Had the small pork plate for lunch today. Compared to other BBQ places in town I've been to, I thought $8.49 was a bit pricey. I went through the drive through, and the weight of the bag got me a little excited; it felt like a lot of food, so I suddently stopped worrying about the price and figured an awesome lunch was minutes away from my mouth! I opened the styrofoam bag and must've looked like an excited kid on Christmas morning, opening a present, hoping for a cool toy and getting footie pajamas with bunny ears. The pulled pork looked bad. I second what another reviewer wrote: It tasted like it was boiled and had no flavor. It also was very fatty, and I found myself having to pick the fat out of it with my fingers and separate the lean meat, which made a tiny portion even tinier. And really... is that not why we go to a BBQ place, for good meat? With meat like I got, I didn't care of the sides were out of this world, I knew I wasn't going back. As for said sides, the baked beans, oh momma! Yes, they were deliciously flavorful with chunks of bacon (ok, so next time I'll go back JUST for the beans!). The slaw was good - the standard chopped cabage in vinegar. The potato salad was flavorless and had the smooth consistency of mashed potatoes. Old toothless folks would like it! The hush puppies were room temp (not warm) and dry and tasteless. The baked beans raised my rating from 1 star to 2.

For the money and the history a great place for lunch. Kind and courteous wait staff. Get the potato salad with your pulled pork sandwich.

Comparable to old-school Atlanta bbq joints, which I am a fan of, being from Atlanta. I've tried NC, SC, TN, and now AL bbq and I am a fan of this place. My hubby is a chef who comes from a bbq background, so we tend to over-scrutinize bbq. The pulled pork sandwich w/ cole slaw on top hit a home run for me though as one of the best. Adding slaw to the sandwich is not norm in ATL, but I now add it to my favs at home because of this place. The decor is old-fashioned, but homey and the service is OK. The sauce is great - I recommend using a lot of it. This place also has that old-school "crunchy ice" for their awesome tea, which I _love_! If you have not tried this place and you live in the area, you are missing out! NOTE: They are closed on Sat & Sun.

I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was good. It was lacking in meat quantity, but it was delicious. I asked for one rib (I like to try the ribs at bbq restaurants) rather than making me pay for one they just gave it to me. It was very good. Very tender and the meat fell off of the bone. Delicious. The staff was very courteous and kind.

I'm giving this 2 stars. I eat a lot of BBQ all over the country. I travel for work so I can eat at many BBQ places. The Slaw is terrible, potato salad is nasty, baked beans were ok. Nothing better than Bush's though. I 100% think Dickies BBQ is better than here. The beef is dry. The chicken is pretty good though. Customer service is terrible. The lady that took my order acted like she hated her job and life. The atmosphere isn't good in other words. If I were you keep on driving, I hear Burger King has a pulled pork sandwich now!

Just fair BBQ for a place that has been around forever and actually smokes their food on location unlike a lot of other BBQ joint around North Alabama these days. Ordered a large pork sandwich and small potato salad and the total was $7.90, that's pricey in my opinion, the sandwich though on a large bun was lacking in the amount of meat, see my picture. The potato salad was very bland and I've had better grocery store potato salad.

Excellent BBQ place, delicious pork ribs, I totally recommend it, when you are visiting Huntsville.

I ate here when I was on a business trip to Huntsville earlier this week. I have never been more disappointed in a BBQ joint in my life. What a mess this place is. First off, it is NOT in a nice area at all. The food is bland and not tasty. The pork had no smoke flavor at all. It tasted like it had been boiled. Next, who in their right mind puts coleslaw on a bbq pork sandwich? Why is this the norm? If I wanted coleslaw on my sandwich I'd ask for it! That was disgusting. I've lived in the true home of BBQ (KC) and have had the pleasure of eating at many great bbq places in my life. I'd rate this one as one if if not THE worst. Stay as far away as you can from this restaurant.

Extremely overpriced. The only quality item is the meat itself. Everything else is flavorless. The Brunswick stew is vegetable soup with meat thrown in which the lady at the cash register admitted as she mocked my mother who was complaining. My mother had eaten here in her childhood and had the Brunswick growing up. She said she suspected a change in the recipe, and the lady insulted her directly by saying her taste buds must've changed. I do not recommend this place.

If you want Gibson's barbecue in the Tennessee Valley, take the time required to go to Decatur to Big Bob Gibson's. David Gibson's potato was delicious by itself, but here's the reason we won't go back: the staff. We refer to this place as "Racist Gibson's" based solely off the dirty looks we got from the staff. Paying for tartar sauce for the hushpuppies? That was the straw that broke the racist camel's back. If you want David Gibson's, I have to recommend their drive-through service.

The ribs had a good flavor but not a lot of meat. It was also a little dry and needed the sauce that came with it. Fortunately it was good sauce. You know how "fall-off-the-bone tender" ribs don't get stuck in your teeth? Well these ribs did so they left something to be desired. My favorite ribs in Huntsville are still from Chuck Wagon, but I will say the price is definitely right at Gibsons. Half a pound of ribs without sides was just $5.89!

This little BBQ place right outside of Redstone Arsenal has character. It is homey and the ordering and delivery of the food is efficient and quick. The hush puppies were cooked correctly but they lacked some flavor. I had the pulled pork platter and the pork was a little too dry for my tastes. You have to use copious amounts of sauce in order for it to be consumed without gnashing your teeth. Overall, it was an OK restaurant. It just might not be the best in Huntsville.

I had the pulled pork plate with hush puppies, okra, and slaw. The pork was alright, not great. The sides were pretty well below average. They reminded me of what you might get in a cafeteria-style restaurant. I wouldn't go back. I was in Huntsville on a business trip and tried several local restaurants.
