First time in. We were seated promptly and received drinks. The salsa was good and chips were fresh. The at table guacamole was very tasty. I ordered the Angel plate which is pictured in the photos and it was a deep friend tortilla filled with Steak, Chicken, Shrimp and covered in cheese sauce. My goodness that was fantastic you have to try it. Service was great. Highly recommend from my first visit.

There are SO many better choices for mexican/texmex in Huntsville! Food 2/5: the food is pretty basic and the ingredients don't seem to be of very high quality. The chicken and steak look and taste like microwaveable chicken/steak strips that you can get from Walmart. Service 3/5: service is average, usually seated promptly but I often have to wait a decent amount of time to get a refill. However, the staff is very friendly. Atmosphere 3/5: they have some great things going in this area such as trivia night, but overall it's pretty much the same atmosphere as every other mexican restaurant in town.

This place is one of best mexican restaurants in Huntsville, I'd even put it above Phil Sandoval's. I've never had anything here that wasn't great, they are constantly updating their menu. And they have the best salsa in town! They make their own margarita mix and it's not filled with high fructose junk like you see at 99% of all other Mexican joints. They have unique drinks from their own recipes, like my favorite the coconut margarita (with coconut instead of salt). There's no comparison of this place to other places like Rosie's Cantina which IMO is americanized and horrible. Phil Sandovals comes in second behind Los Trojas. I thought this place when they opened would be just another mexican place in a strip mall, but the word quickly got out -- this place is packed every weekend. They have live entertainment too! It's a non-smoking place (good) but there's a smoking area (outside) where you can eat too. I highly recommend Los Trojas!!!

I am recently new to this side of Huntsville, and being the tex mex connoisseur I am, this was one of my first stops. Very nice service and has a great feel to it! I tend to do a chimi, but I heard about their angel's plate and it was every bit as great as everyone has said. Will be eating there again. And again. And again.

Don't miss out on Tuesday night trivia @ 7:00 p.m! There are rewards for the teams that take first, second, and third place. And if you can find a friend to split it with, their fajitas are wonderful.

Great food and great tasting margaritas. Loved the atmosphere and our waitress was very friendly. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend the Las Trojas signature fajitas but make sure you bring an appetite. I could not finish my Trojas fajitas for one . The Margarona was on point so make sure you try it.

I have been coming here for several years and never had a problem until the other night. This was the first time our service was horrible! I ordered peach agua fresca it was overly sugared kool-aid just nasty. Then when I got my meal it was cold! We didn't see our server Alfredo for about 10 mins after our food arrived. Yes I ate a couple of bites cause I'm hungry, it was just soggy and gross!!! So NOT ONCE did Alfredo ask us how our food was. We get the bill and my spouse said my food was cold could you take it off or give us half off? He informed us that since we did not let him know before the ticket went in he could not take it off or adjust it!!! Really??? How could we you never came over and asked us anything. I have never been treated so rude and disrespectful at an establishment. I am thinking twice about going here again.

If you are looking for good Mexican food. This is not the place to go. Can you imagine a place that has to offer quiz games with prizes to gain an audience. I got the carne asada. It was a large portion, but it was very tough and had no flavor. The beans were good and the salad was OK. I did not try the rice. The chips that came with the salsa were ok as was the salsa. The staff was attentive and friendly. I would say that it is good for young adults looking for a place to go. I will not return to this place.

Really enjoy this place from the time you walk in until you leave! Great wait staff that are friendly and even when you're not in their section remember you and are friendly! Food is always good and the margaritas are the best I've had in Huntsville. You should try this place!

I've been eating here once a week recently with a group of friends. The atmosphere is fantastic. On Wednesday's they have this guy (Edgar) who's basically a one man band. He plays all kinds of terrible covers and then he'll get out and dance with everyone on the "dance floor". He sorta makes the place on Wednesday nights. The service is very fast and the margaritas are top notch (a large list of flavors to choose from and a very cool "margarona" creation). The food is about on par with any other typical Mexican restaurant in town, but not as good as Rosie's or Phil Sandovals. The chips, salsa, and cheese dip are pretty sub-par. The chips are super crunchy (stale almost), the salsa doesn't have much of a kick, and the cheese dip is runny.

    Best margarita in town!

Easily the best Mexican restaurant around. My husband and I are so proud to have found them! It gets a little loud with the band that plays and the trivia contests, so not sure I'd really recommend it for a romantic meal. But it is fun! We've always had very fast service and we love the food! We don't drink, but there is a fully stocked bar inside, so they should be able to deliver anything you want. The decor is beautiful Mexican, trendy and hip. Overall, trust me, go and you will enjoy!!

My wife is Mexican and a gourmet cook. We're from southern California. Aftter getting completely turned off by Rosie's and Phil Sandoval's, and disappointed by a couple of "hole in the wall" places (which should be good, right?), we were introduced to Las Trojas. The decor is very nice, and the Saturday night musician was versatile and very entertaining. They couldn't persuade me to try their signature drink - the Margarona. Sorry, beer and margarita are best enjoyed separately. The fajitas especial is delicious. After two visits, I have to rank Las Trojas as the best Mexican restaurant in the area, the only one I would recommend. This is where we go for Mexican food in Huntsville.

I've been going here ever since they first opened, at least been there 20 times. The decor & atmosphere is nicer than a lot of Mexican restaurants and the service is usually fast & accurate. I can only remember one time that I wanted to complain (food was lukewarm when brought out on a busy night). 99% of the time though, everything is as it should be which I think speaks volumes for a restaurant. The margaritas are good/strong & you get your money's worth. We have gotten food to go a few times and always super pleased with it as well. My favorite is the beef chimichanga, but the fajitas are also spectacular! I like the cheese w/spinach appetizer. We never go to Rosie's or Phil Sandoval's anymore. Trojas gives us no reason to eat Mexican food anywhere else!

Las Trojas has a great atmosphere mixed with typical American Mexican fare. They have live music several nights a week and the interior of the restaurant is very festive. The food is slightly better than what you expect from Mexican places in the South, but I would put it a step or two below Rosie's and Phil Sandoval's. They have a wide variety of adult beverages; draft beers come in several options and the largest comes in a very large elephant foot mug. Definitely a good option if you live north of town near 53.

First time, and on Cinco de Mayo no less. That being said, our service (expectantly slower than normal) was nothing short of great. The restaurant was filled to capacity with a significant line outdoors. Our drinks and food arrived promptly, and accurately, after ordering and the waiter managed to stay upbeat despite the chaos. The food (I ordered the chicken chimichanga dinner and tried a friend's chicken quesadilla) was good. Nothing was really outstanding but nothing was less than good either. I will say, in my personal opinion, that the guacamole actually tasted fresh and was quite good. I always feel like a Mexican restaurant's chips and salsa gives a good indication of how the rest of the meal will go. The salsa was not too watery, held onto the chip nicely, and had just enough heat.

Mmmmm . To say the least, not that great. I have gone here on different occasions and haven't been impressed. Ppl go here for the drinks but the food is terrible. I am not a big drinker so this place does nothing for me. Save your time and money and go to Phil's or Rosie's.

Amazing. Best drink menu, and true Mexican cuisine. The fiesta quesadillas are great!

Though somewhat overpriced, the food is excellent and well-prepared. Atmosphere is great and service is friendly. A welcome addition to the Mexican restaurants in Huntsville.

The food is about 10% to 15% over priced compared to other mex restaurants. A small draft Dos XXs was $3.45 on sale. The ground beef was a powder texture. The rice was dry and had no flavor. The beans taste as if from a can. Not up to par with El Coyote or Rosies. I will try again because of the great atmosphere. The food must improve or it will be the last trip.

Found a new mexican place in huntsville, usually go to rosie's like everyone else but this place was yummy too! I still like rose's too. I'm from LA, so to me the selection is all the same, just hit or miss with certain dishes. Queso was good (5 stars) Margaritas were ok- needed more tequila and less sugar (3 stars) Chicken and steak fajitas (4 stars)- pretty solid! Sopapillas dessert, I mean it wasn't really, crispy with sugar and ice cream, good enough for me! (4 stars) My cousins tacos were bomb! That was my favorite here, so if I'm ever back in bama I'll take note of that ;) All of my other cousins got fajitas as well! No surprise there.

I think I may have finally found yet another good place for Mexican since I am not like everyone else and go to "Rosie's" I was actually dragged here by my uncle and his girlfriend and I was not thinking this place would be good..I was wrong. I was not all that hungry so at first I ordered my Queso Dip like I do at every Mexican place I go to, I will say it was a bit salty but it was good. After snacking on chips and dip I finally gave in and ordered some real food, I ordered the Grilled Chicken Quesadilla with the goodies that come with it. First off the quesadilla was HUGE and was full of some very tasty grilled chicken loaded with cheese. By the time I was halfway done with the quesadilla, I had remembered I had refried beans that had not been touched yet. Well lets just say I had to get a box to go. Another thing about this place I really did enjoy was the fact it was a Saturday Night. They had live music by a older fella in whom I forgot his name now but he played really good.

I have ate here before and it was a lot better than this time, I found the love singer to not be able to carry a note in his pocket, very ugh unpleasant. The tea was stronger than I care for but tasty, I ordered the fiesta plate ( rice, cheese dip, shrimp, steak, chicken, onions, broccoli) was good they went way overboard on the onions like maybe they was running out of meat, and the meat was fatty and dry ( not a good combination). I have them a 4 star because I know they can do better and they are extremely busy tonight inside and with takeout orders.

We stumbled upon this place by complete accident. We recently moved near by, and driving past, I saw that the parking lot for the strip mall it's in was pretty full. Not knowing anything about this place, we went in and were pleasantly delighted by all that it had to offer. Food was off the hook good - service was exceptional - and just as we're enjoying our dinner, live entertainment started and we were in heaven! We've been back several times since then - at least weekly - and last Wednesday was thrilled to find out that they have Questionary played here... 7-9 (or so ) It's very much like Family Feud - in that they ask a question and you get points based on if your answer was used, what place (1 to 5) it was in... Really fun game to play - we'll DEFINITELY be back - even more on Wednesdays!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
