Newk's is a favorite spot for us because they have individual pizzas, salads, soup and sandwiches. The pepperoni pizzas are very good, a thin crust and usually golden brown on top, yum! in addition to the pepperoni it also has sliced tomatoes, I like the addition but be aware if you would rather have it without. The salads are ridiculously big but tasty. They toss the salad in the dressing which I generally appreciate but I find it often over dressed and over powering, the next time I'm going to ask them to use 1/2 the "normal" amount of dressing. I really like the chicken you can add to the salad, it's grilled and very thinly sliced. As others have mentioned the sandwiches are a bit on the small side for the price, I usually get the 1/2 and 1/2 combo so this generally doesn't bother me. One of the only issues I have is that it's really noise.

Newk's is a great alternative when you get tired of the usual deli places around Huntsville. It's got a pretty central location and it usually lives up to the "Express" in the name. Seating also seems pretty plentiful, but I think it could probably fill up on a heavy lunch day like Friday. Everything on the menu is well-prepared and pretty tasty. The sandwiches are slightly on the small side for what you pay, but they are also delicious. My personal favorite is the pesto chicken sandwich. I also like to get the half-salad/half-sandwich combo. The half-salads are fairly large. In fact, if you order a regular salad you may find it to be too large. The personal-sized pizzas are also quite tasty. There's plenty of extra sides to put on your salad. I usually pick up a pack of crunchy bread sticks and munch on them while I wait on my food to be brought to the table. The drinks are expensive but also quite large and you can get all the refills you want in the sturdy plastic take-home cup.

My first Newks experience was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and I wasn't all that impressed. The food was not bad but nothing to rave about either. I have yet to visit Newks here in Huntsville, however, I attended an event which was catered by Newks and couldn't have been happier with that decision. The box lunch I decided on was a turkey sandwich on a crescent roll with the usual turkey sandwich trimmings. I was very impressed. Impressed to the point that I'm giving four stars for a turkey sandwich. Some of the other options for the box lunch were ham, veggie, and chicken salad. The lunch included baked lays and a delightful brownie. Man, the brownie was amazing and I was unable to finish the whole thing! If you're getting lunch catered and want the usual choices with slight improvements, Newks is a good way to go!

I like Newk's. However, get there before noon... EEKS what a crowd and no where at all to sit. Luckily someone was there I knew and we buddied up. Request to go light on the dressing for salads unless you like it swimming. I like the chicken salad sandwich, toasted, myself. Where ARE the trash cans!

This is more than just a pizza place. They have great sandwiches and soups too. I ha the chicken salad sandwich and the chili. Food was good and fresh. The sandwich came with a fruit cup that actually looked appealing. The fruit was firm and the flavors of the fruits did not overwhelm each other. Chili was good. On a spicy scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the hottest, it was probably a 2. Free wifi is nice too.

The thin crust was amazing! I had the Debra pizza. While it was a little heavy on the olive oil, the taste was delicious. The staff was not as rude as I thought they were going to be based on the other reviews. Since it was my first time at any Newks, I had a lot of questions that she answered to the best of her ability. She couldn't tell me what all the ingredients were. Overall, pretty decent. I will go back again!

Newk's is nothing special. It's way overpriced for food I could make at home. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and was not impressed. It is literally chicken, pesto, and bread. There were, however, an ungodly amount of raw red and orange bell peppers on it, also. They seemed like an afterthought. Wish Jade Palace would come back.

A casual soup, salad & sandwich cafe, I find Newks to be really good quality food. With a drink, you can expect to pay around the $10 price point for your meal

Big portions but not inexpensive. I ordered a Greek salad, a cup of soup and a soda for $13 for lunch. Fast service, clean tables. You would not know its a deli type place from the outside, it looks like a chuck e cheese! They should put "deli" on their sign outside , I would've never gone there on my own.

Second time to a Newk's. First time to this location. I had "The Royal" and the lobster crab bisque. Sandwich was fresh and flavorful. Bisque was good. Service was excellent and restaurant was clean. Will be back.

Don't even bother with this place. We showed up an hour before close and were told that they wouldn't serve us over half the menu but wouldn't explain why. The establishment was empty so I guess that's why.

This was my first newk's experience. Lots of relatively healthy choices on the menu and a solid variety of foods. Gourmet is a stretch, but compared to the choices in the area (cici's pizza, chick fillet), the choices were pretty gourmet and fresh. I got it to go, and they were quick and friendly. They also have beer and wine on the menu. I'll go back before this trip is over.

I love Newk's. It is my favorite lunch spot in the area. I usually get the cup of soup and 1/2 sandwich combo. The Lobster Crab Bisque is so good I haven't ventured out and tried another one of their soups. As far as the sandwiches, I've had the Shrimp Po Boy, the Italian, and the Newk's Q. All of them were pretty great. The staff has always been friendly and I've never had to wait long for my order.

The Royal Sandwich is the way to go! Had it for lunch today w/ a cup of their crawfish bisque....

I LOVE Newk's! The people here are the friendliest, most helpful people, and the food is fresh, original and ample. The "bar" with spicy jalepenos, peppers, sauces just makes me so happy. The iced tea variety (made with spenda, unsweet, or tea) and the huge cups make me happy. I have had two things here that I adore - the black and blue salad -- rare roast beef, grape tomatoes, crunchy pecans, blue cheese, red onion and of course I get balsamic dressing and add spicy peppers. The greek was phenomenal - tons of olives, sliced pepperoncini (so they don't squirt at you when you bite into them), really good chicken that was off of a grill (not reconstituted like the stuff from Panera, Atlanta bread, etc.). This is a great lunch spot - soup, salad, sandwich - they deliver. I would go here weekly if I could!

Newk's seems like the perfect place for a quick lunch. I had a steak salad and it was a good size with a good amount of toppings. The dressing was my only complaint - I got the balsamic vinaigrette but it was basically olive oil with some flecks in it. Other than that, their menu seems full of great stuff!

I ordered my usual: The Simply salad with no croutons. Unfortunately, the crackers Newk's has sitting out for its customers are stale. My salad was ok, nothing special. It'll be awhile before I eat here again.

Newks is one of those places you go when you need sustenance, don't eat fat food, and can't think of anywhere else to go. It's quick, convenient with 2 locations, and the food is slightly above Panera quality. I do like the pizzas becasue they are large enough to save leftovers for the next day, and come with plenty of toppings. The salads are decent as well although don't try to customize one as they have yet to get one of my salad orders correct. What I really don't like about this place are the girls who ring you up. Why are they so sullen? I've been coming here for months and have not seen the attitudes change-I think that must be one of the interview questions when they hire someone-"so, how well can you frown at a customer?" Oh, and they hate being asked questions so make sure you don't have any of those. As long as you know what you want and don't have any substitutions for any of the pizza or salad ingredients, just throw your money over the counter and you should be OK.

I really liked this place. Only went one time - for lunch. It felt a little bit rushed when first entering as I wasn't really sure how the place was set up. but darn good sandwich.

Tonight I picked up take out and had my two kids with me alone. The place was NOT busy at all and I was really taken back that no one helped me carry out my order, which included a pizza that REALLY needed to stay flat. The staff acted like me asking for a bag to carry everything in was totally out of line. After I finally got my food home, I found out that our pizza was completely ruined because ALL of the toppings had slid off to the side of the pizza. The salad I ordered was about half of the normal size and had very few toppings - I mean, what can you do with 1 (one) artichoke heart? I normally really love this place but I am very very disappointed with the service and quality I received.

Fantastic place. I eat at Newks every time I visit Huntsville, and often, multiple times each visit. The food is outstanding, and a great change of pace from what you can otherwise find on University Dr. It's like Panera, but with way more interesting options. And more flavor. Worth every penny. I particularly like the Pesto Chicken sandwich.

I had ordered chicken caesar salads to-go and was very disappointed. I hope this is because it was a to go item. The salad was dry and there wasn't much dressing provided. There was a great 2 pieces of bread sticks that came with it and their brownie was good. Otherwise, I wasn't able to finish the salad itself.

This is the first time I've been to Newk's in several years. When I lived in Tuscaloosa I went to the one there a few times and was never very impressed with the food. However, the one here in Huntsville was great. I had a half salad half sandwich meal with the club sandwich. Both the sandwich and salad were very good and even though they were busy the food came out pretty quickly. My boyfriend got the Debra pizza and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend that pizza or the club sandwich. It was about $20 for both of us. I will definitely be going back to Newks in the near future.
