The Pocono area is famous for skiing, indoor water parks and if you're feeling lucky, try your hand at the casino. Well, you can build up quite an appetite participating in all these activities. Luckily for you if you're in the mood for decent Chinese food, look no further, East Gourmet Buffet is a perfect fit for you. Conveniently located off PA 611 and in a strip mall by the "Dollar Tree" The buffet has a nice variety for you to choose from, different selections of lo mein, fried rice, chicken wings, crab legs, sushi and the list goes on. The price is reasonable and the variety of food offered, quite delicious. The staff is very friendly and they are quick to clean up your table. Seniors and kids discounts are offered which is an added bonus! When you're done with your meal. You need to get to the soft serve ice cream station, decadently smooth and delicious ice cream, It taste just like it was dispensed from an ice cream truck. Nice clean restaurant, friendly staff and decent food. Listen, if you lost at the casino, you can at least come here and scream "Winner, Winner, East Gourmet Buffet dinner!!"

Very busy buffet . Only problem I have with the place is it gets very crowded by the food tables. Other than that, Food is really good and always fresh. Been here a couple of times and always leave satisfied. The waitresses are super nice and not tip hungry monsters like some others buffets. Highly recommend this place if your in the area.

Great place to eat for $7 for lunch! Mixture of the regular buffet dishes. Very clean and fresh! Highly recommend for a buffet! My mom and I go out for lunch here and we love it!

Worst buffet experience. Although it was cheap it was barely edible. They put out crab legs once in an hour. Causing altercations amongst the customers. Poor food and service overall. Will not be back

All you can eat sushi for $8 during their lunch hours! That, right there, is a deal! All you can eat roast beef (self-serve, so slice it as thick as you want), steamed clams (small) & so-so crab legs, plus sushi, for $12-13 during their dinner hours! Not bad! Decent chinese food selection as well, though the egg rolls are a bit soggy.

Crablegs, shrimps, ribeye, sushi, all you can eat oh my... it seems that this is a popular restaurant in the area of Bartonsville, PA. It was a bit crowded, but considering we were seated immediately, price was very resonable and food was kept warm and trays were constantly being refilled with food. Overall, a great place to take the kids for a little over indulgence.

Very good--and very popular--Chinese buffet. We went here after our trip to Great Wolf. (Which, BTW, was a reasonable trip from GWL. If you go to Great Wolf, do yourselves a favour: DON'T EAT AT GREAT WOLF LODGE.) All the usuals were there--along with oysters, shrimp, and crab legs. If you're into that alone, it seems more than worth the price. Had a decent "Chinese Buffet Sushi" sushi station. My kids, frankly, were overjoyed that they could eat a lot of french fries and sweet and sour chicken. This is because they are kids. Everything was fresh and they were constantly refilling items. Prices were reasonable, but be prepared for a wait if you arrive after 6 p.m. on the weekend. This is apparently where everyone goes in the Greater Stroudsberg Areaâ„¢ for Chinese Buffet.

We had not been to East Gourmet for quite some time and I can conclude that it was better late than never for we not only had Saturday dinner but a return visit for lunch the very next day. Quality and Quantity of food - Good. On weekend evenings (4-9pm or until they run out) lobster with scallions is available at the buffet. We arrived at around 6pm Saturday night and there was not a problem with quantity. The quality is as good as what is served at Chinese restaurants and the kitchen staff is on top of refilling the lobster. They offer a good variety of freshly made sushi. The shrimp dishes are made well. The Chinese buffet staple items (General Tso's Chicken, Lo Mein, Fried Rice, Egg Rolls) were ok though nothing to brag about. Service - Excellent. Our server cleared our empty dishes efficiently, refilled our hot tea, provided extra napkins and wipes. Many buffet servers tend to initially provide great service and after the check is paid, they disappear. Our server did not rush us out with the check and provided the same great service after the check was paid. Atmosphere - Fair. The emphasis here is value for food and not so much atmosphere. Come hungry and leave full for a very reasonable price but don't expect linen tablecloths. On a busy Saturday night, the noise level was somewhat high with the chatter of customers overwhelming the music played in the background. Value Proposition - Excellent. This restaurant is the best value proposition in the Poconos if you like Chinese food. Fortune Cookie advice for my first Yelp review: "You are about to become $12.95 poorer and 5 pounds richer."

Went here on a Saturday night. They have lobster (from 4-8 on Sat, all day on Sun), snow crab legs, different kinds of clams, and raw oysters (although, I did not try that.) all for the value of $12.99! On a weekend! At night! At lunch it is even cheaper. The seafood was fresh and cooked well, as was everything else. The ice cream is utterly spectacular. I never eat ice cream at buffets and don't really even like ice cream. Yet, I had two bowls worth of it here. They have a wide assortment of flavors such as butter pecan, cookies and cream, rainbow sherbert, coffee, as well as your typical vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, The ice cream was creamy and rich. The staff were accommodating and pleasant as well. Overall great experience and will be back again next time I'm in the area as long as they keep up the good price and quality.

Went there with fam last night...very good food overall. Lobster was nonexistent just shell and legs. Crableggs were water logged. But great value and taste overall.

We had take-out from here one time before and it was pretty good so we thought we would try the buffet. I will say we were not disappointed. We have had a hard time finding a good Americanized-Chinese food place in the Pocono's and this one was really good. There was a great selection of items and they kept everything coming out fast so things were hot and fresh. The only part that was not very good was the sushi-rolls - there did not seem to be many people eating them so they did not turn quick enough to stay fresh. Otherwise everything was very good, the service was fast and friendly and the price was very reasonable. When we have the craving this will now be our spot!

Very good chinese buffet. Large selection and food is always clean and fresh. They also do an awesome job replenishing any empty trays. I have eaten there as well as had take out and it is always very good. They also have many other items on the menu that are not just chinese cuisine which is perfect if you are bringing children along.

East Gourmet is a pretty good buffet in the Poconos. Probably the best buffet in the Poconos (there are better in Scranton and in the Lehigh Valley), they have a pretty large spread, decent sushi, and some nice variety in the food they have out there. If I have a gripe about the restaurant, the layout of the buffet bars is a bit...awkward at times. But if your complaint about a buffet is the physical layout of the buffet, then you are looking a bit too hard for things to write about. Pretty good eats, albeit Chinese buffet style.

First time there. As far as Chinese buffets go, it wasright up there with most of the ones I've been to. Would go there again.

This place is AWESOME. Came on a Friday night. Reserved a table but there still was a wait, but less than 10 mins. After eating I know why. Sushi, king crab legs, and oh who cares what else there was. Dessert too. Kids ate well, so there is something for everyone. The best place I've eaten this vacation, hands down.

This is the best Chinese buffet the Pcoonos has to offer. Everyone was excited about their grand opening in the summer of 2010, and they did not disappoint. I come here at least once a month to get my fix. The buffet offers a large variety of various cuisines, including fresh sushi, shrimp cocktail, fruit, and soups. The traditional favorites are also featured here - General Tso's Chicken, Tokyo Chicken, Fried Dumplings, Dim Sum, and so on.. Crab legs are always available for those that like to work for their food! I highly recommend giving this a taste!

Pretty much the only game in town, since their sister store New Star Buffet no longer offers a buffet. Vast selection of things on the buffet, however, some 'staples' aren't the greatest. As someone else mentioned, the layout of the buffet is alittle strange, and you're always 'running into' someone. The flow is just a little off. Can be expensive on the weekends. Overall, pretty good.

It's embarrassing how often my family goes there...let's just say more than 3x/month, but there are reasons: -Consistently good food -Affordable -Sushi..like really plentiful -Assorted seafood dishes, including king crab legs -Above par soft serve ice cream -Family friendly -Lots of tables Usually has a line on Sat night. It's worth it, a very good buffet with ample selection. The staff work really hard and are on top of things. If you arrive close to closing time you have to watch them clean up; it's a well-oiled machine in-motion. Everything happens so fast! Not the largest selection vs. some of the Allentown buffets, and maybe not the best quality of every dish vs. some other buffets but a great balance of both selection and quality PLUS it's affordable. There's a private area (not enclosed) which is good for larger groups, but that would need a reservation because the place gets busy every night! Highly recommend this place.

The food was decent. The selection was incredible. Atmosphere ehhh. If you are looking for some chinese food, but aren't sure what you want this is the place. Address listed does not get you there on a Garmin GPS or Google Navigation. Look up the Giant in Bartonsville. It is right off of I-80 as you are getting onto 611.

My wife and I got food poisoning from this place. I guess a certain amount of risk is taken when eating buffet food, but I'm not going back to roll the dice again.

Average buffet that was bolstered by the excellent sushi available all-day. That has seemingly changed as there is no sushi included with the weekday lunch buffet. It's still the same price, there are no signs mentioning this, and the sushi area is stocked with ice and the lights on with the tip jar out. Asked the waitress and she said it's gone for lunch. Wish I would have asked before I started eating; several other people did and left. The fruit was also noticeably below their usual quality too.
