The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The service was very quick and super friendly. There isn't much more to ask for than that from a restaurant. I was very satisfied and will go back any time.

I have eaten here many times and the food has always been good..up until today. As I was sitting eating a ROACH fell from the ceiling onto my head and then proceeded to crawl down my arm. I immediately jumped up and called the manager who told me he had seen roaches earlier in the day. I am disgusted and will NEVER patronize this restaurant again.

If possible they wouldn't get a star. This is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had! We were seated and greeted about 5 mins later, no problem we went through almost a whole basket of chips until our drinks finally arrived 15 mins later...2 waters. Our meals two appetizer nachos, after an HOUR wait they came out completely wrong, I don't know if they even had the right table. 10 minutes later we tell them we've had enough we are leaving. I ask to speak to the owner before we leave and the girl at the register informs me her mom never comes in at any one particular time. I ask for the manager and he tells me basically he's sorry what can he say they got busy and his staff couldn't handle it. He then tells me he knew we had waited but it was what it was. We will never step foot in their restaurant again, b/c they made it clear they weren't concerned about our over an hour wait with no food.

Typical Mexican fare. Good food, and fast service. I've been here several times and it's always good

I hate to even give this place a star. Terrible service since new management took over in the past year. My wife and I used to love their ceviche de pascado... Until we got severely sick from it (coming out both ends). So we went there today, 7 months later, since some friends invited us. Of course we tried something else. The food was Mexican mush. Disgusting. To call that pile of blah a chili rellano should be illegal. But what makes me write this review is the terrible service. Completely rude! I would highly recommend ANYWHERE else. Taco Bell isn't far down the road.

Read a review on yelp about El mariachi and thought I would try it out. GREAT decision. Upon being seated chips and salsa came. The tortilla chips were crisp and fresh, not stale or burned as experienced at other restaurants. The server came and took the order for the group and within 8-10 minutes our food was out, served hot and amazing. I order the Burrito Azteca (chicken) with a little bit of extra Pico every time and it is still amazing. The service is great and quick. On a one hour lunch break slow service can really hurt your impression of a restaurant. I have never been let down with El Mariachi.

This place rules. Awesome tortilla chips, super good salsas. Happy hour specials all day Mon-Thurs. Pretty inexpensive food with big portions. HUGE menu. Not to say they don't keep it simple, they just know their Mexican cuisine. Grill in the back and bar in the front, too. Best Margaritas in the upstate. Waitstaff is usually ok. I've noticed the dudes tend to be awesome while the chicks not so much. But the food is what matters and it is amazing. I go here maybe once ever month or two and have been for the past five years. ALSO live music on fridays and saturdays! Sure, it's a guy on a Casio, but he's got a great voice and my mom sings to almost every song he sings.

Mediocre. Really nothing great about this place. Had somewhat of a tomato based salsa. Meh, I'd never think of this place again as an option to go out.

We have been there 3 times First 2 times was great . Had trace mariachi. every time. 1st time was the best. We were so sad we didn't find this place sooner. 2 time the portion was much less but the flavor was ok. Last night was so disgusting we didn't even want to eat it. We filled up on chips The food did not come out sizzling, it was room temperature , I couldn't even cut the meat with a steak knife and you could see more of the bottom of the plate then you could food. . we always take leftover home, not this time we left all our food on the table. Went to work the next day talking about it and many people said they found everything going down hill. What a shame.

Honestly the service is terrible, along with the food. I'd rather eat at Taco Bell than this restaurant.

The Food: the food at El Mariachi is not too far up the chain from Taco Bell. Whether it's a taco, tamale, or burrito, it's filled with bland ground beef and smothered in cheese. Like so many Mexican restaurants in the upstate--Corona's, Monterrey, Rancho Grande, El Molcajete--yes I"m talking about you--this place serves up dishes for a mostly white clientele that wouldn't know a burrito if it came up and bit them on the ass. The corn chips are deep fried in oil--they are oily and flavorless, The salsas are as bland as an old Pat Boone song. One of them cannot be anything more than canned tomato sauce with some black pepper added to it. Mexican cuisine is capable of so many different flavors with the various peppers, fresh cilantro, lime juice, cumin, fresh masa harina, or even just a judicious use of salt--but you won't see any of that here. Why is the food here so lifeless, greasy, and flavorless? If you want to enliven the dish you've ordered, you can order pico de gallo and chopped cilantro on the side, or bring with you your own bottle of Tapatío, La Victoria or El Pato. This will help you survive the meal. The Service: They have some very dynamic servers here who are energetic, eager to please, and like to joke with the customers. This is the best thing about this restaurant. They also have a live singer on Fridays who is actually pretty good. Cleanliness: seems clean. Location: off Wade Hampton next to Big Lots. Pretty convenient, actually.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
