We ate here in mid-January 2010. This restaurant is not particularly appealing from the outside, but the interior is inviting, tastefully decorated, cozy, cheerful. In addition to typical Mexican combination items and a wide variety of enchilada selections, a number of tasty-sounding meat items were listed on their very appealing menu. Trip Advisor and Google abound with postive reviews for Su Casa, and we met people at Su Casa who said it's their favorite restaurant; the few other diners there when we went mid-afternoon seemed to be enjoying their food. However, for us it was the worst or second-worst restaurant meal we'd had in our 55+ years on this earth. They replaced my way-over-salty chile relleno with a so-so taco. The rice and beans tasted awful, and my taquito was somewhat burned. We couldn't detect any alcohol in our margaritas. The chips and salsa were good, but we were not offered a refill (but then, we didn't ask, either) I hope we just hit on a bad day somehow, because it seemed that the owners/staff really wanted to please and create a pleasant dining experience. The pleasant environment would offer a good alternative for overpriced restaurants in the area.

MMMMmmmm!! Most importantly, the margaritas had tequila, that I could actually taste!! Maybe it was the two drinks, but I found the food tasty!! The salsa is plain and boring, probably cuz they have a large 65+ crowd in the area. I ordered the 3 shrimp mole tacos. No complaints. The portions are small, but I don't eat that much anymore, so they were fine for me. I'll be back!!

Delicious pork chimichanga (you could just smell the smoke from being slow cooked), and a great salsa bar. Friendly wait staff. Overall really liked the food and atmosphere.

We'd seen an ad saying that Su Casa served healthy Mexican food. I don't think so. It was o.k. food, but the place wasn't very clean. I can't see driving to Clarkdale for food that might be better at Taco Bell. :( Sorry.

Great lunch for after kayaking. Food is very good and people are very nice. nice little town. I had chicken flautas and they were very good. Salsa was fresh and great for the kids. Everyone enjoyed their food and will be back when we come here again.

Went with friends here on a Sat night and the place was empty. Food and service was so so but nothing I would go back for nor recommend. Nice venue...too bad we couldn't have had a better experience.

We came across this place by accident and I'm so glad we did. The food was fresh and excellent. The service was very attentive. I had the Elote (Chef's special) -- bacon wrapped corn on the cob with pulled pork. Loved it. My husband had the mahi mahi tacos. Get the cucumber salsa. The food was was very savory and different from typical Mexican food faire. The price was totally reasonable. Next time I go back I'm going to try the stuffed peppers. If you're in the area it's worth a detour and like previous Yelp-ers don't be deterred by the humble exterior!

Ya' know, the place is cute, clean, and homey. But, I thought the food was way too expensive for what it is, and the portions were ridiculously small. Been here twice, and the food was mediocre to good. Nothing special. Service was OK, friendly enough. My major complaint was the rice and beans, the portions. As most Mexican establishments serve you big old platters rather than regular plates, I'm used to rice and beans covering the "platters." Here, it looked like less than Kiddie Portions! Where was the rest of it? The cheapest items were skimped on. Bummer. The bill (2 people, 2 combo plates and appetizer) came to about $31.00. That knocked this review from a 3 to a 2. Doubt I will go back because of this. The salsa bar was an added bonus, with a small variety of freshly made salsas to choose from.

Average food, below average service, for a high price. We ordered an enchilada and a burrito and a bowl of beans paid $30+. Small portions as well, which I was not pleased with for the price. Wouldn't reccommend.

The food here is as bland as you get. Beans were flavorless and the rice mush. The chile relleno is made with an egg roll wrapper for goodness sake not actual egg like is should be. The salsas are just tomato juice with a little spice. Nothing is actually spicy here. Our service was slow and they did not seem very well informed. This place is over priced for sub-par food. I would not go back.

It's pretty hard to find awful Mexican food in the southwest, but this place will meet your expectations if "crappy" is what you seek! There are several other good Mexican restaurants within 5 miles (I.e. Cottonwood). Press on!

Great Service & delicious food. Don't be deceived by the exterior. It looks like a biker bar, but I was pleasantly surprised by the family atmosphere upon entering. I had the shredded beef burrito with a side of pineapple salsa. I was surprised by the small amount of salsa, since it was an additional fee, but it was just the right amount for the burro. Hubby had BLT sandwich & said it was really good.

Great place for lunch after kayaking today. I hade the mushroom enchiladaS and my hubs had the steak street tacos. They were both good and the rice and beans are very tasty. Their house salsa is ok but they have a salsa bar..for those who like it hot like me they have a couple excellently spicy sauces. The pico is slightly bland. The staff is friendly and helpful. Service was very speedy too.

I was here a few months ago with a family member. The guacamole was excellent. I had a veggie burrito and it was very good also. I will definitely go back when in the area.

Stopped going there long ago after having back to back bad food and service. I just heard its under new management so I was considering checking it out until I saw they were advertising a pet friendly patio. People's animals and a great dining experience don't mix. I'll pass until they change their policy.

This is one of the times when I feel completely misled by reviews. We have passed this place 100 times and never stopped. I am not against divey places so it wasn't the outside that bothered me. I guess it was because we never noticed an excess of vehicles there - usually a good indicator of worthiness. We decided to check Yelp and I saw good reviews. It was a 45 minute drive over the mountain and we were hungry. There were maybe 3 cars in the lot so that was a little disturbing. It's really dark inside, probably because there aren't any windows. It was clean and the service was somewhat good. I ordered a strawberry frozen margarita for 6.95 and it was much smaller than I expected. It was served in one of those glasses with a saguaro on the stem. It was good but I wasn't willing to spend another 7 for one. I ordered the torta and the waitress informed me that I couldn't order that because they were out of the bread. She wasn't able to say that but (she was searching for the word for bread in English it seemed) apparently they had no bread. I said okay and went for the nachos supreme. I requested no meat because it would cost 13.95....no way I was going to pay more than 8.95 for nachos. Glad I didn't because they were basic and disappointing. Imagine an 8 inch plastic oval plate. Chips, cheese, olives, green onions, diced tomatoes and that's it. No beans. Just a tiny bowl of bag flavored guacamole and sour cream. Hubby had the fundido chimis with jalapeño cream cheese which was okay. The chicken swear to god tasted like canned chicken. All together we spent $40 for a weak experience. The waitress left for break of wherever without giving us a check. That's a first for me. But the girl at the register was kind and handled it fine. We will definitely not be back. I saw lots of people waddling I. like zombies. This must be the only place in town to eat. I feel that they should have given me the nachos for free since they couldn't provide the torta like I originally wanted. That also has never happened to me before. I can see if it was the special and you run out but but the waitress said they ran out the night before. I really wanted to like this place.

I like Sue Casa! They have a salsa Bar! I drive past 5 Mexican diners to go there! Pretty harsh reviews.

Was there 12-13-12. Food was terrible. Salsa like tomato paste with trace of chili. Food was very bland and disappointing. Will not go back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
