I always get the spicy tuna roll, never dissatisfied. The best sushi in Montco and Chesco as far as I'm concerned. Great deals, specials, and ByOB is a great plus. Ambience is perfect and cordial.

I got the sweet potato roll, Spicy Girl roll and Godzilla roll. My husband got Yakitori noodles. He said they were salty, but overall liked the flavor. The Godzilla roll and Spicy Girl were delicious. I have had better sweet potato rolls. Overall, seems like a tasty and safe bet.

This restaurant is in a mall, but it looks a lot more sophisticated on the inside with very high ceilings and modern decor. It's a BYOB, which is always a plus! The service is very professional, and very good. Our food was all very good too. I ordered some specialty rolls, including the volcano roll, pink lady and spicy girl. They were not slathered in a lot of sweet sauce, which you can find all to often in many sushi restaurants. They did put sauce on top of some of them but it wasn't overpowering. The fish seemed very fresh, which of course is important in a sushi place.

This is my favorite sushi spot in Collegeville (or even surrounding Collegeville). The decor is great, I always love sitting in there. The blue lights give it a great vibe. Each roll I have tried is fantastic. Their shrimp tempura, which is a roll I always try everywhere, is the best I've had. I also definitely recommend the rock shrimp!! It's fried shrimp in a sweet white sauce. The gyoza is also good if you like dumpling type things. I tried the Godzilla roll and loved it! It's a little spicy and fried on the outside. You can't really go wrong with any of their food. For desert, you need to try the fried red bean ice cream. It is the best I've ever had. The staff is very attentive and welcoming. I would recommend this place to anyone. We went here for a birthday dinner and the staff even sang happy birthday! It was so sweet! Even though this is a sushi place, the other Asian food is good, too! The chicken pad Thai is so good and there's no good Thai in collegeville.

The decor was sleek, modern, and well put together. The service was quick. The menu is well organized, and even has a raw and cooked sushi page. We ordered a miso soup and spring rolls for an app. The spring rolls were super crispy and flaky with a duck sauce that seemed to have a hint of siracha, I loved the combo. We also ordered a sweet potato, spider, and party roll. All of them were jam packed and tightly rolled. The rice is what set this part apart from other sushi places, it was super light yet sticky. I would recommended this place for sushi in Collegeville for sure... the place is clean, the service was excellent, and the sushi was fantastic.

I was so impressed when I stopped in last night 07.17.15. The restaurant isn't large, which I really enjoyed. By having a smaller establishment, it made it feel more intimate. I chose to sit at the "bar" ( it's BYOB ) I would HIGHLY recommend sitting there provided you have the chance. I was able to watch the sushi masters go to work! They had a clear glass display so that you were able to watch them prepare the yummy food. It was such a cool experience. The portion sizing were much larger than what I'm used to at other places. I ordered a lychee iced tea ($4.50) & although I thought it was overpriced, it was DELICIOUS. You should stop reading this & head over ... RIGHT NOW!

Really great sushi... Felt the yakitori appetizer (teriyaki chix skewer) could have been a bit more substantial for 6$. Other then that though we split 4 specialty rolls between the two of us and they were all phenomenal. New york, Godzilla, ocean and green hornet. Posting a picture of the platter. Excellent will be back.

I can't believe I haven't rated this before. For years we've been coming to Kumo and it has been consistently good each time! Always a crowd pleaser, the wait staff are so nice, the sushi is delicious, and the atmosphere is relaxed. BYOB so bring whatever you want-they are always accommodating to whatever you may need (beer glasses, wine glasses, openers, buckets). Delicious sushi! My number one local spot for sushi.

We went to Kumo before a movie at the movie tavern. We always look forward to good sushi and in the philly area there is no shortage of good sushi places. I made reservations on a Monday night which didnt need to happen. The place was empty at 6pm. The ambiance is decent, the place is small but clean. We started out with edamame and tuna tartare. The edamame was good and the tuna tartare was decent as well. We got 6 rolls total for dinner. The other couple we ate with seemed to enjoy their 3 rolls. We had the sweet heart roll, volcano roll, and bermuda triangle roll. The sweet heart roll was very good. It was fresh and had good flavor. The volcano roll was ok. The chili sauce on it was overpowering and the spicy salmon was just ok. The bermuda triangle roll was not good. The octopus in the roll was so chewy it was almost inedible. We ended up not finishing the volcano roll or bermuda triangle roll as it just wasnt worth it. Overall the service was just ok and the rolls we had were all around average. We will give Kumo a second chance but wont get the same rolls. With all the good reviews maybe we just went on a bad night.

I've been to Kumo on two occasions now and it has not disappointed! The interior decor is gorgeous! Contemporary inspired interior with splashes of beautiful lighting throughout the establishment make it a truly comfortable and intimate space. The sushi is fantastic! My favorite is the Golden Frame Roll which has crunchy spicy salmon topping and is filled with king crab meat and avocado as well as mango and it has a sweet chili sauce. The mango is the perfect touch and just bursts with flavor! Prices are moderate as well it looks like they have some great lunch specials. Definitely worth it!

In Pennsylvania, so far, this is as good as it gets. Finding sushi after moving to Reading has been impossible. And though this is a good 45 minutes east of Reading, it's closer than my regular spot on the Jersey shore where I hail from. The place is spotless, staff is unbelievably friendly and accommodating. The selection of hand rolls is excellent, and each roll we had was outstanding - plating was beautiful, was fresh, and wished there was more (portions were fine, just greedy here). Only wish they could sub for brown rice, but with the flavors and presentation so on point, I'll take what I can get, and I can't WAIT to go back. If you're in the area or at that shopping plaza, just go here - you won't regret it. They'll seat you at the bar for a meal if their tables are full (brownie points).

My favorite sushi place! Spicy Girl Roll and Salmon/Avocado is my standing order. Occasionally I get Uni when they have it and it is so fresh. Definitely recommend.

Good service is good business. I admit I was surprised by the number of highly rated reviews for Kumo Sushi & Asian Bistro. Perhaps, there are a lot of people in this area who haven't had good sushi, or maybe I missed something. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was almost full with what appeared to be the entire staff working. I could (possibly) understand receiving mediocre food on a Tuesday when the main chef has the day off, but that wasn't the case. The seaweed salad was good, but everything else was bland and boring. The decor here is fluky too. They seemed to be going for a SOHO motif, of sorts, with the vibe of industrial blue neon glass and metal, but at the end of the day, it's still an aggrandized strip mall. The whole thing felt cold and out of place, and not in a good way. The big television that was playing a live (and bloody) boxing match was appalling considering their website says they are a "...family oriented Asian Bistro." Another strike for poor service. Sadly, the staff could not recommend vegetarian dishes, and we saw several servers leaning on the hostess desk checking their cell phones ignoring customer cues. P.F. Chang's is a two minute walk across the parking lot, and has better food at a lower cost. I try to avoid chain restaurants, but in this case, I recommend the walk.

Our team had a really great lunch here. The sushi and bento boxes were delicious and sizable. The fantastic service was the best part. We were there for a meeting with a client and the service was non intrusive and professional. Food was 3.5/4 stars. Service was 5. Well done Kumo, thank you and see you again soon.

We didn't expect much from this place. In my experience, the best sushi usually comes from the smaller, hole in the wall establishments. We tried this place and were very pleasantly surprised. The fish is so fresh, the rolls are great, the salads are awesome, and best of all, the prices are super reasonable. Even the special rolls. We come here probably once a week on average now. Love it here!

Best sushi place around (sorry Kabuki in KoP, you've been dialing it in the last year), Been there 3 times in the last 2 months and each time I am impressed with the quality/freshness of ingredients, the preparation/presentation, service and price. There is no such thing as good cheap sushi, but this arguably the best cost-effective sushi I have seen in awhile, if not ever. Every dish I've had has been a winner, including: Aga Dashi Tofu- Good amount for price, small lightly breaded sticks, instead of 2-3 big pieces (VERY HOT, but that means they bring it out FAST). Chicken Katsu - May seem simplistic, but nicely breaded and fresh chicken, sauce is tasty, but not overpowering Seafood Soup - Very tasty Oysters - Maybe not the best oysters ever, but very fresh, tasty and substantial at $11/6pcs Fairy Roll-Imagine a THICK tube of spicy salmon with a thin seaweed wrap, and NO rice, topped with a sauce and a decent amount of tobiko eggs. Very tasty and will fill you up White Tuna Sashimi - Tasty and fresh The cooked Asian food that my mother had looked solid, but I wanted only sushi that day, so I can't say for certain, she certainly enjoyed it. Its about a 20-30min drive (assuming no traffic on the notorious Rt422 corridor), otherwise I'd be there every other week. Ambiance is GREAT and I would bring a date or client there anytime, very tasteful and professional. Hope it remains here for awhile and open a branch in/near KoP.

Great sushi. It'l was very fresh and prepared quickly. One odd aspect of the restaurant is that it is BYOB, they don't serve beer or drinks because they don't have a license - which is very strange for a restaurant. I have been here previously, but never left a review. I plan to come back when in the area.

Had takeout from this place. The place looks trendy, nice decor. We ordered 3 rolls. They were smaller than my usual SoCal place, but still flavorful. Three rolls with tax ran around 30 dollars. They seemed friendly. Not sure if I would go back or try a new place when visiting family again.

Great lunch/dinner spot. My wife and mother in law got the hibachi dishes, one steak, one shrimp. We all had soup and salad before our entrees. Mother in law had a tuna roll as an appetizer. I had their deluxe sushi and sashimi plate (omakase, chef's choice). All were excellent. Wife had banana rolls with ice cream for dessert. Mother in law had fried vanilla ice cream. For the price this place sells top notch fusion food.

I was craving some sushi one night and looking for somewhere close by to order take out. I decided to try Kumo and couldn't be happier! Short wait time, the restaurant smelled amazing when I walked in and the rolls were great! I will definitely be back!

I did not expect this level of quality roll sushi in Collegeville. It was a pleasant surprise. I had lunch special sushi rolls, which was too much for me. However, I enjoyed it. I am sure I try other items soon. I hope there is a way to give 4.5 starts in the review.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Everything was really good and fresh. Try the Tokyo roll and spicy girl roll...both were delicious! Also the general tso is a healthy portion and very tasty! The service was on point and very attentive. Only giving it 4 stars bc they didn't let us substitute the dumpling soup for the miso.

Visiting my parents and find this special sushi place. Clean modern and comfortable decor, friendly efficient staff. Most importantly, the quality of food is top notch. Absolutely competitive if they were in the midtown NYC. Had ordered their udon noodles, good flavor , and the sashimi is fresh and generously sliced. Their specialty rolls were so popular that I saw the bar was full of ready orders. Nice atmosphere for casual dining. I will come back .

This place was great. As usual, I wait till the last minute for Valentine's Day Dinner. I walk in just before 7 with no reservation. Even though they were slammed busy, the squeezed us in. The place was really nice inside and comfortable. The calamari appetizer was great. The batter was different from what I expected, but it was a pleasant surprise. We got the Sushi and Sashimi for 2. It was a great portion for two and rated great. And by the way, I was not a sushi guy before this visit! I think we for a great value for money. So, why not 5 stars? Well, the waitress was really bad. She either didn't speak much English or just didn't like the talk. Either, not good assets for a waitress. I know they were busy but a felt extremely rushed, even later in the night when they slowed down. They also need to do something with the phone. Sitting in a full dinning room, I heard the phone ringing non stop the entire time we were there. Great for business, bad for diners. I will certainly be back! Hopefully next time I can give them 5 stars because they deserve it.

Fantastic sushi restaurant! I go here at least once a week. Modern decor, delicious food, & friendly staff! Everything is delicious here. They have great lunch specials as well. I recommend the spicy girl roll and green hornet roll. For appetizers get the kabobs and the yellowtail jalapeño!

The Boyfriend loves sushi, I love Chinese and we both love BYOB...Kumo was the perfect place especially since we also wanted to go to the movies (Kumo is in the same shopping center as Movie Tavern). The service was great, the food delicious, decor very nice! The Boyfriend told me that we HAVE to go back....NICE!

Just had dinner in kumo. They never let me down once. All of my friends would recommend it. They could get really crowded on the weekend . Reservation is a must if you plan to go on Friday ,Saturday . Bring your own and enjoy the freshest.

This was our first time in this Asian restaurant in Collegeville. The people next to us had the big sushi rolls that looked really really good. Our lunch was good but nothing too special. We will go back but it's not a special destination. This is an ok place for med/high/average sushi lunch specials. I thought we could've had more attention from our server.

    (3)
  • Jeff H.

relatively upscale sushi place that is constantly packed in Friday / Saturday nights. Call ahead for a reservation. The prices are a little higher than other restaurants in the area but the decor and service is great. When we want sushi this isn't our main "go-to" but it's definitely on the list when we're nearby. BYOB so grab a bottle of wine or a few beers.

  • Jacki D.

Ate here several times now. I've only tried the cooked rolls and other various dishes, so I cannot judge the raw sushi. If you order no onions in the fried rice, you will get no veggies at all. Thus, they must have a sliced up mix that they use. Thai fried rice was good, but the regular fried rice is a little bland. Cooked special rolls are very tasty and they have a large selection, which is nice. Good service. Not as good for take out as the parking lot is full from the rest of the shops and movie theater in the mini mall. Overall, good, not fabulous, but good. I would give the special rolls 4.5 stars. Everything else about 3.5 stars.

    (4)
  • Jackson L.

Pretty good I'd say. I had the sashimi platter and everything was fresh. Didn't need soy sauce and it was great. I felt a little underdressed, I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts, but it seemed like everyone else was wearing that so.

This place NEVER disappoints me. I moved a little further away but whenever I'm in the area I always eat here. Incredible, melt-in-your mouth sushi. Lovely presentations and creative special rolls. The interior is modern and stylish. Today, I ordered for takeout the Crazy Mama (special roll), the Green Hornet (recommended by some guy walking by....thanks guy!), white tuna sashimi (holy SH...), and salmon skin roll (oh YEAA). Good portion sizes and decent prices. The only thing I could complain about is times that I have ate in and have gotten unfriendly service. I can't say it was ever bad, but it just seemed to me like all of the staff didn't want us there or something. Kind of cold and indifferent. In spite of that, I just don't care enough about service when the food totally outweighs it for me.

    (5)
  • Adam F.

Hands down the best Sushi - period. Certainly the best sushi in the area and personally I believe it is the best sushi you can find. The ingredients are always fresh, the service is always on point and the prices are fair. You can't really go wrong here but I'm going to suggest you try the Tuna Madness, Ocean Roll, and the Golden Frame.

  • Nirav P.

Please delist this restaurant. They asked us to leave because for a party of 4 adults and 4 kids, who are all vegetarian, and we ordered only 12 vegetarian rolls, they said we were not ordering a minimum amount($26) only, and said it was an unpublished rule that we had to spend much more I order to eat there. The worst experience ever. After traveling to over 40 countries in the world, not once have we been asked to spend more just because the restaurant would want us to order more than we want.

I love kumo. I go here often. the sushi is great. I particularly like the caterpillar roll and the sweetheart roll. they're both awesome. I also love the atmosphere, it's very contempory. service has been good as well.

I love this place! Since moving here from Miami this is where we now enjoy sushi close to home. We love their Green Hornet roll and Party roll. We've tried many things and everything is good. We also love their Tuna Fantastic (I think that's the name) mmmmmmmm!!! Crab meat and avocado wrapped in tuna in their spicy mayo and eel sauce with tempura flakes :O

  • Ellen L.

We absolutely love Kumo. Tuna Fantastic and the Kiss are amazing appetizers. I love the Fire roll. Kumo prepared a large order for us for a party and did a great job. The owner met us when scheduled, sat with us, and made great recommendations. It was perfect.

  • Crystal D.

The sushi was decent, but the place was small the menu was really small and it just wasn't that good compared to other sushi bars. If you do decide to go I recommend the Green Hornet Roll & the Tiger Roll. My bf had the dumpling soup and he said it was like water with salt and the dumplings weren't that great. I had the ginger salad that was awesome, but who can really mess up a salad!? All in all we won't be going back!

Is it just me, or are sushi places by and large incredibly similar? It could just be me. But this one had some very familiar notes. Beautifully elegant decor (lots of familiar blues), quiet and quick service, and 2-for lunch specials. I was very happy with my friend's decision to come here, however. We had a great meal, and a pleasant dining experience. What I was surprised about was the large lunch special menu - much more than the typical 2 or 3 roll special. I didn't take a hard look at the entire thing, but there were several sushi options, and several cooked entree lunch specials as well. Sorry that I'm not exactly a fount of knowledge! It's a BYOB, which makes it a great option here out in the burbs. The sushi that we ordered was delicious, and our server was careful to clear our plates quietly and space out our courses even during lunch. While I'm not very picky about that, it was appreciated anyway. The space was really beautiful too, very calming. I liked that, once inside, you feel like you're escaping the giant beast of the Collegeville shopping center. I can easily imagine a dinner date here in my future!

  • Rob F.

Kumo never disappoints. I don't even look at the menu anymore. I just let Eric (owner) pick my appetizer and roll. I even tried Salmon Roe, which was incredible. If we're in the mood for Sushi, there is never a question of "where". It's Kumo every time.

  • Allie H.

Definitely the best sushi I have ever had! No other sushi restaurant can compare to Kumo. I have been here atleast 20 times since they have opened and have always had a great meal. Their lunch specials can not be beaten. You get a soup, salad, and either 2 or 3 rolls of your choice. I have not come across a better shrimp tempura roll. It is a great price for amazing sushi. The service is always on point and the wait is never long. I could go on forever about how amazing this place is, definitely one of my favorite restaurants.

  • Jackie G.

I've visited a few times now and have never been disappointed. In my opinion, best sushi in the area. Got the black dragon roll, fire roll, tuna madness, and my standard go-to roll...a simple yellowfin & scallion roll (my personal freshness test for any new sushi place). Great combination and my suggestion for a good diversity of flavors. Kumo...I'll be back!

  • Eric G.

Best sushi in the area hands down. Highly recommend the Caribbean roll. This has become our go to place for sushi, no where else in the area really compares. They also have an additional menu beyond just sushi and even have a cooked sushi section.

Kumo is a great dinner date! Grab your favorite bottle of wine (my personal recommendation is Sokol Blosser: Evolution) and head over to Collegeville. You won't regret it! My fiancé and I have sample just about every variety of sushi on the menu... OUT OF THIS WORLD. The chicken pad Thai is also amazing. We always share the tempura shrimp and vegetable plate. There really isn't anything bad I could say about Kumo, these guys really do a good job. The ambience is perfect as well. You almost feel like you're in New York. The thing I like the most about the overall vibe/ambience is that you can dress up as fancy or as casual as you want to, you'll never get those sideways looks you would receive from a "bougie" restaurant. I LOVE KUMO!!!!

Tried Kumo tonight and was very pleased. Edamame to start, then had the Manhattan roll and Crazy roll. The sushi was delicious. The restaurant is clean, the staff was attentive and I really dug the modern decor. I'll definitely be going back.

We have been here twice and love the sushi! Very fresh, great selections, great service. The staff is friendly and on top of their game. It is byob and they are very quick to accommodate you with glasses and ice bucket. Pricing is what you would expect, not overpriced, not discount (who wants discount sushi, ugh!) we tried a teriyaki dish this time, it was good but I'll stick to the sushi next time. Overall it's a great place for a date or a night with friends. Enjoy!

This is one of our favorite family restaurants! We have 2 teenage girls and eat here all the time. You do not have to like sushi to have a good meal here. Their veggie steamed gyoza dumplings are amazing. I always start out with clear mushroom soup as it is healthy and only costs $2. I really don't think anyone in the times we have visited has disliked their food. The servers are awesome and very accomodating. They bring us ice buckets for white wine, never complain when we need to change an order, and work as a team. BYOB to boot! Can't beat it.

This place was overpriced for what it is if that makes any sense. The service was efficient and the sushi was pretty decent. Eating here makes me miss the DC area.

Pleasantly surprised, I was expecting generic sushi and was impressed by the menu offering. Lots of different rolls, we will be coming back. The Seaweed salad was very fresh, the sushi taste was slightly above average on our first visit. Servers were very attentive and fast. Pretty cool inside, high ceilings but the seating might get a little cramped if they got really busy, but was fine for this visit. Have at it sushi lovers

How about a one-word review: Wow! OK, if you know me, when it comes to food (or wine), ONE word is never enough... So what's so great about Kumo? Well to start with, this past Friday we enjoyed the very first OMAKASE ever to be served at this several-weeks old restaurant, and that one word review above pretty much summarizes our experience. Now, a little definition of terms is probably warranted here, since most sushi lovers will probably never have had the chance to enjoy this Japanese tradition. In Japanese, "Omakase" translates to "entrust", and "omakase onegaishimasu" essentially means, "Eric-san, I'm leaving our dinner up to you." Which is exactly what we did, leaving the number of courses, fish selection, and even price almost entirely in the hands of the very personable owner of Kumo, Eric (FYI, this is his first restaurant, whereas Kumo in N. Wales, and several in NYC/CT, are owned by his friend). And as is usually the case with Omakase, Chef Eric rose to the challenge of presenting a fantastic meal of his freshest fish and most creative dishes (few if any actually appearing on the menu), with only a modicum of guidance from us ("Give me shrimp heads!", "I'm stuffed, please stop!") Kumo is conveniently located in the modern Providence Town Center outdoor mall in Collegeville (immediately off 422/29, with easy parking), which has been steadily expanding its tenants since opening in 2009. Well, move over Wegman's (and their first-ever full in-store restaurant, The Pub), there's a new kid on the block (hidden over on the right-hand side near Raymour & Flanigan Furniture), and they have way better sushi chefs than you do! As you can see from my photos, Eric treated us to an visually stunning, delicious, 8-course tour-de-force that he singlehandedly prepared at Kumo's comfortable sushi counter (featuring a couple of plasma screens, if you care). Since I had foolishly forgotten to bring a bottle of wine (I know, hard to believe!), he also treated us to a complimentary carafe of hot Saki, as a PLCB license is perhaps a year off. Since, I didn't take notes (and I got a C in Fish Taxonomy 101), this is the best I can remember: 1st plate: Deep-fried soft-shell crab, mango, onion, sweet peppers and a lightly spicy chili sauce - We specifically asked for some soft shells to be included, always a good bet at this time of year 2nd plate (plates 2-4 were served side-by-side): Oyster, uni (sea urchin), tobiko (flying fish roe) shooter - wonderfully flavorful, and my second favorite dish 3rd plate: crispy-fried white fish (?) on a bed of seaweed salad - simple, but delicious 4th plate: Pepper red tuna sashimi, spicy citrus sauce, pickled radish - delicious, but a minor point, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of crispiness in the radish, which is one of my favorite accompaniments to sushi. I wish they would make their own. 5th plate: White tuna martini - a visually striking dish, served with perfectly cooked asparagus 6th plate: Amaebi (sweet shrimp), served with deep-fried shrimp heads - Actually, the sort of shrimp used for amaebi is out of season, so someone else will have to say what sort of raw shrimp these were. And if you've never had heads, eyeballs and all, lightly coated in potato starch (another thing that you'll never see on American sushi menus), think "shrimp French fries!" 7th course: Tuna & avocado cucumber roll - Looks as good as it tastes 8th course: Yellowtail BELLY handroll, crisps, homemade soy sauce -- My fav! A traditional end to a wonderful meal. Service, with Eric focused solely on us, was of course fantastic. I should also not fail to mention that Kumo is also a strikingly designed restaurant, belying its shopping center environs (although PTC isn't exactly a strip mall). Beautiful wood tables/chairs and featuring a striking bar with blue neon lighting underneath. Later in the evening (we were there at 5PM) it would probably even be considered romantic, and certainly an nice place to take a hot date. I can't wait to come back and do a proper Omakase/BYOB dinner for our wine group sometime. Now, if you'd like to create your own version of this Omakase, a few words to the wise. According to Eric, business has been gratifyingly brisk, and it would have been impossible for him to give us this degree of attention later in the evening. So I recommend you contact Eric first and work out the details. Don't expect just to stroll in for Omakase. Finally, Omakase, showcasing as it does the best fish and most creative dishes that a chef can turn out, is often an expensive indulgence (at O Ya in Boston, one of the best places for sushi in the US, don't even ask for it if you are not willing to throw down $200 per). So what did Eric charge us? ~$65/2 people + tip (generous). I KID YOU NOT!!! If you haven't already made a res, try closing your eyes first (that way the shrimp heads don't appear to stare at you). Sláinte!

Popped in for a quick lunch solo. After a stressful morning at work I though some sushi would perk me up. I was right. They have a great lunch special. You can choose from 2 or 3 rolls with a salad and miso soup. It was 9.50 and 11.50 respectively. I ordered spicy tuna, eel and avocado, and shrimp tempura. The salad and soup arrived. The dressing was nice, not overly gingery. And the miso soup was pretty standard. My rolls arrived and I dug in. The spicy tuna was good, not the best I've ever had, but decent. The eel was good and you can never go wrong with shrimp tempura. But honestly how do you cram the huge end pieces in your mouth and still look classy? I was pleased with the service and value. I would love to go back for dinner and bring some wine.

Such a great lunch special! Their hand rolls are delicious, but their special rolls are even better. The Spicy Girl roll is outstanding, and they don't skimp on the Tobiko. The rolls are tight enough that you can take bites out of them without them falling apart. And the salad was served ice cold in a chilled bowl, with a sweet ginger dressing. Very refreshing start to the meal! Excellent service and fair prices. 10/10 would return.

i've had both five star and two star dishes from kumo. hear me out here. kumo can bring you either a delightful and intriguing meal or a mediocre and over-priced one; in truth it is all in what you order. many of the entrees and appetizers from the chef come out at room temperature with little in the taste category. yet others come out perfectly temperate and delectably flavored. the sushi bar is more consistentto an extent but may also present relative bores of dishes. you almost have to be a regular or have a regular's opinion to extract the most pleasure from your experience. personally, if i were looking to have a combination i knew that i'd adore, i'd begin with the miso soup and the harumaki and finish with a roll of any of the cooked variety. btw, both the iced lychee tea and the jasmine tea are grand.

Very nice ambience, very good sushi selection. The rolls are a good size not the inky-dinky ones you get at some places. It is a BYO which is a definite plus. Although it was a little bit of a hike to Collegeville, it was worth it! A must do again. Fairly inexpensive. Could not do the chef selection as it was quite busy

Went there last night without reservations (5:30) boy did we hit it right, shortly after the place filled up with people waiting. Our challenge is my Husband doesn't care for sushi but likes most other asian but my son is my sushi buddy. So kumo gave my husband more than just teriyaki and he was happy. Miso: extremely tasty and would definitely order it again and again and agan. Dumpling soup: 3 dumplings and a spiced broth my son enjoyed it. Gyoza: Good, light crisp on the outside, wish the filling was a bit firmer but the taste was good. Generals Chicken: Not as spicy as it's chinese counterpart but light and crispy and husband was happy. He even ate the broccolli and this guy doesnt do veggies. Boston Roll: solid and tasty Angel Roll: again tasty Spider roll: only uses 1/2 crab while it was good I have had better. Party Roll: had mango and a mango sauce on it while tasty very different not sure I would order it again but a we tried something different. Very pretty roll with a nice little bite that didnt overpower and the star was the Black Dragon Roll it was awesome fresh, filling and perfect balance oh I could have ordered more of that. I will definitely be back with my sushi buddy and oh ok I will bring the husband too.

Sloppy Maki/Sushi but good Chinese. I am always excited to see a new restaurant open in the area, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find this place when we went to the shopping plaza last weekend. We were there around 6:30 on a Saturday, and the place was packed with people. Luckily we got seated within 15 minutes, and we got our orders placed pretty much right away. The appetizer stir-fried shrimp was delicious, and the salad with ginger dressing was refreshing, although they didn't dry out the greens after rinsing, so the salad was very watery. We ordered 2 specialty rolls, and the first word that came to mind when I saw and tasted them was "sloppy". I've eaten a lot of sushi, and these just didn't look that great, and they were not made very well; and I didn't find the ingredients up to par with other sushi I have had. And the rolls were not cut into equal sizes (I know this is picky, but hey, other places cut them evenly, so why can't they?) One of the rolls tasted pretty good, but the other roll I got (wrapped in cucumber) was not interesting at all. It was bland and watery. Without any rice in the roll, the fish had to be outstanding, and they weren't. The Chinese stir-fry of chicken with string beans (with shitake mushrooms too) was actually quite delicious, even so as leftovers. I'd definitely come here for the Chinese again, but I think I'll pass on Sushi. Osaka in Lansdale probably as the best sushi that I know of. Oh, and the decor is a little weird... I think if they left the art off the wall, then the restaurant may look a little more sophisticated. But this is the least of the problems.

Would really like to give more than three stars, but I got a piece of tuna sushi that was off. In fact, I don't recommend their sushi (nigiri). We had Salmon, Tuna, White Tuna, Mackerel and Yellowtail. None of them were memorable, except the tuna, which was memorable in a bad way. I actually had to spit it out. The rolls were excellent though, and the restaurant looked very nice. We had the Green hornet, party roll and I think Dynamite? roll. Service was also excellent, I ordered out, had selected items from a similarly named place, and they even let me order off menu.

I stayed at the hotel across the street I was happy to find this fancy looking Japanese restaurant in the Providence Town Center along Arcola Rd. After a long drive I just wanted to grab some sushi to go. I called them to place an order went over to pick up after 15 minutes. The restaurant was beautifully decorated it had a cool vibe, very loungey and trendy. I was surprised to find such a restaurant in the area. My escolar and yellow fin tuna sashimis were very fresh and of higher grade than most cheap Jap places. The AK-47 roll was also good. The uni sushi was also fresh and flavorful. Generous portion of seaweed salad. I was very satisfied with the dinner I would definitely go back! It's a really nice place that's worth dining in.

Great place, service is friendly, it's BYOB, and prices are fair. Have to try "lady gaga" roll... It's not on the menu, but they consistently have it on their special menu. I order take out weekly and the quality is never compromised.

I agree with Julie B great lunch special love the Shrimp Tempura Roll but it would be nice if the Kani salad to go was the same size as the eat in since it is the same price

  • Julie B.

Kumo has very good sushi. The rolls are always fresh. I work across the street, so I usually get lunch take out about once a week. Their lunch menu is great because you can get three rolls, soup and salad for only $11.50. I would have given this 5 stars, but my only complaint is if you order take out Kani salad to go, it comes in a tiny salad container that they only fill a quarter full. I've eaten in and ordered a Kani salad and it's a good sized portion. Take out Kani salads are always a quarter of that size and yet are still $6. Other than that their staff is friendly. The atmosphere is also good. It is BYOB.

This new Pan-Asian bistro in Collegeville is sleek and modern. Creative sushi rolls are beautiful and delicious. The sushi lunch special is a great deal which offers ample opportunity to sample a number of rolls at a discounted price. The Pink Lady and Sweetheart rolls are particularly good, as are the AK47 and Spicy Girl. The Fire roll is a bit of a disappointment, as with a name like that you expect a kick. But it's a good place for a birthday celebration as they will surprise you with a bowl of ice cream with a candle for dessert. . . a very nice touch.

After seeing the sign on the building a few weeks ago, I was excited to see a new Asian restaurant coming to the Collegeville area. It didn't appear to be open at the time, but a sign right off 422 now proclaims, "Now Open!" I had to give it a try. I'm glad I did! The Philadelphia roll and Spicy Tuna roll were really good. I went during lunch (ends at 3pm) and had a two sushi roll lunch deal (comes with a delicious miso and salad). I also shared a Party Roll which was all sorts of deliciousness. The decor of this place is also amazing! It's very modern and reminds me of Room Service in NYC (no giant chandelier here, though!) I would definitely consider going back!

Have sushi twice a week. First time here.....excellent speciality rolls in particular the sweetheart roll. Seaweed salad excellent. Calamari excellent...atmosphere very Manhattan like decor. When in collegeville will most definitely go back.

We adore Kumo! I have a 6 year old sushi fanatic and Kumo is his favorite place. Granted, my kids are complete foodies and know how to behave in a restaurant, but I love that they don't bat an eye when we walk in with two small kids and they even remember not to 'insult' the 6 year old by bringing him kiddie chopsticks. I dare you to try and get your water glass less than half full! The service is only eclipsed by the fresh and plentiful sushi. Hooray for awesome sushi in the suburbs!

Food is absolutely wonderful and the prices are very decent for the quality. I have had a difficult time finding decent Japanese food close to me since moving from California but Kumo does the trick. Highly recommended.

I just went there today at 530 and this was my second time. The first time was Valentines Day. The service the first time i was there was so slow but the food was so good, so I knew I had to give them a second chance. If you are crazy enough to go out on Valentines day you really should expect that! This food is amazing! I ordered same as last time the shrimp shumai, rainbow roll, and the caterpillar roll. I can't stop thinking about it! It starts to really fill up after 6, so if you can't make reservations get there before. The servers are all sweet and very attentive. Your glass of water will never hit the middle of the glass. The decor is beautiful, modern, and clean. Give them a shot and the cool thing is that they are located in a huge fun shopping center!

The best sushi place around. I come here for lunch regularly. The rolls are nice and fat. The fish is fresh. Just perfect. Pricey, but they have pretty reasonably lunch specials. I always get the 3 rolls with a side soup and salad!

My lunch hour experience this summer was tainted by a large party of Japanese (at least 20) in the back room who consumed 95% of my waitress' time and attention. I waited for 10 minutes to get water and a menu and, after ordering, another 15 to get my soup. I could see she was yacking it up with the folks at the big table and ignoring me and all others in her charge. Even the sushi maker was becoming impatient by the collection of undelivered fare clogging up his counter. I'll give two stars as service could have been significantly better and my rolls that sat for 20 minutes were room temperature rather than chilled. Without the competition from her community and the frustration of sitting through a 75-minute lunch, I would have graded higher. I assume that the Kumo on Bethlehem Pike in the English Village Center is somehow related and give them fives stars for value, quality and service. Collegeville Kumo - get your act together!

Let me start out by saying omg this place is awesome. I love sushi and I have had it all over but never have I had sushi as fresh as this. Now I have only had a couple rolls from here but they were the best I have ever tasted. The service was a little slow but I think they were just getting aclimated to the volume of people that were in the restaurant that night. The place is blue and the decor is very modern. The prices are good especially the lunch menu. If you are looking for a good sushi place this is definetely the place to try. Fresh and full of flavor. Best sushi I have ever had by far.

I've been to kumo twice now. The first time was a few weeks after it opened on a Saturday afternoon. I got the spicy maki platter and really liked it. The second time I went was on my birthday about a month later. It was a Monday evening. We sat at the sushi bar and I asked the waitress about omakase and she had no idea what I was talking about. It's a HUGE red flag if the waitress at a sushi place doesn't know what omakase is. Anyway, after an awkward exchange, I got the sushi deluxe dinner. Major disappointment. The fish was terrible and the sushi was shabbily built. If I were to go back, I would only get maki rolls, they seem to be their strong suit. Also, I would never go again during the week. They seem to be on their a-game on the weekends.

My husband and I will travel far and wide in the tri state area for a GOOD sushi and excellent meal. This place is wonderful. We ordered the California roll, Alaska Roll and Tuna Roll with Scallions. The rolls were small but the ingredients were a fantastic quality. My husbands Alaska Roll did not have the 'bite" he expected. That was our only issue with the sushi. The salad was crisp and the ginger dressing was sweet and light. My husband is very picky about salmon he will eat and he had the Salmon Teryaki. It was fresh and coated with a wonderful tangy sauce and was placed on a crisp bed of sauteed vegetables. It was FABULOUS. I had the Shrimp Pad Thai and all I can say is WOW! The service was phenominal and our water glasses were never half empty. The decor was has an interesting array of textures and give a very NY feel to Collegeville. New favorite

Kumo is a must for anyone wanting great fresh sushi! The overall experience is 5 stars! The decor has a modern, fresh, stylish appeal. It is both relaxing and has a bit of energy. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. The sushi chefs were extraordinary. The food presentation was outstanding, not overdone nor cliche. The food was excellent. The portions were appropriate to generous, the quality absolutely a high for this area! Kumo is our new favorite!

Glad to see a good sushi place make it's way to the PTC shopping center. Stopped in here for lunch today to give the place a try. The decor is quite nice inside giving it a more upscale look and feel to the place. I was the first one in there for lunch. Service was excellent, with someone always coming by to refill my water glass, even though it wasn't even half empty. I went with the lunch special which allows you to select either 2 or 3 rolls from a pre-defined selection and includes miso soup and a ginger salad. For $10-12 dollars, I thought this was a good deal. I'm a basic sushi eater, so I went with the California Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and the Salmon Avocado Roll. All three were fresh and delicious. The place offers countertop/bar seating, table seating, and even has a few tables outside. Would be nice if they offered free WiFi, but they currently do not. I will definitely be going back soon!

My mother and I went here for dinner. The atmosphere is very clean white modern, with fish accents. There was a nice selection of food, all the items we got were good (spring rolls, sashimi, edamame) the dessert didn't have the nice crust of sugar I was expecting on the creme brule but it was still good.

So we were looking for a sushi place that we've never been to in the KoP area, so I checked out Yelp and there was Kumo. Although very few reviews because it recently opened, but a very high rating nonetheless. We arrived without reservations and were seated right away... the decor is very modern and clean with a very open atmosphere. I have to admit the blue lit glass wall in the middle of the room was really cool. We started out with an avocado salad and a seaweed salad. The seaweed salad was fresh, not overly dressed and had the right amount of ingredients, so I was very pleased. The avocado salad had some big shoes to fill with the awesome avocado salad I've had at Kabuki in KoP and it was very similar. A whole avocado on top of some lettuce and cucumbers were a perfect start to the meal. Unlike other places, they give the dressing on the side (which was also tasty), so we liked how we could control the amount and really enjoy the taste of the avocado. From there we dove right in - four rolls (yes we were hungry) and here are the details of each: Tokyo Island .... This came out first on a very nice dish with a dressed salad in the middle. Fresh cucumber, extremely fresh sushi and a no-rice roll made it a great second course. I was surprised it didn't come with ginger or wasabi, but the ponzu on it was great... I will definitely order again. Spicy Girl .... This roll had a hint of spice and wasn't as powerful as the Spicy Girl rolls I've had in the past. Tasty and fresh, it was a nice roll, but nothing special to write home about. It was also VERY similar to the Sweetheart roll, so I would order it again, but not in conjunction with the Sweetheart roll. Overall, it really lacked flavor (but I of course loaded it up with wasabi and it was great). Sweetheart Roll .... Too similar to the Spicy Girl, this roll also was fresh and tasty, but nothing spectacular to write home about. Green Hornet .... The all-star of the bunch. Highly recommended by the waitress, this was fresh, tasty, flavorful, and just a delight. The lobster salad on the top totally made the roll and the crispy crab flakes on the top were not just decorative, but delicious. Conclusion: A 4-star rating... the service was great, the food came out very fast and 2 of 4 rolls were awesome with the other two ok, but nothing to brag about. The place would be a 5-star rating if the other two rolls were as awesome as the Green Hornet and Tokyo Island. I will definitely go back as there are a few other special rolls I would like to try.

Trendy and very cool new sushi spot in Collegeville. I went there upon recommendation of my daughter who thinks this place is the bomb and found out she is pretty well on the mark. The service couldn't have been much better. I think our waitress asked to fill our water glasses at least ten times. The sushi offerings are creative and very fresh. I really liked the decor - kind of upscale and trendy. My only complaint is that I was served hot green tea in a mug that was never intended for hot beverages. I had to hold it with my napkin so I wouldn't burn my hands, but hey, at least it was hot.

Absolutely incredible sushi; better than any of the more-talked about Center City places. A must go for anyone who even kind-of likes sushi. One of the best additions to the suburban Philadelphia restaurant scene in a long, long time.

Simply put this is the best Japanese sushi/cuisine you'll find in the area. Had two specialty rolls and the rock shrimp ap. The service was excellent too. It takes a lot for me to give a any place a 5 star rating but they definitely earned it.

Made reservations on a Saturday night just to get sat in the middle of the room near a birthday party. Had to be asked to be moved to a more private table. Very loud atmosphere. Waitress never bothered to check on us after our meal was served and once we got her attention because we needed something, she disappeared and took forever to get back. She said she forgot about us. Host cracked opened and drank a beer. We ordered 4 different sushi rolls and they all tasted the same. Not worth it at all. Too many other great sushi places in the area.

Love, love , love this place. Best sushi in the area. Friendly servers, nice clean atmosphere and awesome food. Kani salad is good but the Tuna Fantastic was out of this world. I just love their Party Roll. I get it every time I go. I want to try something else but I love this roll and just have to have it every time I go. It is light, sweet and very tasty. No complaints at all. A definite must try if you haven't already.
