Good food. Pretty much your standard Chinese place. Good sweet and sour chicken. It's clearly family run and chinese food in general takes a lot of effort to make. Much appreciated.

When I order from here, it is on the notion that I am taking it home to devour it at my own table! It is delicious and fresh every time. The portions are HUGE. They have the best beef with broccoli I've ever had.

I hate take out. I prefer to dine-in (which one can do at Happy Dragon). When the situation where take-out becomes a necessity, Chinese is usually the perfect solution. It is usually great, and you get a terrific bang for your buck. When a take-out dinner at Happy Dragon was suggested, I was skeptical. I asked my friend, "Well, what's good there?" His reply was simple: "Mike, it's your very standard Chinese place. No frills. The food is great and exactly how you'd expect it. I doubt you'll be disappointed." I was already hungry, and I have nothing to lose. My friend was right. The food at Happy Dragon was neither special nor sub-par.; it was just right. Between four people (one of whom is a baby), we ordered three dishes and three egg rolls. The total was only $35. It was $35 well spent. The Kung Pao Chicken was definitely my favorite, followed by the Happy Family Special. The Broccoli Beef was mediocre. The egg rolls were on par with those found at any other generic Chinese restaurant. The white rice was, well, white rice. I found the fried rice to be rather bland, but again, it was perfectly acceptable. The service was carried out mostly by a teenage girl, who was as helpful as a teenager could be. We had our meal in about 20 minutes from the time we called in the order. I won't hesitate to give Happy Dragon my business when in need of a generic Chinese meal.

Always great food and always fast and friendly service. Love this place! What more can I say? Yelp says my review is too short to use, and so I will tell you that my favorite Chinese restaurant is the Happy Deagon. I love the beef and Broccoli.

First of all, let me state there there are 2 different Happy Dragon restaurants in Indianapolis (emphasis on the word different). This location on 71st street does NOT deliver (so I believe at least one of the comments below is meant for the other restaurant). The Mongolian Beef is excellent. We get it EVERY TIME. Very good! What this place has in flavor, they lack in ambiance. As a matter of fact, I've never actually seen anyone eating in the establishment but my family. But while we're there many folks come to pick up their carry out orders (which is what we usually do). My only wish... that they delivered.

This is probably, not probably, the worst chinese food I have ever tried to eat. We ordered pork sweet and sour, fried rice and chicken w cashews and pork egg rolls. The pork was dripping in grease as was were the egg rolls. The chicken also had a greasy taste. The fried rice was bland. Threw it all in the trash. I should have been tipped off to this as I got in the car with my carry out and the car reeked with frying grease. Absolutely disgusting. Save your money.

Short version is this is a no frills place with very good food. Appearance: This is no frills place with only 4-5 picnic style tables that are not always cleared off. Food: Very, very good. they have a large menu with all dishes that I have tried have been very good. The dishes have been very flavorful and not over sauced as is the Panda Express model. Also they have always been served fresh with the rice always been hot and not clumping. service: Service can be friendly when not busy as they will give recommendations on dishes and will even make changes to your satisfaction. price: The real winner here is the price. Lunch specials from $4-6 and dinner in the $6-11 range. Overall this is a notch above other fast Chinese places by winning on food quality and taste and also on price. Has been added to the rotation and will continue to frequent

There are so many places to get this fare. Go somewhere else. The hot and sour had too much cornstarch--broth had odd texture. Moo shoo pork 90 percent cabbage and a few strips stringy mystery meat. Stingy with Hoisin, pancakes dried out. Dumplings ok. Shrimp Lo Mein mediocre. No tea--in a Chinese restaurant! Bottled water for sale. Sticky table. Worst meal out in a while...

Not impressed by any means. We got delivery which was very speedy, I will give them that; but that's probably because they pulled the food right off the buffet. Nothing seemed that fresh and my shrimp fried rice was the worst I have ever had. It looked and tasted like something from the freezer section at the grocery store. No, I take that back. It was far worse. Will never eat there again.

Someone moved my review to a different Happy Dragon. This Happy Dragon that I'm reviewing here is a very new one. Just opened a couple days ago, at 5868 E. 71st St., corner of Binford Blvd, at a strip mall called Binford Shoppes, next door to Kroger. It's on the West side of Binford, and on the North side of 71st. The web site indicates that the owners are the same as (or related to) the owners of the sister store at 11665 Fox Road, but this is another location, just new this week. This is a relatively new building, and it looks like this restaurant is the first occupant of this spot. Furniture, fixtures, floor tiles, ceiing tiles, etc, are all new. They offer the standard walk-up eat-in-or-take-out Chinese menu, and have the standard backlit pictures of standard dishes up on the wall. Really good bargains on lunch specials, all for $4.95, including shrimp dishes, until 3:00 pm. Lunch specials, even for eat-in, are served in a to-go container, a round aluminum pie-tin with the plastic top. Utensils are self-serve. Soda is in cans and bottles in a cooler up front. They also offer the usual items in Pint and Quart containers, plus Combination dinners for $7.25, plus "Chef's Specialties" for $8.95 to $12.95. I had the Moo Goo Gai Pan lunch, and I liked it. The mushrooms were fresh, not canned. FAX NUMBER = 570-8890. ... There is a minimum $10 purchase for using Visa/Mastercard. Sun through Thursday, open until 10:00pm. Friday/Saturday, open until 11:00pm.

Stopped here for lunch after picking the car up at Maaco next door; I'll definitely be back. The chicken curry had a definite kick to it, and the chicken itself was tender and delicious. The fried rice looked like homemade instead of the yellow-dyed premade kind. The restaurant itself was clean, and service was quick. They have a handful of dishes on the menu ([meat] with green beans and "four kind mushrooms," for example) that I'm not using to seeing at other restaurants--I need to give those a try.

Happy Dragon was a definite success for me as a Chinese restaurant. I rolled in at 3:05 and sheepishly asked if I could still get the lunch menu and the lady that was working was so nice and let me order the lunch deal General Tsu's chicken and fried rice. As you can imagine, this made me very happy. I waited for less than ten minutes before my food was made, which wasn't that long at all. You do have the option of calling in prior to picking up your food. The General Tsu's chicken was great. A little spicy, a completely full meal, and the eggroll that accompanied it was interesting in that there was an almost cherry-like flavor to it. I thought it was unique, and I was pleased with the taste. My lunch meal was around $5.75 and it is enough for at least two meals. I'm going to be eating the rest for lunch today. The restaurant is nice and quaint and has booths to sit in, but I get the impression that most people get takeout.

Our usual take out place. We really like the food and the service and speed are excellent. We usually get the two entrees but we could split one if we agreed on what to eat.

We get takeout here, and the food is very good. I really like the szechuan tofu, which is really like a mock chicken. My daughter really likes the fried rice and fried wontons. The vegetables in the dishes are very fresh and well-cooked. The sauces seem less sticky and are very flavorful. We will definitely be back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
