It was a lovely evening and my girlfriend and I requested to sit outside. When we went to the patio area the hostess asked us to choose where we wanted to sit. I thought this was odd since servers tend to follow a rotation which made me think the the outside tables were "picked up" by servers that had sections which were inside the restaurant. Our table was not set with silverware and the server did not bring them when she greeted the table. She was nice and knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. She brought us chips right away and we ordered a few of their speciality margaritas and a diet coke. The bar was a little busy so the waitress brought us some water to wash down the chips which was nice. No diet coke. We ordered their house guacamole with bacon on the side, but peach salsa mixed in. When our drinks came they were tasty but nothing to brag about. I figured since the place was called "Margaritas" we'd have our socks knocked off. No diet coke. I ordered a chimichanga and my girlfriend got a burrito. We had finished the complimentary chips but the time the food runner brought the guacamole and asked her for more chips and a diet coke. The guacamole did come with 2 tortilla chips as presentation. Not enough to finish the guacamole. The food runner didn't offer to get it herself, but said "I'll go tell your server" gee thanks. We were getting annoyed because we didn't have chips or silver ware to eat the guacamole. I decided to go inside to ask a bartender for more chips at least. There were a few patrons at the bar but they weren't overwhelmed. I stood at the bar trying to get the bartenders attention, nothing. The bartender made eye contact with me, and kept moving. There were a few servers rolling silverware at the bar tables they didn't seem to care either, it's the end of the night for them. I went back to the table, annoyed. A few minutes later our waitress come to check on us, no diet coke. We asked once again for more chips and a diet coke and FINALLY we got a diet coke. Our food came out piping hot, looking mouthed watering, I reached for my silverware, but forgot... NO SILVERWARE. A few minutes passed and our waitress came up to us looking confused as to why we hadn't touched our food yet. We asked for silverware...again, this time she was prompt and came right back with it. We were enjoying the meal, and our waitress came to remove some our dishes and as I was taking a bite out of my food, asked "Are you finished, did you save room for desert..." Then started listing all of the desert options. I didn't hear what she was saying because I was seeing red, we weren't even half way through our meal! Leave me alone! I just wanted to leave. When we were packing up to go, we noticed a busser cleaning off a table and pouring the drinks on to the parking lot so she could stack all of the cups as more then one trip to clean the table wasn't an option. When we left the management team were relaxing on the couches at the host stand, no don't get up we'll see ourselves out.

I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent and came quickly and our waiter was attentive. There were no issues with our order. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that it is a little pricey.

My wife and I visited Sunday and were pleasantly surprised. Just open a week and service was perfect. Our waiter was able to answer our questions easily. Really enjoyed the fish tacos!. Salsa was a little spicy, so kids will probably not like it. Margaritas were great. Definitely going back again...

Most disgusting burrito I've ever had. I really wanted to ask for my money back, but I didn't want to be "that customer" so we just asked for our check within 10 minutes of getting food and left. Praying I don't get food poisoning from the 5 bites I took. Jesus take the wheel

Went there on Saturday. Had a 5pm-5:15pm reservation. We got there at 5:08pm and it looks like we were taken off the list. They quickly then realized what they did and I got a eye roll from the young lady at the desk. She then sent someone to set up our table again. Long story short we did not get our food until 6:30pm. I had a 3 year old with me which made that hour wait a real treat. This is the 2nd time I have had a bad experience there and will not be making it a third. That and the young blonde at the front desk is a real peach too. She was rude both times I have been there.

I visited on opening night, Thursday June 12th, with 2 friends. We sat at the bar for appetizers and margaritas. I highly recommend the queso. It arrived piping hot, and full of flavor. Unlimited chips and fresh made salsa are complimentary. I sampled several different magraritas. My favorite was the Pepino, with Sauza Blue Silver Tequila, muddled mint, cucumber, and habanero lime. I look forward to visiting this location again soon!

My husband and daughter were fine with what they ate (pork tacos in soft shells and an enchilada plate) but mine was bad. I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga and when it came it was sitting in a puddle of oil. How do you pull something out of a deep fryer and not allow it to drain?! I used the empty chip plate on our table to transfer the chimichanga out of the puddle trapped between the rice and beans. Won't be going back anytime soon.

The is obviously Americanized Mexican. But they didn't try to make it authentic at least. I'm a huge fan of salads so I decided to order the grilled shrimp salad with avocado and it was kind of a disappointment. It was a small portion and doesn't seem like they really take care of the salad presentation. I'm sure they have other good items but they should take care of every single category in the menu including the salads.

I've eaten here a few times and I've had decent experiences. You get served complimentary chips and salsa as soon as you sit and don't have to wait very long between ordering you food and being served. The bar seating is first come first serve which I've always found annoying. The waitstaff seems to get slammed in this area, which has led to me standing and waiting at a dirty table. The same night, my order was wrong. I was starving so I ate it anyway (shame on me). The food is decent and so are the drinks. One time, though, we had the house margarita special and it had next to no tequila in it.

Please get new management! Every time, every single time, I have been here....we have been told that they are OUT of things. It's close to our house, which is why we go...however.... last night- they were out of straws. Last time, it was refried beans and 3 of the drinks that we ordered....3! I have given this place too many chances and now we are done. Even the server was complaining about how disorganized the place is.

I agree with the reviewer who said "just don't do it". Service was adequate but the food was very disappointing - not tasty, messy, over priced. Will NEVER go back. .

  • Alycia P.

Not the best Mexican but not the worst. The queso didn't have much flavor. The chicken chimichanga was good but the rice was dry and refried beans weren't that good. Fajitas and quesadillas are okay. Margaritas are good and they have a large selection. I do like that they give you chips and salsa right when you sit down and continue to replenish your chips. I do like the atmosphere though which makes it enjoyable to come. The inside bar area is colorful and inviting and even the outdoor seating is nice. They have colorful lights, a fireplace, and good music. The staff has always been friendly.

  • Melanie K.

The food was not that great. I got the quesadillas and they were like small undercooked nacho looking things. I was there over a year ago, so maybe they changed. I thought to write this review because they are a new place in the Collegeville area, and wanted to warn people of their commercial-tasting food and atmosphere. If you want real Mexican, this isn't the place to get it.

  • Charles W.

I agree with the reviewers who say "just don't do it." I did not want to go but my girlfriend wanted to go. She is very happy with the regular tacos and the margarita. My salmon salad had the most bland piece of fish. The service was lacking. And I didn't think my girlfriend's taco wasn't a step above Moe or other fast casual Mexican dining locations, Stay away!

  • Jani C.

I have been going to this restaurant for a couple of years now and it's quite disappointing!! I don't appreciate sitting at a sticky, dirty bar and asking the bartender to give me their dirty rag so I can clean up a spill on the seat I want to sit in. This place is a filthy disgrace. These bartenders should be ashamed at how they keep up with the cleanliness of the bar!! There's obviously a huge lack of management. Shame on Margarita's for allowing the lack of proper, mature bartenders who know how to keep a bar clean of microbes that several people share day after day... This is totally disrespectful to the clientele. This is certainly NOT a 'welcoming" bar. ....Who wants to sit in other peoples filth?....

  • Tracie F.

Gross! Needs to be cleaned. I have eaten here about 5 times now. Progressively worse each time. Last time July 2015, sticky table, sticky menus , dirty glasses, taco salad was soggy and had 1 inch of water (I'm hoping) in the bottom. Staff is young and doesn't care. Shame, I love Mexican food and would eat there all of the time.

Extremely disappointed I always sit at the bar when George is the bartender he is amazing at his job and makes such good margaritas and the past few times Iv been he has off every Wednesday, the blond female bartender on the other hand on Wednesdays has a HUGE attitude problem and is to busy on her phone then making good drinks my ruslrita was all ice and had to be remade again and she got all obnoxious when the server asked her to reblend the drink. As someone who works for a high end resturaunt myself I know how it feels being in the industry so for someone to be so miserable to you is disappointing when your out for a good time and the bartender ruined it. Management should really keep an eye out better for how nasty she is to guests and really should re-train her like George and all the male bartenders they give better service then she did! She was to busy texting on her phone then properly making my drink, disappointed don't come to the bar to drink if she is back their, your better off going on a day she doesn't work

  • Jessica A.

This place isn't bad. Their margaritas are awesome and super strong. Free chips and salsa are a perk, some of the entrees look a little haphazard and messy, but I got tacos and was mostly pleased. In the future I prefer On The Border or Los Azteca. But definitely a step up from Chilis with way more authentic options.

  • Arin S.

Ew is all I can say. I ordered the bacon guac and sent it back. It was clearly not fresh, came from a container or something. I can't take a Mexican restaurant seriously if they can't serve fresh guac. I barely remember the food which says something in itself. The margaritas were nothing special. Overall very disappointing and although I'm intrigued by the $8 all you can eat tacos, I'm not sure I'll go back to try them.

  • Chris B.

Decent Mexican food, great restaurant staff. For a Thursday night, it seemed packed. The chips and salsa to start are better than average. The salsa actually has some kick which is nice. The fajitas were also great, and getting extra tortillas was not a problem. Where other restaurants charge extra or put up a fuss for tortillas, they were offered with a smile. Seems like a great place for groups to get together.

  • Rebecca M.

The food was sub par, it lacked flavor, was not presented well, and generally lacked Mexican authenticity. The chips were good and the guac was ok, but I've had far better guac other places. They served the guac with a taco shell...weird, we were expecting a bowl of chips to dip in it. My tacos were alright but my husbands enchilada looked like a pile of mushy slop. Overly smothered in sauce. They did have good beers on tap and my margarita was good. So no complaints on the bar service. The table service was slow and could use improvement. Granted, they were packed so we expected some slow service. But, when we asked for more chips for the guac (mentioned above) the waitress forgot about them and we ended up continuing to ask for more chips a few more times before we actually got them. Overall - meh. Wasn't impressed.

We went to Margaritas for the second time and it was as good as the first time. The food not only looked good, it tasted great! I really like how they decorated the place, very nice atmosphere. The bar is great as well. Most times you look at the pictures of the food and it looks nothing like what they serve you, at Margarita's, the food looks so nice when it comes to you. Snack on fresh hot chips and tasty salsa, sipping a wonderful Margarita while you wait for dinner. The service both times we went was very good. If you don't want to wait long for a table try to get there early because it seems a lot of people like this Mexican food too! This is not Taco Bell or even On The Border, it's much better than that. I will make this a regular stop when I need some fantastic Mexican cuisine! I think the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get. Oh and even the restroom was nice and clean, very modern features, Dyson hand dryers, automatic warm water when you walk up, soapstone sink. Details everywhere in this place.

Just don't eat here. Don't. Do. It. I ignored these bad reviews because the outdoor seating area is so cute. Service was subpar, food was mediocre, and prices are not cheap for such an inferior dining experience. One of my favorite local Mexican restaurants is Plaza Azteca in Plymouth Meeting and this place doesn't even come close. Save your money and eat at Taco Bell. Seriously!

Walking in here I had high expectations and the longer I was in there I could see those expectations fade away. First of all we ordered water and margaritas and the margaritas came first and 5 minutes later the water finally made it to our table. The service was a little slow considering the place was more than half empty on a Sunday afternoon. So we loaded up on the free chips, heck we even got a second order of it because the food was talking ages. I ordered the shrimp avocado salad and it was pretty good, and it would have been a lot better if my salad had more than three shrimp and a little more than slice of avocado. The entire salad was 90% lettuce! Also, they gave my friend's dinner to another table so he had to wait until they had to make another order of fajita. If they put as much effort of their food and service as they did on their interior decor this review would have been a lot higher!

Stopped by on a holiday afternoon to have lunch, a few cocktails and watch a few innings of the Phils game. Bar area was basically empty...perhaps one other couple there. Bartender was quick to ask us what we wanted but took maybe 15 minutes to receive our two margaritas. Everything was an upsell. a $8.99 margarita with a $2.50 upsell for 1800 tequilla and $2.00 upsell for contreau turned into a $13.50 margarita.......a bit out of hand if you ask me. Food took a solid 1/2 hr, no biggie as we were watching the Phils and talking. I ordered the Chipotle chicken quesadillas and found them to be delicious. The Warden ordered the 3 street tacos and found them to be simply average. My overall opinion is that it is EXTREMELY overpriced for certain items and average for others. You'll get no bargains here, but found the ambiance to be fairly endearing.

I've been here a few times now. The service is typically pretty good and I have not had any problems with the food. Restrooms are very clean. Staff friendliness has always been very professional. The last few times I've been here it has been rather empty. It's a little shocking that on Saturday it was empty. Today I tried the beef tips enchiladas. Not bad. The entire meal was of ok quality, rice was a little dry. Queso was good. The creme sauce for the enchiladas was bland and had zero taste - so more of a waste of calories. Today had no wow factor other than the waitress and her desire to provide excellent customer service. She kept my drink filled and our chips stocked. She is likely why I feel the score is a three.

Been there twice now and just not happy with the food or margaritas. The fajitas really lacked flavor, the burritos were bland and there was nothing extraordinary about any of the four dishes we tried. The guac was good and fresh, but the chips were not very authentic. The service was actually very good, prompt and eager to please. I have had three very good waitresses there. The staff was accommodating, the manager stopped by to check on us, so no complaints about the people. The margarita had too much simple syrup and was way too sugary. Nothing worse than bland Mexican food. Too bad.

Pretty standard "chain" Mexican food. Not sure why people are expecting this place to offer an authentic Mexican experience. You are eating at a restaurant in a shopping center in Collegeville, PA for crying out loud. Food was average. Drinks seemed a little watered down but I'm usually someone who likes them strong. I was here during the evening rush and service was fast and friendly. Other than that price was decent. This place doesn't do anything outstanding but at the same time they don't do anything terrible either. I'll definitely be back.

    (5)
  • Leslie K.

Food is average at best. This could be because it's new? But mostly cuz it's a Mexican food chain in PA. No hate, but when I think of authentic & yummy Mexican Food- it's not this. The queso was super watery, the beef street tacos are flavorless & do not come with rice & beans - but do come with a HALF a wedge of lime. The chips are eh & the salsa is from a jar. & I had to ask for extra sugar several times because the waitress would only bring 2 or 3 at a time. If authentic isn't your thing - go for it.

  • Alan J.

This place has the potential of being a great little Mexican restaurant in Collegeville but they need to completely revamp the kitchen. The staff is very nice and considerate. The atmosphere is good, drinks are OK, chip and salsa are great - but it ends there! The food is horrible. The enchiladas were tasteless and greasy. The fajitas were terrible, The beef was stringy, the chicken was cold and the shrimp was unremarkable. The tortilla came glued together and were uneatable . I would only go back but if they completely changed the cook staff & management. On the Border, Don Pablos and even Chili's is much better.

Horrible service. We've been to the Margarita's in Lansdale MANY times. We were in the area so we decided to try this Margarita's. We've never cared for the food at Margarita's - it's some of the worst Mexican food we've ever had, however, the margarita's and atmosphere have always been fun. NOT the case at the Collegeville Margarita's. The bar staff was AWFUL!! No energy, no customer service, no fun. We sat at the bar and were basically ignored, even though there were 5 people behind the bar! We finally ordered margarita's and they were good.....we then ordered a beer but never got it so we asked to cash out and left. We will NEVER go back.

Oh man, we came here several months ago when they first opened and I really enjoyed my meal! I ate way too much! We are back again and I ordered Mexican flag again and sorry to say it was really mediocre :-(. There was so much cheese on the plate I couldn't find the food! The chicken was tough and the rice was extra crunchy. On the other hand Mom enjoyed her chicken fajitas. The chicken was tasty although the veggies were a bit weak. The wine selection is bad. I think next time I'll head back to Los Aztecs in Pottstown. BYOB. That place is awesome and much closer to home.

  • Neil K.

I ordered what was supposedly there most popular appetizer, only to find out it is some cheese wiz with some vegetables (the stuff you find in pats&genos steaks, not the good stuff though). I ended up sprinkling some hot sauce in it, didn't help much. For the entree, I ordered the Mexican flag dish, it looked more appetizing on the picture, I might of actually enjoyed eating the picture itself more. Too much cheese, seems as if they're trying to compensate for the lack of spices involved when it comes to a Mexican dish. Drive to king of prussia and go to chipotle, or wegmans and buy some cheese and pre cooked chicken breast.

service: terrible. food: ok. price: expensive. we were there at 330p on a thursday when no one was there. food still took forever. and how many times do i have to ask for a coke refill before the waiter starts to assume anticipate my wanting a refill? cmon. wont be going back.

I decided to give this place a try and I was extremely disappointed. The food was not that good - not terrible, but nothing special. Service was very lacking and it seemed like our waitress disappeared for long periods. Margaritas were decent. It's also overpriced for what you get. So I see no reason to go back, when I could get a better meal for less at other places.

    (2)
  • Breanna P.

The drink was good but the food was bland. The carne asada was very tough. The clientele was awful. It was very loud and many tables were drunk and obnoxious and spoke loudly about sex life and continued to dollar at an older woman who was attractive. While they cannot help the clientele, the experince was bad and I would not go back.

For how busy this place has been, I thought it would be good. My boyfriend and I were very disappointed. The decor was nice. Salsa was terrible... tasted like it was out of a jar and not a good jar of salsa. Chips were okay, but nothing special. I ordered guacamole and it was boring and had too many onions. My boyfriend ordered the cheese queso dip and I tried it... it was gross, tasted very cheap... like a canned or velveta cheese. I've had better cheese dip from the grocery store. Ordered a beef taco and a cheese enchilada. The taco was fine. I ordered the red sauce for the enchilada, but it was brown and tasted like taco seasoning... like they took a package from the store, added water and called it enchilada sauce. They used a decent quality cheese for the enchilada, I'm guessing cheddar, but it was greasy... I would had preferred Mexican cheese. They claim things are made fresh, but it did not taste that way to me. Generic food. Waitress was friendly, but the service was so slow. If you needed something, you were in for a wait for the waitress to return. I did not have silverware and had to ask for it twice. I actually left hungry since I did not eat much of the food. I hardly touched the salsa and guacamole, and I only picked at the enchilada. Only thing I actually ate and finished was the taco. I understand it is a chain and I was not expecting authentic, but I expected much better. I will not return any time soon.

We sat in the lounge area and the service was painfully slow. The waitress forgot to bring menus and then proceeded to ask us for our order. I asked 3 times for a glass of water and got it at the end of my meal. The margaritas tasted good but we ordered them frozen and they were blended poorly so there were a lot of ice chunks making it difficult to drink. Finally, it is a brand new building but it rained during our dinner and the ceiling dripped onto the table. Apparently there's a leak in the roof? Also, the food and drinks seem overpriced in general. We each had 1 margarita and a mid priced entree and the bill was $50. Good food, but definitely only good for a treat and not a regular place to eat.

Husband and I stopped here on a whim. I sat at table after ordering, looked at reviews and got nervous. No reason, everything was outstanding! They give you a free bowl of tortillas with a delicious, flavorful, and spicy salsa. I ordered the chicken chimichanga....absolutely the best thing on the menu, if you ask me. Taco's were ok. When we got done, my husband and I felt like we had a food high.....awesome!!!!

Had high expectations, but was let down for the second time. The food was average for a Mexican chain restaurant, but the service was horrible. Slow to take drink order...slow to bring them out. It was about 30 minutes to order food and at least 40-45 more before our food arrived. Was there for an hour and 45 mins for mediocre food. If you have kids and want average Mexican, make sure their DS' and iPhones are charged!!!

We came to the restaurant on 8/3/2014 with our entire family (our immediate family and in-laws). They were out of everything from apple juice to beer to kids meals. Then the waiter opens with telling us whatever you want we can prepare it for you bc we make it fresh and then the waiter tells us the shrimp is pre-prepared with beer battered crust so we cannot have the shrimp just grilled. (Fish taco dinner) The sever then tells us that the manager will come and talk to us, bc we waited for about 30 minutes for a drink that never came bc they were once again out of it. He never did come over, He did walk by and glance at our table. So I got up and walked to the hostess stand and I approached him with our concerns. First he said there was nothing to apologize for besides the fact that they were out of a Kids meal we requested. That he was in the process of ordering it now???? Instead of coming to our table to show GOOD customer service, he was busy ordering food for the restaurant? He was SO rude and had the worse customer service. We actually left before we ate bc he was so rude! This restaurant has good potential if it wasn't for awful management! Lack of food and customer service is all due to the management, this restaurant will continue to have bad reviews and will most likely not last if they don't change the management! I have only had one other experience before with them and the food was great. Too bad I will never bring my family there again. Should have went to red robin!

Ambience was nice, margarita was ok, but the Mexican Flag dish was maybe the first bad Mexican food I eved had. Cheese all over, the pork was fatty (not shredded), raw onions on the rice, black beans undercooked. They did have good tortillas and salsa. Server was asking about dessert before we were finished, brought the check in a hurry. I'm really not picky but this was not good. I doubt I will return. 3 stars feels a little generous. This is chain dining at its worst.

I want to first say that the bartenders were great! I should have eaten there but waited for my table.Unfortunately, I'm writing my first review because of a really bad dining experience. 7 waiters/waitresses walked around completely ignoring us. After waiting for 15 minutes, I had to complain to the hostess. The owner or manager noticed and said he would get a server right away. Another 5 minutes go by, we get the chips and told that our server is Jess. The same person notices that we haven't gotten served and Jim comes to serve us. A different manager comes to apologize saying Jess is mad at him and we should let him know if there is anything he can do for us. He was actually one of the folks who walked by and didn't see us fuming at our table. The food is extra delayed where Jim comes to apologize twice. On top of it, it was the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I'm never coming again. It you're looking for a better Mexican place I recommend plaza azteca in KOP or norristown- should have gone there. In addition, it's expensive.

Worst service I have ever had last night. This is the 2nd time it was bad but since they were new and we like the food usually we keep coming back but I think this will be the last time. Friends of ours brought us there as a thank you so I could not fully complain or it would have ruined it for them but our waitress was so awful, Everything in our order was wrong -my son's tacos were ordered just beef and cheese and came out with everything in them when we told her she blamed the kitchen - well why didn't she check them? No apology either. Our guacamole appetizer was brought out after our meal and when I told her politely she should remove it from the check she tried to remove it from the table once we had eaten it! Then I ordered shrimp and steak fajitas and got steak and chicken and said I didn't want to return it so as not to make others wait for me to eat she said well those are cheaper so I you saved money! Also the steak was so full of gristle I could not even chew it! We had to ask for everything no do you need water or checking back. The waitress never said she was sorry and took no accountability blamed it all on the kitchen which could also use an overhaul if they are this bad. We only tipped her because our friends paid the bill and we wanted to contribute but she was THE WORST I have ever had and the food was not very good either. This was supposed to be a celebration and this waitress ruined it for us. They really need to hire some good experienced staff or at least some who care about service. If not they won't be around long.
