. The Spaghetti with meat sauce was fine but the Grilled Chicken Toscano was awful. My husband said the risotto had no flavor and one of the pieces of chicken was so over-cooked it was like rubber. What a disappointing dinner.

I ordered take out and really enjoyed how well seasoned the food was. I wanted it a little hotter, but other than that, good place. Enough said...

We came without reservations on a Tuesday evening about 7:00pm. We still had a 25 minute wait which wasn't a huge deal for us but they can certainly use more indoor waiting benches instead of us lining against the wall in full view of dining customers. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, 40 minutes for our appetizer, and an hour for the main entree. This was because after 40 minutes they had to come back and tell me they were out of my first choice of entree and had to refire our order. The food was great and absolutely no complaints at all. 90-minutes later we were done. So why the 4-stars? Because, they recognized they were behind the curve, and screwed up. The staff was clearly working hard, literally out of breath trying to keep up, but still moving like wildfire. The manager came by and comped the meal that they missed, and were generally upset by their level of performance. That tells me it's not what they normally do, and when it happens, they know how to fix it. Pure customer service. That said, I would definitely give them a second chance, because the food was great and the service speaks for itself. Just need to staff to the level of success they seem to be enjoying.

Over an hour wait on a Tuesday night. NO THANKS. 3 stars though because I know the food is good.

  • Dave W.

Food is good. Service is also very good. Go there for lunch. If you go there for supper you'll more than likely find a waiting list even though there are many empty tables. Why? My guess is that by making you wait, you'll go to the bar and order drinks. That's where the money is...the bar sales. I don't appreciate being used in that way.

nothing like some hot Italian food when up in Flagstaff in the winter. Service is friendly and it's the good Olive Garden version of Italian food that almost everyone likes

Arrived in Flagstaff fairly late so we were in a hurry to go and eat dinner. Olive Garden was about a block away and since we don't have one in Hawaii we went there. We were seated almost immediately. They probably could have put 5 of us on a bigger table but choose a 4-top with an extra chair so there wasn't a whole lot of room for the food especially with the salad bowl. The food was good. I had the mussel appetizer and salad which was just right. It definitely wreaks chain but I liked it

Was in Flagstaff for the weekend and met my niece here for lunch. Ordered the Risotto Bites to start, peach tea, and Chicken Parm with minestrone. Everything was good and service was attentive, but almost too much so. Our server stopped by several times asking if we needed anything else, when we clearly needed refills. And then they kept getting confused with what we all were drinking. It was weird. Got to use our free appetizer coupon. Woohoo! Tasty lunch.

The wait can be long if you're not an early dinner eater. It's just your typical Olive Garden with cute college kids as your servers. Since it gets busy sometimes, I've had instances where servers forgot to bring things and I just reminded them, no big deal. I like Olive Garden :)

Standard Olive Garden, very small bar area. Service was nice, food was great, no complaints.

We went to flagstaff to see snow and after that we looked for a place to eat because Hawaii doesn't have Olive Garden we decided to eat there for lunch. It wasn't busy and fitted our big party. I love the unlimited salad and breadsticks. Love it. And that's a plus. I got ravioli and I love it. Please Check photos. Everyone in the party love there food. Very delicious and we got lots of left over to bring back to the Hotel. No complains. I wish they make one in Hawaii.

Pros and Cons Pros 1. Tasty Food at an Affordable Price 2. Large Portions 3. Friendly Service 4. Nice Décor Cons 1. A bit hard to find I came here recently and really enjoyed my meal . I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana with the Chicken Dumpling Soup. The portion was large and the food was fresh and tasty. Moreover, the staff is friendly. I really enjoy coming here when I visit Flagstaff

Thankfully we came here with my MOM and STEP DAD, they knew where they were going. The food here as usual for OLive garden was awesome! I took advantage of the special it was 11.99 and I got soup or salad a main dish and desert . I was a Happy camper.

PROs: Outstanding food quality and presentation. Our server Ryan P. was awesome as was our hostess and the other staff members. Bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. Food came out in order, hot and fresh. CONs: NONE!!! I STRONGLY recommend that you visit this Olive Garden!

A wonderful place with some great food. I received larger portions here than I usually do at my local Olive Garden in Crystal Lake. The service was nice as our server was always smiling and always happy. However, I assume we were a nuisance to the cooks as our breadsticks didn't come out for awhile...and they weren't as warm and soft as usual. The interior was rather lacking in places as well. Certain parts of the establishment were very authentic Italian, but around us it was hard to get the feel with only a few paintings thrown up on the wall. Overall, I think I'd still eat here again.

Cafeteria-type dining experience. Shame on me for giving this chain multiple tries. Little bit better than a TV dinners and pre-made iceberg salad. Sacrifice creativity for uniformity. Unfortunately, consistency will not bring me back.

The place is pretty great. They are good for big parties and well priced, and the food was good. The service was always great every time I went. I have never gotten sick here as well so they are good for separation of food for vegetarians. I recommend it when you just need a familiar name to stop by for food.

I don't give 5 stars that often but!!! Just finished a fabulous meal @ Olive Garden. Our server Howard (Howie) was one of the best we've seen in a long long time. Salad was fresh, crisp, delish! Food was hot and served as soon as soup ended. All entrees were enjoyed by everyone. If we're ever in Flagstaff Az again we will definitely eat here again. Thanks Howie!

We just had the best service at this place. Chain restaurants can be hit or miss. Deshon was our waiter. He was so attentive and friendly. Our drinks came out very quickly and we never had an empty glass. Salad and breadsticks and alfredo sauce were out in less than 5 minutes of us placing our order. He had these sayings for the cheese being grated, reminding us to ask for him next time we came in, and even for the chocolates at the end. They were cheesy, but it showed that he's put some thought into his work. He even accidentally dropped a fork on me and apologized for it and joked about juggling. Very charming waiter and Olive Garden is lucky to have him. The food was great too. The breadsticks were a little hard and didn't taste as fresh as I've had at other Olive Garden restaurants. I got the eggplant Parmesan and it was GREAT! I love their house marinara and the eggplant was so crispy and not even a little bit soggy. My husband had the seafood alfredo and enjoyed it as well. I really would recommend asking for Deshon if you decide to dine here.

I love the unlimited supplies of bread sticks and/or soup/salad deal. Their bread sticks are much much better than Red Lobster's garlic buns, can't even compare with each other. Olive Garden used to have the same parent company as Red Lobster but that's no longer the case. All food served at Olive Garden are so fresh made and the selections are excellent, lots of choices. If you have left over food, they will bag it for you and even ask to see if you want a bag of the fresh made bread sticks. Kudos for them to even ask you. Great location and have nothing to complain. Love them!

I've been going to Olive Garden for years but lately the food quality has gone down. The salad watery like it had been sitting for awhile. There was wilted slimy pieces of lettuce. My cavatappi garlic Alfredo had no flavor. It was dry, tasteless and bland. The bread sticks were wrapped in paper to look like the cloth napkins but it's paper. I have had better food at Denny's.

After a day of hiking and sightseeing at the Grand Canyon, we were exhausted and the appeal of walking next door from the Marriott Courtyard- won out. I honestly don't think I have ever really respected the OG. I am sorry! Our service and food was excellent. The wait staff was on fire... They really hustle! Bruschetta app was awesome and so was the chicken parm. Like hitting an EASY button.

Mariah was a fantastic server. Very attentive and polite. We have a special needs child and she was very patient with her which made us feel great. Our food was perfect. The manager came and personally talked to us. My food (shrimp Alfredo) was delivered to my table by the chef. 5 star experience. Highly recommend this location to anyone.

  • Love F.

Their "waiting room" was my and my family standing in the doorway for thirty minutes. This facility is way too small for an Olive Garden! I would never go here again. Plus their breadsticks were hard and the staff might have broken if they cracked a smile.

  • Alex S.

This restaurant was right across the street from my hotel and had it not been for a very long day hiking and driving, I would've gotten in the car and gone somewhere else. It's not that I have a problem with Olive Garden ... this was my first visit to any of their restaurants. But I DO have a problem with chain restaurants and you really have to force or drug me to get me to go to one. That said, I can understand why a lot of people are devoted fans of Olive Garden: you get a lot of food for a reasonable price and, unlike most chain restaurants, the food is actually good! My partner had the portabello mushroom stuffed ravioli with soup; I had the make your own (cucina mia) special and picked giant rigatoni with sausage and three meat sauce. Now, this is no reflection on the restaurant at all, but when I was asked by my partner how I liked the pasta, I said it was very good, but added, that a man dying of thirst would think muddy water was splendid, too. The analogy, while it sounds offensive, is accurate: since I started working out four years ago this November, I have NOT had pasta ONCE! It's not like I've been fanatical about dieting; but pasta is just a big no-no. So was the pasta great, because I haven't had any in four years and really can't judge for lack of exposure? Or was it really GOOD?! I don't know; all I can say is, it was very good. I was pleased to see they had frozen Bellinis. I used to love getting those at Macaroni Grill until they went the way of most of their good food. The Bellinis here were good, but they use white, not red, wine in the drinks and they're a bit too "perfumy" for me. But still good, nonetheless. So, while this chain might be something to have as a treat once a year or so (three hours after dinner, my blood sugar was STILL at 190), I can't complain about the choice we made. Service, too, was hospitable and competent. I wish, I could give such rave reviews to most chain restaurants I've been to; but alas, I can't

  • Judy S.

Hmmm... not sure if it was just a off day but we had just been to another OG the night before & customer service & food quality was night & day! My salad was not fresh but soggy, or maybe a better word is wilted. The soups were way too salty & missing ingredients... maybe bottom of the pot? Not sure... our pastas were all just meh... something is not right here... management, maybe you need to do some quality control here.

Our waiter was very rude. The food I received had a funny taste so I asked to return it to the kitchen. The waiter was extremely rude about it. The chef brought out my new dish and nearly threw it down on the table. Thankfully one of the managers, Tanya, stopped by our table to check on us. She was absolutely wonderful and her customer service was excellent. She made sure to come check on us various times throughout the duration of our meal after the complaint. She made us feel much better about the service, and because of Tanya we will be returning.

Service and food were great! Staff was very accommodating with the variety of special dietary needs and preferences some folks in our party of eight required. I was able to feed four adults and four kids for $108 + tip, and that was with one appetizer and one kid that had an adult meal. Hot food came out fast and fresh. Will definitely be back here on our next trip to Flagstaff.

OK, I know this is a chain and I did not have high expectations, but I promised my famished eight year old grandson that we would stop for dinner at the first full service restaurant we encountered after leaving the Harkins movie theater and this just happened to be it. The first thing I noticed when we entered was this Olive Garden is still configured into several small rooms, rather the one room noisy, over crowded hall that so many OGs have been remodeled into. Nice. We will actually be able to carry on a conversation. Then I noted that the tables were far enough apart so as to not bump into the person at the next table every time you move in your chair. Very nice. My grandson ordered the kids pepperoni pizza with chocolate milk and one side. I thought he might chose the grapes for his side, but nooooo......he chose the garlic mashed potatoes. The total cost of this high carb extravaganza was $4.99 and he claimed that it was all delish. I selected the chicken fettuccine Alfredo with salad for $14.99. It was excellent. We both had enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow. What really made this a 5 star visit was the people. The hostess, server, and even random employees passing by were so friendly. The service was prompt and professional. The server even added additional bread sticks to our bag of leftovers. So, I guess my question is, why aren't all Olive Gardens like this one? ,

This is one of the best Olive Gardens I've been to. There's always a lot of people there on a Sunday night and they are still very fast at serving. The food is excellent the prices are okay and the waiters are very helpful and Courteous. The breadsticks are really good and I love the salad everything always taste fresh and delicious.

Good food, fast service, walking distance from several local hotels. Obviously, this isn't the most amazing, authentic Italian food ever, but it'll do. Walked here from my hotel after a local pizza place told me it'd be 1.5 hours for delivery. Was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Staff was attentive but not annoying and the food came out fast.

I normally don't like chain restaurants of any kind with the exception of Olive Garden. Called in an order for my mother's birthday since she had to work on her actual birthday. Ordered the Braised Beef & Tortelloni, side salad, and Strawberry & White Chocolate Dolcini. My order was correct and right on time. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back.

Had a great dinner tonight. Did the $12.99 buy one and take one. Food wasn't the part that made it great. The service was the great part. Our server was Joe. He took great care of us and had a great attitude.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
