Do not believe the negative comments on this place. It is a good burger bar and the cleanliness is second to none. Just watch how the staff change their gloves throughout the shift. Good burgers and fries and you can make your own burger so it does not come covered with tasteless cheese if you want to taste the meat in the burger. Great stuff!

Good and fast service. I ordered one little fries, got a big portion big enough to feed 2 person. One bad thing about it is that the fries are a tad bit salty. Will most likely stop by again whenever I visit Flagstaff next.

I honestly feel like this is the most overrated burger restaurant in Flagstaff. The prices are way too high for what you actually get (I spent over $9 for a single burger and fries), and the burgers themselves aren't very good and the fries are ridiculously greasy.

Check your order before leaving. First visit to a Five Guys anywhere and they get the order wrong. Ordered a burger with bacon (costs extra), grilled onions, pickles and BBQ sauce, came home with a burger with grilled onions and pickles. Annoying even under more forgivable circumstances, but this at 7:30 at night with only three other customers in the restaurant and seven employees behind the counter (Seven. Plus two more in the dining area), not to mention an expensive menu... very disappointing. An otherwise tasty burger--missing toppings notwithstanding--earns a begrudged second star. UPDATE 2/27/12: Left the same feedback on the Five Guys website and received an email from the regional manager apologizing for my negative experience and an offer to make up for it. Gave him a call and he told me to return to the restaurant for a free meal. Stopped by this weekend with a copy of the email thinking I would have to explain the situation, but the store manager had already been contacted and knew me by name. He was very friendly and apologetic and indeed offered to comp me a meal, even going so far as to urge me to get the larger sizes of the items I ordered. No hassles, no hesitation... in fact, I was treated with the utmost respect and consideration. That level of attention to customer satisfaction seems like the exception more and more these days, and not the norm. I've changed my rating as though the original mistake never occurred.

The burgers are great and hot from the grill. The Cajun fries were well seasoned and hot from the oil. I love hot food with flavor and this place did not disappoint. Enough said...

I've been to many a Five Guys across the great land that is the US of A. I've always known the burgers to be juicy, and the fries to be numerous. So when the large fry that I ordered for my party of seven turned out to be a small fry, I said "WTF?". The paper bag should be overflowing with fries when you order a regular fry at Five Guys, so when you drop $5 on a LARGE fry, it should look like a half dozen potatoes have been bathed in peanut oil and put into a large grocery bag. Exaggerating a lil bit, possibly, but not much. A brief conversation with a staffer and the manager, Juan, quickly corrected this oversight and brought the fry count into proper proportion for us. That's why I go to Five Guys as much as for the deliciousness and taste of home. It's the consistency. I don't think I will be able to drive into Flag without stopping here.

Been coming here on & off for over a year now...appreciate the good customer service but love the handmade patties which are flat grilled. They are prepared with your choice of toppings with the option of adding a beverage and/or fries. No frills. Simple. Retro diner atmosphere.

Great staff who was very helpful and patient in helping my kids order. Food was hot and fresh. We love Five Guys, and this one certainly didn't disappoint.

I came here with my boyfriend a couple days ago, the regular bacon cheese burger "all the way" was really good, and (gasp!) better than In and Out. Why only 4 stars? It was really loud, really expensive for fast food ($17 bucks for 2 bacon burgers and 1 small fry) and I ordered my burger lettuce wrapped because I eat low carb and it was not as good as In and Outs lettuce wrapped burger. On the up side, the fry's were waaaay better than In and Out, the "small" was a generous portion, and like I said the taste I had of my boyfriends regular burger was definitely better than In and Out.

This restaurant is brand new to the Flagstaff scene, and was jam packed on my first visit. I am glad to see a location so close to NAU. I have been to 5 Guys before, and was pleased with the quality of my fries and Bacon Cheese Dog with grilled onions, and my husband enjoyed his Cajun Fries and Burger. There were still management folks walking around and hashing out improvements, so I have high hopes. We encountered an extremely high noise level. I would not recommend going here just yet, to Combat Vets or folks with hearing aides. (I have both in my family.) The music needs to be turned down, so that the staff does not have to yell so loudly over it, to each other, and to customers. It would also be extremely difficult to navigate a wheelchair or walker through the crowd, and tight isles, however, I am sure that customers and staff would make way for any guests with mobility issues. I hope they install a screen display for completed order numbers, to eliminate the screaming. It seems management was already discussing a better floor plan. I look forward to returning and seeing improvements, since the staff was so friendly and helpful, and the food was indeed scrumptious.

I am a fan of the five guys, and this location is as impressive as any. Very nice customer service, they made a great burger (really great, these are my fav types of burgers) good fries (maybe could have used a minute more in the fryer)... :)

I was disappointed, truly unimpressed by this place. Upon entering, I was hit by a large waft of heat-filled greasy air; moving past that and the large sacks of potatoes and peanuts, my husband and I were kindly greeted by the staff and I will say customer service was immediately good; the staff is very informative. We ordered our burgers & [cajun] fries and were on our way to waiting. The fries were HUGE & delicious, the burgers were underwhelming with soggy buns. I ordered a small bacon cheese bbq burger; the meat patty was greasy-thin, bacon was burnt, bun had a smudge of bbq sauce and the bun was grease-soaked. My husband's burger fell apart as he tried to eat it...very messy eating, maybe they should serve their fully loaded burgers in a bowl. I loved the fries and my Barq's Rootbeer. If you have a peanut allergy, don't eat here- they use peanut oil to cook and have roasted peanuts available at the door while you wait to order... Recommendation to Five Guys Owners: get a better vent/hood system for the restaurant to vent out all that grease and heat. I hate walking out of a restaurant stinking like a grease ball french-fried burger.

First time to try this place. I am a big time In & Out Burger fan, who I also give a five star rating to. We only had the cheeseburger and a hamburger and we both think they were excellent for a chain. For flavor, the meat was better and juicier, but I think the extras were better at In & out. At 5 guys, there were many more choices (and they were good) but I think the burgers at in & out are fresher and better. I just hope they never put an In & Out across the street from 5 guys, because I would hate to sit in my car trying to make a decision.

Originally from VA, I'm pretty partial to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. My favorite thing to get here is a bacon cheese dog with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and ketchup. MMM good! I first tried out the Flagstaff 5 Guys yesterday, around 2pm. The place wasn't extremely busy, but there were at least 7 groups sitting down eating. I waited about 4-5 minutes for my BC dog (which I don't mind doing, at least you see it getting made fresh for you!) The fries are good, too. Only thing is that it's hard to eat them all by yourself, so bring a friend! I'm giving it 4 stars because this location seemed really noisy and loud. (see previous posts regarding this same issue.)

This place makes a good burger, and good fries (as long as thick, not too crunchy fries are your thing; I enjoyed them but they weren't my favorite style). The burger was delicious, and the whole meal cost about what I would expect for what I got. It's a made to order carryout burger place, so ~$10 for my meal is what I would expect; more than a fast food chain, less than a sit-down restaurant. The disclaimer I put here, there are at least two alternatives to Five Guys in Flag that are better in my opinion: For a similar wait and maybe slightly higher price, Diablo Burger is a much better, more gourmet burger with better (very thin) fries. For a similar taste and a little lower price, I prefer Freddie's Steakburger. Again, their fries are thinner and better.

Pro: Really really good food. Really good burgers. Good customer service. Con: Prices are way too high. That definitely is the reason why I've only gone once in my two years of living in Flag.

Stopped in after our drive up from Phoenix. Five Guys is basically a fast food joint, just better quality. The food is made to order with burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. I had their burger which was good. Their fries weren't too bad either but I prefer skinny, extra crispy. Their fries have a thicker cut. The food came out hot and quick. It's not a place I'd crave but I would certainly go again. It's better than Mcdonald's.

It's been years since I ate at a Five Guys while vacationing in the east. Right when they opened up, things were a mess. You could not find a table and when you did, it was dirty. The fries were way undercooked as well, but now that things newness has tapered off and they've found their comfort zone, things are better. Their cheesburger is a double and HUGE with the endless toppings you can put on it, so I recommend the little cheeseburger which is a single. The works on your burger includes choices like grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, green peppers, bacon, A-1, BBQ sauce, hot sauce and jalepenos to name a few. I still order the fries well done as they seem to come out a little on the undercooked side. They also have peanuts available for you to munch on! I remember this from back east and it's funny, they still announce your arrival...one in the door, two in the door, etc. The burger is tasty and I would give 4 stars if they were not so pricey! $9 for a single cheeseburger, fries and drink is expensive, but I'll be back...just not as often as I would with better prices!

I should have known not to order a grilled cheese at a burger joint, but hey I wasn't in my right mind. To make a boring story short. I ordered two grilled cheese, two drinks, and a large fry for myself and a friend. Only had to wait a few minutes and my order was up. Opened up my grilled cheese and found instead cold cheese slices between inside out buns. My thoughts WTF? Needless to say I was not happy. I know the place was busy but really? I ordered a grilled cheese, if they don't know what that is they should probably take it off the menu. Never again will I order a grilled cheese at a fast food burger place. To all grilled cheese lovers BEWARE of Five Guys!

I usually don't like burgers very much or tend to be very disappointed with them but this place exceeded my expectations. I really love their burgers they taste homemade to me. People see this as a replacement for in-n-out and I don't understand that because I don't like in-n-out but I do like this place. Yes I know, I'm like the only person ever that doesn't like in-n-out but like I said I don't usually like burgers at all. The workers were nice and patient and I don't remember the fries so they must have been just in the middle.

Good grief that's a big burger! The only problem with these burgers is that there is too much going on to keep them on the bun! I paid just under $10 for a double meat burger with all the choices I wanted and the most obscene amount of fries ever. I paid under $10 for lunch and thus dinner because of what I couldn't finish. The meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the fries were delish! Very pleasantly surprised to find that this just isn't another chain. It's going to be tough not to frequent the place!

I did not like the burgers at all. Was visiting from California. In and Out is much much much better. Even McDonalds is better.

We stopped here on our way back home from the Grand Canyon for lunch on Monday. I've been to Five Guys before in Phoenix and was unimpressed by it then. (Being an Arizona girl who goes to California every year I definitely prefer In-n-Out). This time around I decided to order a hot dog and fries (just the regular ones not the cajun ones). The hot dog was good but the fries left something to be desired. About a third of the fries that were in the cup were under-done. I would have probably had a better meal at the Burger King or McDonalds that were across the street for half the price.

This was my first Five Guys Burger and Fries experience and I went in with few expectations. Full disclosure- I'm not a big burger or fries fan but I was game to try a new Flagstaff food option and all my coworkers were excited and wanted to go. I opted for the little cheeseburger after learning the regular had two patties. The regular order of fries is huge and the large is ridiculous but they were kind enough to inform us of their large portions before we ordered. Even so, we were drowning in fries with 3 regular orders split among five people. It's always nice to order fries from a restaurant where bags of potatoes are waiting to be slaughtered everywhere you look but the fries (both cajun and regular) were nothing that would motivate me to order them again. The burger was tasty enough with a slice of american cheese and the unexpectedly free grilled mushrooms. Overall I'd prefer the Five Guys burger over Freddy's (unless you want a shake or sundae) in town but would always prefer Diablo Burger if given the choice. I give them credit for being on the ball their first day open. There were clearly tons of corporate people huddled in the corner and, based on my experiences with the employees, I hope the gave them all praise for their performance on the their first day open. I imagine that the proximity to NAU will guarantee brisk business and Five Guys seems set up to handle it. It's unlikely that I'll return, but those with a love affair for burgers and fries will possibly feel different.

The food is a 5, the place sucks unless you are 19 and enjoy laughing as loudly as possible at anything mundane and stupid. But who cares, you will be in a blissful state of burger euphoria in which nothing, not even the most annoying, keg tapping, bong smoking, porn watching, date raping, future republican can interrupt. Enjoy, deprive yourself of potatoes for awhile because the the smallest order of fries is 17 potatoes chopped and fried and dumped in your bag.

Even with 4 people in the kitchen it still took a long time to cook my food. Burgers are ok. Fries are good. Wear a bib it gets messy. The burgers are thick and messy. The small order of fries serves 3-4 people FYI. I do not like the idea that I am paying for everyone of the toppings even if I get minimal toppings. That's how they do it so I have to accpet it. Give it a try at least once. I've seen a lot on TV about 5 guys.

I don't get what all the hype is about... Expensive, GREASY, FAT BALL FILLED hamburgers and fries and you can put all kinds of crap on top. You'll go broke eating here once a week! I'd rather cook my own at home and save $50.00!

Not as good as In N Out, but better than most big chains.

I'm in pain! Went to 5 guys today at noon and ordered a cheese burger and fries. Never did I imagine so much food. I'm a very healthy eater to the sorrow of my doctor, but this time I couldn't eat it all. Course the bill was $12.00. That should have been a signal but I didn't know the bill until my order was in. The cheese burger was very good. The regular size french fries were enormous. The CB was so thick I couldn't get my mouth around it hardly. Stuff started oozing out the other side. It was a burger with two patties and cheese. Delicious. The fries came in a big regular drinking cup. There were twice as many fries spilled around on my burger. The whole order comes in a paper bag reguardless of whether you eat in or take out. This is the first time I can remember where I threw some of the food away. I was stuffed. Now, 5+ hours later, I'm still stuffed. Would eat here again BUT I would only order a burger with no fries or just fries but not the two together unless I had three other people to share the fries with. Since this was my first time, I didn't know they gave away roasted peanuts and didn't spot them until I was on my way out. Didn't matter though, I had no place to put them except in my pants pockets which were the only part of me that was empty. Would I eat here again? You bet!

Good food, especially the vinegar for the fries. Busy but the line moves fast.
