Excellent Calzone. This cool fall weather is an ideal time to go to Venice Pizza, as their oven is a very hot one. My wife and I shared a medium Calzone. We had them add pepperoni, mushrooms and green peppers. It was the best calzone I've had anywhere.

Yesterday, my friend and I were having an all day study-pool session, and we all know how sun and exercise makes you hungry (our brains were exercising and that's tough work). So we decided to order a pizza, carry out. The restaurant was just a tiny little hole in the wall, but the smells were phenomenal. There was a big pizza sitting in the glass and I just wanted to reach in and snatch it. We got home and started cramming it into our mouths. Yummmm!!! Absolutely delicious! My only little-bitty complaint is, I wish there would have been more pesto. There was hardly any on it, and that was one of the main determining factors in choosing that particular pizza. Although, obviously, it was still awesome and I will go back!

Pretty darn impressed. I was in town visiting my little brother when we decided to stop in for a slice. Delicious pizza, friendly service, and incredibly reasonable in price. I'll definitely be back.

Being down south its hard to find good pizza. these guys know how to make a pie. I was reminded of the great food you can find in NYC or Philly.

We were visiting from out of town and had had a long hot day traipsing around the rocket center. We chose Venice because the four of us love pizza, it was close by, and got good reviews. The menu is enormous, so there's pretty much anything you could want. Unless you want a drink in a glass. Or ice. My husband ordered water and it came to him unchilled, straight out of the tap in a Styrofoam cup. The only cold drinks are single serve in either a bottle or can. We decided on a plain cheese pizza and a Mexican pizza and sat to rest our feet. Unfortunately there was to be no cooling off. The dining room was hot and stuffy with absolutely no air flow. The pizza came quickly and was hot. It looked delicious, but was a complete let down. The cheese pizza had barely any sauce, so it was like eating cheese bread. The crust was so tough you couldn't cut it with a knife and you really had to gnaw on it to get a bite. The Mexican pizza was absolutely smothered in jalapeño peppers, so the only flavor you tasted was jalapeño pepper even after taking them off. The crust on this one was much better. It was actually just the right amount of crunchy. Overall, the experience of sweating in a hot room eating hot, overly spicy pizza was not pleasant. If this is what passes for great pizza in Huntsville, then I'd hate to taste the bad pizza.

There are a lot of items to choose from. I have been there 4 times and tried the calzone, pizza slices, and sandwiches. They always say that if you have a huge menu, the restaurant may not be able to provide good quality for so many items. The Calzones were very good but if you get a medium, be hungry as the sizes are huge. I don't like the pricing structure for calzones though as it is expensive when you add items that make it tasty. It is only cost effective if you get cheese or 1 topping. Pizzas are good. The sandwiches have a lot to be desired. The bread was almost stale with no taste. The meat was also not that great on the Philly. I will still go there because of location to work, but just remember they are proving quantity of choices and not necessarily quality.

It's your average pizza place, thus the 3 stars: OK, but not great. We ordered breaded mushrooms (which are breaded with a pizza-tasting coating and served with marinara sauce, so points for originality on that, even though taste-wise they were just average), a Philly cheese steak pizza, and a white pizza with margherita toppings (just no red sauce). Everything was OK. It was a convenient stop in for us on the way home (for a take-out order), and for that reason alone, I might stop in here, again. I definitely would NOT eat in -- not a welcoming or inviting atmosphere in the dining room. Stick to delivery or take-out.

We love this place! A great price and REAL PIZZA!!! We are from NH and this is the closest to real Italian pizza we have had since we moved here!! Bellisima

Really good first experience here. We ordered the Mediterraneon and Lasagna pizzas, and both were very good and very unique from the usual pizza places.

I order from quite frequently at work. I have always enjoyed what I've had. The calzones are amazing!

Travel a lot and trying to find local places open late is difficult to say the least, luckily they were and ordered a large pizza. People were extremely friendly and the pizza was excellent. I'm from NY and gotta have slice you can fold, was perfect for that. not greasy at all and ate more than I should have in one sitting was so good. Definitely will return if in the area.

No issues with the service on my visit there everyone was nice. There is extremely limited seating, like maybe 4-5 tables that comfortably seat 2 people so not ideal for dine in. They did have a few tables out side, as another review indicated their oven is hot and due to the small size of the dining area its also hot. No cups with ice, only canned and bottled drinks. The pizza was just ok to me, we had a pepperoni, beef and bacon pizza. The hamburger had a funny/undesirable taste to me. We also had hot wings which were pretty good, they were not completely tossed in sauce but they still were decent.

Holy moly. This place has some the the best pizza I've ever tried. I love pizza. I would eat it every day of the week if I wanted to end up on 'My 600 Pound Life.' I was recently in town with my boyfriend on business. He had lunch meeting & I decided to order a pizza & take it back to the hotel room. I skimmed the menu & landed on a small 'meat deluxe pizza' that includes pepperoni, ham, sausage & bacon for $10.50. I called in the order & was told it would be about 15 minutes. I arrived to find it located in an older strip mall. It didn't look too big on the inside of the restaurant. You can dine inside, but I took mine to go. The cashier was quick & friendly & I was on my way with my pizza. I could tell the pizza was loaded with toppings even before I opened the box because it was heavy. As I pressed the elevator call button I could tell that my mouth was salivating. I fumbled with the keycard & opened the hotel room door. Butterflies in my stomach. I laid the pizza on the bed & opened it up. Oh. My. God. Pizza heaven. The pizza was loaded with toppings, cheese was glistening in the light. The pizza was cut into 6 pieces. I was able to down 4 before I told myself to stop. Seriously. The pizza was amazing. It had the right about of crust, the right amount of toppings & cheese. It was crisp on the bottom but not hard. The meats all tastes fresh & were flavorful. Just look at that side view of the pizza. It's literally 3/4 an inch of toppings. I even ate the two pieces cold later that night & it was still yummy. I'm sad I live two hours away from this place. Next time we're in town I'm going to try this place again.

The pizza is good. Cheese sticks are fair. The wings are pretty good too. I give them 3 because I've ordered from them twice and both times I can't get a simple packet of crushed red pepper flakes. Sucks since I like them and I let them know that I didn't get any on the first order. Need to care a bit more.

First off the only reason that I'm giving this restaurant at four star review is because the pizza is just that good!!! However, I was staying at a hotel nearby, and it took nearly 2 hours for it to be delivered. When he finally showed, the first thing out of his mouth was that there was an accident nearby and that's why it had taken so long. He then asked me "if I still wanted it"? I asked him if it was cold? It was slightly cold... But no discount was offered for my inconvenience or for the substandard product that I paid full price for... Including tip. I completely understand this. Things happen. However, they had my cell phone number... And could've called and let me know at any moment. This would've been sufficient service for me. Something to remember about quality customer service and your reputation... Customers just want to be informed. We are actually pretty understanding when you take the time to let us know.

  • Felipe L.

Okay where to start, first-time here, the reviews are half and half, so I agree, the pizza looks beautiful, toppings are massive, cheese is loaded, it's a very heavy pie, I bravely ordered a medium, could only down 4 slices and barely. But! not sure if the pork or beef topping had a slight gamey taste, and that is something hard to overlook on my book, never had this problem in a pizza place, it was not over wellming, but just a hint to push me back, lots of Italian spices on pizza. It is ok pizza, but not enough to bring me back

Disappointing. Based on the Yelp reviews and the Venice Pizza FB page, we had high expectations for this place. We ordered our usual Italian meals -- me, a Veal Parmigiana dinner, her, a Chicken Parmigiana dinner. Basically, the sauce was flavorless, did not taste of tomato at all. Diner quality, IMO. My Veal was heavy on the breading. Meals came out 30 seconds after the salad did. No butter provided for our bread. When our waitress brought back the butter, it had a funky taste to it, rancid. Needless to say, we didn't put anymore butter on our bread. This place would be out of business if they were in the Northeast. I'm sorry, but it was that substandard. Also, take a look at the pic of my Veal Parmigiana -- served in a takeout container. C'mon, that's sad.

Decent tasting pizza here. We wanted something different from our usual C_stc_ Pizza and decided to find a pizza place we could dine-in at. So we came here based on the Yelp reviews. Glad we did! A self-explanatory menu was on the wall at waist/eye level upon walking in, or one could opt for a paper copy on the counter. Whether dining in or taking out, we all place our orders first at the register with the friendly cashier, unless one called it in. Diners have a choice of booths or tables to sit at at the right side of the entrance. We opted for a cozy comfy booth. Although the decor could use some MAJOR updating, we thought the pizza was delicious. For our first dine-in experience we ordered a large 14" House Special Pizza for the two of us to share. This Specialty Pizza was delivered oozing hot to our table within about 15 minutes. It came w impressively thick slices of sausages, pepperoni, ground beef, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers on top of a perfectly baked crust that was crunchy on the outside and yummy on the inside. It was hot, delicious, and more than enough for two hungraaay adults. 8) Yes, you can bet there were leftovers to take home. Toward the end of our night and to add to our pleasant experience, we got to meet a fellow Yelper who also stopped in. 8D How cool and rare is that?! While majority of my Yelp buds are in CA and throughout the nation and w just a handful here in the neighborhood, I'd expect run ins w many in California, but never expected it here in the south. Nevertheless, it was nice putting a face w a local Yelper and getting to know one another more and talking in person. No longer a stranger, Mr. Jeremy! ;P We seriously need to get some UYEs scheduled out here!! Who needs a CM here in the ville anyways?! 8D Well, it still would be nice w all the cool & exciting shindigs and free schwag and such Yelp puts on at the big metro cities. But at the rate Birmingham is going, it'll probably be years before HSV gets a CM. 8( [sigh] Anywhooo... We expect to come back here soon. Probably will try the Calzones next time as we hear they're good. To sum things up: 1.5-stars for the decor... It's more like a hole in the wall kind of place. And they get a solid 4-stars for their pizza! 8D

Since my last review, I started to order party size pizzas from them and have them delivered to work, for work lunches or overtime dinners. So simple, so convenient, the portions are so generous, and everyone loves them. I believe the crowd's favorite is the Meat Deluxe, followed by the Venice Supreme, then House Special, then Vegetarian. Other than pizzas, their calamari reminds me more of the European style--fried, but not crispy. The tiramisu is pretty good. I was told their strombolis are huge.

  • Sakura W.

We like their pizza and decided to order and try the other items on their menu last week.... BIG MIstake!! We spent over $60.00 - Calamari was over fried - not edible...gyros had rotten lettuce on it....Hot Pastrami sub had one slice of meat on it (really!!??). Took 1 bite and was really disappointed!! Guess the lasagna and calzone was ok - Husband & son ate that. Will order pizza again but nothing else on the menu. So overall - I was NOT happy and really disappointed!!

  • Sebastian B.

You can't fault them for trying. The place is really basic inside you order at the counter pay and sit down they'll run your food out to you. I had the meatball sub and the bread was huge the meatballs although edible were golf ball sized and relatively flavorless. The bread was decent and the sauce was sort of out of a jar-ish. I'm jaded being an Italian American from NJ and making my own masterpiece meatballs an tomato sauce at home. Not to say, if it was exceptional I would definitely tell you so. The place was boiler plate pizzeria where all the ingredients come from one supplier to make profit not great food. Go here for cheap sustenance not for a memorable meal.

Excellent! We ordered a 21 inch pepperoni and a medium? Greek. The Greek was fabulous grape leaves and extra olives, Roma tomatoes. The 21 inch pizza is EXTRA large my friends!

If you like good pizza and have not found it in Huntsville yet, you need to try this place. I tried Venice back in August after my birthday based on what I heard from colleagues of mine. The pizza is very authentic and you know it is good when you and you see a fellow "Elite" Yelper with her husband eating pizza when you go. The Meatball Parm sandwich is by far the best thing I have tried besides their pizzas. I also enjoy the calzone they offer, when I ordered a "Medium" I was expecting it to be decent size, but no it was HUGE! Another plus to this place is that they will pretty much deliver anywhere in the City of Huntsville and even out to Triana and Athens from what one worker told me.

Pizza was great! The staff were so friendly and helpful! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there. Decor is definitely dated and could use updating!

The pizza and calzones are great but do NOT order their turkey sub or cold subs. Extremely disappointing. The meat is thick, wet and absolutely gross. Hot subs are good though.

Had the house pizza party size for lunch as part of a larger group. Normally I watch what I eat (had Greek yogurt for breakfast and celery and peanut for the mid morning snack), but after trying the pizza for the first time, I couldn't help but have 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, and 5ths. It was that good. I'm typically a papa johns fan with dominos a distant second, but Venice is by far the best. Lots of cheese, thin crust, and lots of fixings. Son has a birthday party Saturday and will be ordering the party pizza for the party. I'm sold on Venice. From the menu, the price isn't that bad either for the quality. Supposedly $22 for the super size which is ginormous.

We stopped here because we like to taste new pizza that isn't chain-pizza. Unfortunately, every chain pizza experience I've ever had is better. When I say "experience" I include the pizza, the service, the environment, the cleanliness, the interaction with staff who aren't serving customers directly, etc. The whole package. If I were to break it down and rate each of those areas, the pizza itself would still get a 2. It was OK. They don't serve ice, period. That means you can get a bottled soda or bottled water but no ice water. They'll serve you room temp tap water, however. The customer service risk you take with a mom and pops place is that there is generally little or no training in this dept. Either you have it or you don't. The person who took our orders didn't have it and didn't seem to want it. Would not visit here again because of the vast number of better experiences available. When you get OK pizza, warm water and only fair service, why spend $30 here when you can do it somewhere else? My 3 year old son rated the bathroom as, "Dad, this bathroom is gross." Nuff said.

When I first moved to Huntsville from Connecticut I was worried about my pizza options. Contrary to popular belief, Connecticut is the pizza capital of the country with over 7,000 independent pizza places and under 3 million people. That's some serious options. Well somehow I stumbled across Venice some 3 years ago, maybe more, and I am glad I did. Now as I always say, I'm a pizza junkie. I like to judge a pizza on its sauce, crust, toppings and cheese. Specialty pizzas are special, and not for my normal criteria. Anyway, the actual restaurant location, size, decor is the only negative. They need to be bigger, with more tables, and better AC. That's why I don't give them 5 stars. Now to the important part The toppings, always generous and alway tasty. Doesn't matter what you get. Sauce - one of my favorites. I could literally drink their sauce from a glass and be happy. I assume they use San Marzano's, but if not, they are still great. Cheese - always the right amount of cheese, and you get that East Coast pull factor. I love being able to pull the cheese, and its just great flavor. If you don't like a lot of cheese tell them light on the cheese and you'll still be happy. Crust - 14" of excellent crust. fresh dough prepared and cooked properly goes a long way. Love the crust! == Rarely do I stray from the pizzas, but when I do, the calzones are excellent. Oh MY! Just fantastic! == Service - always friendly, always fast, and people so nice everyone is their friend. = What would be nice is if they would open up a location West of County Line ;-)

I never thought I would find a great pizza joint in Huntsville reminiscent of what I eat up north in Philadelphia. OMG, I love Venice Pizza!! My favorite so far is a small meatball and green pepper pizza. Absolutely delicious. The customer service is top notch and I will definitely try the rest of the menu. My order is always correct and the counter staff is courteous and helpful with menu suggestions. I've taken all my orders so far to go so I can't comment on dining in service. Oh, and they deliver!! If you want REAL pizza that is delicious, please give Venice Pizza your business. I will edit my rating after I try out their wings, dinner platters, and other offerings.

When I walked in to Venice Pizza, the first thing I saw was the menu. It was on the wall and let me tell you, it was massive. I thought this was a pizza place. There was hot wings, gyros, sandwiches and much more. Then we ordered...my friends and I ordered a Hawaiian pizza and another one that had a lot of meat, peppers, mushrooms, and onions. We also got a 2 liter bottle of soda. For some reason, their was no ice. Ikr. How can a place not have ice? But anyway, we sat down at a decent size table in a slightly warmer than usual room. Only about five minutes later, we got our pizzas. I started with the Hawaiian and it was delicious. I also enjoyed the other one but not quite as much as the Hawaiian pizza. The service was also very good. They were nice and answered any of the questions we had. So overall, this restaurant isn't the nicest looking, but the pizza was amazing I would definitely come back here if I am ever in town again.

Venice Pizza is good, and good at a large variety of menu items. I recall the menu being very extensive and varied. I ate at Venice alot when my office was nearby and enjoyed that, at the time (~ 1 year ago), Venice would deliver free with a minimum $8.00 order. This is really handy when you're working through lunch and/or want some variety from the standards at the Bridge Street which is right by Venice. You should try it! Good pizza, good salads, calzones, meatball subs, and a colleague likes their dessert items.

I ordered boneless BBQ wings. I waited for 20 minutes, and got hot spicy wings with bones. How do you mess that up? Seriously? I had already gotten home by the time I figured it out. Didn't think it would be that hard of an order.

We just tried it out for lunch. The space is very small, and so most of it is taken up with the kitchen. There are a few tables inside and three outside, each good for about 2-3 people. In short, it is more of a carry-out or delivery establishment. The menu is incredibly daunting as they serve everything from pizza, calzones, and pasta to burgers, mussels, and gyros. We ordered a small pepperoni pizza (my personal litmus for pizza places) and a chicken gyro, which comes with fries. We met a friend for lunch who ordered a slice of pizza and an appetizer of mussels marinara about 5 minutes after we had ordered. He had finished eating before we were served. Both orders were somewhat awkwardly taken, but I attribute this to new business adjustment issues. The pizza was good, the crust was a good thickness (for me) and very round and regular. There was a good balance of cheese, sauce, and pepperoni and a nice light golden tone to the cheese; a bit greasy. The gyro was served on a slightly odd pita-like perforated flatbread, but was good. The chicken was well cooked, the vegetables fresh, and the tzaziki cucumbery. Everything is mixed up together, so if there is anything unwanted in the gryo, it may need to be ordered without or at least on the side. The gyro came with a plate of fries that were thin and crispy and freshly made. We both opted for water and bottled is the only option here. The same is true for all of the beverages, save perhaps coffee. For a delivery fee of $1.25, the option of having it brought to you seems like a good thing if you live in the area and is probably the main intention or the business. Eating on location will be difficult if there is any sort of crowd, and there is the issue of the wait. Overall, we have hopes that Venice Pizza will be a good place for this kind of local option, but there are a few issues they need to work out before it becomes a sure thing.

While I can only speak for their pizza (and perhaps for their garlic knots), it is growing on me. Had a sausage, bacon, and green pepper pie this week and it hit the spot. Also, anchovies remain a topping option, which cannot be said for all pizza places. I think they've earned the fourth star.

Venice Pizza is a favorite for my family. Love the menu variety...something for everyone in the family. I personally love the pizzas with the fresh spinach. My husband prefers the calzones and two of my kids get subs: one loves the Philly cheesesteak, the other likes the cold subs. Very quick and friendly service. The dining area is VERY small, so for us it is a carry out restaurant, though we have eaten inside. The crust is more of a New York style. Did I say I love Venice Pizza so much it's what we had for my birthday dinner?

This is good, inexpensive pizza joint. I have been in Huntsville for a few weeks and was worried I would not find a good pizza shop. I finally found one that should satisfy my need for a good inexpensive meal. Unfortunately, I could not try their pizza by the slice (it was just after 9 PM), but they offered a small one topping pizza for only five bucks. I took the bait, and I am hooked both by their choice of toppings (I had eggplant) and their crust (chewy and thin). Sure the place lacks ambiance, but last I looked so do most really good pizza joints.

Absolutely delicious pizza, i always sit at the tables out side so its always fresh and crunchy. I love the crust, fresh made in house and all toppings fresh sliced and grated cheeses. You can taste the love. Even make there own marinara! I have never had it delivered cause i hate box steamed pizza so i always eat in. Small pepperoni sausage and onion hits the spot every time. Keep it up guys and eventually get a bigger dinninv room. Only place i go for pizza any more.

I completely understand this. Things happen. However, they had my cell phone number... And could've called and let me know at any moment. This would've been sufficient service for me. Something to remember about quality customer service and your reputation... Customers just want to be informed. We are actually pretty understanding when you take the time to let us know.

Excellent! We ordered a 21 inch pepperoni and a medium? Greek. The Greek was fabulous grape leaves and extra olives, Roma tomatoes. The 21 inch pizza is EXTRA large my friends!

Bellisima

Everything is hot and FRESH! The marinara is like biting into a juicy, fresh tomato. Also, they have the best carrot cake I've ever had.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
