With the plethora of burger places in Exton, I will say this falls in the middle of the pack. Right now there are too many choices and some will not stick around long. Within a few miles, you have: 5 guys in the Exton Mall Buddy's Burgers in Main Street Exton Butcher Burger down by Eagleville (where Chaleez burgers failed) Red Robin on Rt 113/Rt 100 and now Jakes where the old Quiznos and Subway failed the past years. A buddy and mine went to Jakes for lunch today, the burger wasnt bad...but not great. I think the price was reasonable - cost about $8 for a burger + fries + drink. But the fries were $1.50 for a lil portion on the side, not enough if you ask me unless you bump up to the larger size. The burger was a double and didnt taste much different from others in the area. The bun was soft on top and toasted underneath which is nice, but wasnt seeded (my personal preference). I did see one employee with the flat iron grill like pressing as hard as he could on the burgers and that was kind of a turn off to see all that great, greasy goodness steaming away from the burger patty. The cheese fries ($2.99 compared to the paltry $1.50 small side of regular fries) use 2 types of real cheese melted on top, they were OK but were soggy and not sure if they are frozen or not (I think they are frozen - but that might just be me). I personally think 5 guys is better then Jakes for made to order burgers....and Red Robin's (gasp, a chain!!!) for the price is a better burger and not much more $ (unless you get app's and drinks etc). Get the Royal Red Robin burger with fried egg and your life will change forever! (and no I dont work for them :) So overall, Id give them a 3.5 out of 5. Not terrible, but not knock your socks off. Im scared to say if a Subway cant survive at the same location (and a quiznos) along with the glut of made to order burger places in Exton - I think this is going to be tough to stay open.

I liked the burgers and fries, they were both great. The service people seemed nice, but sometimes it could be a little difficult to order and I would find myself repeating orders once or twice. It took a few minutes, but it is brought to your table in little baskets. The burgers are two meat patties, so its a lot of food. I only finished a little more than half. The fries are perfect, with the nice amount of oil and a nice crispy texture. Didn't try the shakes, but they looked good. I'll just stick with my soda :) Another nice thing was that the burgers were not very greasy or oily. I didn't see any stains on the paper, and they tasted very fresh. Overall, I enjoyed my experience, even with a bit of frustration, the food was great. I would definetely come back here again.

My kids love their burgers and shakes. I think it's a little pricey, but very tasty.

It's small; it's local. I don't understand the lousy reviews. It is not the place to go for a fast burger. But the owner/operator is friendly. Great burgers, better even than Five Guys, said my son. And the fries are excellent, too.

The chili cheese fries are so good. I was staying next door for about a month for business and ate here a lot. The burgers were pretty good as well as the hot dogs. The season fries are also really good. Top marks for the chocolate shakes. The management and staff were always very friendly and helpful to me.

Wonderful burgers and great shakes make this place a great value. If you are looking for the simple goodness of an old fashioned hamburger, look no further.

Went back for a second try tonight. It was very busy, but we still got our food promptly. The employees were very nice and accommodating, but they didn't know how to take the 15% off our bill from the Yelp coupon. They only gave us 10%.

Burgers are to greasy for me (I do have a sensitive stomach). But still the best black and white milkshake I have ever had. And I travled quite a bit in the navy. The staff was very friendly asked if I had any questions about the menu. Then when I got my takeout they had already put ketchup in the bag, love it.

I am normally not one to show at closing, but for a burger, 15 minutes before closing should be alright. Showed up... Closed, lights on, employees ignoring my existence, locked up, cleaning going on. Reading some of the reviews, I should have known better. Most certainly won't be wasting my time in the future.

I've been here a few times, and this review is a culmination of those visits. I don't know if they have changed owners, but for the last year, their customer service has been horrible. There have been times that you stand at the counter for a while as all the employees work on someone else's order, and times when they see you standing there, but they're intent on doing other tasks but take your order. Twice they forgot to put a part of your order in your bag, and you discover it after you've left, you go back and the employees are not the least bit apologetic. The food tastes great, but the constant disappointing lack of caring about their customers makes me not want to go back again.

Well, i see all the positive reviews but i guess thats why they make chocolate and vanilla. Went here on a wim based on a recommendation. I do like a good burger. Pathetic burgers a notch above McDonalds. Wait not as good as burger king. And Way more expensive. Jake's needs to go way back to the drawing board. they would not make the burger list....

The food is all right. Nothing special, and I would have given this place a higher rating if it weren't for the terrible customer service I just received. This is probably my 3rd or 4th time getting food from here. There's a Yelp check-in offer for 15% off. I have definitely used it every time I've come. So imagine the frustration when the girl says "I can't do that. We only have 10% or 20%." I explain that it has been done before. The other guy was trying to help me out and wanted to calculate 15% off on his phone, then just deduct appropriately. (Points to him.) The girl refused, and said to just hurry up because she wants to go home. (They're about to close because it's a snow day.) UGH. She ended up giving me 10% off. Shouldn't it be that the customer should be in favor, so I should've gotten 20% off instead? Not that a few cents matter, but it's really the principle of it all. TERRIBLE. I wish I had gotten her name, so I could file a real complaint to their manager. I hate to give a low rating due to ONE person, but it has to be done because really, it trickles up. If you have a 15% check-in offer, train your employees how to perform the function! OH, I also forgot to mention how RUDE she was on the phone with me when I called in my order. Couldn't get my name right. (It's just ACE. How hard is that?!) And when I asked her to repeat what comes on the burgers, she got frustrated and snapped back with attitude. If I had another option walking distance for lunch, I would've hung up right then and there. UGH.

An ok place. Was really glad I finally got the chance to check this place out. Flavorful burger but I don't like how you don't have the option of how you would like it cooked. It's similar in nature to a Five Guys, or Cheeburger Cheeburger but offers nothing more to challenge the aformentioned. Not a fan of the bun. It is a soft bun, and with all the grease from the burger, it just becomes a sloppy mess by your second, or third bite. You need to either grill the interior part of the bun, or toast the interior of the bun to prevent this from becoming a sponge of liquid, and getting destroyed. Sauces were ok. Adding a combo meal of rings and a beverage for an extra $4 wasn't really worth it. There about 7 onion rings included in the order. All in all, not bad but for the price, it's not really making me running to get back anytime soon.

I won't fib. The fries were decent, but the atmosphere was ridiculous. The cashier stared at me when I was ordering like she had no clue she even worked there. The person I assumed was the manager was barking orders over me, and at one point a gentleman (who had to be an employee) sauntered in, in what could only described as pajamas, and made himself something to eat behind the counter. There was also an employee there who was being elbowed in passing by the more boisterous employees, and I truly and honestly thought she was going to cry. Also, while I was there, some complaints were being made about the beverages.

Service was meh. Fries tasted a bit funny ... but the burger was decent ... Five Guys-esque. Not feeling like this is 4+ stars ... but it's a nice neighborhood burger joint.

Actually a pretty good burger. The chicken on the caesar salad was moist and fresh. Fries OK and ESPN on TV. No reason to make a special trip, but if you are hungry and its close by certainly worth a stop.

I've eaten at several Jake's in the past and love the food!! Juicy flavorful burgers, great onion rings, and cheese fries! Fresh veggies on the burgers too! The staff here was very pleasant. I would recommend better signage, as you can only enter on Gordon Rd, and if you're driving on Rte 100, it's a bit difficult to see a way in. If I'm in the Exton area again, I would mos def go back!

Good burger, attitude of cashier not so good (in fact, pretty miserable). So, I doubt I'll be back - not worth the aggrevation.

My family and I love Jake's in Exton. My 3yo said it's his favorite restaurant, and he pretends to make Wayback burgers in his toy kitchen at home. My 2 kids would rather eat there than McD's. That's huge. Burgers are delish and the topping choices are extensive, most all are included. Their onion rings rock. Fries are pretty good, too. I find the portions to be ample for the price. BIG plus for my family, kids eat for free on Mondays and Tuesdays. Completely free...how can you beat that? A few weeks ago I took my kids there and I spent $7 for the 3 of us to have a quick-but-not-fast-food dinner. Service has been good the number of times we've been there.

I'm a fan. I tend to stop here when I'm in the area after finding it next to our hotel on one trip. I really like the burgers here. Service was OK too. Nothing to rave about, just solid.

I have driven by this storefront many times and never stopped in. I thought i would give it a try. The store if very clean and the service is great with a smile. I had the Jake's double cheeseburger with everything and an order of french fries. I went outside to eat the meal on the front sidewalk while utilizing the free wifi. The burger and fries were just OK. The burger was lacking in flavor. I will try another food item just to see if they have something else to keep my interest.

My daughter and I stopped for lunch last week, been to Starbucks next door many times so figured what the heck. What a great decision! I had the bacon double burger. Knew all the health warnings of red meat, fries etc, blah blah. One of the best burgers I've had In a long time! Fresh made and the manager/owner was very helpful. Even stopped by the table to ask if everything was OK. we'll definitely be back, can't wait.

I was just driving by Jake's Way Back Burgers yesterday and I had an uncontrollable urge to pull in and grab a bite for the road. I Was able to talk to the owner and other staff members. I have been there at least twice a week for several weeks and always look forward to the great service and mouth watering food! Just thinking about Jakes' Way Back Burgers makes me want a burger something fierce! Jake's is by far my number one burger stop! I have tried a few others in this area as well as in Seattle, Houston, Virginia Beach and California. Jake's is in a perfect location. I look forward to lunch! Super tasty and delicious! What more is there to know, Go to Jake's Way Back Burgers!

Popped into Jake's late the other night. This location has only been open 5 weeks. I got to talk to the owner operator, Don, of this franchise location. Really nice guy! Go help this guy out. The burgers are great, especially in this PA desert for beef patties... I got the Jake, which is like a double cheeseburger, wife got the turkey burger(comps to the bird) and a order of chili fries. I wont top it out at a 5 cuz the fries were a lil on the small side i thought, but we were sharing too soo... GO bite some cow on 100!

Ah, where to start? When we entered, the restaurant wasn't busy, there was one couple in line, already placing their orders. The wait for our food (two burger meals, including two shakes, and a chili cheese dog) was astoundingly long -- over 20 minutes, by their clock. The burgers were small, greasy, and the meat seemed to be of the same quality (or lower) than mcdonald's, with the same overprocessed nontaste. The cheese on the cheeseburger is cheez whiz -- ridiculous! The fries were essentially grease sponges, completely inedible. The shakes had a funny chemical taste. The chili cheese dog ended up being a plain dog, since the chili and cheese were plastered to the wrapper. The dog was tasty. The place is small and extremely noisy, likely due to the shake machine prominently placed in the middle of the restaurant so that the noise from the incompetent workers permeates the entire space. The incompetent person making the shakes kept grinding the spinning paddle against the side of the metal mixing cup creating an amazingly annoying whine. He persisted, despite half-hearted efforts from the manager apparent to correct him. The manager apparent should have taken over completely instead of trying to make transparend, inane small talk with us and apologizing for the delay, with no explanation. In the past, we've had good shakes at another Jake's (Chadd's Ford), but we never ate food at that other location. We will NEVER return, and strongly recommend against Jake's in Exton.

I tried Jake's tonight because I was craving a good burger. I was pretty disappointed overall. For what you are getting, the prices are kind of ridiculous. The buns on both the hot dogs and burgers were disappointing and paltry almost like cheap grocery store buns. In fact I'm pretty sure they were cheap grocery store buns. For the price, I'd expect much better. The burger itself was good. The chili cheese fries were disgusting but not in the good way chili cheese fries should be. They were just soggy and the cheese was greasy and nasty. The hot dog could have been okay had it been on another type of bun. In this immediate area you can do better by going to Red Robin on 113 or Five Guys in the mall for much tastier burgers and fries. With both of these other options you get more for your money, they are faster and the fries are much better. I probably won't be going back anytime soon. And...now it's about 4 hours later and I am sick as a dog. Thanks Jake's.

The food was ok, but it could be really good if the owner hirer a better cook and learn how to put seasoning in it food. I do recommend that the community show their support to this owner because he is trying his very best to put out a decent product
