Don't let the exterior fool you. The inside is clean and the food is good. The recipes are done by someone who knows food and presentation. When I saw the white waiter when I walked in, I thought ... but, his wife (the Chef) has skills. The AZ Chimi was Awesome! A must stop in Benson. It took me 10 minutes to locate it. It's at 723 not 732. (The first guy to post must have been dyslexic, oh well so was Einstein)

Wow what an incredible place! I love the unassuming charm of the old building, but let's focus on the important stuff, the food! Probably the best chips and salsa ever. I knew the second I tasted those that we had made a good choice. My Arizona chimichanga was awesome. Surprisingly it was the cabbage that set it apart. Everything was super fresh. My only complaint is that I could not enjoy a cold margarita with my meal. They don't have a liquor license. I'd make the 3 hour drive here again just for the food!

The best meal we had in Arizona. I'm used to good quality seafood, So even though i heard good things on yelp about the shrimp enchiladas I was still dubious. But they were really good. Good quality shrimp and a very tasty and light sauce. Everything was prepared so well that it stood up to bring reheated the next day! We also had a beef taco which was good. Good refried beans. Not spicy at all, like all the Mexican food we had in Arizona. An Anglo guy waited in us and seemed to be manager/owner. I don't understand the salsa they put out at the beginning of the meal though. Strange/odd, but all the other salsas were good.

A favorite with locals for a good reason. Good foods, reasonable prices

PLATE LICKING GOOD! Party of 4, who got 4 different menu entrees. Chimichanga California (with chipotle cream sauce), enchiladas bandera (3 different enchiladas), steak fajitas, shredded beef burrito (with red sauce). Food was fantastic, the sauces were amazing. Carrot cake was a pleasant surprise, again with an amazing sauce. Service was great, very attentive and intuitive. Family owned and operated (wife cooks and husband is he waiter).

Side note, Google takes you to the wrong place but just scan around and you will spot it! BEST PLACE EVER! I visited a few weeks ago. We were looking for a restaurant and couldn't help but notice all of the glowing reviews on Yelp. I had a burrito and was blown away at how homemade (in the best way) it tasted. Every other person in my group was equally pleased with their meal. Vegetarian options were good as well. The other reviewers are correct. The carrot cake is a must. Even if you are stuffed, you must try it! The actual restaurant is clean and tidy inside and not so crammed with tables that it is overwhelming. The service was excellent as well! GO HERE!

Love the food here. Angie & I have made this place our home away from home. We often times come here & enjoy the food here. Angie has since brought many of her friends with her, & her & her husband know Andy's brother Art of who's art they've hung in the restaurant: beautiful copper art.. Angie has sent this link to her family, & hopes to bring them here from Tucson. I have yet to bring my husband here & order him something & I'm sure he will enjoy it: seeing as he is a trucker, the timing just hasn't been right. I've also brought my friend Darlene here & we 3 (Darlene & Angie & I) love it here. We enjoy various meals: The 3 Flags & The Taco Salad & Well.......I love the Veggie Burrito. Andy & Santa work well together & have an awesome little place with worthwhile food.

I thought the food was okay, my mother thought it was disgusting and is confused by all the positive reviews. My only complaint is "Seriously ! What are you thinking when you include THAT salsa with the chips? Its a bowl of slimy snot with shredded carrots." I probably wont go there again.

Best Authentic Mex Rest I've Been To. You could easily miss this small jewel of a find but well worth searching it out. You will definitely be impressed.

Hands down, the BEST Mexican food in Southern Arizona. If you find yourself hungry and in the area, visit this restaurant. Owned by an kind family with an authentic Mexican chef in the kitchen, Mi Casa is a diamond the in ruff. I have been there more than I can count and haven't been disappointed by ANYTHING on the menu, its all DELICIOUS. Also, if after your splendid meal, you have room for desert, get the carrot cake. It is HEAVEN.

  • Tim C.

Holy cow!!! This wasn't good, it was great!!! Second time eating here...brought the family and they were a little worried when they first saw the outside. I said "trust me". Once in the door, all hesitation was good. Great food at a better price

    (5)
  • Karen W.

Gourmet Mexican food for reasonable prices! The presentation is always beautiful, the food always fresh and delicious. I love Mi Casa and the owners, Andy and Marisol, have created a fabulous food oasis in the desert. It is a little difficult to find like most oasis but it will truly quench your palette. Well worth an exit from I-10!

Absolutely delicious! What a sweet surprise to find this gem of a restaurant in Benson while we were passing through. The husband/wife team are just the best, such friendly and hard working folks. The chef even came out to greet us and tell us about her food and how she learned to perfect her skills and recipes. Highly recommend the enchiladas banderas, shrimp enchiladas! And do NOT skip the carrot cake! YUM!!

  • Dani K.

The address is 723 not 732! Five stars seems insufficient. This place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. The shrimp enchiladas were so good I almost ordered a second dinner! This wife husband combo is perfection. Her cooking is spectacular and his service is exceptional. I can't say enough good things about Mi Casa. I can't wait to drive through here again so we can stop by! Do not miss this place!

  • Alex L.

Some of the best Mexican food I've had. Cute little hole in the wall restaurant, loved the atmosphere inside. Beautiful presentation, great service, and delicious food. Will definitely go back next time I'm passing through.

Me and my wife both had Cimichungas, some of the best Mexican food we have ever had. Great service, this is our first time in this area. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Great find in Benson! Nice family restaurant. Food was excellent. We tried the burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, & flan. Staff extremely nice and attentive. We will be back.

Great food, drinks were always full, the presentation was excellent and I recommend the steak burrito. We also had the carrot cake, yum! Hard to find, but look for the rock shop 2 blocks down from Safeway

  • Nicki S.

Took a couple tries and a call to locate it. It's at 723 not 732. Safeway side of street next to rock shop. So glad we took the time and didn't give up. Had the mix platter and the enchiladas, chile relleno and chalupa were so good. I could have eaten their chips and salsa all day long. Everything is fresh and so flavorful. Our tastebuds left happy. Should we ever be trekking along 10 from Houston, I am looking forward to stopping in Benson again. Kind of disappointed our journey back home does not pass this way. Family owned, wife cooks and husband manning the tables. He's real friendly and takes great care of you. Most plates are around the $10 mark with some closer to $15.

  • Caitlin W.

Have eaten here a couple times. Pretty presentation huge lack of flavor. An alright place to eat but I truly don't understand the five star rating. The only thing I would give five stars is the carrot cake that is truly five stars worth.

Our friends from SD wanted an amazing authentic Mexican lunch after our Kartchner Caverns Tour. We found it at Mi Casa. The food is delicious and the experience was outstanding. The carrot cake is wonderful! We will be back and will recommend to our friends in Tucson.

Just went to Mi Casa for the first time, and am pleasantly surprised that there is such a great little gem in Benson. The special of the day, Shrimp Enchiladas were perfection. The presentation was well made, and the enchiladas were fresh and hot, with very well balanced flavors. The carrot cake is a huge hunk of carroty goodness, topped with a glaze and crushed walnuts. The glaze added sweetness without going overboard and was a nice alternative to the standard cream cheese. I am definitely going back!

  • Lisa H.

Stopped here for a late lunch based on other Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. Customers seemed to be mostly local and the server knew what they wanted to drink without having to ask. I had the shrimp enchiladas and my husband had fish tacos which were the day's special. Both were absolutely outstanding. The shrimp had a wonderful flavor - I suspect they may have been marinated in a secret ingredient before they were cooked. If I can figure out how to post photos, will do so. We were too full for dessert, but a departing customer insisted that we *had* to try the carrot cake. So we did and it too was magnificent -- and a very generous portion which we had no trouble polishing off. When the server heard we were going to have the carrot cake, he put on a fresh pot of coffee. Tucson, where we spend the winter, has a lot of good Mexican restaurants, but I'm seriously trying to come up with reasons to go to or through Benson so we can eat here again. It's that good. Days and hours may have changed but when we were there it was open Monday-Thursday 11-7 and Friday 11-8.

Just when I was beginning to think I didn't like Mexican food along comes Mi Casa. Here you'll find simple authentic recipes that would make Rick Bayless proud. We ordered a chimichanga and the enchilada trio and were not disappointed. You could taste the attention to detail in everything they prepared for us, from the chips and salsa to the amazing sopapillas -- no corners were cut and no can openers were used. If you're beginning to lose faith in this wonderful cuisine like I was you owe it to yourself to try Mi Casa.

I have been eating at Mi Casa since it opened a couple of years ago. Andy, the owner and head server, and his wife, Santo, the head chef, run a top notch establishment. The food and service are consistently excellent. The restaurant is always clean. The ground beef tostadas with made from scratch red chili sauce are delicious. My favorite is the steak Baja Chimichanga without the tortilla. The fish tacos are also very good. The carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and rum sauce is worth going out of your way to eat here. I wish this restaurant was open on the weekends but the owners have children who are involved in sports' activities during the weekends. I suspect that running a family owned restaurant seven days a week would be difficult. This restaurant has the best Mexican food in southern Arizona. It puts the Mexican restaurants in Sierra Vista and Tombstone to shame.

    (5)
  • S C.

Wow! This is one of the best Mexican restaurants we've EVER eaten at and we're a Mexican family FROM San Antonio--the mecca of Mexican food. Never mind it's a hole-in-the-wall type place; the kitchen looks clean, food aesthetically plated and FRESH! (Take that, Phoenix) I'll be going out of my way to eat here again in the future.

This new restaurant is hidden next to a Rock store. On the outside, this place looks like a cute shack (slightly shady looking) but it is a real gem. I would highly recommend this place to others. Positive: -Great atmosphere (hole in the wall with family business feel) -Steak fajitas were DELICIOUS. Steak was soft with a crispy outside. This dish can probably feed 2 people for lunch (my wife and I split this dish). -Carrot cake was delicious. It is made completely different from any other I have tried. Definitely worth it to get. It is moist, sweet and awesome. Negatives: -Service could have been faster (but it was not slow by any means) Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here. It is a husband and wife business. One of the customers said that the taste/style of the food at this establishment is that of Mexico City. I am not an mexican food expert so, I cannot comment on the validity of that statement.

  • Julie G.

The carrot cake is awesome! Love the mom and pop feel. Chips are great, perfect salt and crispness. Portion size is perfect to leave room for dessert. You won't be let down. Don't let the outside appearance fool you. We almost didn't try it but were pleasantly surprised and pleased. Great restrooms too. I wish I had tried to guacamole. Next time!

Now that I know yelp will throw out perfectly good reviews I check mine every so often to see if they have thrown out one of mine. For some reason they did'nt want to give my 5 star review to Mi Casa. Well I'm updating so there. Great food! We have loved everything we have tried! To see all reviews of a restaurants scroll past the tips and click on the reviews not recommend by yelp. I find them to be the most accurate.

On our way from Bisbee to Tucson, realized we were hungry, and searched for somewhere in Benson with good reviews. That took us to Mi Casa -- after about 10 minutes of driving around, as the listed address seems to have been off some -- and were rewarded with outstanding red chile and perfect sopaipillas. We live in Portland, but we know good Mexican American food and this is it.

I am a Benson native, who moved back after many years away. To be honest, it's not often that I am pleased with a restaurant in Benson. All too often restaurants rely on the town's lack of options rather than offering tasty food-- and the service is often comparable to the food (inconsistent at best) This is not the case with Mi Casa! Don't let the humble outer appearance fool you! The atmosphere is understated and tasteful, the service is incredible, and the FOOD! Fresh, creative and unique meals that are perfect if you're looking for something other than the typical canned, overly cheesed Sonoran fare. This restaurant is a gem and my husband and I eat at Mi Casa as often as we can. We've yet to find a meal on the menu that we don't absolutely love. You cannot leave with out trying the carrot cake-- our family of three usually shares a slice and it's a special treat. Some locals complain about portion size and price point (which is still certainly modest)-- I will admit that there are less expensive options very close by--- but you get what you pay for, and we have NEVER left hungry! I work locally as an executive assistant and also book business lunches here whenever I can. We have hosted international visitors here, and they too were impressed! This restaurant is not to be missed!

We were looking for a Mexican place after visiting Kartchner Caverns. When we checked Yelp, this place had the best reviews. The place is wonderful! We had the steak chimi, shredded beef burro, a fish (tilapia) taco, and a cheese quesadilla. The food was excellent. The chips were so fresh . . . they were burning our fingers as they had just been made! The salsa was great as well. The service was also outstanding. Everything we asked for was brought with a smile. They were super accomodating. I was told the chicken in the chicken quesadilla was dark meat. I'm not a fan, and we just got plain cheese. Towards the end of the meal the waiter brought a tiny sampling of the chicken cheese quesadilla so we could try it.He felt the dark meat was often underestimated. A great ending to a great trip! You MUST visit this place when in town.

Next time we come through this area we WILL stop here again. The food here is wonderful, the seasonings are spot on, they compliment the dish not overpower it. One waiter handled the entire tiny dinning room, he was fantastic! You must save room for the carrot cake, after 15 years of only loving my carrot cake, hubs says it beats mine!

    (5)
  • Steven L.

Food was ok. Nice presentation on the plate but lacked flavor. Had to try it. Probably won't be back other Mexican food in town has better flavor.

  • Chelle H.

Absolutely amazing food! On the same side of the street as Safeway next to the Rock shop. Yelp says it's on the other side.

  • Lacey A.

The best in Benson if not in Southern AZ. All homemade authentic Mexican food. Really great owners too! My boyfriend and I are regulars here, it's one of the only restaurants in Benson we'll visit.

  • Casey G.

This place is all-around great if you're in the area. Not highly visible from the main road but certainly worth seeking out. Tetherball seals the deal!

I was passing through Benson on my drive to Texas from California to get gas. I decided to get lunch and saw the great reviews for this place so I decided to give it a try. Needless to say, I left very full and very happy. The shrimp fajitas are absolutely wonderful. I was a little surprised by the price at first, but you definitely get your money's worth.

    (5)
  • Tito A.

Very impressed with the green chili enchiladas. The sauce rocks. I'm a picky Mexican and enjoyed good refried beans. Topped it off with my favorite dessert - Carrot cake. A must go!!

  • Damian H.

This is a lovely new restaurant in Benson. The food isn't the typical Sonoran-style Mexican food and is all the better and more interesting for it. Food is made with fresh ingredients and great cooking. Highly recommended!

Gourmet Mexican food... what a nice surprise. We did not know what to expect in the small town of Benson! Delicious food, excellent service!

  • Terry D.

Don't let the size of this restaurant fool you. Yeah it's tiny, but big on service and the food is big on flavor. I love the wraps they serve. I go back often and would recommend this place to anyone.

  • Ted T.

As mentioned in other reviews, a little hard to find as the restaurant is very small and set back from the road. And from the road it does not look very inviting, but the closer you get things improve quickly. Very cute inside and appears to be recently remodeled. But here's the best part, the food and service was outstanding! Four of us dined for lunch and we all had different dishes. Two of us are very particular about our Mexican food and we thought our dishes were great. The service was also outstanding. Allan, our server noticed a small gift that my wife received for her birthday that day, wished her a happy birthday and after the meal brought out a big piece of their fabulous carrot cake, on the house. I love carrot cake and my wife makes a great one, so I know of where I speak about carrot cake and believe this one was wonderful. So if you're in Bensen, don't miss this place!

  • S G.

New family-run Mexican restaurant next to the Rock Shop, already packed at lunchtime. Tasteful decor, outstanding service and great food! Nice change from normal Sonoran-style Mexican offering new and wonderful flavors and color to each dish. Highlights: Pinata Salad (with pine nuts and spinach), soup and tortilla crisp with ground beef for appetizers. We'll be back to try more! No liquor license Closed Sun/Mon Open 11am to 7pm

    (5)
  • Terese A.

Wow. And wow again. Fresh, imaginative southwestern fare in a tiny, establishment that is equally imaginative and simple in decor. And this amidst a stretch of just-off-the-highway fast food joints and tired cafes and steakhouses. We stayed in Benson as a jumping off place for some mountain hiking and other sightseeing. The food was as good as the spectacular rock formations at Chiricahua National Forest.

Hubby and I went there for the first time last week. Food and service was really good. Definitely going back again.

Went to Arizona for a family vacation. On our way to Tombstone we were looking at the reviews for Mi Casa and thought we would try it out. The directions were a little off and when we first saw the building, we were leery..it's cute, but behind a chain link fence. At the time, no one else around. This is the BEST Mexican we have ever had by far. Nothing like a typical Mexican restaurant. Even my husband, who is not a mexican food fan, and really didn't want to eat here, LOVED this. On the reviews of others, even though full, we had to try the carrot cake. It, like everything else, was outstanding. Even though we were staying in Phoenix it would have been worth the drive to come back to eat here one last time before we flew back home, but they are not open on the weekends. We tried to bribe this wonderful couple into coming back to NC with us! I hope we get a chance to get back to lovely Arizona and Mi Casa!

We ate here a bit over a year ago, and since we were in town, had to stop back in. Small little place, but amazing food. Can be hard to find since it is set back from the street. We ordered guacamole and chips. The guac was different than any we have ever had, but was wonderful. The chips are fresh, light and not greasy. We both ordered the 3 enchilada plate, hubby had chicken, I chose cheese. The chicken was juicy and well flavored and had a generous amount. Both plates came with beans and rice, which were excellent. Also, we opted to have our enchiladas topped with red sauce. The red sauce was amazing, spicy, but not too hot. My cheese enchiladas were very good. Unfortunately we were too full to have a piece of the famed carrot cake. Maybe next time.

  • Kristin D.

Met all of my expectations--did not disappoint. I got the Baja shrimp tacos --really yummy. The shrimp was really flavorful and it was just the right amount of spicy. My sister got the enchiladas based on the reviews on Yelp--she raved about them. We got a piece of carrot cake to go--it was good, but I think it would have been better if we had eaten it there.

Where do I start? This was simply one of the best experiences dining out we have ever had and that is saying a lot as we are serious foodies. We had read in a previous review of the establishment that it was cold or drafty well when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to see that the owners quite possibly having read that same review had several heaters in place to make for a comfortable environment. We were seated quickly by the owner of the restaurant, provided menus and ordered our dinner. We had a child's menu quesadilla a baja chimichanga and the Bandera Enchiladas.......all were simply superb. The food was flavorful hot and superbly prepared, an excellent, excellent menu excellent cooks and a great presentation. The service was perhaps just as good if not better then the food, the owner, the cooks and other staff made sure that our needs were met often times without even having to ask and done so very unobtrusively. While the restaurant itself is small and rather hidden from the road we can see why it has such a loyal following and such superb reviews they certainly deserve all the praise we can give them as we will be back many times. Seating is limited I would say no more than 40 to 50 people could fit in the restaurant so keep that in mind.

  • Kendall B.

Chips and salsa were gross! The salsa was gelatinous and the chips didn't taste fresh. But the food, amazing!! Chimichangas, burritos and the quesadilla appetizer. I recommend it, a cute atmosphere and a good road trip stop! The staff is nice but they didn't give us any recommendations, still, we chose great food. The hot sauce was HOT! Be careful. I about died from a tiny spot on my tongue.. And I like hot! Overall, it was mediocre.

My family gives Mi Casa 5 stars! Stopped in on our way from Phoenix to Texas for lunch. We recommend the guacamole. Which is more like fresh pico with chunks of avocado. So good! Get the shrimp tacos!! Just spicy enough and so fresh!

  • Jaime T.

Pulling up to this place you would think its sketchy but come inside if you want the best food around. I enjoy Mexican food and this place is the best I have ever had. When we arrived right after opening time it was already half full (it only has 8 tables and seats 28). I thought that was a good sign and I was correct. I read the reviews and went with the shrimp enchiladas, which is something I would never thought to order but figured it had rave reviews so I would try I it. So amazing! !! The best verde sauce ever. My son who is the pickiest kid I know, got a side chicken enchilada with red sauce and absolutely loved it. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone even if its out of your way. Its worth the trip!

Another trip to Benson means another visit to Mi Casa, one of my favorite places in all of Southern Arizona. This husband and wife team keep cranking out the great meals and excellent service. The restaurant received a recent (well-deserved) write up in a local paper and that's helped their business. They deserve it all, and more. p.s. Can you start making the sauce in jars, so I can bring home a case to Seattle?

  • Matthew R.

We pulled off the 10 to visit Tombstone and pulled into this little gem. Although it was hard to find due to google maps being off once we pulled up to the small house we knew it was the place for us. In case you're looking, it's located next to the Rock Shop. The food was simply amazing and affordable! My meal was $10 and my wife's was $12. We are well traveled and this rates in our top 5 all time. Staff is VERY friendly and its spouse owned and operated. Don't leave without a piece of carrot cake!

We loved everything about this place. It is small, quaint, clean authentic and the food is perfection. I would suggest if you are any where near Benson you stop!

We ate here after reading the reviews on yelp. It is a small restaurant set back off the road easy to pass by. Meals and service were both excellent.

  • Sana B.

My family gives this place 5 stars!!! The food was phenomenal! The kids even loved it and they are hard to please when there isn't chicken nuggets and french fries. We all ate everything on our plates plus dessert. The flan was soooo good, we could easily eat 5 of them and the carrot cake, OMG...no one likes carrot cake in my family and all of us gobbled it up! This is such a cute place and we were so happy we stopped here for an early dinner. Too bad we live 2 hours away otherwise we would eat here a lot!

    (5)
  • Ken H.

Not the best location, but once inside you find a comfy, cozy spot staffed by the owners and featuring good, traditional food. I forgot to ask; but I believe the green salsa served with chips is house made and it alone is worth the price of admission. I enjoyed the Tostadas, very fresh and tasty, if a bit bland. Be sure to ask for additional salsa!

    (4)
  • Jam J.

The shrimp tacos are delicious! I like how they don't put cheese on them. When the meat and sauce are delicious, you don't need cheese.

What a find. This is simply wonderful Mexican food. We had heard great things about Mi Casa and finally got a chance to try it. So glad we did. The restaurant is small only seating 24. We waited an hour to get in and seated and it was well worth the wait. From the chips and home made salsa to the carrot cake everything was as good as I have ever had.

  • Frank B.

It's nice to find a homey, family owned restaurant that actually serves delicious food in a small town. Service was friendly, the chimichanga burrito was large and delicious, and the prices were reasonable. Stop if you are here or passing through.

Delicious from beginning to end. Service was great. This place is not to be missed. If you are in the area make a point of dining here. The flan was superb, like a cheesecake. Amazing.

"Family Recipes Handed Down Through Generations...Original Mexican Cruisine" We came to celebrate a friend's birthday on a recommendation of friends who had just discovered it themselves. Aside from dealing with the incorrect address that had us driving all around Benson, we might not even have noticed this place since it's tucked away beside a rock shop if it hadn't been for Yelp. What a wonderful place! Intimate, small, cozy and friendly serving Mexican food with just a hint of New Mexico in it. The green salsa was very tasty and very different from the tomato-based Sonoran salsas. The chips were tasty and of the thick variety. There's two rooms with about 4 tables in both. So you might want to avoid the rush hour in Benson. Not sure when that is though. One of us had tostados and here are her comments: "Loved them. I was just in Mexico and this food tasted very close to it. The refried beans were excellent. Such a nice and quaint place." My partner had a cheese enchilada and veggie burro: "Food presentation was lovely. Beans and rice came in a separate dish. The dark, red enchilada sauce was exquisite with a hint of mole and New Mexico peppers in it. The veggie burrito was filled with fresh veggies and was delicious." I had similar dishes and I loved them all. 5 star all the way, Since my friend was having a birthday and I just happened to mention it to our server, they brought out a huge piece of carrot cake with rum sauce and 3 spoons. Magnifico! It's worth the drive just to eat here but certainly, the next time you're passing through Benson, you might want to give this place a try. You'll be happy you did. Word of advice! they are NOT open on the weekend.

Wow! Dinner was delicious! Every single thing we had was so good! The owner was our server and was so accommodating of our 6 person group of weary travelers. The food came out so quickly and we were blown away by the crisp and fresh flavors. We all loved this place and would recommend it to anyone near Benson. Our favorites were the shrimp soft tacos and the flan(which was heavenly). Can't wait to eat the six pieces of carrot cake we took to go for a late snack!

Nothing short of 5 stars. Delicious food and great service. Our drink cups stayed full the entire meal. Recommend the enchiladas banderas and the carrot cake. YUMMO

We went here on the recommendation of a coworker and decided to stop on the way back to Tucson from New Mexico, and we will back every trip East now! The chipotle cream sauce on the enchiladas was subtle and amazing. This proves that Mexican food doesn't need to be hot to have flavor. My Mexican husband said it tasted just like he was at his grandmas house. He thought about the food the entire way back to Tucson. We sat outside with our dog, and our waiter (owner) checked on us regularly. SIMPLY FANTASTIC!!

Live here locally, 16 miles away never really stopped by. But glad I did, it was fantastic. I got the Bandera enchiladas. Came with a cheese, a steak, and a chicken. All different sauces. She got the fish tacos. They were really fresh and just overall amazing food. It's literally what the name refers it's a small house. Just like the tostitos Comercial when they are in a random house eating chips. That's what it felt like to me. It was super cold in there. I don't think they have a heating system. The food was quite perfect. Don't hesitate to stop by don't bring a bunch of peeps unless your trying to wait alot. There is literally enough room to seat about 15 people very limited seating

Love this little hole in the wall place! Everything on the menu is great. The cook she is wonderful and very friendly always comes out and says hello when I come by. Presentation of the food is gorgeous, she takes pride in her work. She accommodates to your specifications perfectly if you want something altered. Carrot cake is to die for.

Wanted this to be better. beef was wonderful but grease they fried chimin in tasted old.. salsa and chips underwhelming. .carrot cake good but not over the top good. Lemonade was either boxed or from a powder... and it was mixed weak... in fairness my husband loved this place and his shrimp enchiladas were good... just didn't like it as well as he did

Flavorful well seasoned meat. Great service! Friendly atmosphere. Not truly authentic Mexican, but very good food and well presented plates. Probably the best bet in Bensen. Great carrot cake and truly original.

I would have never expected this little Mexican restaurant in Benson to have the best carrot cake of all time, but the rum sauce adds a unique flavor to make it the most delicious dessert of my life! The enchiladas are absolutely fantastic, topped with a magical red sauce unlike any other Arizonan-Mexican restaurant I've experienced. Santa Sutton, the chef, hails from La Paz, Baja California, and imbues a different Sonoran flair into her flavorful Baja-style dishes. Mi Casa is worth the trip down to Benson.

I live in Sierra Vista and this restaurant is worth the drive. The owner/chef personally came out to greet us and you can tell she takes great pride in her cooking and cooks with heart. Very reasonable prices for high quality food. Must go.

Outstanding Mexican food! Service was top notch! A true mom and pop, or should I say madre y padre shop, a little hard to find, yelp shows it on the map to be on the north of business 10 but it's actually on the south side directly west of the "rock shop" if you see the rock shop, pull in, you're there!! Don't miss this excellent little gem in Benson!!

This is a fantastic little restaurant. The food is great and the service is awesome. The salsa is different, but really tasty. I was impressed with the presentation. They dress up the food more than most Mexican restaurants.

Delightful! We wandered in between lunch and dinner. The only customers at that time. All our food was delicious and beautiful. The chef/owner came out several times to serve us as she was teaching a new waitperson. She is a lovely person and very talented. Adorable little place!

Usually there is at least one bad review, but not for this place. The food and service was just as I expected it to be very good. Authentic south of the border atmosphere down to the window a/c.

VERY AUTHENTIC! We've been wanting to try Mi Casa for quite some time and happened to be passing through Benson on a weeknight. They are not open weekends :(! It doesn't look like much from the curb but inside it's clean, cozy and simply decorated. The waiter and his wife own the restaurant. His wife is the chef. Let me say they are both doing an awesome job running this establishment. The food is over the top. Everything is made from scratch. The red sauce is a 100 year old family recipe. The salsa is different but it had a nice kick to it. My husband had the CHIMICHANGA and said it was the best Mexican food he's ever eaten. I had the TACO SALAD. Everything was in this salad. It was delicious. On top of all of the delicious food was the PRESENTATION. I mean, Wow! A beautiful display of a proud chef when the waiter sets your plate down. We took the carrot cake home and shared it between us. AMAZING, unlike any carrot cake we've ever had. We highly recommend giving them a try and can't wait to go again.

A true "gem" in the desert... The chile relleno was outstanding, lightly breaded and able to enjoy the flavor of the chile... Cheese enchiladas were tasty, not too spicy.. Beans were done right... Wished I had enough room for the sopapillas! We shared a table with a retired U of A physicist that had a great appetite, and his lovely wife... The sopapilla serving coulda fed us all, but will definitely have to stop in on our trip back through Benson and hopefully have room for dessert...! We stopped in right at the lunch hour rush but were greeted nicely by the staff.. Thank you past Yelpers for steering us in the right direction. We were not disappointed!! Recommend you try this place out if you are looking for authentic Mexican food... Yummy!!

A great find in southern Arizona. The food and service were wonderful and the presentation rivaled any high end restaurant. We stopped on our way fromPhoenix to NM and on the return made sure to revisit. Enchiladas, tacos, guacamole and carrot cake were the best. Hope to go back soon.

This is a must-eat-at restaurant when you are in the area! So much food! And what to choose is a big problem for me. We cannot wait to come back!

Took a chance via Yelpers and hoped this place was open. My husband and I stopped for lunch driving from El Paso to Tucson. He had a steak taco salad and I had the Special, two hard-shell tacos with rice/beans. As suggested we ordered the carrot cake to go. Our server was kind enough to bring two spoons so we could get a fresh bite with the warm caramel rum sauce. Excellent! Great local place with wonderful food and service. We will return.

OMG best Mexican food I have ever had...I wish they were open on the weekends and I wish they would move out to Gilbert, AZ so I can enjoy their cuisine more often. Came to this place based off reviews I read and boy they were right on...best restaurant in Benson!!!

Went to Kartchner's Cavern and looked on yelp for a lunch spot. Great tips on location (next to rock shop) and what to eat (everything is great). Our party of 6 was seated quickly although they were busy. Service and food was 5 stars. Although we were full we ordered the recommended carrot cake. We ate the whole thing. Would come back.

Hidden gem. After a long day at Tombstone, we were on a mission to find a great dinner spot on the way back to Phoenix and we struck gold. The humble building was full of character and even felt inviting. We were seated right away and was able to sit a group of 15, which included mostly kids. I was recommended the enchilada bendera and waited patiently to see if the drive was worth it. Everything was going great, until I took a bite of the chicken enchilada. Boom! I can not explain the flavors that were dancing in my mouth. We ordered more chicken enchilada and had no need for to-go boxes. We were in heaven and had to meet the lady that was responsible for making these delicious masterpieces by hand! She came out and we took pictures. Yes. It was that serious. So do yourself a favor and get over here now.

This small restaurant had an excellent menu, with many options. The burritos filled the plate. The chili rellenos were excellent. Presentation was beautiful. The chips & salsa were a great flavor. Different from most every other restaurant. The carrot cake is to die for with a great sauce. It was off the road and right next to the Rock Shop. Service was superb. Can't say enough GOOD. Will go back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
