I'd rather not bother with Los Mariachis anymore; however, my ladies' b'day group loves it, so I'm stuck. We've gone here 1-2 times a year for ~ 4 years now. I guess my friends like it b/c Mariachis's has a huge sombrero that the b'day person can wear on their head and if you want, they will sing "happy b'day" to you, but they did not at this month's gathering. I think my friends like it, too, because it is (as are many "Mexican" restaurants) decorated with bright colors and its close proximity to everyone's house (well, not mine). This week's b'day group visit was an epic fail for me personally, although one other in my group did remark that "the service is really bad today!" Our server was the disappearing type. He showed up occasionally, but never when needed. We (party of 5) waited to be greeted, upon being seated; then waited to get drink orders taken; then waited for drinks to be brought; then waited ~ 20+ minutes t place our order; after tracking the waiter down. This poor waiter was clueless as far as paying attention to diner's needs. For example, when sharing my lackluckster chicken nacho appetizer with friend across the table (zero flavor-chicken tasted fresh from a crock pot and instead of a flavorful pepper, they used a boiled-tasting green bell pepper--cheese was the only redeeming factor on the plate), a tall glass of water spilled on the slightly tilted table, all over my dress, and onto the floor, continuing to drip throughout the meal. We're talking 20 ounces of water. How can someone not notice this and help out?!?!?! I had to go from table to table where they had napkins out in little napkin holders and repeatedly mop up the spill, not to mention my sad nachos were further ruined by being half-covered with ice cubes. Waiter never helped out. Waiter never offered to replace nachos. It was sad for me. My b'day friend was enjoying herself so I did not want to elevate the incident to anyone, not that it would have done any good. Also, they had live entertainment with random trivia questions thrown in by the singer/guitarist. This entertainment was so loud in such a small place that none of us could converse. My party of b'day revelers kept praying this guy would take a break. They have a lovely patio out front and it made me wonder why they could not put the entertainment on the patio, so patrons could wander in and out to listen to the songs that they wanted to hear. NO one was seated on the patio, it would have been perfect and it was not too hot that day. Normally, I order take out for dear Hubs, but didn't bother due to the flavorless quality of the food. He loves chicken quesadillas, but I doubt they would have been good, since canned chicken had more flavor than the chicken on my nachos. So, I didn't bother with that. I'm hopeful that those of my friends mark Los Mariachis off the b'day list, and maybe the loud music was the deal breaker this time for others in my party. You can get more flavorful "Mexican" a block north at Taco Bell, and better service there, too. Sorry Los Mariachis .

Good drinks, average food. Service... Meh, ok. Close to downtown = I'm a repeat customer.

Margarita's are great, beer prices are good, food is above average for this type of dining, and the staff is very friendly. I went here to meet friends a couple years ago and have been coming back ever since. In the summer time, the side patio is where it's at.

Just sampled the lunch buffet, and am I stuffed! Never seen such a large Mexican buffet, so most anything you'd want from the regular menu is on it. The server was very attentive and courteous, checking back with us often. BTW, when I read a review that contains the phrase "worst food ever" it most likely comes from a difficult customer -- the type who can never be pleased. So, I thought it only fair that I include my positive review here.

My wife and I ate during lunch. It wasn't very crowded or loud, so that's good. The food was average. The decorations were typical for a Mexican restaurant. I usually don't comment on seating, but the seats at Los Mariachis were quite uncomfortable. It was just an average restuarant.

Great Place! I've been to several good Mexican restaurants in Huntsville, this one is great!

I like this place. 2 times in two completely different seasons have yielded the same results. In Huntsville, I'll take that as a win. I came here a while back with medical staff and found this to be one of their consistent lunch spots so I figured "what the hell? If it attempts to kill me, at least I'll be in good hands." Turns out... this no-frills place actually serves decent Mexican fare. I have no idea why they have a lunch buffet--no, I take that back... I do. I have no idea why anyone would eat it with so many classic dishes on the menu. The late lunch crew and I stopped in today for puerco con chili Verde and the azteca fajitas... both were solid selections. I had something similar to the azteca fajitas last time I was here and I think it was even better than this time, but still solid. Sweet tea everywhere but I noticed a few more beverage choices... other than the margarita slushy machine in the corner.

Probably the worst mexican food I have ever had. The three different servers we had we all rude and rushed us the whole time. We had to get our own silverware and napkins. Even the cheese dip and chips were cold. Pretty much just spent $40 on food we barely touched.

I waited until I had eaten here at least a handful of times to get (and therefore, give) an accurate representation of the food.. Which I deem to be simply average. I do like that there are many options (typical of a Mexican restaurant, I know) but this one offers a greater variety paired with different spices/sauces. The salsa, however, is well below average. It is so thin and watery that you would need a scoop chip (not offered) in order to actually get anything of substance on the chip. Each time, the service has been slow but adequate and the servers are very friendly.

Better than two, but couldn't quite see 3 stars. Service is very good and staff are very friendly. It is an ok place if you want something quick and easy that is close to home or work. However, there are better Mexican places in town. Not bad, but just a solid ok.

I really like this place. Its not too crowded, too big, or too loud, so its good if you need to get in and out during lunch and really feel like you had a peaceful break and great food away from the larger restaurant scene. The steak fajitas are awesome and nicely portioned. The fajita special for two is well worth $14.99. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well.

The service is horrible. When hardly anyone is there the staff just sit at tables talking to each other. Also, they have Mexican sounding names on the menu but that doesn't mean you're going to get what it says. Their fried ice cream is vanilla ice cream with a little chocolate syrup. The obese American waitress snorted out a chuckle when I pointed out it wasn't fried and said that was the way it was supposed to be because "you c'aint fry ice cream, it would melt".

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
