This place has one of the best examples of a pizza that you would only experience in Italy. The place has a decent setup as far as decor. But for me, if the food is good, it wins in my book. Just ordered a margarita pizza. They have a nice dome pizza oven that you would see in Italy. A few minutes, it on your table. The sauce has a nice tang with the fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh basil. I can't stop eating it. I haven't tried anything else yet since they do have more than pizza. Some people near us ordered some pasta and somehow that made me hungry even after stuff myself with that pizza. Cant wait to try the rest of the menu, but it'll be tough with that pizza being served there.

Just had a great experience. Food was fresh, cooked perfectly and service was exceptional!! Zach, Denise and Cierro made our evening one to remember. Everyone was so attentive from the minute we walked in. I can not wait to return!!'

Just had my third visit in four weeks, and as before we had the best pizza and service. Wish it weren't a 35 minute drive, but it is well worth it. There were seven adults and two kids, and we polished off seven pies and a plate of calamari, which was crisp and light and very tasty. We had seven different varieties and didn't have a bad one in the bunch. We could have been fine with six pies, but we shoveled it all down. Outstanding!

Went here for dinner and had appetizers and the pasta, not the pizza everyone is raving about. The appetizers, fried mozzarella and the bruschetta, were excellent. I completely recommend both items. The bread and salads which come with the entrees were ok, nothing to write home about and considering the Collegeville Bakery is down the street selling great bread they may want to reconsider their supplier. My pasta dish, Flounder Portifino was bland. I really wanted this to be a flavorful dish but it wasn't. My husband got Rigatoni a la Vodka which was good. Overall a decent meal, and I will come back to try the pizza, but for now I have to say the pasta dishes we friend were below my expectations based on some of the other reviews.

Delicious Italian food. The red sauce is authentic tasting. The bonus to the place is its a BYOB! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. It's a good sign when the chef approaches the tables and asks if you are pleased with the food. Great prices for good quality food and large portions. We will be back!

It was ok. nothing special for sure. Three couples went. Ordered different entrees. Nobody really thought it was that great. After the the reviews I was expecting more and sorry I suggested it.

Great new Italian spot. Pizza was made right in front of us in a wood burning oven. Everything was fresh and delicious. We came in right before close but they seated us and were extremely friendly. Will definitely return.

Wow! Collegeville has scored with Forno Antico. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is friendly and the space is beautiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone who appreciates fresh Italian food at reasonable prices with friendly service. This place is authentic, give it a try you won't regret it.

Decided to take my wife here for dinner on a Saturday night. She studied abroad in Italy when she was in college and always raved about the pizza she ate in Napoli. She ordered the margarita pizza and said that it reminded her of the pizza she ate there! I tried the penne with vodka sauce and it was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Forno Antico is good authentic Italian food. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive (even to my 1 year old daughter). Best service in the Collegeville area without a doubt. We highly recommend! I had the portofino, which is chicken breast topped with spinach, mozzarella and crabmeat in a white wine sauce. Served with a side of penne. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Each bite literally melted right into my mouth. The dish was very smooth and delicious. My husband had a special, Sacchetti, which was stuffed mushroom pouches in blush sauce with cherry tomatoes and shrimp. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The serving size was perfect and they placed a good amount of shrimp in the dish. It was very tasty according to my husband. My 1 year old daughter had a kids meal, which they kindly cooked to order. We just requested their basic cheese ravioli with butter. My daughter seemed to love it. The ravioli was cooked to perfection! They seem to have several versions of ravioli, too. Their kids meals were priced at $5.99, which was very reasonable! I appreciated that they offered a children's menu with child portions. We opted out of purchasing a dessert but what they had available all sounded and looked amazing! They had quite the choice, as well. We ordered out once when they first opened and loved it but this was out first time eating in and it did not disappoint!

Sorry V&T I will miss your garlic knots, but we've found a new Italian restaurant to go to. Plenty of room, attentive service and the whole family was happy. Here's the run down... Burrata was great , calamari very good Agree with another reviewer on the bread, can do better Husband had the branzino and raved about it...the flavor, the crackly skin from being cooked in the pizza oven....yum We had two pizzas and lasagna, really good Meatballs were okay, but it was the sauce I really loved We're excited to return!

Stopped in for late lunch. Very good service and food. My wife and I had the pomodorini pizza with roasted tomatoes, garlic, and basil was very good. Also had the Tuscan soup. One of my favorites and will get that all the time. We also had the chicken with peppers in a pink sauce. It had great flavor and the chicken was very moist. The roasted peppers with mozzarella was great. We will definitely be back.

OK Collegeville you just got lucky! About 1 month ago Forno Antico opened. It's a wonderful Italian BYOB Restaurant at 416 E Main St near Ursinus Collage. This was our first time here so we wanted to start with the basics so the first course was the soup special Pasta Fagioli. It was very good. Then I had the Eggplant Parmigianino that was excellent. Not the usual breaded and fried Eggplant, this was fresh non breaded eggplant cooked to perfection in an extremely flavorfully San Marzano Tomato sauce. It truly was the best Eggplant Parmigianino I've ever eaten. My wife had the Lasagna which had layers of Ground Beef, Parmesan, Mozzarella and Ricotta Cheeses also done in a flavorful tomato sauce. She loved her dish as well. We were too full to have desert. They also have a Brick Pizza oven (took 5 month's to have it imported from Italy). The Pizza looked awesome. I talked to some people at a near by table and they said the Pizza was outstanding. It sure looked it. We saw that they have an Arugula & Prosciutto Pizza that I can't wait to try. The staff is also very friendly. Our waiter Sebastian (he is the son of Ciro the owner) did an excellent job. We also had a nice conversation with Ciro. All the staff was very friendly and outgoing. This will become a regular spot for us from now on.

Great new Italian restaurant just opened in Collegeville. The pizza is amazing (in the stone fired oven direct from Italy) but the entire menu is terrific. Love the BYOB. Thanks for a great afternoon, Ciro.

We were anxious to try their pizza after we had read how wonderful it was. Special brick oven that cooks a pizza in under two minutes. We were disappointed. The crust was nice and thin, but it was only crisp around the edges. Most of the crust was not at all crisp. The taste was OK though. We got a side order of meatballs since their website said they were voted the best meatballs in Phila. NOT true....not even close. They were on the hard side and we didn't like the texture at all. The red sauce was quite good though. Caesar Salad was OK and the soup was good. I am not in a hurry to return.

Food: 3-4 stars. Okay shrimp-wrapped bacon; okay bruschetta, good pizza, and richly sauced (i.e. lots of butter and oil) pastas. Service: 0 stars. We called ahead of time to ask about the BYOB policy and were told that we didn't need a reservation. We walked in at 6:00 to be told that there was a 45-minute wait, and there was not enough seating in the waiting area, so we had to stand in the middle of a hallway. We were seated at 7:30 (after an hour and a half). We placed our orders immediately, waited almost no time for our appetizers (yay!), but then still hadn't been served our entrees (or seen our server) by 8:40. By that time there were very few people in the restaurant, so the kitchen couldn't have been that busy! Once we complained, we received the entrees within minutes. We were really excited to have a more authentic Italian place in the neighborhood, but sadly we won't be returning.

Got take out here for the first time last night. Two pizzas- the Bianca, and the other half Margherita/calzone... interesting idea. The Bianca was delicious and flavorful with just the right amount of garlic. The crust was a little thick for my preference but still good. Will definitely be back.

I'm so glad we have a new option on Main St. In Collegeville. I ordered takeout, but was treated wonderfully by the entire staff, from hostess to servers. Ciro invited me to watch him make and fire our calzone/pizza thing (fede mezze luna, which was delicious, by the way) and you can tell the guy's been doing this for years and takes great pride in his work. It was my husband's birthday and he wanted meatballs, so we ordered a side of two giant meatballs in sauce. My husband was sold after one bite. They were perfect. My kids and I loved the fettuccine alfredo, which was decadently creamy, with lovely al dente noodles. We happily ate the leftovers for breakfast. I can't wait to eat my way through the rest of the menu. A very welcome addition to the area. Remember to park in the back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
