Came here on a chance guess. This place is located on the far end of Hershey, which is extremely small already so it won't be hard to find or a long drive to get to. Parking isn't that bad and the inside is average. We arrive around 3 pm so there wasn't a crowd and service was fine. Ordered the house bowl, Uni (sea urchin), and the Christmas roll. And it was all excellent and fresh. Posted pics too. Uni is hard to come by but this place had it and prepared it well. They gave us a choice of either sushi or sashmi style. We choose sushi style just to make it easier to eat. Uni is like feathers and butter...really good! The Christmas roll was awesome, spicy tuna, avocado and tobiko. I highly recommend this roll. The house bowl is chunks of sushi in fish sauce with avocados and topped with planko. We definitely will go back to try other things on the menu.

Ok...so I've noticed that the sushi favorite amongst many people here is Sapporo East. I do not like the sushi there...so that fact might sway your impression of my review. K...continuar... I liked Wasabi. I've been here twice, and have had consistently good, fresh sushi here. I haven't tried any of the other meals, since I'm here for the sushi...but the appies are good as well! I highly recommend the green mussels which come in this spicy orange sauce. MMMMMMMM!!! You only get four, but I think the price was only $4.95...so a good value to try something new! We ordered sushi for two, during this last visit, and had plenty to eat for a $19.95 price. You get a mix of rolls and sushi, as well as soup and salad for both. On top of the nice sushi roll list, they have a specials menu to include even more rolls. Lots to pick from. Fish and rice were cold. Check. Fish didn't smell like fish. Check. Had numerous wasabi brain freezes. Check. Service was timely and fast. Check. One of the better places around here for sushi.

Glad to see another Asian restaurant pop up in Hershey, PA. Wasabi Bistro has a nice decor and ambiance. Don't forget to check the "specials" chalk board on the way in for some of their fancy rolls. Overall food is pretty standard Japanese bistro food - no hibachi/teppanyaki here (thank god!). Just some solid sushi/sashimi/rolls and other various Japanese dishes. Good lunch specials - grab the bento box as they come w/ rice, 3 pieces of Cali roll, 3 pieces of dumpling, soup and salad (plus your entree: sushi, sashimi, or teriyaki chicken/beef) all for $8-12 or so. They also offered beer and sake which was nice. Didn't have sake bombs on the menu but they were nice of us to let us make our own (it was dad's b-day so had to celebrate a bit). Service was timely in the beginning but were a little slow w/ the check, but it's not place were to go if you're in a rush anyways, so no big deal.

Very nice decor and great staff! I tried a few different things from the menu as well as a few off menu items and I must say this place leaves me impressed everytime I have been in there. All of their items are fresh and made to order and the staff was great, even when I broke my chop sticks lol. I highly recommend this place especially if you like sushi.

Sushi was worse than local grocery stores'. Got salmon roll and it was chopped salmon?!? Floor and chairs sticky, ambiance sorely lacking.

Save your stomach and go elsewhere. It's the morning after eating sushi at Wasabi and I still feel like I just walked out the door. You know that uncomfortable full feeling like you ate too much. The problem is between the two of us we only ate 3 rolls. Three rolls would normally be just an appetizer for us, but they were so bad we couldn't even finish them and immediately felt sick before we left the restaurant. All night long our stomachs twisted, turned and bubbled until I decided to just stick my finger down my throat and...well you can take it from there! It was our third time at Wasabi and each time it's gotten worse and worse. I have heard from friends that more than just a few people have got sick from this restaurant. We love sushi, and finding decent sushi in the Hbg/Hershey area is getting harder and harder. Yeah we're inland and I realize that but I lived in the rockies at 7000ft above sea level for 16 years, ate sushi at least once a week and NEVER got sick. These things called airplanes deliver fresh fish daily all over the country so theres no excuse. Save your money and stomach and find a good pizzeria. Plenty of those around here.

Pretty damn good sushi lunch specials. Worth the little drive. Confusing menu.

For Central PA this place is pretty decent. Clean, nice decor, good service, inexpensive. We ordered a couple rolls from the Chef's Special Rolls list and the vegetable tempura bento. Tempura was nicely fried, hot and not too much batter. Rolls were just ok. I would go back. Good for lunch.

I think this is a really good sushi restaurant int he area... Have been there multiple times to eat the love boat for two (39,95), the Sashimi/Sushi Entree, had the salmon skin appetizer, spicy octopus and a few rolls... Everything was good. The only thing I don't really like is their Miso soup which is bland and they serve this with most entrees. However, you can substitute the soup and salad with another item of your choice and paying a little extra... Great service and nice atmosphere. It's a great place for a date or celebrating as well as business meetings during lunch.

Went here tonight not expecting much. I'm from a large city in the northeast with awesome sushi restaurants in every neighborhood; since moving to hershey I was convinced I would never find a good sushi place in central PA. I've passed by wasabi on my ways home from work almost everyday and never thought to stop until tonight. The outside is a little deceiving from what you will experience on the inside. Now this certainly isn't a high end city sushi place, but is delicious and the food is quite fresh. In addition to satisfying sushi (especially the chef's specials) the drinks are strong and tasty. I will definitely be coming here more often!

This place is really great! Staff was great food was amazing and the price was right! I'm very picky with my sushi and this place nailed it!! I'll go again and again! Any questions just ask these people were more than willing to explain everything I asked! If our server was busy and our glass was empty someone else was right there for you! Give this place a try! Definatly worth every penny! Keep up the great work :)

This is actually one of the better Sushi restaurants in the area. I've been here 3 times so I think I can give a pretty fair review at this point. I was really impressed with how they decorated the once dive-y Greek diner/bar that it was (and for several decades -- in fact, a few blue collar-type guys came in the second time I dined there. They all sat down, looked at the menu and one said "Wait, where am I?!"). It is obvious to me that the owners are trying to give the place a modern feel with contemporary paint on the walls, subtle decorative accents and spot on lighting. It is a nice, warm atmosphere to hang out in for an hour or two. It's the food part that still needs a bit of help. The sushi is generally good. They don't offer the most exciting choices I've ever had, but everything seems fresh, which is important to me. My biggest problem with Wasabi Bistro (aside of the name -- WTF, "Bistro"? Is this a Japanese restaurant in France?) is any of their hot liquid items on the menu: they all taste like plastic. This is because they are served in plastic. The last time I was there, my friend had to push his Miso soup to the furthest end of the table because of the fumes! I was sad to see good old Dimitri's (RIP -- I'll never forget your gyros or the colorful regulars at the bar) go, however, Wasabi Bistro is a pretty decent replacement for an area that's severely lacking in new, exciting and modern dining. This badly branded name for a restaurant is nice to hang out in and have decent sushi, but watch out: the hot tea will get you motherf-ing high.

I brought my husband here on his birthday hoping to cheer him up after a bad day at work. I as excited to see a sushi place open in Hershey. I've tried Tokyo Diner in Hummelstown which was terrible and Sakura Do in Hershey which wasn't too bad but not the greatest so I was still on the search for a great sushi place in my area. Well I'm still searching. After arriving we were greeted by the hostess and sat right away. I did not find the floor and chairs sticky like the 1st reviewer but thought the place looked pretty nice. The menu sounded yummy and I ordered the shumai, seaweed salad, salmon sashimi, and a variety of sushi rolls. My husband ordered the sushi sampler which I personally think is a mistake to order because you don't get the best choices. Anyway the shumai and seaweed salad were tasty and my salmon sashimi looked fresh and tasted good. I have to say my rolls were also tasty but my husband's sushi sampler did not look appetizing. The fish did not look fresh and my husband said it tasted only ok. When we got home my husband became very sick and (sorry to be graphic) on the toilet for the rest of the night. I had a stomach ache but luckily that was it. It is safe to say we will never be going there again after my husband got so sick. Obviously the place does not keep a safe, clean kitchen nor does it order the freshest fish for sushi. My search for delicious sushi in the Hershey area continues....

Best sushi in town. Yes it's not NYC sushi as the fellow pointed out but it is good and reasonably priced.been here many times. Definitely need to sit at the sushi bar.

We were visiting Hershey park and stayed at a motel in Chocolate Ave. This restaurant was one of the few restaurants close to our hotel so we decided to give it a shot. There was another Japanese restaurant (Sakura Do) nearby but we decided on this one because it looked more family friendly. The shrimp tempura and beef teriyaki were awesome. The beef was tender and tasty. My 6 year old kid is picky and no matter where we go, she would always choose chicken tender and fries over anything. It wasn't on the menu but I asked anyway and much to my surprise, they serve my daughter chicken and fries. WIN WIN! Oh and the staff is super friendly!

This restaurant is a good example of the old proverbial caution to not judge a book by its cover. Settled along the outskirts of Hershey the large sign makes the establishment easy to find. Inside, the decor is chic and tasteful. Service was prompt and there were plenty of choices for types of sushi, which is what my boyfriend and I were after. The sushi was good! My favorite of the ones we ordered was the TNT roll. Very tasty, would recommend!

Went there for the reviews, and man were we disappointed. So let me start off by saying we weren't seated immediately, which is understandable if it were busy but there isn't anyone even assigned to seating arrangements, just a scattered staff. Then the menu itself is confusing, no where does it state that the chef chooses which sushi you eat. But we felt adventurous, so we went for it. The soup, salad & Kani salad were good. But the sushi hand roll, the sashimi, & chef roll weren't. I never complain about price because if it's delicious then it's worth it. But when I looked at our "love boat" I thought it was a joke. Literally one hand roll & one chef roll with a few small random pieces of fish which didn't taste fresh. I'm not the type to complain but I was so tempted to, because I felt it was truly a rip off. Who knows maybe at one point this place was good, but to me as of today it was bad. Definitely not a place I'd return to.

Came here after a day at the park. The service was good. The sushi selection was pretty good (being from DC were kind of picky sushi eaters) and they had a decent bar. Recommend it if you want something other than American food while in Hershey.

What a great find! From wonderful appetizers to amazing sushi, you are in for a treat! Don't judge this book by its cover. Try it and you'll love it!

This review is completely biased as someone who eats Japanese a lot in NYC. We stumbled into this place after our initial plan of eating at the lone Viet restaurant in Hershey was sabotaged by the restaurant closing early inexplicably. The food isn't particularly good but it isn't terrible either. Choices are standard and the sushi bar has its own unique rolls which appeal to those who like fusion cuisine. Service was a little slow but attentive. It's getting 2 stars because the sushi rice was absolutely bland. No mirin, no vinegar. It was like plain white rice, which was a shame since the fish quality there was surprisingly decent. Still its a nice change of pace from the predominantly American eateries in Hershey.

One of the best sushi joints in the Harrisburg/Hershey area. We ate here for the first time a week or so ago. Everything was fresh, yummy and made with skill. ...and the prices were very reasonable. I would say their prices are well below those of other local sushi bars. Don't let the low prices fool you though, this is good sushi. I loved the Tai Tai roll. Oooh, and when you are seated you are provided with fresh out of the fryer noodles to gnosh on while you are waiting for your entrée. The noodles are not in the traditional shape though, they are almost like triangular tortilla chips, which is cool and different. Service was great too. I liked that they also have a grill for our non-sushi-eating friends. We plan to return very soon.

Total disappointment! My family and I planned on enjoying a delicious meal as usual at Wasabi and left with empty stomachs! A server sat me while husband, baby and 2 kids were coming in from the car. While waiting for my family, a sever came to the table and starting picking up all the menus and said "I'm sorry but you need to move, this table is reserved and she is new and should not have sat you here." I assumed they were just moving us to another table. She then comes back after all my family is at the table now as says "you are going to need to get up and wait over there and I don't know how long it is going to take, I'm sorry." I said "are you serious? I have a baby!" There is no place to stand and wait in there let alone with an infant seat!. She said that we would have to get up and wait and that she was sorry. I told her this is ridiculous and we are leaving. My husband asked 2 times to speak to manager and the woman said "she isn't here." Really!!!! No manager on V-day??? My husband said "Someone has to be on charge!" So a sushi chef came over and my husband to him what happened and the chef says "I told her to leave you there and worry about the reservation later." My husband said "well that didn't happen". He said sorry and asked if we would give them another chance. My husband said no we are disappointed.

I have eaten here twice recently and I can't think of anything negative to say about it at all. It's decorated really nicely inside, so don't let the dated awkward exterior deter you. They have some of the most unique specialty rolls I've ever had! I've had maybe 5-6 different ones and each one was delicious. By far the spicy wasabi tuna roll was my favorite, although that may have been a weekly special type one and not always on the menu. Everything always tastes fresh, and as others have mentioned check the board on the way in. Staff has been attentive and very nice. It's a bit out of the way from Harrisburg, but well worth the drive for what can honestly be said is some of the best sushi around! I for one can't wait to go back again soon and try everything else on the menu!

I had lunch here today and can't wait to eat here again. The best sushi in the area. Everyone in my party was extremely pleased with their meal! Waitress pleasant and attentive. Can't wait for my next visit!

While I admit that I only have sushi a few times a year, Wasabi Bistro has the most extensive selection I've seen. I've probably sampled 10 - 12 different types of sushi here in the few times I've visited, and all were fresh and tasty and left me wanting more. They offer a wide variety of sushi tastes and spice levels, from traditional California-roll types to snazzier, more fusion-esque varieties. The toughest part was choosing between them... in fact, you may want to be ready to spend a few extra dollars to try several and share them with a friend. Salads and side dishes were nice too. If you're in Hershey, this is just down the road from the downtown area, and worth the extra mile's drive.

Just want to say how amazing this place is. There ginger salad is the best I have ever had. They also have the best sushi in the entire area including the Harrisburg area. It's beautifully decorated and the wait staff is so friendly. I drive about an hour and a half just to come but it's so worth it!

Fish is cold and seems fresh. Lots of creative fusion rolls and specials. A solid choice if you find yourself looking for sushi in The area.

Just had lunch here for the first time. Reasonable prices, beautifully presented, and very tasty. Beef teriyaki was perfectly cooked. Daughters shrimp teriyaki was a huge portion (from kids menu), so I got to taste it also, fantastic.

I honestly don't understand all the lukewarm reviews. I've had a lot of sushi in my life in quite a few cities, and I think this place is pretty legit. Especially for Hershey. First of all, the staff is super sweet. My friend and I came in here Christmas eve, 30 minutes before close, and they all greeted us with genuine smiles. My friend and I both have worked in the service industry so we were honestly kind of expecting some attitude seeing as we were the ONLY people in the restaurant at that time, but we got the opposite. Our server was excited about the specials, gave us just the right amount of attention, and was all around friendly. Seriously, he said Merry Christmas like five times throughout the evening. It was adorable. As for the sushi, I was really pleased. Everything was delicious and fresh and the prices were totally reasonable. My friend and I FEASTED, I'm talking huge sashimi app, 4+ specialty rolls, and two carafes of sake--and our bills was only like $80. Be sure to check out their specials at the front upon walking in, they have some really unique maki.

Presentation was beautiful, service was attentive and accomodating (they took pics of my sweetheart and me ;-)) and the sushi was DELICIOUS. The Love Boat was worth every penny. Every bite was savored, that's for sure!

  • Jennifer Z.

They used sesame seeds to top the sushi rather than caviar- which I thought was strange, but the food was decent. Kugo's in Lebanon is better. Sakuro Do across the street is also better but their hours are limited.

On my first visit my overall impression is not good at all. I lived in Japan for over 4 years so this may be an unfair review. The menu is well stocked with everything you would want. The place is clean. I went during lunch and it wasn't busy. Service was extremely slow, took about 10 minutes to place my first order then another 10 for me to get my miso and it came out almost cold. My main meal was sushi a la carte. I initially asked if they had otoro, good sushi places have some but it usually isn't on the menu as it can be pricey, but after asking for it twice and the waitress did not know what I was asking for I moved on. I then ordered hokigai (surf clams), maguro (tuna), unagi (eel), and hamachi (yellow tail). It took another 15 minutes for that order to come out. If it was good I don't mind waiting...this was not the case. The items came out at room temperature, the rice was hard, and the unagi was stiff. This was obviously not a fresh service type of place. The waitress was nice and smiled a lot but I think it was because of all the mistakes she was making. In her defense we did have a party of 20 and not one other server offered to help. After I was clearly done eating I waited about 10 minutes for the server to come back and ask if I wanted anything else...I said no and it took at least another 10 minutes for her to return and another...yep, you get the idea, 10 minutes to get the check and get out. Being new to the area I am looking for a good sushi bar...this is not it. However, the reviews are very good and numerous for this place so I will go back and try them again. Heck, everyone has a bad day now and again and should have the chance to redeem themselves.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! Sushi is top notch, great prices, awesome staff. Did I say the sushi is phenomenal? I try to come here regularly when I have time. Best sushi joint around. If you're in the area and want sushi, this is the place to go to!

Wasabi Bistro has pretty good sushi....especially for a place like Hershey where there is no ocean in sight! I had heard horror stories from friends who stated they got sick after eating here, but of the many times I have eaten and ordered from this restaurant, I've never gotten ill. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated, and the service is friendly and efficient. Try the Victoria Secret roll, it's delish!

Ate at the Wasabi Bistro before a concert at the stadium. At 5:00 on a Saturday, I was surprised how sparse the place was. The inside is well-decorated and clean and the wait staff was very attentive, asking for drink orders as soon as we sat down. I had three rolls- the California roll was fresh and tasty with ripe avocado, and the Jungle roll was amazing. whitefish and avocado topped with "medium spicy sauce" and served warm. The last roll was so bland I can't even remember the name. It had lettuce, which I never had as a part of sushi before. I believe it was just shrimp and lettuce and cucumber. There was supposed to be a "spicy sauce" but I tasted no trace of any sauce. Loading it with ginger and soy sauce made it taste slightly better, but I will probably never order it again. My experience at Wasabi was overall good though and I will be back to try some more of their special rolls and a la carte items.

Eh, its okay. The sushi wasn't bad but it was actually quite small for what we paid for. I wouldn''t go there again, i'd rather go to miso.

We have eaten here many times since this restaurant opened the food has always been delicious. Tonight again good sushi, but service awful. A couple who came in after us had appetizers and dinner before we got our appetizers. 35 minutes till served. Then they charged my debit card for another table $60 and said it was voided but may take a few days until I get credited. What? My debit card is $60 overcharged.....Really? Not acceptable and will go back to Tokyo Diner.

In town for a concert, drove by a few places decided on this one for dinner. Food was excellent, from the 'chips' to the soup & salad to the sushi to the hibachi style chicken dinner to the fried ice cream! Very clean and nicely decorated inside. Bill only came out to under $40!

This place was okay, for a new place I would have expected more from the atmosphere. Food was average, but the staff was very nice. They did a good job keeping my 16 month son entertained. The place has a lot of potential, they are just not there yet. Parking is kind of rough, but there is not much they can do about that.

Food was okay. Sushi was pretty basic, not much flavor. A little pricey. There are better sushi joints in the Harrisburg area!

Excellent Salmon tempura and appetizers. Worth a trip for dinner. The food is excellent and the service is very good. I would recommend this place as I was not even in the mood for Japanese food before we went out but glad we did go for Japanese and the Bistro.

I just had a party tray made for a bridal shower. The sushi rolls were BIG and so fresh, really just perfect. The tuna nigiri was also large and very tasty/not at all fishy. The manager worked with me to create the items I really wanted within my price range. Good experience, I'll recommend Wasabi and visit when I'm in the area!

We decided on Wasabi Bistro when we wanted to eat dinner before a concert at Hershey Park. First this is a great choice because the franchise restaurants were crazy busy and at Wasabi we were seated right away. The sushi is out of this world. I had the Hollywood Roll which was beyond delicious and the spicy tuna. My sister had the spicy tuna bowl appetizer and it was amazing. Very fresh and beautifully prepared. This will be our go to spot when we are in town!

Had to hang out in town for a few hours over lunch today and remembered passing this place several times. I find it hard to pass up on sushi. My partner for the day decided he would rather turn his nose up and goto Subway next door, forcing me to go it alone! Glad I did. Very nice restaurant. I got there just as they were opening for lunch. Very nice staff with a very clean building. The lunch special award very reasonable, three roles and soup for $12. I was by myself and wasting time on my phone taking my time eating, but I never felt rushed by the staff. The food was good and fast, no complaints. If I find myself in the area again around lunch time with another partner (cross fingers) I will defiantly be coming back.

Best sushi place in the area. Believe me- we have tried them all. The prices are great, and if you make it for the lunch specials, the deals are incredible.

Food is good but a bit pricey for what you get. Location is great, just outside of Hershey and the staff is attentive without being intrusive.

Love, love, love this place!! We go once a week for the food, service, variety, and consistency. Fish is fresh, the rolls are unique, and Ivan and his staff make us feel welcome the moment we walk through the door. Love the yellowtail classic roll (tuna with avocado, cilantro, jalapeño, and a bangin sauce), uni shots with ponzu and quail egg, and the twister roll which has avocado & mango... Delish!!!! Best sushi in PA!!
