Great place to listen to music and dance with your friends. Heard the band "Brass Attack" there last night and they were amazing. this charming pub also has a pool table that only costs a quarter to play. This is the best of Fun, Friends and Laughter that makes this place so special. #rhodeisland #pub #datenight

We came in here for lunch with 2 adults and 2 kids. It was a hot day and it was nice to come into a cool dark bar. I was impressed that although this is clearly a local watering hole with music acts at night it was very clean during the day and did not smell like stale beer and have sticky floors as so many bars that serve lunch do. We were seated by our waitress who was sweet and smiling throughout. She was very attentive and gave good service. Two reasons for only a three star rating are 1) the quality of the food was poor. While the menu selections looked tempting, my Reuben was grilled to the brink of being burned. Not enough to send back, but almost. Bread was so hard it literAlly was crunchy. Also I had asked if there was sauerkraut on it and told yes, but only found a few strands. Not enough to taste. Worst of all was the amount of salt on everything we ordered. VERY salty food. 2) my daughter orders the children's chicken tenders and we are told it does not come with fries. Okay, like every children's chicken tender meal in the country comes with fries. It comes with chicken tenders only. Then I said well can I order a side of fries for her? I didn't think I should have to do that but I was willing to. But no, I would have had to order a large bowl of fries enough for the whole table when only a 4 year old wanted a couple fries. This appeared to be the rule of the house, not the waitress being difficult. She was apologetic. So, in a nutshell, good on service, friendliness and cleanliness. Pretty bad on food and menu "rules".

Went here with my parents after a day sailing. Had a wonderful time! First of all, the bar has a local feel to it, very cozy. The service was excellent. The bartender let us taste the beers, before we ordered. The chowder was yummy, just enough clams and potatoes, not watery at all. I ordered the special, a Mushroom Swiss Burger. Well cooked, so many mushrooms and just enough cheese. Oh and they also make their own Bloody Mary mix, try it, it's delicious.

What a great surprise! We had a free night and were down in South County and hungry, we usually go to a different place in Jamestown, but wanted to try something new. What a fantastic surprise to find an awesome restaurant/bar with a live band on a Sunday afternoon! The beer selection was decent, the wait staff great and the food delicious. Hubs had a burger and fries. Tasty and cooked just right. I had the classic fish and chips - yum! Not too much batter and the fries were fantastic! We both had the New England clam chowder and thought it was great. We plan to return next time we're down in the area. If you are looking for a bar, with better than bar food, a fun crowd and great entertainment - stop on by and give Narragansett Cafe a try!

We've been here about 10 times and keep coming back. The clam chowder is delicious, the bloody marys are perfect and the music is always great!

The food is excellent ,the prices are low.The restrooms were spotless. The crowd is a little rough here with a lot of bikers but everyone was very friendly and easy going. Not recommend for the faint of heart.

Great venue, excellent music, okay food , but understaffed and poor service. The food took too long (30-40 minutes for breakfast?) had missing items or wrong all together. About 50% of the people at our table got the wrong food; one guy had to get 3 omelettes before it was what he ordered. I ordered the Texas French toast with "Vermont Maple Syrup" and bacon; regular-sized bread, sausage instead of bacon, and never any maple syrup. They did not have enough wait staff, and when our waitress was visibly crying you could not say anything without upsetting her. When I told her calmly I did not get the bacon I ordered she told me I was being difficult. Getting the drink you wanted became so impossible that we started to go up and order from the bar. The manager did not seem to care, probably because they make most of their revenue from the drinks. We felt so bizarrely uncomfortable with how upset our waitress was we decided to leave instead of enjoying more of the music and having a few more drinks. My suggestion is not to come here for food but just to enjoy the music, dancing, and have a few drinks.

Total dive bar filled with the same people I saw hanging around outside when I'd pass by as a kid. They've done a lot of renovations since it was damaged by a fire a little while back. It's neat and clean, has always been busy the evenings I've been in, service is quick, live music is entertaining, and I've heard the food - though nothing special - is pretty good. All in all, this is where I'd rather go for a drink. It isn't snobby, which so many Jamestown restaurant/bars unfortunately are.

Strange Days! Clientele across the board! drunks to suits! Did not think kids should be allowed - there were 4 when I was there around 4:00 on a Saturday. I can see this place being a fun weekend friends destination. Nice restaurants nearby, so dine, stop by for a drink and I'm told by friends that live in Jamestown the bands are pretty good. I will definitely try this place again!

Took a drive and found this cafe. The crab cake was tasty but I have never seen it not come with some sort of sauce. The burger was a little on the dry side when ordered medium rare. French Fries were nice and crunchy. Waitress at bar never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else.

I love this hometown bar. The food is good, the music is outstanding and there's never a cover. Other local bars should take a look here when their place is empty with a $5 + cover and mediocre band. The crowd is a little older with an interesting mix of locals and tourists that make sure the dance floor is full... There's no wondering what to do once the band starts, tonite it was Neil Vittulo and The Vipers.... Let's party!

This place is a small but happy place to go when a band is playing. Expect the local scene. Saw The Ravers there last time. They have many of the same bands there over and over again which isn't bad if you like bluesy music and the occasional Reggae band. The small intimate stage is less than a meter above the floor. The bar is in the center of the building. They have a what looks like a shuffleboard on a bowling alley with legs. Really, I've asked what the game was called and the bartender told me but for the life of me I can't remember. It is in use too. The place has a digital Jukebox, nice bathrooms and is pretty much all wood. Beautiful and simple. They have specials, go to: tonightinri.com/narragan… to find out what they are. They are good with updating their website narragansettcafe.com which has a lineup of their bands for at least a month if not more. The owners are around in the afternoons for sure, keeping the place stocked. They're pleasant and say "Hi," and ask how your meal is at lunch time. I find lunch usually pleasant there. It's quiet, airconditioned in the summer, heated in the winter (I sit near the wood stove which is clean and cheerful.) The decorations are nautical in nature but not overdone. The food is surprisingly good but make sure they have things like avocados or guacamole because in the winter lunch is not big business. Their turkey wrap used to have avocado and bacon in it which is like the Turbacado the Whale's Tale in Narragansett used to serve. Delicious but I don't see it on their website. The website has a shorter menu than I was used to seeing in the tavern. For a short time they were accepting Restaurant.com certificates but no more. Their specials are usually special. Their occasional Italian dishes are tasty with a basic but slightly chunky marinara. Sometimes they have an inspired lunch special: a salad, a sandwich, burger or entree type dish. It's worth it to go for the food. The pasta salad is not my favorite, chewy pasta, bland dressing, with some chopped vegetables added in at times but their coleslaw is pretty good. Good fries, a good pickle slice they also offer potato chips with sandwiches. They have 3 screens, 1 huge flat screen on the wall, one medium size above the kitchen and one about 19 inches on the opposite wall from the flatscreen. They are usually on unless a band is playing. There is a good amount of seating for lunch a few big tables many 4 seaters. Want a fun, safely crazy, friendly night with a good crowd and good music? This place is for you. Want a mellow place for lunch that is kind of dark but friendly and has good food? This is also the place for you. I recommend it. The kids can come here for lunch but I don't recommend it for weekend dinners for your young families.

There are several really good restaurants in Jamestown, but if you're looking for some live music and fun, this is the spot for you. The food is pretty good too. I like to drop in for a beer at the end of the work day on Friday, and hang with the locals. A mid-week dinner is also at the Ganny is also often on my schedule. If you're looking for local, this is the place. Reasonably priced, friendly staff. You can't go wrong.

I met a few friends here for drinks and lunch last week for my first visit. I'm not sure how I've never been, since they've been around for close to 30 years, and feature live music several nights a week. The day crowd seemed to be mostly locals and regulars. The service was friendly, but the kitchen seemed just a bit slow for a somewhat thinly populated bar. The menu was typical bar food with nothing profound, but plenty that looked to be worth a try. I went with the bacon Gorgonzola burger with fries. The burger was tasty 8 oz. delicious and arrived cooked exactly as ordered - as were all the selections my friends had made. The fries were done perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for another meal as long as I wasn't in a huge rush. The up and coming music performances featured at least a few acts I would come out to see - so I can envision being back soon enough.

We were in Jamestown on a family vacation and saw this local spot with live blues. The music was great, best part of the night. As for the service, some of the worst I ever had. We came with a group and we're looking for a table. We waited and finally got a table, after which we realized the tables were for "food service only" with a "minimum $12.50 per person" requirement. We decided OK, we can spend 12.50 with drinks and order a couple appetizers. After we ordered the appetizers, the waitress Caitlyn came back with an attitude asking us to order the "rest of our meal." We told her we wouldn't be ordering entrees, and she became more and more rude all the while not clarifying the food requirement. Not to mention they were OUT of the 2 dishes we wanted to order. Coming from the hospitality industry in LA, we were horrified at how rude and unprofessional the young staff was. Even more maddening, we were taking a short video of the music to remember our vacation, and another waitress Annie got in our faces and judged us by saying "it's not polite to film people." We would definitely go back for the music but NEVER EVER go back for the food and service.

I was appalled by the poor attitudes of the 2 female waitresses. The mandatory 18% tip is unfortunate, but it's clear why they do it!

We visited 2 places to eat in Jamestown and both are horrible. This place we visited at night after arrival in town. The waitress was super nice and the only waitress for the entire place except the bartender. She did an outstanding job considering the work she had to do and tend to lots of people. WE ordered a burger and fries. And waited and waited and waited. I am not kidding it took 45 min or even longer to get our food. Once it arrived we had very soggy tasteless cold fries and a perfect cooked burger. Will not go back there either.

Great atmosphere as a small American bar. The music is a bit loud with all hard surfaces in the place. They have a shuffleboard and pool table. Pool is available during bands but the shuffleboard table gets covered as a bench/table. Food was good and is standard type bar fare from what I can tell. Don't expect fine dining but rather a decent hot meal.

Sometimes these small hole in the wall places are worth a visit. Not this one. We had the worst clam chowder, service was just OK, meal was fair, but French fries were good. Would not venture back for another visit.

Dive. Locals. Fun. When I want to go to out for a no-hassle night in Newport/Jamestown this is where I go. There is usually a happy crowd and good music on the weekend nights, but it's also good for an anytime beer. The Bloody Mary's are solid too! Pick from a list of 6 or 7 options to cure a mean hangover or kick start the day.

At 3 pm in the afternoon there was hardly anyone in the place. Took over an hour for 3 burgers, a grilled cheese and the daily special to come out from the kitchent. Waitress was clueless. Food was just ok. Will not go back.

I went into this place twice, the first time was late afternoon... and it was quiet and relaxing. The next night was loud and busy as hell. NIce place, enjoyed the first night much more...
