Coffee was good, i liked my breakfast too, no my Alex, not so much. He had the chorizo burnt, and doesn't want to come back. I do agree with him on the hashbrowns, they were soaked in grease and mushy and huge amounts of them. The only thing i liked was my omelet. The biscuits are ginormous, i can't eat because of my allergy to gluten. points for the non-dairy flavored creamer, so lets do the math here...minus a star for the burnt chorizo, minus another star for the really bad hashbrowns, add a star for the flavored creamer and another for my descent omelet, but over all, minus another star because my Alex wasn't happy with his breakfast. That was the only way to figure out how to rate Mike & Ronda's The Place. Place was super busy, i don't get it, i feel there is no need for the amount of food they put on one plate, hence the reason why humans are overweight Sorry to say, we won't be back.

We had high expectations coming in based on many of the local recommendations. Pancakes were very good, The biscuits are huge. The chorizo omelette was awesome. The hashbrowns were a bit disappointing due to the thickness of the serving. The outside was crisp but the inside too soft. This place was crazy busy Saturday morning

This place is usually our go to when we are super hungry. Portions are huge, prices are great. Service is USUALLY good. Have had a few servers that were having bad days. You used to be regulars Here's my beef.... its dirty. This place is ALWAYS busy. Would it kill you to revamp your bathroom with some of the proceeds? The ladies room is 1 and a half stalls. If you sit on the toilet, your knees hit the door, and ladyies FORGET about hovering. There isnt enough room to turn around. It is always filthy in the bathroom. Even worse, the bathroom and kitchen entrance are in the same hallway. Puddles linking the 2 Good place for a large meal, but dont look at the walls or floor. My tip: put some pride into your work place.

I love this place! Everything about it is perfect. The portions are HUGE so be prepared to ask for a to go box because you'll need it. The food is delicious and has that "grandmas kitchen" type feel to it. My favorite is the breakfast burrito, but I'm always torn between that and the chicken fried steak.

Bad food, bad environment. Very dirty and outdated, bathrooms are filthy. Food is nothing special, large portions and greasy. Wouldn't recommend. TIP: The other location on Milton is half decent, very good breakfast burritos!

Perfect road stop! Fast and friendly service - and good diner food! I'll be back. Nothing but praises from my table!

Oh wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I still dream of Mike & Rhonda's. $3 breakfast with two eggs, two sausages, huge, enormous, beautiful hash browns and your choice of toast, pancakes, or biscuits and gravy. Get the hell out of here. This was the original greasy spoon. Fast...semi-friendly service for wicked cheap. Don't try to park yourself in your seat or they'll raise the prices on us!!

Rude, perfunctory service. Today, Feb 9, at the east side location, I experienced the most appalling racist behavior toward a high school Navajo basketball team and their families. Never, never again. Ignorant, loud, rude, racist staff - not appealing, to say the least. Edited: Thanks to the racist who emailed me abusive and threatening comments after posting this. Edit 2: I am told that the East Location and the West Location have different owners. This review applies to the East location only.

Had breakfast here and it was good! The biscuits were huge and fluffy, the waffles tasty, the eggs were moist and the potatoes were crispy, hot, and seasoned well. Serving sizes are huge and is a bargain for the price. I've had better, but this wasn't shabby at all. I'd come back to eat here again just because of the biscuits!

We ate breakfast at the Milton Street location. Service was fast and friendly. I got the sirloin strips platter. 7 oz sirloin (good quality), 2 eggs, hash browns plus bread - I chose biscuits and gravy. All for $11. The biscuits are enormous! Think of a very thick hamburger bun but as a biscuit. They were very light. Everything was delicious, and our food was on the table within 10 minutes of ordering. Our waitress stopped by to check on us several times with a coffee pot in hand. Great food and the prices were very reasonable. Very homey atmosphere.

This is not the correct place I left the good review for that was the one on Milton. This place the manager/server Christina was rude and disrespectful. Will not be coming here again EVER!!! Rather drive the extra five minuets for the friendlier service and better tasting food.

Nice place in a shopping center close to the hotel we stayed in. A wide selection of food and breakfast served all day. Had their double cheeseburger. Very good and too much for me. Several sides to choose from; potato salad, coleslaw, and more. Please stop by for a meal if you are on Flagstaff. Just very good.

Fantastic breakfast! Great staff. My stomach is on East Coast time when I come to Flagstaff, so I love that they are open and cheery at 5am.

While studying the menu, the waitress shared with us the skillet special. It was all we needed to hear! We closed our menus and both ordered the skillets for $6.25 each. Huge servings, a pancake on the side (my wife got toast with hers) and we were plenty full when it was all said and done. Terrific food, great waitresses, large portions, and value price too. Exactly what we were looking for.

This place is pretty good. I typically come here to grab breakfast when I come through Flag. They have good service and pretty good food. Everything on the walls is for sale so get ready to buy a saw blade with an epic mountain scene painted on it.

Worst breakfast experience. First the waitress forgot our drinks. Then when the food came out it was not even close to hot. Maybe lukewarm. The toast wasn't toasted it was stale and old. I ordered the extreme platter. The country potatoes were also stale. The cheese wasn't melted and some of the veggies we're under cooked. The only thing that came out hot was the hot chocolate when we eventually reminded out server. I have never had an issue before but this experience makes me not want to come back in the future.

Food- quantity is more than enough! Quality is about 3/5 nothing here that your gonna write home about lol maybe the size of hash browns! Service- let's be clear the west side m&r is great they are kind to EVERYONE and will check on you to make sure everything is right. The east side is one of the most racist restaurants I've been to here in Flagstaff. I do not recommend if you are anything other than white.

Visiting from California and we stopped by here to get some country breakfast. Staff is super friendly and personable, constantly checking up to make sure we have full drinks and everything is going good. Ordered the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy and my boyfriend ordered the hungry man. SO MUCH FOOD! And for such a great price! The biscuits were huge and I love that they put the gravy on the side so if you don't finish and wanna take it home it's not soggy. All you can eat pancakes, French toast, or waffles for $5!? Hell yeah! Large menu, plenty to choose from, lots of seating, large cups, and a relaxed vibe. Just what we wanted for breakfast. Will come back if we visit again. Much better than the hipster joints downtown IMO.

I love coming to this place to eat breakfast with my mom, it's so good and the amount of food that you're served for the amount your paying is definitely a good deal, as well as just the atmosphere of "The Place" (haha funny) the staff is great when serving, and the amount of room and place to sit also swell, I'm a huge fan of their hungry man meal, I'm usually full before I can finish the plate. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast if you're near it and would like a good meal.

Came on father's day! Place was jamming... Staff was working very hard to make everyone happy! We enjoyed beerfest in flagstaff the day before so the gut busting food is just what I needed.

My family from Phoenix finally learned there lesson on choosing this place every time they come to visit. Somehow they always felt the food was good, probably because the portions are huge. but personally I like my food served hot, seasoned properly, and not swimming in enough grease to supply a pig catching contest. This time the service and food were so bad they all agreed never again. My sisters-in law were served under cooked omelets, my brother-in law was complaining about the weak coffee and my biscuits and gravy must have been in the fridge for an hour or two they were so cold. I don't know who keeps rating both Mike and Ronda's and The Place so highly, maybe they are just nostalgic for the days when both of these places were great places for breakfast and lunch, who knows, I sure don't. 20 years ago these restaurants were wonderful, now they are just a sad shell of what used to be. Save your money and go to Denny's or IHOP, this coming from someone who believes in supporting local establishments. unfortunately The Place no longer deserves such support.

This place had its ups and downs on a busy Saturday morning. While the fluffy and tasty biscuits were each large enough for a family of four, the multi-grain pancakes were mealy and bitter. Greeted and seated instantly, but both of the greeters' clothes were visibly soiled. Quick service, possibly because they were constantly yelling what servers and greeters needed across the dining room to staff in the kitchen. Eggs were perfectly cooked, but contained a sliver of melted plastic. Two stars instead of one because the bacon was thick, generous, and crispy, and the diced potatoes were lightly seasoned and well cooked. The coffee did not disappoint, served in classic diner mugs, accompanied by vanilla creamer, and constantly topped off.

  • Theresa G.

Totally worth the stop. Good servixe, and really enjoyed all the food. The pancakes were fluffy, eggs cooked perfectly and harsh browns were crunchy on top and soft throughout.

    (4)
  • Lisa V.

Really friendly staff and fast service, but the front door and windows were really dirty, and first impressions are everything. The food was okay. The cheese on my huevos ranchero did not melt and that spells fake cheese. My husband did like his corned beef hash.

Delicious food. Huge portions. Crowds of locals and tourists alike mean you may have to park uphill, but at least the parking is free.

BRING YOUR APPETITE!!! Jesus, I ordered the small Chicken Fried Steak, and I'm pretty sure I still got a whole flock of chickens. Food was excellent and pletiful, this place will NOT disapoint.

Love everything since I've been going here. You will never have an empty cup of coffee or soda or tea. Service is great.

  • Joey S.

This place is 5 star! A 4.99 two-egg breakfast with more hashbrowns than I have ever seen and two massive biscuits and gravy is unreal. The Place is native and I may have been the only paleface there, but I left stuffed, with a doggy bag filled and all my hair! Anytime you find yourself heading down Route 66 or I-40 in Flagstaff, then this is a must stop. You'll talk about it and miss it for years to come.

    (5)
  • Mike H.

Nothing fancy here, just a good honest meal at a great price. I've never been let down with the food. The portions are generous and usually give me a food coma for a couple hours afterward. Bacon Bacon Bacon Bacon BAAAAAACON!!! Om Nom Nom. There's usually a line out the door during peak times, but that's how you know it's worth the wait!

    (5)
  • Jenn N.

It's definitely a quantity over quality kind of place. You won't leave hungry, but you won't leave feeling like you had the best meal either. The Flagstaff locals must like that, because it's always packed. Even though it's not my favorite place to eat, it doesn't stop me from bringing visitors here for breakfast, because everyone is amazed by the size of the biscuits. They don't taste like much, but they are big!

  • Dan F.

I was raised on Mike & Ronda's breakfasts. So this place holds a special place in my heart. For many years of growing up it has been a local favorite for good consistent food where I typically would order the usual: coffee, eggs, hash browns, toast, bacon and juice. Still a staple lineup to this day. I cannot help but give this place a five star review based on how much they've helped me wake up so many days in so many ways!

    (5)
  • Brian M.

Chicken fried steak and biscuits with gravy- great stuff. Staff was friendly and courteous. Only criticism was that the coffee was sub par at best- I think I got the bottom of the pot.

My fam and I stopped off at Mike and Ronda's on a road trip from Texas to Cali. It was very early and dark, so we had a little trouble finding the place. We had to call back a couple times because we couldn't find the place. Turns out it was right in front of us. Anyway, the girl we were talking to on the phone didn't get frustrated at our multiple calls, so that was a good start. She also ended up being our waitress. Yes, this place is a diner. Yes, there ads on the tables. No that doesn't bother me... because it's a diner. I got the Arizona omelette which was real good. Portions are very generous. I don't think I even touched the pancakes that came with the meal because I was too full. My kids loved their pancakes though. I got the country potatos and my wife got the hash browns. I would get the hash browns in the future if I ever make it back. Our server Kris was very friendly and had a great attitude. It also was pretty close off I-40, which was nice. Prices were reasonable as well.

Looking for a quick simple diner breakfast with good pricing and lots of food, on par with Denny's or IHOP? This is The Place (ha ha, I crack myself up!). We stayed at a motel down the street after doing the Grand Canyon and I sifted through reviews to find this place because I couldn't deal with another powdered egg free breakfast. It is in a strip mall by CVS, not immediately visible to the street. We got seated immediately, the staff was super friendly and sweet to my kids. Prices were amazing! Like $1.70 for my kid's Mickey Mouse pancake (50 cents more for whipped cream) and it was HUGE. I got an omelet with a piece of french toast; it came with hash browns. Also huge! My son got the All you can eat French toast for $4.99 (he couldn't eat more than his initial serving, which was 6 pieces). It came out really fast, too.

This place is a bit of a zoo and a little bit tricky to find. It's situated in a strip mall and has a very small little sign. It is well loved by the locals from the amount of business that is in there all of the time. If you don't mind a lot of noise while you eat then you'll be okay here. The portions are huge here especially the biscuits and gravy which are fresh made. The biscuits are almost the size of a softball! I thought all the food was decent, but not as good as something like Cracker Barrel for instance. The real benefit to coming here is the value for the amount of food that you get which is a lot. We ordered the short stack of pancakes and had enough for three people! All in all the service was swift and efficient and it filled our stomachs. I would eat here again but would not rave about the food or anything.

I am a frequent visitor to this location because it's always been consistent. My brother and his wife were in town watching my kids and wanted to take them for brunch. While trying to find a seat with my special needs daughter (who can be picky at time) the lady who turned out to be the manager Christina yelled across the restaurant to them and told them they can't sit in those booths. The sign says seat yourself and has every time I've ever been there. Next time how about politely walking over to the GUEST and asking them to move if you don't want those particular booths sat. Unfortunately this location has lost my business for good. I love supporting local business but not at the price of humiliation.

By far the worst wings I ever had. Hot Sauce just poored over a pile of pre-fried and microwaved before serving....

    (1)
  • Chris H.

Food is always great, sometimes service can back up, but that never effects food quality! This is a regular stop for us!

    (4)
  • David S.

Excellent service and huge portions. Especially for the price. It is not the best food I've ever had but for the price and size it's worth it. The coffee is excellent though.

I've eaten at the Milton and Glendale locations far more than I could ever count, but I just wound up at the Route 66 Mike and Ronda's for the first time. The patrons are similar to the group close to NAU, but it leans slightly more toward families and truckers than the college crowd, but there's still a wide selection of everyone. The waitresses still chew gum, call you "sweetheart", and put their hands on your shoulders. You half expect to see them wearing badges proclaiming their names "Babs" and "Sunshine". The digs are certainly much nicer here. Out of the three locations, it's by far the nicest. Cheap, delicious food. I'm picky about hash browns and tend to hate breakfast food, but Mike and Ronda's can always do it for me. The waffles are amazing, the hash browns amazing, the bacon thick-cut and less greasy than one would expect. I'm hungry. I think a morning trip to 51st Avenue and Bell may be a necessity.

  • Katie C.

I feel like Denny's might even be a safer bet. But, for late night drunk food this is the place(besides Primo's which is way better). Don't order pancakes with strawberries it will be a mistake. You can taste the can. Plus, expect loud annoying people.

    (1)
  • Dean D.

Decent place, your standard diner food. I do love the biscuits, which are huge, served with gravy. Service is quick and the prices are very reasonable. If you need a place for a quick bite, The Place is the the place.

  • Kristina A.

It is unfortunate that less than a one star rating is unavailable. After waiting nearly half an hour to be seated, it took an additional twenty minutes to receive beverages. The entirety of the visible wait staff were too busy spending twenty minutes bussing three tables than they were providing service to customers. The coffee station near the table was put to good use as my husband had to retrieve his own refill after waiting for some inkling of service. The food took 75 minutes and is mediocre at best. The hashbrowns had no crispness to them. I ordered my egss scrambled for fear they would be cooked incorrectly by incompetent staff and the biscuits, which is the reason we went, were in no way light and fluffy. They were dense and had packaged gravy to go with the. My food was so lacking in flavor, I added salt, pepper, and tabasco to make it edible. If the food had at least been good without random, unidentifiable particulates in both my and my husbans plate, perhaps the terrible waitress and length of time would have been worth the wait.

  • Rebecca S.

yup, my chorizo breakfast burrito was yummy. they made it with the exact fillings i requested (egg, chorizo, cheddar, green chiles, spinach and sour cream if you must know). there was definitely more chorizo than there was egg, and that's fine by me. hashbrowns were cold in the middle, like they hadn't griddled 'em long enough. i snagged a bite of my husband's biscuit and was wholly impressed. i liked that a lot. mike and ronda's is a good value, with plenty of breakfast options under $6. service was chipper and swift. when i go back, i may not hesitate to go in my pajamas ... many other patrons did and i was a bit jealous. i like mike and ronda's. i'd like it better with hot hashbrowns.

  • Sarah L.

Both times I've eaten here I've gotten really bad indigestion about 30 minutes later. The eggs are always gross and the hash browns are always burnt. It's really ass cheap, though and they have these really sugary and delicious cold coffee drinks. It's tacky and cheap and open 24 hours Thursday through Saturday I believe. The Place serves its purpose but I avoid it.

    (1)
  • Chris S.

Great place to go when your super hungry! Great for Diner style food, good fast service, portion sizes are huge and prices are reasonable. Menu is a bit hard to figure out, they just randomly added new items on miscellaneous pages. So you might miss something by only seeing part of the breakfast menu for example, cause there are 3 more sections randomly mixed in that have breakfast items.

    (4)
  • Christopher R.

Awesome, as always, Mike and Rhonda, you've a dynasty. Love, in food, always. Chris.

The next time I am fueling up for a long distance lumber hauling expedition I will know exactly where to go. I don't know what is scarier the amount of food they gave us or that we ate so much of it ... This is one of those classic big breakfast/ biscuits and gravy / clog your arteries places. In other words big eating for big people. I am not sure the taste was as phenomenal as the sizes but it certainly hit the sopt and kept us sated for most of the day . Watch out for the biscuits they are as big as a dog house and you get two of them!! Split a breakfast is the way to go.

    (4)
  • Carisa W.

I ordered the turkey dinner, it was basically an open sandwich on white bread swimming in gravy, gross. The mash potatoes got lost on the plate and in my mouth, no flavor. The service was great but the silverware nasty. I would skip this local establishment it's gotten too big for its own good.

    (2)
  • Jessica P.

Love The Place! This is their second location... and the servers here are just a little crazy. They yell at each other for not refilling the coffee and then they sing at each other and play pranks. It's entertaining. Always love their food... and they have GREAT prices. Great for breakfast after a night of drinking.

  • Parikshith K.

I love this place, it is one of mine and my wife's favorite breakfast places. Good quantity, good quality and reasonably priced. We have had great service every time we went here.

    (4)
  • Jerica N.

There are ads for taxidermy on the table: that should have been my first clue. The proportions are huge, but the food isn't very flavorful. Everything seems to be cooked in the same puddle of bacon grease. Plus, the servers make you feel rushed by firing off questions and then dashing back to the kitchen. It tried to be a Midwest style cafe, but failed miserably.

    (2)
  • Heather V.

I grew up eating at this restaurant. The last time I was there was 2 years ago, and before that visit it had to have been over 8 years. It was as good as I remember it. The Biscuits and Gravy are huge and amazing, and their Pancakes (m personal favorite) fill the entire plate and then some, but the favorite thing to order is the Hot Chocolate, it is rich, creamy, and comes with tons of whipped cream! This has to be one of the best places to have breakfast in town!

    (5)
  • Hope S.

If I lived in Flagstaff, AZ: I could easily make this a regular breakfast spot. James & I stopped here for a lunch-time breakfast on our cross-country trip just on the blind faith that my GPS wasn't lying about there being a diner where we found. (It lies to me a lot) It was delicious, no complaints. GREAT PRICES! And we got to listen an awkward first date conversation at the booth right next to us. HAHA

  • Annabelle N.

Full disclosure: I am extremely picky when it comes to breakfast. Full disclosure pt 2: You don't have to be extremely picky about breakfast to dislike half-frozen strawberries gracing your pancakes. It was cheap, and there was much food to be had, so at least that's working in The Place's favor. And the bacon was decent...not horrible, but not awesome either. Bad bacon can really ruin a breakfast. My boyfriend seemed much more pleased with his selection of a "grand slam"-esque meal than I was with my pancakes and fruit (see half-frozen note above). In any case, neither of us left hungry, so The Place did accomplish the main goal. But I feel no pressing need or desire to ever make my way back.

  • Barbara H.

Staying here for a week, and The Place is our favorite for breakfast. Hubby, like there eggs and toast, oatmeal, and Benedict. I ordered 1 biscuit/gravy and 1 egg. All was great, and the biscuit is wonderful. Nothing was greasy, the older we get the greasy doesn't set well I. The tummy. Wd give them 5 stars, but they need to wash windows and entry doors.

    (4)
  • Jessie R.

The staff here wasn't the friendliest of people. The food wasn't the greatest either, but it was super cheap and worth the price.

    (3)
  • Bryan G.

The atmosphere was quintessential local diner. We sat ourselves and our mother/daughter server duo were brash but efficient. They were messing around and yelling to each other across the restaurant. It all just added to the charm of the meal. The food was hearty and plentiful, I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were enormous and the gravy was creamy and filled with chunks of sausage. The food was uncomplicated and straightforward, just how I like my breakfast.

    (4)
  • David L.

The Place, East Side, the servers here are the best, the place gets busy at times and if you need a coffee refill just yell at your waitress, you'll fit right in with the regulars, chances are your cup will stay full without asking. Their bacon/sausage/ham and eggs with a huge portion of hash browns or country potatoes and your choice of biscuits and gravy (a meal by their self) or pancakes (they fill the entire plate) or choice of toast, you will leave stuffed. The menu gives you plenty to chose from, breakfast, lunch or supper and the mix of the regular locals from all walks of life is a true testament that all are welcome.

    (5)
  • Erica L.

Do not go here, it was horrible. Service not good, coffee not good, and they messed up all the meals that morning, even a bagel :(

  • Gregory L.

Wow ... many negative reviews ... wouldn't have expected that based on the number of people I always see there. Go figure The place: In a strip mall along old route 66 in eastern Flagstaff. The interior is unassuming - many tables and chairs, lots of big rounds for big crowds. There is a bar towards the back where people can sit and be served. The food: Greasy, tons of quantity. The name of the game is food that sticks to your ribs. This is not a posh, healthy, newage restaurant. It's a diner ... that servers what diners serve ... good, greasy food. I do think they give you WAY too much in the way of hash brown potatoes ... but hey, some people like potatoes. The eggs are eggs, the biscuits are ridiculously large, the pancakes are good, the waffle is good, the coffee is good, and constantly being refilled, and the bacon is thick cut and crispy. The bottom line: If you want to fill up on the cheap and don't mind the environs, head to Mike & Rondas.

When I was a college student at NAU, if I was able to get my lazy ass up before 10 a.m., I always loved going to Mike & Rhonda's for breakfast. It's a simple diner that serves decent food quickly and at an affordable price, which for college students means a meal for under $5. For breakfast, you always got HUGE portions and it was considered a feat to be able to clean off your plate. The ambiance is unfussy at best -- no pretense needed. Professors, students, truckers, granolas and tourists all mingle around the commonality that The Place's down-home diner cooking brings. P.S.: If you didn't already know, there is a Mike & Rhonda's in Glendale. It's doesn't have that same je ne sais quoi that the original has, but it is still a great place to go for a big breakfast. yelp.com/biz/mike-and-rh…

The food is absolutely good. The portions are very large. The price is very reasonable. The staff is very friendly and accurate with your order and they make sure they come back and check on you to make sure everything is to your satisfaction. I will return.

This is one if those places us locals flock too. Come hungry leave happy. The food is delicious and the servings are massive. I'm a fan if the chucked fried steak and eggs with their enormous biscuits and gravy.
