Another of the institutions that are helping to keep downtown Mobile alive. Good food and beer at decent prices is the way at Heroes. Try the Sosa Bat or any of their po'boys. A cold beer on the deck in the summer is hard to beat. Heroes is something of an innovator in the LoDa area. The owner, David Rasp, is a tireless worker to improve the downtown environment, is a believer in keeping a large and varied selection of craft beer, and was one of the first to make his places smoke free.

What a great place! We were there as a group of girls on 1/12 to watch football, drink and enjoy some not so good for you food! We got all three! Our server was fantastic as well as the bartender. After being down the street and having HORRIBLE service this was a welcome change. I will come back anytime I'm in Mobile! Do not pass up the Spinach and Crawfish dip. It was to die for!!

Black and bleu burger was tasty. Definitely a sports bar. Spring for the sweet potato fries, they are the reason to eat here. Parties of 4 or more may have issues since most tables only seat 4, maybe 5.

The best sports bar in Mobile! My wife and I have been patrons here for years. We have never had bad food and they have a great selection of beer. The service can be somewhat slow sometimes but that is to be expected with such a busy place. I recommend the big league melt, by far the best burger in Mobile in my opinion. The fat tire amber ale is a good beer to mix with it.

Worst manager on the planet. I was one of three women In a bar full of men screaming at the tv, and was accosted by a strange man who screamed "ma'am can you stop with the cursing!? You're offending my customers! I bet your mom would be really proud." He looked like a strange man off the street, but apparently was the manager. Several people from other tables approached me saying how messed up and rude he was for talking to me like that. Needless to say, f*ck that place and f*ck that manager.

Horrible attitude. Totally disrespectful. Male server came to outdoor sitting area and was rude to my entire party.

We got the spinach crawfish appetizer and it was SO good. I got a lemon pepper poboy and it was pretty good. Fiancee got The Clipper, though, and almost wish I had. Lol It looked super good.

  • Sandy B.

The blackened shrimp was excellent and so was the grilled lemon pepper chicken. The food exceeded our expectations!!! We were here at 2:00 in the afternoon when many other places in the area are closed for the afternoon. Definitely would come here again!

I was jonesin' for a burger and fries recently and knowing the latter half wouldn't be satisfied at my usual haunt, I decided to order take out from Heroes. And can we just take a second to talk about those baked beans? I didn't even know I like baked beans! But these bad boys were KILLER!

  • Dakota C.

Horrible food & service! Not recommended. We didn't touch the food because it was ice cold and all the waitress could do was say "sorry you didn't like it, here's your check!" The bar tender just stares at people.

Me and my girlfriend were in Mobile for one night, and we were debating going either here or Royal Scam. We wanted to keep it low key so we came here and was very happy with it. Was glad to see that they had the Boston Bruins/New York Rangers playoff game on (and had the sound on) when I walked in. Service was great, they let you pick where to sit. Talked to our waitress and the bartender about places to check out in the area, very friendly and helpful with their recommendations. The food was above average sports bar food, but it definitely hit the spot. Wish I had read the reviews on here first so I could've tried one of the burgers. All in all, seems like a great place to have some beer (Yuengling on tap!) and catch a game while getting some good pub grub. Oh, and they have beer to go since you can apparently walk down the streets in Mobile drinking beer. Wish I had taken advantage of that!

I was here on a hot humid business trip while most others in the area that were out of towners were here for the oil spill cleanup. I went here because it was recommended by a local, it was within walking distance of my hotel and plainly, I had explored Dauphin St enough and was getting beat up by the evening humidity and needed a cove of climate control. The place has its charm for the atmosphere. It was dark but not depressing, it was what a typical bar that serves food should look like. The staff was a bit understaffed but they tried their best and were polite. I had a burger... The Major League Melt. A big-ass 1/2 lb Black Angus Beef burger patty between two slices of Texas Toast with sautéed onions and American cheese. I took the liberty of adding bacon as well, since bacon makes everything better. With the exception of a coronary heart attack... But it substituted buns for TEXAS TOAST!!! TEXAS TOAST!!! All in all, I found the burger likely within the top best burgers I've ever eaten in my life! Pretty damn good. I tried to finish it off with the baked beans and pasta salad, but it was too much. The only thing that made my experience awkward was the response I got when I asked of their "baked beans" were BBQ Baked Beans or boiled beans. Instead of a quick answer, I got the run down of what BBQ backed beans were and that they didn't have any rice in them. "Hopefully that is ok?" I was purplexed, kinda. I was the only asian person in Mobile that I saw the entire time I was there but I certainly didn't need to know what BBQ beans were and that they didn't come with rice. I looked at her and I could tell she wasn't trying to be a racist, so I really took no offense to it. I just think she didn't know how to treat me. I did get alot of looks and double takes when I was there from everyone. Anyhow, everyone was nice and Hero's was a great place to watch the Stanley Cup Finals and see my Black Hawks finally win a cup! -1 Star for the amount of time it took to order my food, then the time it took to get my food and then the relatively short amount of time to charge me and process the payment for my food.

The service here is great! Our waitress was really nice and caring. Crawfish dip is a must do! I had the seasonal Abita Strawberry beer which pairs really nice with the spiciness from the dip. Any of the sandwiches are good but the brisket sand! Is yumm! Any way! Great place to watch your favorite game!

Love downtown location and this one as well. Great food, great atmosphere. More family friendly than the downtown area.

  • Kaitlin W.

The inside of this bar is really pretty. It has raw brick, and a long bar, with a huge deck that overlooks Downtown Mobile. This is a cool bar for going to watch a sports game, They have a full bar menu, and multiple kinds of beer on draft.

    (4)
  • Eric S.

Good place to grab a beer and watch a game if that's what you want, they have a lot of TVs considering the size of the place. The food was decent but nothing out of the ordinary.

    (3)
  • Kim M.

    Awesome hangover/drunk food.

  • JT A.

I went several times to this sports bar during my stay in Mobile. It's a great place to grab a beer. Whether you sit outside for the nice weather, or inside to watch a game, you won't be disappointed. The beer selection is good and if you're not familiar with the local brews the bartender will help put you in the right direction. Plenty of friendly faces and good conversation. The food is well prepared. I've had the hamburger, shrimp po boy, and chicken strips thus far. No complaints with the food at all. The wait staff can get overwhelmed especially around lunch time, but they try hard to keep an eye on your drink and when you're ready to cash out.

  • J K.

Place was empty on a rainy Wednesday night. With a terrible happy hour (2.50 Coors Light, 4.00 Blue Moon) and a slow sports night, it was no wonder. That said, they do have a good beer list, with all running about $5. Wings were standard bar fare. Po-boys were better than expected. Overall, decent bar food with a solid beer list, but lame happy hour.

    (3)
  • Adrienne D.

Good atmosphere, good food and service but nothing special. Great location though! Perfect for watching the game before hitting the bars at night!

    (4)
  • Kristin M.

I went here based upon other Yelp reviews. I think based upon that my expectations were very high. Needless to say reality didn't meet my expectations. I did think the burger was good but not the best I've ever had. The service was fine as well. I would go back but 3 stars is as high as I could rate it.

Lived in Mobile for a year and Heroes became my nightly hangout!! Not only did they serve great food, cold libations, but also the owner and staff were extremely hospitable and curteous and became my friends while I lived there !!!! I recommend Heroes if you are in Mobile on business, for Marti Gras, or live near by !!!!!

    (5)
  • Carrie S.

On the Monday before Mardi Gras and after the Infant Mystics parade, we made our way to Heroe's looking for an after Mardi Gras drink. We found a table on the deck looking across to the Bienville Square. For drinks, we enjoyed some Sweetwater IPA on tap. It was a good regional beer and satisfied my need for a beer after the parade. Even after eating a crazy amount of moonpies and a funnel cake, I still needed a little something, so we ordered the buffalo shrimp appetizer. It was so kickass good. You can't go wrong with breaded shrimp dipped in buffalo sauce. The rest of the bar seemed nice and reminded me a little bit of my graduate school bar Hamilton's near Loyola University Chicago. It's definitely a great bar for a beer and some food.

Typical bar and bar food. Parking may be a problemas it is on the street with meters. We went on Sunday and didnt need to feed the meter.

While visiting Mobile for the first time, I asked my local host where I should eat. He told me that Hero's had the best burger in town, and damn was it a tasty burger. Thick and juicy, excellent kaiser roll, cooked to perfection. Usually I don't like kaiser rolls since a lot of them are too thick and overpower the meat, but this was perfect. Damn perfect. I can't say whether it is the best burger in Mobile, being the only burger I have had in Mobile, but it is easily one of the top 5 burgers I have had anywhere in the world.

  • Michael N.

One of the best pubs in Mobile. Great food, fast service and huge beer selection. I've been coming to this place before it was Heros. They didn't change much. Still good bar food, TVs and cold beer. Great place to watch an Alabama game. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is it is small, but if looks crowded go in anyway. You stand at the bar till there's a table. It's worth the wait.

I went to Heroe's Sports Bar & Grille for lunch based on the reccomendation of a local, and I was very pleasantly suprised. This is the kind of place I would inevitably make a habit of if I lived in Mobile, AL. (I would give it 4.5 stars if I could, but I have to save the prestigious 5-star rating for those places that are just ridiculous). The grilled tuna steak sandwich I had was simple and delicious. It was composed of a few decent sized pieces of tuna steak seasoned with lemon pepper and grilled, on a big fluffy bun. I ordered it to be cooked medium-rare, and found that the chef was not afraid to 'show some serious pink'. Fortunately it was of high enough quality to hold up. The sides were very tasty too--I chose pasta salad and coleslaw. Washing it all down with a little bit of sweet tea made it a true Mobile, AL experience. The ambience was college-y. Very fun for friends and/or casual date. If you're bringing a female date, be careful! The servers are icons of southern beauty and charm! Despite the fact that i'm not a huge fan of sports bars, I had a great time at Heroes. If you're looking for a fun place with good quality food at a very reasonable price (and fantastically gorgeous girls), I'd definitely reccomend checking out Heroe's.

Yep, count'em FIVE stars. I just couldn't find any way to take off a star here. Great location, outside seating where the sights and people watching are super, the menu has both standard Sports bar fare as well as offering some more interesting options. I had the Conecuh Smoked Sausage Po-Boy which was YUMMY!!! Plus, I could sit on the covered patio, under ceiling fans, watching big screen TV and smoke a cigar. SHA-ZAM!

  • Lorie P.

Been very disappointed with the service I have received the last few visits. Went last night for a quick appetizer before a movie at the Crescent. Our server (who we have had before) was quite aloof and spoke down to me. Management may need to have a pow wow on good service 101. Great location and decent bar food. With better service would definitely earn a few extra stars from me.

  • Karen B.

Enjoyed the food 1 hour before MG parade time - then walked a few blocks from there straight to the parade. The hamburger with sweet potato fries - so good. Others at the table had - fried shrimp - Philly - and they gobbled up their food they had and loved their choices too. We ate outside and enjoyed the people watching...waitress was Bailey--great service!

Found this by Google search for best sports bar in Mobile, AL and it far exceeded my family's expectations. Despite being a busy college football Saturday afternoon, our service was extraordinary and our food was the best we have ever had at any sports bar. We shared a huge delicious burger and equally yummy fish PoBoy. Kid friendly menu items were a hit. We sat in the back. It was great for my family of 5.

    (5)
  • Kelley J.

I have only been there for lunch during the week so it is never really that crowded. I would recommend if you are looking for a quick meal and want to watch the game or SportCenter while you do it.

  • Robert M.

Best sports bar in Mobile. Great atmosphere for college and pro football. You WILL be able to find the game you are looking for, no matter how obscure. Service is always top notch, very consistent. Food is on the good side of standard bar fare. Cajun wings are great. Conecuh sausage poboy is great. Burgers are quite good. Avoid the nachos.

    (4)
  • Phil T.

A great hole in the wall sports bar. We stop here every year on our way to Destin or Gulf Shores. The beer is ice cold and the food is great. In particular, the wings are fantastic.

  • Patrilie H.

Awesome fried pickles! Bar food is good and great atmosphere! Service was great and you can count on me being there the next time a good football game is on :)

Went here twice, once later once during the day. Bread is soggy with overly applied lubricants and dressings, the meats are cheap and even the sweet potato fries were completely limp and wet with oil. Even subway does better job.

Decided to surprise my husband with a sports grill on the way back from Pensacola to Texas. With ten televisions airing a variety of sports coverage, there is no doubt he has a bias opinion. However, not being an avid athlete groupie, I can honestly report that the food is worth the visit. We started with a very delicious spinach and crawfish dip. The Club provided a tasty dinner, especially with a side of crispy sweet potato fries and some of the freshest fruit I've ever received at this type of venue. Though currently in sports heaven, my husband, while staring deep into the world of media, says his Major League Melt is amazing. There's no way these yummy leftovers will make it back to Texas.

  • Kailyn G.

Heroes fulfills that need for a nice chill bar near my hotel. I got chicken salad, while my co-workers got the shrimp po' boy and the catfish po' boy. All of it was good. We also got the spinach and crawfish dip - you have to get this if you go. It was so good. I would go back just for this. Best of all, this was my first time trying Sweetwater beer. I got the Sweetwater Blue - which I loved. It's a light beer with a hint of blueberry - and a really strong blueberry smell. Definitely a summery and somewhat girly beer. For a quick, casual bite or a place to watch a game, this place is perfect. Service: Friendly, attentive, and the waitress didn't mind that we kept having more people walk in. Plus she split the check without even asking. Environment: Local bar feel, TVs for watching the game. Can't really complain.

I went in for Sunday lunch & NFL football. It was filled with locals and had a great football atmosphere. Since I was by myself, I sat with some locals (who were friendly), and enjoyed a great Reuben sandwich w/hand cut sweet potato fries. If you're in town for a few days, this is a great place to grab a burger & catch a game.

Nice sports bar with a pet friendly outdoor patio. Awesome burgers!

  • jd h.

Stopped by on Sunday afternoon when in town for a trade show. It is a small place with a bunch of TVs (it was NFL on every TV). I had shrimp and fries. Not bad -- lots better than Buffalo Wild Wings (which serves crappy food and has poor service). The service at Heroes was excellent -- great and attentive waitress. I like these types of places; I'd return.

  • Bob B.

Appears to be the best sports bar downtown, since we went to watch the Sugar Bowl, and with Alabama playing, it was super lively/friendly, great TVs, cheap prices and good service. Food was decent bar food. But it was the most happening bar downtown on New Years Day/Night. Solid.

  • David D.

We went there last night after arriving late to Mobile. Most other restaurants were closed. What a nice surprise. The wait staff was friendly and the food was very good. It was fresh, flavorful and very satisfying. When in Mobile check this one out for sure.

This is a pretty ok restaurant. You can get you a hamburger. You can get you some cold slaw. Don't nobody care. I got me a thing called a clipper that is a turkey sandwich that doesn't have nothing to do with football or basketball. And a cokecola. The thing that made me mad is that when I went batman wasn't there. There wasn't even any good superheroes there at all.

    (3)
  • Harley H.

Awesome place with even better service. I got the smoked brisket sandwich and my co-worker got the burger and they were both awesome. Server was extremely attentive and friendly. It wasn't very packed given that it was the first MNF game but it's kind of a small place anyways. Would love to return if I'm ever back in Mobile.

Service: prompt and friendly Atmosphere: sports bar with 12 large screen TVs in the main room and 1 TV in the smaller room. Food: Bacon Cheeseburger with coleslaw and french fries. The bacon Cheeseburger was the 3rd best that I have ever tasted (behind a place in Louisville, KY and one in Gatlinburg, TN). It was juicy and tasty. The meat was seasoned very well and the burger cooked to my preference. It came with in-house made Cole slaw that was a bit too "vinegary" and french fries that were nicely cooked. They were crinkle fries that had a nice semi-crunchy outside and a soft center. Plus, they were not overly salted. My friend had Red beans and rice with Conecuh sausage, garlic bread and a side of Cole slaw. The red beans and rice had nice flavor, but they were a little too soupy for her preference. The garlic bread was a hoagie bun flattened and grilled with butter and garlic. It was nicely grilled with just the right amount of butter, garlic and salt. My friend agreed that The Cole slaw had a bit too much vinegar and was too tart. Sweet tea was not too sweet....until you drink too much of it (but that's not the establishment's fault). Overall, the experience was good for a sports bar. If I lived in or visited Mobile, AL often, I would eat there again.

Food was okay but not particularly great value. Service was decent though, waitress very friendly so just about gets the 3 stars from me.

Came here on 6/15/14 (father's day night) for dinner with a friend. Of course we looked cheap but man I haven't gotten such bad customer service in awhile until I got here. At first, the first waitress that greeted us and got our drink orders was super nice but another waitress that took our food order got to us, it all went down hill from there. The second lady that got our food order did NOT engage us nor answered any of our questions in regards to the food. She just gave us the impression that "we need to hurry up so she can get away from us". I was very disappointed in the fact that my drink went empty and she saw that my drink was empty and she didn't even bother to as approach us to see if we wanted a refill nor bothered giving it any attention. As for the food, I ordered the Bacon cheeseburger with a side order of fries and their baked beans. The burger was delicious and on point. I personally liked their baked beans because last year when I came, I always got to have an order of their baked beans with any of my dishes. Kudos on the food and the first waitress that served us our drinks but as for the second waitress, I usually give a good 25-30% tip on top of a heart I usually make with a dollar but her customer service was so bad that I just paid my bill and walked out.

Great burgers, greatest baked beans ever. Ok but close , service great, nice place, plenty of screens playing different games, come here relax, get your drink on. Burger nicely grilled, yum, no frills perfect. So get your peeps and get on over here.

The only heroes here are the people decided to put a bar in this city. That is, if you define a hero as someone who does the unthinkable even in the face of logic that suggests you do otherwise. Then yeah, these are definitely heroes. Drink prices were decent. Nachos looked better than they tasted, but they were alright. I had one jalapeno that just took me out of commission for a few minutes. It was pretty embarrassing. I eat spicy food often enough, there was no excuse. But sometimes, it just happens. And you have to act like something crazy snuck in there even though you know it was just a potent jalapeno that hit that spot in your throat that just kills you. "What the... did they... cough... ah man... I need some water. I need some water!" But you don't have water. You have booze. So you get drunk and eventually the burn goes away. The embarrassment doesn't, though. It stays for a long time. Sometimes, it stays forever. Sometimes.

Great place for lunch or dinner! If you are a sports fanatic this is the place to be, TV's are everywhere! David and his staff are superb! Oh, tried the spinach crawfish dip this past weekend and it was delicious!@!

We came here to watch the NFL draft. It was our first visit to Downtown Mobile, so that was fun. They have tons of TVs and the waitress did change our TV to the draft so we could see it easily. The food was good. I had the chicken salad sandwich with fries and coleslaw. It wasn't anything earth-shattering, but it was yummy. My husband had the shrimp po' boy and said the same. The place was pretty busy, but service was good. The tables were sticky and the menus filthy. It definitely had that dive feeling. They also had drink specials which seemed really reasonable. I will probably return to watch NFL games in the fall!

  • Angie T.

This is THE place in downtown Mobile to watch a game. There are lots of big screen televisions playing whatever sport your heart desires. It's got a great loud (albeit somewhat rambunctious) atmosphere. Fun, fun, fun! I had a great Bloddy Mary here along with the Spinach and Crawfish dip appetizer* and service was friendly and fast. There is outdoor seating on the patio which looked great but we sat inside since it was raining. Overall, a great place to catch a game with friends while having some good food. *Crawfish and Spinach dip-crawfish, cream cheese and spinach served with warm pita wedges.
