Diabetics at Jamba Juice:

Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. If you're diabetic and concerned about the sugar intake, then you can opt for the smaller 9.5-ounce smoothies available for kids at Jamba Juice.

Foods to Avoid at Jamba Juice for Diabetics:

Jamba Juice is primarily known for its highly satisfying and nutritive smoothies and juices. Almost every smoothie and juice item on the Jamba Juice menu contains sugar. Diabetics are recommended to opt for smaller serving size while ordering at Jamba Juice. Also, avoid opting for creamy treats as all the smoothies offered in this category contain a load of sugars.

Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

Delicious food. Run specials on local offerings and seasonal items. Particular fan of the kale Caesar salad and green chili bison burger. Delicious sliders and nice casual atmosphere. Moscow mules seem to be the drink of choice at the moment. We have only had wine and their mulled cider though. We had an avalanche search and rescue dog with us once and it was too cold to leave her in the car (a -20 snap) and they were super nice about our party having her tucked under out seats.

Awesome atmosphere and one of the best places in Missoula for dinner and drinks. Extensive bar, good Montana beer selection, and Bison, Lamb, Idaho catfish and more on the menu. Food has been perfect every time, although the cole slaw with my fish and chips was way to vinegary - the waitress said she would notify the kitchen staff immediately. This is a great place to take a date for dinner!

  • Lauren G.

Probably among the pricier places I went to in Montana, and among the least vegetarian-friendly, but for the cheesy Montana-themed food and drink items they offered, it was a little awesome. Where else could I get an Elk slider? (or a lamb one for that matter?) And of course a beer called Moose Drool (which was really quite nice!). Perhaps these aren't specific to James Bar, but that I had them all at the same place amused me. So did the tree-trunk shaped tables. Like I said, kind of cheesy, but a little awesome. Just watch: the Slider may be made from Elk, but it's still pretty teeny. (also a bit dry...the lamb one was WAY better...)

James bar is doing a lot of things right. The decor is rad, the drink list is the best downtown, the prices are just right, and the servers are friendly. went to lunch there recently however and was sorely disappointed with my lamb burger. The patty itself was luke warm, the bun was soggy and there were more sprouts than meat. I will def. go back again and try different menu items (my wife liked her sliders a lot). As of right now however I am impartial. *look for future updates

  • Lacey C.

I've heard they have great food--what is it, $5 for a beer and a burger if you go at the right time? I've never gone. Shame on me. Great atmosphere for little ol' Missoula. Pay particular attention to the spot-on decor details (Velocity deer head over the fireplace $400 +). Funny thing is that this place is literally right next door (Trying to find the bathroom? Be careful!) to Al and Vic's--mostly a dive bar that makes up for everything the James Bar lacks. Oh yeah, that would be a strong drink for under $7. And sometimes it sucks when you're having cocktails with friends in heels when you're ambushed by frats there for the $2 PBR tall-boys.

Found this great place on the Yelp while visiting Missoula. Excellent food/beverages and selection. Elk, bison, lobster, and lamb sliders rocked. Salad with lime-cumin dressing was very good. As noted by other reviewers, the sweet potato tots are a must have. Good atmosphere and service. Give it a try.

  • Jennifer T.

Food is good and atmosphere is nice. I love the sweet potato tots. You can split an order for 4 people easily. The service is always friendly but sometimes the kitchen is slow. It can be a gamble.

Really great place. Best tater tots I have ever had. Wonderful bison meatloaf.

I came here last Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. My previous experience here wasn't so hot, so I was hesitant in coming back. Glad I did. I didn't eat, but the gentleman bar tending was excellent. If you like cocktails or are jumping onto the "mixology" bandwagon I recommend popping your head in here. Kudos to the bartender 5/23 as my custom cocktails were spot on.

Jessica was our waitress You can see railroad cars go by in the store front windows. Passing through town on the way to Yellowstone Saturday night, not knowing Missoula is a college town, we could not figure out why a half dozen insanely hot women were passing our table (near the entrance). Most of the customers were out on a date or having girls' night out. We previewed the menu from the website. The strength of the cellphone signal was weak but the items in the menu were with the wait. Various kinds of burgers and an extensive drink list caught our eye. We skipped because we are on a road trip. Service was attentive; this one particular cook was another story. My husbands bison burger (medium) landed in my Aidenator set up. When I worked at Denny's tee cook smoked so I was not too surprised. I have no other glitch to report. She gave us a compliment dessert to make up for it. Check this place out.

In college, this was my preferred hang out spot on the weekend. Good drinks, good food and a good atmosphere. A lot of graduate students tend to hang out here.

Sliders are a bit dry. Greek fries are meh. Seriously very little flavor won't bother ordering those again. I loved their onion rings though they are greasy, and the mushroom beef tip thingy is very tasty. I usually don't drink but ended up having two and they were both very strong even my companion said they were. Not complaining about that at all since most places are pretty stingy. Sandwiches during the day are pretty good. My daughter couldn't stop eating or complaining about how full she was. I don't know what the bar scene is like since I've only done dinner and lunch.

Inventive menu, cool rock-and-roll memorabilia. Food was satisfying. Fun and attentive wait staff. A welcoming place

  • William P.

The place is conveniently located downtown where other restaurants are located. They have a full bar selection and also a decent wine's list. I came to this place because they offer bison's meat: you have three choices for it: sliders, meatloaf, and burgers made with bison. I tried the meatloaf and it was delicious.

  • Randy P.

The James Bar is not as good as when it originally open. It is still a good place to eat and decent drinks. The service is hit and miss depending on who you get. I will definitely go back but it's not one of the top hangouts. Check out the monster oysters :(

  • Mikey X.

This is probably the best place in Missoula for a classy - but not fancy - evening. The atmosphere is comfortable but has an energetic vibe. The bar itself is coated with copper, which looks and feels totally cool. The bartenders are friendly and can offer you suggestions on drinks and food alike. There's also a large wine selection; probably the best downtown outside of Plonk's. If you sit at a table, the service is quick and polite. There's several different levels and subsections in the seating area, so you can either be secluded in a corner or in front of the TVs behind the bar. Soups are excellent; so are the BLTs for lunch.

GO HERE! The perfect girl's night out for happy hour. Service was great and the food was even greater! I recommend the beef bites and sweet potato tots!

Fantastic food, fun atmosphere and a very popular hotspot from the crowd on a Wednesday. I wish more places served sweet potato tater tots with some surprise bites of truffle oil in it like theirs. The burger and the kale caesar with steak were super good too!

  • Caroline Y.

Fries: 5/5. Kale salad: 5/5. Quinoa cakes: meh. 2/5. There are very few vegetarian meal options at this restaurant, so they need to nail those. They did just that with the kale salad but those beautiful cakes were tasteless! The iron horse has terrible vegetarian food- get it right and steal their traffic. Great service, however!

Ordered bbq pork nachos. It was eh. Not much meat or toppings. Mostly chips.

I could not have been happier with my decision to eat here!! While visiting Missoula on business, I desperately wanted a bison burger while in town. Locals pointed me here. It exceeded my expectations. Had a bison burger with locally cured meat, green chiles, and jack cheese. Side order of sweet potato tots and a local IPA to wash it down. Every component was amazing! Bartender was friendly and engaging, atmosphere was better than many of the bars nearby, and the Hunter S Thompson love on the walls of the joint was the cherry on top. Highly recommend coming here if you're in the area!

    (5)
  • Brigitte M.

Terrible and rude! We called ahead to see if we could sit outside WITH OUR DOGS. Yes, we asked if we could bring our dogs onto their patio and were assured dogs were fine. When we showed up, several patrons patted our dogs. Then the staff came out and asked if they were service dogs. Then they demanded to see paper work. When we told them that we called ahead, they blamed the staff. Ultimately, we were kicked out for health code violations. No apology. No attempt to serve us with out the dogs. No accommodations. Just plain sent packing. The kicker: as we left, several smokers were sitting directly outside the door with beers! Hipocracy at its finest!

    (1)
  • Austin M.

Strong drinks and good food. Get the lamb burger. Or the hot fries. Or the Buffalo burger. Cooler more elegant atmosphere if you're into that.

    (5)
  • Dagmara M.

Adam the bartender is the best part about the James Bar. His drinks are as bomb as his jokes. Sit at the bar if you can. The service on the floor is usually mediocre, but can be quite horrible if you happen upon the wrong gal. Sometimes the staff does dumb things such as placing plastic straws in hot water for tea. The mini Stan is the best treat on the menu, but don't let them shaft you on the onion ring (they try to do that sometimes). Everything else is average bar food, so if you're concerned about health, quality or taste stick to drinking or the hot cookie with ice cream in cast iron pan.

  • J J.

I give this place 3 stars for their lack of good customer service. I went here a few times over my vacation and ended up leaving the server like $2 for how crappy she was. Great atmosphere, decent food....horrible service. Get better servers and you will get happier customers.

Ok so I'm a food snob and travel all over the world. I happen to have a home in Missoula the last 4 yrs. I've been to James' Bar several times and it's always very tasty comfort food. My boys and wife love it. Since the beginning of 2014 I've been eating much healthier and low fat all time. I almost did not come here tonight knowing about all the tasty sliders and fries. But the family really wanted to so I did. I went with a house salad and the seared scallops. I gotta tell yA- as good a meal as I've had anywhere. I'm super impressed and very happy that James' also can do healthy and very tasty. I'm a big hot and spicy guy and the plate drizzled with Sriracha sauce was genius.

  • Adam S.

Had very good Sunday brunch here. Greek fries were a generous portion, well seasoned, and had an interesting cucumber/feta type dip. Had their brunch special: bison meatloaf over cheese grits and kale, with brown gravy. I'm visiting from the South, and eat grits once or twice per weak, so I was skeptical about how Montana grits would be, but they were very well prepared and delicious. The bison meatloaf was much more tender than I expected, and very flavorful. The kale had an interesting light dressing that tasted like it had a beer base perhaps, and was very good. Highly recommend.

James Bar is a great spot to hang out, or get dinner. Its a treasure in a sea of college bars. SWEET POTATO TATER TOTS?! ridiculous. Muscles are great too. Prices are reasonable too.

One of the best bar restaurants I've been to in a long time. Staff genuinely friendly and helpful and engaged. Steak nicely cooked. Bartender was very accommodating letting me sample multiple beers. Patrons were generally friendly, intelligent and unpretentious. Prices were extremely reasonable.

Yelpsop's Fables "The lithesome lizard" Two professors, one musician, and a photographer walk into a bar. After surveying the landscape, they seat themselves at a table next to an elegant gas-lit fireplace, above which is hung an antlered stag's head, and upon whose mantlepiece rests a women's soccer team trophy awarded in 2010 to the James Bar Beavers. The lithesome lizard, perched as he was high above them on the wall, halfway between the oversized portraits of a still-living Janis Joplin and an as-yet-unwrinkled Keith Richards, remained silent and undetected in the hip yet casual stillness of a slow Tuesday drinking night at this most ultrachic of watering holes in downtown Missoula. The lizard watched, as he so often did, as the new arrivals scanned the menus placed before them by an attractively blond and attentively tuned hostess. He smiled knowingly when three of them ordered Moscow Mules, a double order of sweet potato tots, and an elk slider. "Those ones," he thought to himself, "have been here before. They know what they want." The fourth member of the party, the lizard noticed, seemed less familiar with his surroundings. He stared wide-eyed at the row upon row of bottles behind the mirrored bar, he inspected the women's soccer trophy, he gazed at the pictures and read the menus carefully. For a brief moment, the lizard even felt the man's eyes fall upon him - or perhaps not - for it was dark and almost 10 pm and the kitchen was about to close so ordering food took priority. The lizard leaned a little into the open space to listen as the man ordered sunchoke chips from the specials menu and a Scottish Mule, which came with Hendrick's gin and tasted of ginger beer, mint, and cucumber, and was served in clear, thick-cut glass, not the gleaming copper mugs in which the Moscow Mules duly arrived. "Hmmm .... " mused the lizard, "this is interesting: a variation on the same old, same old. Cucumber gin, sunchokes, and not even a bison slider to go alongside. I have not seen this here before." For the lithesome lizard, the continuous change of pace at the James Bar was inherently interesting; the endless parade of people who came and went kept him alert and animated, even during the dark hours of a cold autumn's night. As he warmed himself by the rising column of heat from the fireplace, the lizard smiled, silently, and stayed as motionless as only reptiles like him know how to do, while the humans below talked, laughed, ate, drank, and gesticulated incessantly, as is their wont - here, at the James Bar, and in the wider world beyond. Moral: You can learn a lot from a lizard.

Great food, great deck, great ambiance, friendly and efficient waitresses. It is my favorite place in Missoula.

  • Rachelle A.

The drinks were okay, nothing special. I got the house margarita and it tasted really weak. We were a table of six and the service sucked. We ordered two appetizers, 6 entrees and two desserts and it took forever to get it all. Not to mention that we were constantly out of water and it took 30 min for them to pour the second round of drinks :( other then that, the atmosphere and food was great!

Food was amazing and service was fantastic!! Our waitress Kate was fantastic and very attentive! Will be back for more elk sliders!

  • Nico A.

James Bar is arguably my favorite bar in town. It's classy and slightly expensive so it attracts more of the older, working crowd in there and it is not overrun by college kids. Another bonus is that the food is amazing here. Everything from the sliders to the burgers. You cannot go wrong. Try ordering a Mac N' Q sandwich, which is pulled pork with Mac & Cheese! They also have a 2 for 1 Grey Goose drinks special on Thursday for $5 which is a steal!!

So sad. Used to be a classy place for cocktails, conversation and appetizers. Now, with TVs flashing everywhere you look (extremely distracting with all the mirrors) it is just your average sports bar.

Great atmosphere with good food and a nice selection of draft beer. Good place to go with friends on a late night and visit.

    (4)
  • Jake E.

Good beers, cool atmosphere / decor, and above average food. Lots of good things to say, nothing fantastic. Sweet potato tots and sliders and fries are worth getting too. The normal fries were fantastic, but only got a couple of them myself.

  • Madison B.

Mellow enough to bro' it up, but also romantic enough to get swanky. The sweet potato tots and sliders are fantastic. On the pricier side, the scallops are amazing. The place is packed weekend nights and while the service is never poor or rude, it's not above average.

  • Laird W.

This is one of my favorite places in Missoula to dine. Great ambience, servers all seem to be funny, interesting people, and the food/drinks are always good. Bison stew, burgers, sweet potato "tots", sliders of a variety of meat. All awesome. Try the Moscow Mules! They come in a wide variety, each carefully crafted to taste good and not skimp on the booze. Tip - Arrive a little early as the place is very popular and don't be afraid to sidle in to Al and Vics bar next door after you eat. Same drinks more room!

    (5)
  • Brittany N.

Delicious!! You must try the sweet potato tots..no matter what. They were so great, I couldn't stop popping those lil guys into my mouth! The decor is adorable, and it's definitely one of the nicest spots I found in Missoula. I sat at the bar to enjoy my dinner and the two bartenders were super friendly and helpful. The bartender told me of lots of great weekday specials - mostly including meat though, so not my cup of tea. (Luckily for me they had a delicious veggie sandwich!) If you're in town, I'd highly recommend grabbing a bite or a bevvy here ;]

  • Joel S.

Great ambiance. Great food. A bit pricey for some things, but a good value on others. I recommend: the dips appetizer (hummus, hot feta dip, and taziki), kale Caesar, burgers, cajun fish and chips.

    (4)
  • SRose W.

Order the sweet potato tots and a margarita on the rocks...YUM. Best margarita and fried snack food in town...no contest. There isn't a ton of seating, so if you go at a busy time you have to either watch like a hawk for a table to open or go to Al and Vics next door (which serves the same margaritas and food as they share a kitchen and liquor license). James Bar is a must stop for late afternoon cocktails with your girlfriends or after dinner drinks with your significant other.

    (5)
  • DeAnna P.

Very cool vibe in this place. Bison stew and various sliders are awesome. Wish they had a bigger selection of local beers, but they did have a good bar.

  • Ms. V.

Definitely one of my favorites. Feels like a big city bar/lounge. Absolutely Beautiful decor and ambiance, super friendly and competent staff, AMAZING food for a bar.. more like a high priced bistro but without the high price. The drinks are great, bartenders super friendly and have no problem recommending something after asking a few questions to get a feel for your preferred flavor profile. Since it's a little spendier, it's definitely more of a late 20's and up professional crowd. A HUGE draw for me. There are plenty of divey college bars in Missoula. This one is high class. One of my go-to fav's!

Came in for a drink after eating dinner downtown. Our server was prompt but very abrupt, not friendly and wasn't happy we were there. It seems like a pretty typical college town bar.

After years of getting into town late after a long day of fishing and looking for a casual, comfortable place for a light dinner and a few cocktails, we've found a new favorite. The James is fun, hip without being in your face trendy, and a great place to sit at the bar for a good local brew and some interesting menu items. The bartenders are friendly and the lamb and Stan's sliders are a good recommendation. Should have taken the bartender's advice on our order....the lamb and Stan's sliders are much better than the elk and next time we'll go with the Greek fries instead of the Cajun rings

James bar has a good atmosphere. But the drinks are over priced. I don't want to go too in detail about the food, but I'll give you an example. My last time in, I had their famous sliders. Nevermind the fact I'm paying $4 for a 'slider'. Or the fact the food service is slow (which I don't believe the wait staff is at fault for). The Elk and beef sliders were way over cooked (black on the outside, dry in the middle). The bison was charcol on the outside and almost raw in the middle, and the lamb was actually close to a medium well but still had a layer of charcol on the outside. So I won't go there again. Nor will I suggest it to friends. Again, the only good aspect of this restraunt/bar is the atmosphere.

I wouldn't call this a tapas bar at all. I could barely finish my ridiculously wrong pulled pork/mac'n'cheese sandwich with sweet potato tots, and I have a prodigious appetite. The last few bites of my wife's lamb slider were excellent as well. I was not looking forward to my drive back to Helena, but I'll definitely be back to James Bar.

This is a great place to hang with friends, have a few drinks enjoy some amazing food. Pleasant staff, great drink specials and always something new on the menu to try. A must stop.

Heres what I like about James Bar... Its the closest thing to a lounge style we have in Missoula - leather bench seats, the upper deck, dim lights, the fireplace... Personally, I dig the Hunter S. Thompson and J. Buffett quotes on the outside of the building and the large photos of some of rock n rolls biggest icons on the inside walls - do the college kids even know who they are? I like that the owner is workin' it! They have a great red wine list and a generous pour in a nice, big glass. They make a mean Scottish mule and have beautiful copper mugs if you like it served in that. Their shepherds pie, and macaroni n cheese are delish, and nice portion size. Various sliders are a great deal at $1! I'm a fan of the halibut cheeks. But, my absolute favorite thing on the menu is their Caesar salad. That is, until they changed it. And they changed it cuz people don't get it, kept sending it back. It was a beautiful creation, the most unique Caesar I've ever eaten - and Caesar is my go to salad. I've had just about every restaurant's version in town and it was by far my favorite. They served the romaine heart leaves whole, stacked, and ladeled with their house made dressing all on an long plate. The first time I ordered it I tried, like any civilized person to cut it into pieces and stuff it in my mouth with a fork. On the second cut, the whole thing slid off the plate and smack onto the floor. This made me recall one time when I was walking down to the hip strip, lickin' on an ice cream cone just purchased from Big Dipper. Second lick, the whole scoop plopped onto the sidewalk before me. There is no 5 second rule with ice cream on a dirty sidewalk, or romaine hearts on a bar floor for that matter. I actually cried both times. So, at James then, I began to eat the salad with my hands. Just dig in, pick up a leaf and start chomping, throw on another crouton and take another bite. It's okay, who's gonna come over and tell you, ya can't eat it that way. Hey, if Alice Waters of Chez Panisse fame can eat even her spaghetti like that, that's good enough for me. The other night when I was there, they brought me the Caesar and it was all hacked to shreds in a bowl with the dressing in a little cup. I almost sent it back. Shamus explained to me it was an experiment. Well, stop I say. Would you serve the classic iceberg wedge with bacon and blue cheese all chopped up in a bowl? Here's a simple fix. Its like when you go into a coffee place that really knows how to make a macchiato- NOT Starbucks (theirs is an abomination). And because of them, a bonafide barrista will ask you; 'do you understand how we make ours?' Shamus, just train the waitstaff to explain the Caesar, instead of change the unique work of art you present. Food should be art, not just a bowl of chopped romaine...

One of the best places in Missoula for a classy and intimate drink. The food is delicious whether you're ordering appetizers or an entree. The drinks can be a little more expensive but the atmosphere is worth it. Patrons gather for a good time and I have yet to encounter a gaggle of just-turned-21 students looking to get drunk, which I find too often at the other bars. Yes bars are for drinking but sometimes its nice to have a drink in a setting with a more refined patron base. After grabbing dinner downtown I love to head over here for drink, usually a rum & coke. I really like that the staff makes an effort to use the exact brand of liquor you want in your drink, instead of charging you an arm and leg for something made with a cheap brand.

James Bar definitely had a cool atmosphere, but it lacked in quality. The drinks were amazing though even if they were on the pricier side. We got the special of the day which was a vodka and basil infused drink. Very tasty. And a friend recommended that I get the huckleberry vodka (44 degrees north brand) drink and it was rockin'. We got the sweet potato tater tots that after a month my friend is still talking about and some of the sliders. I got an elk and the house speciality and the elk was all but charbroiled but the house one was good. And we got some fries which were enough to feed 4 people perfectly. All in all, it was good and if and when I'm back in Missoula I'd definitely give it another try.

I think it's funny to note that nearly all of the reviews for this place are by people from out of state- it says a lot about this bar's place in the Missoula bar scene. Not exactly what most of us consider a typical hangout. It does bring some class and sass to the 'hood, with higher prices to go with. The fries are tasty, the drinks, while spendy, are excellent if consumed on the back patio, and the decor is pretty darn great. Retro light bulbs, poured concrete bar, giant Janis poster on the wall, Jimmy Buffett quote outside, inlaid wood tables....good stuff. It definitely gets to be a bit too much of a "scene" late weekend nights, but it's not bad for an early evening cocktail. If things get to be too much, you can always slink across the hall to Als and Vics and feel right at home. Even better? You can get some of Chef Noel's yummy grub (the Aidenator is on my top 5 list of best burgers ever) over on the Als side if you ask real nice.

I really like the atmosphere here, but I am always a fan of a dark bar with a fireplace! I had been hungry for a good brat & they had it ( with really yummy sides of kraut & braised cabbage although sadly enough the mashed potatoes were below average). Margaritas were the happy hour special @ 3 bucks a pop and they hit the spot for sure. The husband had a big burger with lots of stuff ( I think it was called the aidenator...) and he finished every last bite with a smile on his face. We added the garlic fries to his meal b/c that was what I was originally wanting... I was a little underwhelmed on those. Not enough garlic and they were mushy and fatter than I was hoping for. I was craving pomme frite style so my expectations may have been a little off. Overall, with the nice decor & fireplace & both main dishes on the money I would say I will want to return often. Price is a little high... But I liked it all enough not to mind it.

Bummer, this place has a very nice spot, great theme, but just doesn't follow through with the food. I ordered three items; home made french fries, seared ahi and a chicken dish over polenta. The fries were cooked well, but covered with entirely too much salt, the tuna was ok, but nothing special and the chicken was over cooked, very dry. The polenta was drenched in the sauce that the chicken was cooked in so kinda gross. The place is attached to a long time staple of Missoula, Al and Vics (stiffest drinks in town). Seemed like a burger cook was cooking food over his head. Ostrich meat sliders and lobster corn dogs. Newly opened. Hope they can make some changes and find the niche. I wont be back until they do.

I enjoyed this interesting take on Tapas. The selection of sliders and general atmosphere will get me coming back again while I'm in town.

Very good food, and the vibe is really great. Cool black and white rock photos on the wall, and a modern design fireplace. Nice low lit atmosphere if you're considering it for a date. We had an assortment of sliders, including the duck, bison, ostrich, and elk. All were very good and distinct in flavor. I particularly enjoyed the duck prepared with Maker's Mark sauce. We also enjoyed the spicy garlic fries and tater tots, neither being over-flavored or too salty. I believe we may try it again tomorrow night!
