For all us common folk, this is about as close as it's EVER going to get to having your own personal gourmet chef and in an atmosphere that probably could not be more intimate. Abbie's has a pretty simple menu with everything lovingly homemade using fresh (many organic and locally sourced) ingredients. The tiny home converted to a cozy little restaurant could not seat more than probably 20 inside and possiblY another 10 outside. We starTed with some delicious crab cakes served over corn. A plate of fresh veggies and bread also came out. These are not your Mom's veggies that you turned your nose up at when you were a kid: fresh raw green beans, yellow carrots and olives. Everything was fresh and crunchy and quickly devoured. Next was the organic mixed greens which came with organic romaine and a wonderful assortment of other gardenly delights served up with a baslamic vinaigrette. It was easy to be a good boy and eat all of my veggies on this particular night. My main was grass fed tenderloin perfectly grilled up medium rare and so perfectly seasoned there was not need for any kind of sauce or topping. But this was served with a dollop of the most heavenly creamy horseradish I have ever had. The tenderloin was also served with three spicy grilled shrimp seasoned with Moroccan cumin, red pepper and other seasonings which was delicious. Our bevvies consisted of some Arizona beer and a sumptuous Sangiovese also locally sourced. Our meal was too great to end at the main so we splurged and got dessert. My flourless chocolate cake was served warm with vanilla ice cream. I am NOT a fan of chocolate cake because it is usually dry and the chocolate used is crap. Not the case here. The cake is moist and has a nice hearty chocolate taste that melts in your mouth. The service is great and Abbie herself came out to see how we enjoyed our meal which we could not rave enough about. Her credentials are quite impressive and it was exciting to have the opportunity to be fed by someone of her experience and expertise. We left feeling completely satisfied with our meal, the service, the value for money and the good feeling that so many aspects of our experience resulted in supporting the local community. This is yet another gem that has popped up in the Verde Valley. One of those obscure places that folks on the East Coast will soon see on Food Network and make the trip here especially to eat at Abbie's. Definitely worth partaking in if you're going to be near Sedona, Jerome or Camp Verde.

The reviews or tips we had seen said "be prepared to wait" -- we mistook that to mean ...for a table. In fact, the tip is referencing your course/meal. The evening we went may have been especially unusual, as there was a patron that looked like a corpse, laying on the front porch waiting for the paramedics to arrive and, meanwhile, being tended to by the chef and front of house. It was unsettling, to say the least. Aside from remarks acknowledging it was really happening (and professing that it hadn't been a result of eating there), there was no accommodation made (complimentary glass of wine to take the edge off, etc.), which I thought was odd. But, we were there for dinner, not a handout. The food is cooked to order. Portions are small but reasonable and adequate. I had the duck. The meat itself was very good; however, the skin was not crispy in the slightest, and remained on my plate. Another thing we thought was odd: the dessert table which is a focal point when you arrive is absolutely tempting but it features -- uncovered -- the ACTUAL desserts. So, when our server said there were 2 slices of pie left after glancing at the table and then swiped them up right off the table to be warmed in back, it was kind of jarring. The pie was good. Unfortunately, the one-course meal ate up our entire evening (reservation was at 6:30 and it was after 8 before we were released), which kept us from visiting tasting rooms along Main Street as planned. For sure, there is a lot of pride and passion that goes into this place, and , given the time, I would consider a return.

Abbie is a lovely woman that really knows how to work with food. my wife and I went here with her parents and it was fantastic. It takes some time and definitely some money but it's well worth it. SUPPORT LOCAL!!!

A completely unacceptable experience from a place trying to offer (and charge for) higher quality dining. The food- pretty tasty. However, overshadowed by the wait for just 1 of the 2 appetizers we ordered: over 45 minutes, which could have been diffused by our server Linda if she wasn't so cold and apathetic from the get go. Then almost an hour for the second appetizer which was even smaller than the first. The restaurant itself is very charming & quaint but very disorganized and unapologetic about it. For the price ($27 for a chicken breast) and lack of sincere service we will certainly not be returning. If they were just up front from the beginning that the kitchen was behind or even tried to compensate with more than a piece of dessert that had been sitting out in view all night, we could have left with a much better taste in our mouths

We had dinner tonight at Abbie's Kitchen (third time now) and many more dinners to come. We live in Napa, CA and Cottonwood, AZ. This is by far the BEST food in either place. The atmosphere is quaint, friendly and relaxing. Some of the other reviews stated that the portions were small - not the case at all unless you eat way to much which is typical of American diets today. Fine dining isn't meant to be a buffet. It is rare to have a first class Chef make food to order with respect to allergies, food intolerances, and taste preferences...let alone take the time to talk to you personally at your table. We highly recommend Abbie's Kitchen. We eat extensively around the world for business and we know fine dining. It doesn't get better than this.

This review has been long in coming. The food, service and ambiance was amazing. It was a personal touch with everything. Time and care went into preparing the food to order. Dessert was amazing. It definitely is a little pricey, but well worth it. If you have ever been to French Laundry in the Bay Area, quite similar with a small town feel.

I was born and raised in Cottonwood, AZ and when my husband and I saw this restaurant we were intrigued and decided to try it! First of all people need to realize that this restaurant is in a small, original Old Town home and not a traditional restaurant. I like the idea, but I think it throws people off at first. We were greeted warmly by the owner and waiter. They explained that the food was all organic and as fresh as it could be. The menu is very small, but I don't necessarily think that is always a bad thing. I was disappointed though in their wine selection. They only have one white and one red served in glass portions. Otherwise you have to buy the entire bottle, and trust me, their selection is not cheap! The atmosphere inside is comfortable and relaxing, although I think they could pop it up even more and make it even more elegant. It feels like it is just about there, but missing something in the decor area. Despite this we did still feel pretty UNDER dressed (in jeans and t-shirts) but the waiter assured us that multiple said the same thing, and that he felt completely comfortable wearing jeans there himself. But over all it was very beautiful, and I'm mostly just splitting hairs here. So back to the menu. I was so amazingly surprised to find that they had foie gras on the menu! It is not something you see at ALL in this area, and I personally had never had it before. It was something I could not pass up! Since we were not overly hungry we decided to settle just on appetizers. I got the foie gras with this kind of onion jam on croustini placed on a bed of spinach. My husband opted for the crab cakes with mango corn salsa. I purchased a glass of their Arizona made red wine, although the name slips me at the moment, which was amazing! We were given this kind of tomato and herb mixture on a croustini with greek and green olives while we waited. This was a pleasant, unexpected treat that tasted great! The wait for food was not long at all, but this could be because we were literally the only dinners in the entire restaurant. We were told that normally they had quite a lot of guests, which could have been true, especially since we were there so early (about 5pm). The waiter was very friendly, and helpful. He made us laugh on numerous occasions! The food was presented on what looked like antique or vintage plates. I enjoyed the fact that their dishes were mis-matched with different colors and patterns. It made it feel more relaxed. This isnt something that most places could do, since it would make it look like they were too cheap to buy a complete set, but Abbie's was able to pull it off really well. The food turned out to be AMAZING! I really have to say that there are not many qualms I can think of here! Being the first time I had foie gras I guess I cannot compare it to other instances, but it was really was cooked so beautifully and the onion glaze on top was to die for! I did not however care too much about the spinach salad underneath of it. It had some kind of dressing that just tasted slightly off, although my husband loved it! His crap cakes, I have to say, were the best I have had! In this small town, most people dont have a clue on how to make a good crap cake, but this woman certainly does! There was no shortage on the crab, which was really fresh! It was so meaty and hearty, not overly packed with breading like other places here. And the mango corn salsa underneath was great! After our meal we decided to try a desert. I have to say if you come for nothing else, come for the desert!! I cannot remember the exact name but we ordered this chocolate cake with a rum something or other, whipped cream, ice cream, and strawberries. This was honestly one of the most decedent deserts I have ever had! I normally HATE any kind of nut in a desert, but the pecans in this was awesome! All in all I was really proud of this little place, and I have high hopes for it. Cottonwood is an unrelenting town when it comes to restaurants and I have seen many great establishments fall over the years. It is HARD to own a restaurant in this town but I am hopeful for Abbie's. My one harsh critique about it would be the prices. DO NOT come here expecting a cheap meal. Or even a decently priced meal. The prices here are not for the faint of heart. It IS however worth the prices, I just fear that the cost to eat here will not go over well for a town who doesn't like to pay too much for good food

During our Honeymoon in Sedona, my husband and I stopped by Tasting Arizona for a bit of wine sampling and ended up with some dining advice from Melissa. We discussed being disapointed in the touristy 'chain-restaurant' nature of Sedona, so she suggested we try a new little restaurant that was just opened by her friend who was a personal chef, located in the next town over. Abbie's is in a cute little house at the "Old Town" end of Cottonwood. We started with a cheese and charcuterie platter, which was lovely and included some really delicious smoked mushrooms. For dinner my husband had the lamb and I had raviolis, which temptingly advertised themselves as house-made in a sage butter sauce. Upon tasting I found them to be a bit bland and overly-starchy, and swimming in butter. The texture of the pasta was nice, but perhaps I should have tried something with different flavors. I had a bit of my husband's dish, which was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I sat watching him eat happily, filled with envy. We decided to get dessert, and for me, that was definitely the best part. It was a poached pear tart, and every aspect of it was absolutely perfect. The flaky, chewy pastry, the sweet and savory warm pear filling, and the potent vanilla bean ice cream was so good I could have eaten another portion. Our service was earnestly frirendly and very good at timing the courses. We brought a special bottle of champagne which they poured happily. The interior is pretty and we had a perfect candlelit table in the corner. All in all, a very nice night out on our Honeymoon.

If you are interested in fine dining, then you MUST stop at Abbie's Kitchen. (You'll want 1-2 hours.) My experience was thrilling and fully satisfying. The attentiveness of the staff and intensely delicious cuisine are leaps and bounds ahead of any other "Sedona hotspot". If you are in the Sedona area, or passing through Cottonwood, be kind to your self and eat the organic bliss borne from Abbie's creative mind.

Last night we had dinner at Abby's kitchen. Where to begin, as there are so many wonderful things to say about this intimate, charming, restaurant. Upon being seated you can't help but comment on the unique collectible place settings on every table that Abby has searched high and low for over the years. Our waiter, Andy was delightful and very attentive without being overbearing. He serves also as the in house bartender and prepared one of the best Lemon Drop Martinis that I have ever had. Now for dinner. Abby had her special New England clam chowder for her soup du jour and it was incredible. Not thick and creamy like one often gets with mostly potatoes. No this was light and absolutely delicious. I ordered crab cakes as an entree and asked for the fried green tomatoes to accompany them. My husband ordered the ribeye steak and fresh asparagus and baby potatoes. All I can tell you is we both loved every morsel on our plates. Desert was unforgettable, a warm lemon French toast type pound cake with ice cream and fresh strawberries. Omg is all I can say. This was fine dining at its best. Only adding to our splendid dining experience was Abby coming out of her kitchen to say hello and share in a little conversation.

We went to Abbie's at the suggestion of Dana at the Pillsbury Wine Room. Fortunately, the evening went well accept for our server who was pleasant but seemed a little off. We later found out she only works on Wednesdays which could explain some of her hesitation. The food was simply delicious. We also started off with the plate of cheese, olives and roasted garlic. Everyone enjoyed that offering from the chef. My husband and I had the crab cake-yum. That is the best way to describe that. I had the chef's special which was Chicken Marsala with home made lemon pasta and a mix of a variety of greens (mustard, swiss chard, spinach and organic green beans). It was light and not overly sauced. I would say the chicken was the best I have had in recent memory. My husband had the Salmon--cooked to perfection and served on a bed of beautiful vegetables tossed in ginger. Moving on to dessert--the flour-less chocolate torte with ice cream was definitely worth eating and the other couple in our party had the pound cake which was fried in butter served with warmed strawberry goodness with I believe ice cream and whipped cream. But wait, Abbie sent out one more treat to end the meal --home made praline candy topped with chocolate. WOW! Everyone was so friendly with their stories of how they came to the area which just added to the charm of the evening. I would recommend Abbie's if you enjoy food and a "dining experience" if you are looking for common comfort foods of a steakhouse or other prefabbed meals you are in the wrong place. My only reservation about 5 stars is the service was a little off to warrant a five star rating.

I have not been to Abbie's Kitchen yet, HOWEVER, I did have Abbie cater my husband's surprise birthday party. It was amazing. Abbie worked with me on a fabulous vegetarian menu and even a gluten free birthday cake!! She arrived right on time with her handsome son for the heavy lifting. Tables, glasses, beautiful dishes and silverware all brought by Abbie. Even flowers! The spread was huge, much more than I ever expected and guests ate to their hearts delight. All night, people were raving and the best comment was "this is the best vegetarian food I've ever had!". AND she made both white and red sangria which really kept the guests happy. I got to enjoy my guests and my party without a worry. I didn't even have to wash a dish as Abbie had it all taken care of. Thank you Abbie, it truly was a wonderful experience.

My friend and I had dinner at Abbie's Kitchen last night and, from the moment we parked the car, were treated like royalty. The service was impeccable and was trumped only by the excellent cuisine. Our dinner served as a night of entertainment: from our Cosmopolitans to our appetizers to our salads to our main course and, finally, to our desserts. We started with an appetizer of crab cakes. And, having grown up in Maryland, I was skeptical about whether Abbie could compete with what we could get in Maryland. In fact, Abbie's crab cakes were the best I ever had! We both ordered the evening's special, filet mignon, and paired it with a cabernet from Arizona Stronghold. Great combination! One of us ordered the Caesar Salad; the other ordered the mixed green salad. All of these dishes were prepared exquisitely, and it was an incredible experience to taste and savor each and every bite. Between us, we ordered three desserts (we thought ordering four would be much too decadent--although we did consider it for awhile!). We ordered the grilled pound cake with strawberries (because I never heard of grilled pound cake), a dessert that included half a pear drizzled with a combination of ingredients that resulted in magic in your mouth (because it was a special of the day), and the flourless chocolate cake (because, c'mon, we had to). All of the desserts were made from scratch by Abbie, and it's impossible to rate them--they were all delicious! Before opening her restaurant, Abbie catered for several years to the (literally) rich and famous. And last night, we felt equally pampered. Abbie uses only organic foods, and she's incredibly particular about the freshness of the foods she serves. Her menu changes enough from night to night so that you could eat there several times without ever ordering the same thing twice--though it might be tempting, since each of her dishes is perfection for the palate. Bravo, Abbie! Cottonwood is all the better for you establishing your restaurant in this small town just outside of Sedona.

Abbie is terrific. She makes great dishes, but it's her "tableside manner" that we found truly unique. You can tell that she loves what she's doing, is eager to create, and really wants you to enjoy your meal. Her menu changes often, and I doubt we'd be disappointed with anything on it. But the fun was working with her to customize the perfect meal. Rather have polenta with your duck or substitute scallops for the shrimp in the curry pasta dish? No problem. In fact, she'll suggest variations you might prefer. Share a salad or an entree? Of course, and she'll insist on plating them separately for you. It was truly a special experience, from the complimentary olive, crackers, and spread starter to the complimentary chocolate dipped strawberries. Best of the best? We'd have to pick the mushroom crepe starter and the carrot cake. Both were incredible.

My husband and I intended to drive to near by Sedona to eat during a stopover in Cottonwood Arizona-that is until we saw the reviews of Abbie's and decided to give it a try. BEST decision we could have made! I am a world traveler and have eaten some of the finest that top restaurants in NY, Paris, Venice & San Francisco can dish out, but I have to say, to date, the most memorable meal has to be the meal we had at Abbie's! Where to start? First, the cozy house that the restaurant occupies in Old Town lends the right ambiance of comfort, classy and intimate. The walls are filled with beautiful artwork and the lighting warm and inviting. Andy (?) our waitperson was very knowledgeable about the extensive wine list of Arizona wines. My husband chose a glass of the house white (a blend) and it was delish! We especially liked how attentive Andy was to our needs without us feeling that he was "hovering" over us-a true professional! Ah but the FOOD! Everything is prepared fresh and with obviously loving attention and high skill by Abbie. For starters we chose the warm wild mushroom crepes. The moaning that ensued from us while eating them was down right embarrassing and nearly uncontrollable. What a beautifully balanced delicate fungi feast!! We fought over the last forkful. Next I had a perfect Caesar salad- The kind you always hope to have at a fine restaurant but sadly rarely get. This was possibly the best Caesar salad I have ever had. Was it the lovingly shaved top quality parmesan cheese? The mouthwatering and fresh anchovies? The awesome dressing? Don't know but what a magnificent pairing of parts! My entrée was heavenly. I chose the duck breast (med rare) and scallops. Both were so tender you could cut them with a dull butter knife-and the flavors. . . I almost swooned! The accompaniment was a layered potato pie. The top layer was scalloped potatoes with a hint of onion, the next a much thicker layer of sweet potato finished with another thin layer of scalloped potatoes-all I can say is WOW. I was also served wonderful sautéed carrots. My husband had the seafood fettuccine with Moroccan sauce and a salad with beets. He loved it. Although we seldom order dessert after such a rich meal, we could not resist Abbie's offerings. We shared a huge slice of warm rhubarb pie ala mode and (I am ashamed to say) experienced a repeat of the moaning! Abbie herself steps out of the kitchen to visit with her guests and I view that as a big bonus. She is very personable and has a fascinating history. I strongly recommend Abbie's. You can get a good meal many places, a great meal once in a while but an EPIC meal like that at Abbie's possibly only once in a lifetime! Check it out.

This place is a gem. This is an intimate little place - a home converted into a restaurant; but, it still feels like a home. Really nice art on the walls. I came here with six others; we were two adult vegans, three adult omnivores and two picky children. Everyone left very satisfied, happy and laughing. It's obvious they start with fresh, local ingredients. The dishes were carefully prepared. The waiter - all the staff - was knowledgable friendly and attentive. The local wines did not disappoint; and I'm from Sonoma County, California wine country, so I can be picky about wine. I think the owners are very careful about what they bring in to their restaurant -- that goes for wine, produce, and meats. The staff seems to really enjoy what they do: providing delicious home-cooked meals, made to please. I really love this delightful, sophisticated and understated little restaurant.

One of my most pleasant and memorable dining experiences yet. My husband and I recently decided to take a trip to Sedona and after experiencing the rather unimpressive touristy eateries in uptown Sedona, opted for a more upscale and intimate dining experience for our second night. After talking with our wonderful B&B host, Irith (Sedona Views B&B- Review to come!), we went with her suggestions to dine at Abbie's Kitchen. Just a short drive from Sedona located in Cottonwood, you pull up to Abbie's and it is not a building in a strip mall nor a freestanding commercial building but an adorable little older home with candlelit tables and crisp white table cloths on the front patio. The inside of the home is warmly lit with candles and soft lighting, well spaced tables so not to feel cramped and our table had a perfect view into the kitchen. We felt like we were eating at a good friends house watching Abbie and her single sous chef working away. Our server was very personable and knowledgeable and was responsible for creating the wine list, which (along with the beer selection) is all Arizona grown and made. Our wine was temperature controlled and fabulous. Now to the best part, THE FOOD! We were served a "snack" of shaved parmesan, house infused basil olive oil on bruschetta, and olives which were good. For our first course I had the Foie gras appetizer and my husband went with the goat cheese tart topped with caramelized onions both of which were delish. For dinner my husband had tenderloin (med. rare of course) and I had the duck breast (also med. rare) with scallops and we could not believe how incredibly tender each meat was! We were pretty much silent cutting and chewing and stealing each other's food which is how we like it. For desert we had to finish out strong so my husband ordered his favorite, a n incredible and decadent flour-less chocolate cake and I delved into a grilled poundcake served with freshly whipped up whip cream! There is nothing that would have made this meal more enjoyable. Amazing food, great wine, and top notch service from the team that is Abbie's Kitchen.

Visited Sedona for a weekend and stayed at one of the BnB's in Town, Sedona Views. Over breakfast our dinner plans came up and one of the owners of the BnB started to describe local restaurants. Well Abbie's Kitchen came up after hearing about it I knew it was where we were going to be having dinner that night. You feel at home when dining at Abbie's Kitchen, the wine and beer list are made up exclusively of Arizona selections this was a great opportunity for us to try wines that we would not have otherwise. The when we were leaving the greeter shared her knowledge of some lesser known locations in the area that we had to see. It was a great dining experience worth the short drive out of mainstream tourist land Sedona.

My husband & I were very excited to try this place... And I was even more excited when I learned it was BYOB! So Dry Creek Zinfandel in hand, we entered Abbie's with high expectations. It is a cute place. That concludes the nice things I am going to say about the restaurant. When host/owner sat us she went into this LONG spiel about how the Chef cooked for queens & Kings, Madonna & I think Jesus himself! When we finally got the menus, the selection was just okay. The server then brought us a plate of olives & tiny bruschetta. At first we were delighted. But then not. Because, as we ascertained later, that was the substitute for bread! We both started w/ a mixed green & grapefruit salad that was SUPPOSED to have a mustard vinaigrette on it. The Royal Chef forgot to dress the salads! We asked for salt & pepper, because well, there was no dressing & got ATTITUDE. My husband had a ravioli dish that was comprised of 3 over-sized ravioli that were mostly pasta. I had a spaghetti pomodoro that was so greasy(!) that it was inedible. The server & pasta boy crouched over me demanding why I wasn't eating! I kept saying it was fine... They put it in a box (the pasta) and I left it on the table. We paid $85 for this WITHOUT alcohol! Wouldn't have minded if food & service were good.

First of all we stayed in a b and b called Annabel's amazing and inspiring woman who owns and runs it made reservations for us. Did I mention it was my birthday! We were greeted by Char who of course wanted to know who the birthday girl was! The attention to detail was appreciated. The rooms were buzzing with energy and laughter. Mary our waitress was so informative and handled all the guest in the house like a pro. The Chef Abbie sent out a complimentary fresh spinach dip yummy doesn't seem to do it justice. Fresh spinach was the key. Annabel suggested the hand made pasta with pistachio's and it was exactly as her eyes told me when she talked about it. My girlfriends had chicken pot pie and salmon we all tasted and enjoyed the dinner so much. A mango creamsicle ice cream cake with all ingredience hand made was the topper of the evening. We were walked to our car by Char and promised to come up from Gold Canyon again soon. P.S. I am still wearing my tiara as I as I write..Cassandra S.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary. It was fine dining in a small town atmosphere. My husband had the lamb and I had the pork. Both dishes were delicious. We had the pear for dessert. It was well worth the extra time. Abbie, Char and Mary are all very nice and they made sure we had a memorable anniversary. The service was perfect. Just the right amount of attention. We brought our own wine. They will have their liquor license soon. prices were a little high but the food and atmosphere were very nice and, I think, their prices were comparable for the area and what we got.

We had to make an effort to make it here... and it was well worth it! From the moment we drove up, someone came out to guide us in to a parking space. As it turned out, it was Abbie's hostess (whose name I'm embarassed to admit that I've forgotten). Needless to say, service was impeccable from start to finish. The food was nothing less than amazing along with their wine recommendation. Just as notable is the fact that you don't have to empty the bank to have a wonderful meal!
