Conestoga Steak House Menu

The quality of their filet is far superior to that of any of the chain steak houses in the local area. Tender, richly flavored and perfectly cooked. Very limited sides (basic salad, baked potato, delicious fries, or broccoli, and yummy little dinner rolls)...but it doesn't detract from enjoying the main course in any way. Delicious top quality beef. Ask for real butter instead of the "whatever" that's in the dish on the table, and a small cup of au jus with your steak.

If you want an amazing dining experience and atmosphere, then don't eat here. These are great steaks, and would easily be $45+ at a "fine dining" joint. Rolls are second to none. Simple but fresh salad. Really don't see how anyone could give less than four stars unless they prefer Applebee's bc they have commercials and bar drinks with umbrellas.

A small, rediculously outdated restaurant that's a Dothan favorite for it's steaks. Unfortunately, it's reputation was earned long before the modern era and it hasn't adapted to keep up to date with rivals. The steaks are good but certainly aren't the best. While dining, there's a complete lack of privacy; since the dining areas are closterphobicly tiny. As a result, you MUST watch your words carefully since the other diners seem to blatantly listen to everything you say! Either order out or go to Longhorn.

First of all the steak was very good. The waitress was irritated that I asked what kind of beer they had. She claimed nobody really ordered beer at a steak restaurant. The salad was thoughtless and plain and she also scoffed that I asked for balsamic dressing. Overall service was poor for our table and it's the first time in a long time I didn't tip 20%.

Small unassuming place. Limited menu, but in this case it's a good thing. They have basically steaks and burgers. I had one of the best Filet Mignons EVER here. It cut like warm butter and tasted awesome. Good service.

Small, dark, outdated, crowded, limited parking, limited menu...all of the above are true so why do we keep going back? Oh yeah, they probably have the best steaks in Dothan.

What's all the rave. I have eaten here for over 25 years and still can't figure out what all the fuss is about. This place is average at best.

This restaurant has been a local favorite for years. I first tried this steak house 10 years ago, it had great steaks back then and when I dined there yesterday the steaks were just as tasty. Even though times have changed in the past 10 years unfortunately this restaurant has not. The restaurant is small, dark, cramped, and the decor is very out dated. The service and steaks are great but the side dishes are plain and very boring. If you just want a fat juicy steak this is your place.

This was my first time here and I really liked it. The steak was cooked exactly to order and their secret marinade really gave it great flavor; no need to add any type of steak sauce. We waited about 20-25 min to be seated, which I thought wasn't bad considering how busy they were. The service was awesome as well. Our server quickly took our drink/food order and it was out in about 15 min. Most people comment about the atmosphere not being like most chain restaurants and they were right. If you're looking for that, then this isn't the place, however you would be missing out not giving this a go!

Don't let the unassuming exterior or the 50's cafeteria interior fool you! Folks don't come here for frills. They come here for steaks, excellently prepared. It is important to know that these steaks are heavily seasoned, so if you are looking for simply grilled meat, this isn't the place for you! Filets are fork-tender and delicious, and the service is quick and friendly.

Don't go here unless you want beef. My co-worker & I both had the chopped steak & while they'll only cook it medium well or higher - it was still really juicy & tasty. Their special steak sauce is really good & flavorful. Also, they have one of the best yeast rolls I've ever had. Will definitely go back if in the Dothan area.

Steaks were average, at best. Salad was small, lacking croutons, and not crisp. The steak fries were soggy. The grilled cheese was one slice of cheese between two pieces of barely toasted bread. The rolls had a strange flavor to them that I did not care for. Will not be back. You'd think with like 10 things only on the menu they'd do a really great job, but I guess not.

If you are from out of town, you kind of have to know what you're getting yourself into before you go to this place. This is not Longhorn, this isn't Outback, this is real Dothan, Alabama. Real people, plastic tablecloths, baskets of crackers, bowl of butter and country crock, and a waitress who is very likely to call you "Hun". Do not judge a book by its cover because this is one of the best steaks I've ever had. I don't know how they store their wine but it is served near to outdoor temperature, so, if it's hot out, get yourself a cold beer. Menu is extremely limited-- just order your steak and move along. Don't be looking for a wide selection of vegetables as sides either; the baked sweet potato is southern legit. The "homemade cheesecake" is homemade in that it is made carefully following the recipe on the Jell-O package. Service is impeccable. I only wish I got a bigger steak.

I only gave it 4 stars for the decor and lack of a full bar. If you are looking for ambience this is not the place; 50s wood paneling, tables and booths. If you are looking for a perfectly prepared steak at a reasonable price...this is THE place! I had the t-bone and it was perfect. I would definitely return the next time that I am in town.

Best steak in Dothan. They received best steak in alabama in 2014! The hamburger steak is actually my fav. Ask for the secret sauce on the side!! Homemade ranch, delicious rolls, hand cut fries. You won't be disappointed.

Steaks were very good! Very casual dining... Restaurant was busy until about 830. They have a very simple menu which allows them to do it great. The tables are very close together, makes conversations a little hard to hear.

By far the best steak I've eaten. Came back in the area after 10 years and still the same quality of service and food. Not a fancy place but who cares.

Sold 4 stars, I had the tbone and it was great! It came with 2 sides, I chose the baked potato and side salad. The steak was cooked perfect and was very good and we'll seasoned. Potato was good, salad was small and had very little lettuce. The rolls are great! The biggest downside of this restaurant is the atmosphere, you would think with the amount of money this place brings in, they could do something with the decor.. They have windows that are boarded up, I didn't understand it. It's very dingy and outdated, could use new life brought to it. The good was fantastic and I would have no problem giving them 5 stars if it was updated. We had the cheesecake, it was awful. Do not recommend. Very small beer list.

I had the ribeye and ordered medium just in case they cook it medium very slightly well. Came out medium slightly well like I like it. Seasoning good, meat very tender and juicy, overall price was good. Atmosphere was mediocre, but I came for a good steak, and got it;-) Parking sucked; 30 minute wait, but worth it. They moved people in and out quickly. Would I go back? Definitely!

This is a great place to eat. I have been eating here for 20 years. Try the filet. The food is great and the service is always fast and friendly. You can't beat the prices.

Old timey. Stodgy. Cinder-block. Summer camp flatware and tableware. Think iceberg with one sliced disc of radish, and thousand island. Just like 1974. No joke. And thats the secret. It's black Angus. If you're from TX, or Oklahoma, you'll get it. If you want modern art, go away. Far away. It has prints of Remington's on the wall. Old Deep South has a majority of teetotaling baptists, hence the abysmal wine list. I doubt you look down your noses at a Moroccan place without your favorite IPA!

This is a great little steak place! The menu is small but done right. I had the 5oz filet with broccoli and their homemade secret recipe steak sauce/marinade made the meal. The service was fast and friendly especially for a Saturday night.

Overall...better than a chain steak place but not up to par for foodies. Arrived at 4:30pm on a Saturday and was surprised to see a parking lot full of cars. Entered to find a waiting list for tables. Although very busy I was seated within 15min and promptly greeted by my waitress who was very friendly. I was pleased that she immediate asked for my drink order and provided me with a menu. The menu, as others have noted, is limited to steaks and a couple of near steak options. Vegetarians don't bother going here. NO options. The wine list ... well isn't a list. You get your choice of one offering of each of the major styles of wine which is a real bummer because a good wine can really help a just "ok" cut of meat. I ordered the larger Ribeye with baked potato and salad. My waitress brought the salad was out very quickly and with a smile. The salad consisted of iceberg lettace with a slice (yes slice) of tomato on top. No croutons. No anything. The salad dressing was a bit much and either runny or they didn't drain the lettuce well. The result is the same. When the steak arrived I thought back at some of the other comments posted on the site. There was a lot of "juice" but it wasn't sitting in grease as stated in other postings. It was cooked correctly (medium rare) and the baked potato was cooked just right. I liked the fact that the butter was already on the table so I wasn't fighting with a frozen lump of butter. Good job! On the downside, the pepper was more pepper dust and the salt was about as far from sea salt as one could get. Ok, so now on to the really important thing...the steak. Ok. That's it. Ok. Tasted like a grocery store quality piece of meat cooked excellently. Better than a chain restaurant steak but....far below a really quality cut of meat. I'd prefer they offer a higher end piece of steak with a higher price tag. Good. but not great.

I've eaten here countless times during my life, and it never disappoints! The steak is my favorite out of any steak I've ever had in a restaurant. I always get the ribeye with their secret recipe steak marinade/juice (I'm not sure what it's actually called), and ask for a cup of the marinade/juice on the side to dip the fries and fresh yeast rolls in. I'll admit the atmosphere is a little quaint, but the food is mouth-watering. It's not a bad atmosphere at all, nothing is dirty or ugly, it's just simply decorated and designed. Every table has a single candle, the walls are tan, and seating is standard tables and booths. The price is extremely good and you get a lot for your money. The wait staff is always very quick and thorough. I've never had to send a meal back for a mistake like I have at other restaurants. If given the option of any restaurant for dinner, I'll pick Conestoga hands-down every time!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place after getting a recommendation to eat here. It doesn't look like much on the outside and the inside decor is sorta bland, but the food is really good. The free bread is baked fresh and all the steaks come with salad and a side of your choice. The salad did come with too much dressing on it so I recommend getting it on the side. The steak tasted fantastic and I didn't feel the need to put any steak sauce. It was slightly over cooked since I ordered a medium but the texture wasn't tough. I wouldn't mind eating here again.

On the opinion of a friend visited this establishment on New Years Eve Day! Lo and behold they had on special a 20 oz. TBone. After being seated cafeteria style with four other family members we all chose beef with three TBones and my wife Filet mignon and my daughter the New York strip. The salads were typical and tasty nothing extraordinary. Then came all at once our slabs of beef with sides. Surprising to discover that the cuts of beef were tender and cooked just as ordered. My particular steak was actually a better cut than when I paid twice as much in Chicago for the steak ala carte! Only a small portion of fat and gristle, plenty of flavor with a smoky essence from grilling over real wood? The yeast rolls were hot and fresh. My broccoli was tender but not overcooked. No room for dessert but maybe another visit? Overall very tasty food and pleasant service for a great price. Thanks for a great dinner!

If you feel like steak, this is the place. This is the best steak in the area, people travel here from Eufala, Enterprise, Troy, and Anniston. The location is along US 231 just north of dothan on the west side of the street across from the mall. The building is old, and has a couple expansions. The kitchen is simple, you get a delicious mouthwatering steak, an iceberg lettuce salad, and potato (baked, or fries). If you want to be adventurous you can ask for cheese fries, and have two kraft singles melted on your fries. The steaks are cooked to your desire, and are delicious. I have never been disappointed by the steaks. They serve beer, a very select few. The staff gets your drink order, takes your food order, and keeps your glasses full, then ask for dessert. This place is efficiency incarnate, nothing is wasted, and everything is about the food.

I was visiting my boyfriend at Ft. Rucker for the weekend last weekend and Saturday night date night rolled around. In Atlanta, we can usually be found having a pricey fabulous meal, so we ventured out to find something fun. We feel the same way about chains- even the worst independent place is better than a crappy, mediocre chain where almost everything is cooked from frozen. We decided to stop and check out the menu of the Conestoga, but someone had told Zac that it was "pricey" - when we approached, we were taken in by the smell - delicious steaks wafted out. The atmosphere is ridiculous- it looks like a church basement except replace the red gingham with brown gingham. We were completely cracking up at the menu because there really is only steak. No appetizers. No extras. We might have been the first people to order a bottle of wine here in years - a $15 bottle of Glen Ellen did the trick with old-timey wine glasses. Service was top. Our steaks (a small ribeye for me and a big one for him), were overcooked- more to medium/well than medium/rare but honestly, the people watching and simplicity of the place were pretty fun. The rolls are amazing- yeasty, delicious, hot. We were in and out for $60 with dessert and a bottle of wine. Cheapest meal we've had in a while. I'll never regret choosing this over Longhorn - good food, fun people watching, unique spot.

I just moved here for work and the choice selection of restaurants here are pretty poor. I came here based upon the suggestion of locals and found it to be very good. Indeed the atmosphere is not very ideal; it's a dimly lit, dark with outdated fixtures. The menu consists of two pages and their main selection is of course, steaks. I find their steaks to be cooked exactly as I have ordered. I always get medium rare, and it's never over or undercooked. The sides could definitely use some updating, but their main focus is steaks. Not bad if you ask me.

Best part of the dinner was the roll. The worst not being able to move from the toilet after eating here. Literally sat down and waitress asked if i was ready to order. Um i have never ate here, nor looked at the menu just placed before me. Steak was nasty, came out raw after I asked for medium. Asked if it could go back on the grill, came back out medium rare. Tender but tasted so gross. For $50 I could have went somewhere else, with better food, better service and not get food poisoning. I will absolutely never go back nor recommend this place anyone.

Please don't go here. It seems to be a place that locals love based on the crowds on a Friday night but nothing was good here besides our server. They only sell steak so you would think they would be unbelievable - maybe I just set my expectations too high...or maybe it was just bad. Imagine this: A totally fatty and nasty steak, soaked in a pile of grease on a dirty plate - served in a crowded, dark, undecorated room and you pretty much get the gist.

Went here on 11-13-12 after the debacle at Blue Plate on Hwy84, and being Dothan is obsessed with chains and hard to find a decent LOCAL restaurant, much less one that serves good QUALITY food I headed here with the lowest of LOW expectations. The service was great, as I was the second person in after their 4pm opening. Got the New York 10oz strip with sweet potato. The steak was very full of excellent flavor and was medium just like it should have been. Only slight negative, had a little more fat/grizzle than I hoped for (by the time I was done, Id say 30% of the remainder was all grizzle). The surprise was the sweet potato. It was totally and perfectly cooked from the center to the outside. Not one single bite of hard potato. When I was done with it, all that was left was the potato skin. In all my years, not ONCE have I had a potato or sweet potato that was 100% edible...very impressed. And the potato was fresh and full of sweet overtones as a sweet potato should be. Overall, gotta say I was impressed with the place, and considering the bad mood I was in from experiencing the joke known as Blue Plate, Conestoga really restored my faith that you can actually find some decent place to eat (even if it is only one) in Dothan. Will return next time Im in town.
