Fast service and friendly atmosphere. I usually stop during lunch for the buffet. Good food at reasonable prices.

This place is incredible! I've been going here for 10+ years! It's reasonably priced and the food is SO GREAT! It's not like other chinese food that tastes rubbery. I'm really picky about chinese food and this chinese food is so good!

One of the best Chinese buffets out there. I routinely drive 30 minutes each way just to eat there, and I've been doing this for years. I've never actually ordered any of their menu options, as I always opt for the buffet. They have it during lunch and dinner times, and they shut it down for a few hours in the middle of the day. I've found that the best time to get there is between 11am-11:30am, to get everything fresh out of the kitchen all at the same time. :) They're usually very good about keeping the trays re-filled, however. They don't have as many options as some of the other buffets out there, but what they do have is excellent.

This is a buffet, dine in carry out place. I ordered my food to go but their buffet selections was alright. Delicious egg rolls and fried rice.

Sometimes the chicken can be a little overcooked when I get takeout, but its the best place around.

Let me first say that Chinese food is not high on my list of cuisine preferences. But it's places like this that leave a bad taste in mouth...pun intended. I've been to the buffet at Great Lakes once, they have a wide variety on the buffet, but the food was mediocre at best. The staff was pleasant and attentive, but that didn't make up for the lackluster food. That being said, I chose not to review Great Lakes on the buffet alone, I figured that ordering an item off of the menu would provide a more well rounded review. Well, I'm sorry to say, the beef pepper steak that I had for takeout was terrible. Several pieces and chunks of rice were hard, and more importantly, the beef was ridiculously chewy, to the point where I ended up spitting it out and not eat anymore. My daughter felt bad about the situation and gave me a few of her pieces of her orange chicken. The first piece of chicken I bit into was also bad. And for those reasons, I'm out. Won't be eating there again. I'm actually surprised this place is still open, might have something to do with there not being many restaurants nearby to compete with it.

Our favorite generic Chinese takeout. We seem to get better food when we order for pick up, rather than when we dine in, but overall good food for the price. Fast service for pick up, but slow and lacking service for dining in. Bottom line: call in your order, pick it up and take it back to the comfort of our own home, enjoy!

We were at the buffet last week. My wife got chicken wings. She noticed the chicken was coveted in long hair. I had shown the chicken to the waitress who them informed the kitchen staff. We received a reply of "that's how we get it from our vendor, we have no control over this"

This place must have changed drastically for the worse in the last few years. Took the wife here on the spur of the moment at 6:00PM on a Friday, we were seated and the waitress took our drink order. We went to the buffet and half of it was empty or just sauce scrapings left in the bottom of the pans, the other half did not look good. So we went back to the table and told our waitress we weren't interested in eating there and asked for the bill. She brought us a bill for two full buffets and drinks. Okay, I understand the drinks portion as she had to pour them and bring them to us, but we didn't eat anything, we didn't take a plate even. We took the bill to the counter and asked why we were being charged when we didn't eat anything and got arrogant look. The waitress chimed in that of course we have to pay because she sat us at a table. If we didn't pay they would call the police. So, $20 we will be taking up with our credit card company, what a way to run a business. Never again Great Lakes Chinese, may you be shut down due to health code violations and complaints.

I would have given this 5-Stars but the buffet is subpar. The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and courteous. But there are some things on the buffet that I [personally] don't care for. Which all has to do with personal preference. Food tastes great and the buffet only lasts till 3:00pm. Then the price goes up. The 'take-out' however, is really where it's at. The prices are fair and the combination plates give you fried rice, along with 1 egg roll. Which is the right size portion. Plus, there's always 'leftovers." This place is great and isn't hard to find. The buffet isn't something to shake a stick at. So if you're looking to get Chinese food from this place, definitely get their 'take-out.'

Best Chinese food I have had! The buffet is great, sometimes they are out of some of the items..but its a buffet, thats what happens, people ahead of you empty it, and they will refill it when more is ready. Their lunch special takeout is amazing. The portion you get for the price is spectacular. The service is always friendly and prompt. My drink is never empty. I go here almost every time I am back in town! I have yet to find an even decent Chinese restaurant where I live now. Every time I try one, I am dissatisfied and wishing that I could have had Great Lakes!

A great quality Chinese buffet. Although it is kind of small, it has all the essentials! I've been there twice now and the food has been hot and fresh both times. The wait staff is usually slow to fill my drink, but that won't keep me from coming back. Good stuff!

Yummy Chinese food in a small Dutch town, who would've thunk it???? I haven't found any dish I didn't like. Their portions are very generous. And the prices are so reasonable even the strictest penny pincher would approve.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
