I have eaten here a dozen times over the last few months, and I have yet to be disappointed with my meal. In spite of what the gentleman below suggested, I am not a rube that only knows what's good for Mercer. I lived in Vegas for three years, the NYC area for four years, Pittsburgh for three, and the Bay Area for one. Sleggel's would be competitive in any of those markets (especially Pittsburgh, because people from Pittsburgh are fat idiots that will eat anything).

We've been here twice. Both times ordered food off of the specials menu. Tonight's chicken Florentine was great and the Frito pie burger was outstanding and cooked exactly to order specifications. This place is a quaint bar/restaurant and very nice. We will definitely be back.

Server was very polite and attentive. Probably 5 stars to her. Had the wings. Not huge fan of the whole wings they serve but the wings were good. I give the wings 3.5 stars. I was also charged for celery and carrots even though I declined them when ordering. Did not want and did not eat them. Yes I could have said something to server. It was only .45 charge but point is I specifically said no and the server acknowledged the vegetables were put on by accident. Not crucifying it's just the point.

I'll sum it up in one sentence, Sleggel's is somewhere that someone from Mercer would think has good food. That is all.

Definitely on my "Never Go Back" list. I went there with my in-laws and 3 of us got the prime rib. After a 30 minute wait for just our drinks, our expectations were dropping. The waitress started out friendly and stayed upbeat. We ended up waiting over 45 minutes before our order came up. I could understand if they were busy but there was only 1 other table in our entire section. Then when the prime rib arrived it was cold and tough. It had no seasoning at all. The fries were cold on one, the other prime rib had cold fries to. To bad it was supposed to have a baked potato. After asking to speak to a manager, we were told there weren't any (not even in the restaurant). The waitress said the bar tender deducted 20% (but was actually only 17% because that's the most they could do with out the missing manager). All in all it was a horrible experience and the topper was when we asked the bar tender what would be done to fix all these problems if we were to come back and he told us that honestly probably nothing. All in all an absolutely horrible dining experience that I have no intentions of every going back to endure again.

Ok, tonight was a training night. Restaurant does not officially open until Friday. So, I keep that in mind as I write this. This is in the old Benjimins restaurant building. Start to finish took 3 hrs and 5 min. Took 20 minutes for a drink order and another 10 minutes to get drinks for four. Four meals ordered. Three were completely consumed and plates removed before the fourth person was served. If the kitchen was that far behind, I would have made sure my customers had all the drinks flowing that they wanted. But our waitress did not. She only apologized for the slow service and complained about the kitchen staff. She claimed to have been a server at another local restaurant. She never once smiled. We never got our final drink order. Never got the loaf of bread that every other table got. So, even for a training night service was beyond poor. As for food quality. At first I thought my ribeye was great. Then I realized there was absolutely no seasoning at all and was never offered any steak sauce. My wife ordered crab stuffed whitefish. Sounds great right? Fish was exactly that.....white. No color, no seasoning, no garnish and tasteless as well. In fact it smelled horrible. Didn't taste as bad as it smelled. The lack of seasoning allowed more fish flavor out than whitefish should ever have. And it was cold on the outside hot in the middle. (Clearly nuked) Baked potato is served dry with only butter and sour cream on the side. They missed a great opportunity. Menu reads great! Fantastic selection of micro brews. I really hope things improve dramatically because I can see some good potential. The interior looks very nice with big improvements over the previous restaurant. I will re rate this place again after my next visit. Yes in spite of all the shortcomings tonight I will go back again to see if they make progress toward their potential.

I have gone once so far ( and I think Brian P owes them a 2nd visit ! ). Their food was excellent, the staff was very courteous, and there were no issues regarding timeliness. I must say that the atmosphere and pricing are definitely sports bar, but their dishes are prepared many levels beyond my sports bar expectations. Actually, I think I also owe them another visit.

If you're looking for a bar type food with no frills and no taste after a few beers the stuff can fill you up. If you're looking for gourmet food keep driving

Have tried it twice. Once for dinner and once for wings. Really wasn't impressed. More expensive than it should be for what you get food was slow and just okay. I had a burger, and even that I wouldn't order again. If you like whole wings that's about the only selling point. Mine were dry and just not very good. May try once more if they have a All you can eat but three strikes you're out...

Nice little spot in the middle of Mercer. We did the all you can eat full wings. The service was friendly, but slow. I do have to account that we had 14 people in our party. My wife had the Asian flavored wings and hot flavored. They were pretty standard wings. She also had some fresh cut fries. I had thier licker wing which were good. The parmeseon wings were the best of the bunch and rivaled other wings Ive had in other spots around Pittsburgh. I'd definitely give this place another go next time I visit Lake Latonka.
