While I was staying in Greenville, my hotel had several restaurant takeout menus on hand including menus for Min Hibachi, which I decided to give a try after seeing some good lunch and dinner combination specials at good prices. Upon arriving at Min Hibachi located at Pelham Place plaza in Greer at around 11AM, I noticed they also offer an all you can eat Chinese buffet, which was priced at $5.75 plus tax, including soft drink (Coke fountain drinks). The most expensive lunch special is $5.25 and the buffet is 50 cents more. I decided to go for the buffet and prepaid at the counter ($6.21 with tax) and sat myself in the adjacent dining room where the buffet stations were set up. Since I arrived here very early, the 40+ item Chinese buffet was only partially stocked as the staff was still getting things ready. I decided to hang out in the dining room, enjoy some Diet Coke, and wait for the staff to fully stock the lunch buffet. Meanwhile, the flatscreen TV in the dining room had Disney Channel on and a new episode of "Jessie" was just starting. The owner started to change the channel and looked at me and asked what I wanted to watch on the TV. I could've easily said ESPN, but I immediately requested him to change the channel back to Disney Channel so I could watch "Jessie" since deep down inside I'm a "closet fan" of the show-"Hey Jessie! Hey Jessie! It feels like a party everyday..." I had a unique opportunity to meet & greet the star of "Jessie" (Debby Ryan) last year in Boston making me an older "Deboralien" (chuckle). I can be a kid once in a while since I don't have kids to watch the show with. Anyways, the buffet was fully stocked by 11:20AM and I began to help myself to the food. The food on the buffet was fresh of course, but the food was not very hot including the recently stocked items. Some of the items on the buffet included veg lo mein, veg fried rice, chow mei fun noodles (very good!), egg rolls, crab rangoons, chicken fingers (chewy), hibachi chicken, seafood delight, pepper steak, Chinese donuts, soups (egg drop and hot & sour), salad, desserts (jello, fruit, cakes, cookies), and more. For the most part, the food on the buffet (again could be hotter) was pretty decent and a great value for the money. The chow mei fun noodles were very good, but the hot & sour soup was not that great (the very spicy broth was thin and lacked flavor). Enjoying an AYCE Chinese buffet and watching Disney programming on the flatscreen at the same time, that made my day!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
