I'm really at a 4.5 here, just because I don't love throwing out a 5 after one visit. With that being said, this place is an old school local bar/grill. I could see a lot of regulars coming here, but let me tell you that the clam chowder and fish sandwich are outstanding. This fish sandwich, picture is posted, was just fresh, huge and delicious. The onion petals were an excellent choice as well. I'm taking the rest of my sandwich and petals back to the hotel for some late night stacking (I have an oven in my room).

What a great place... I have been here one other time with relatives... BUT this time I was on my own. I had a great time and felt safe the entire time... As a single women on business..this is important.. I felt safe to chat at the bar about sports and no more than nice conversation. The salmon was cooked perfectly... I even ate the cooked carrots.. (which I normally hate).. They were very good..im sorry I did not come Here all 4 nights.... I was in indy.... I may come to lunch here tomorrow.... Outstanding!!! You will not be sorry to come to this place.

Westside gem! Everything on the menu - cant go wrong! Service is consistently food. Favorites include: tenderloin, chili, burritos, and patty melt. All salsas/guac homemade. Even though is in a strip mall, dont drive by --- stop in now. Love this neighborhood joint!

Excellent place! The food came out really fast and the flavor was incredible. I ordered the KC wings (pork wings) and they were just amazing. Great experience.

I had the fish and chips and it was just amazing. The fish had a good crunch without being dried out or burnt. After moving all morning, this place really hit the spot for lunch. The three family members I was with all had sandwiches which were huge! The portions and artistry of the meals were well worth the price. I'm so excited to have a new favorite spot so soon after moving in!

Lunch is delightfully casual but not lazy. Bacon cheeseburger was on special and it was easily one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Home made chips are perfect. A benefit of this being a pub: no kids! You can actually hear the music, which isn't obtrusive. Oh, and make sure Kirsten is your server. She is such a sweetheart. Eating here really helps keep away theft Monday blues.

Great find through Google maps. Very easy to get to off highway. Only a few minutes. Thou are definitely not going to leave hungry. We stopped for lunch. The sandwiches were huge and the side plentiful. Also, I had a cup of chowder and it was delicious.

The smoke is Offensive. But I always go here and pick up lunch to go, so I just practice holdming my breath as I cut my way thorough the smoke to the bar to pay and pick up. I always order the same thing, a super tasty chicken fajita wrap with fries. It's a yummy fajita stuffed into a wrap with salsa and sour cream on the side and it is SO good. Thankfully they are adding an outdoor patio, and I hope it will be reserved for non-smokers so that I can actually add this to a lunch place I would take people. That's right, the smoke is SO bad, I would never take anyone here. The owners and staff are all super friendly and know the regulars by name and drinks.

I called in carry out here one night when I didn't feel like cooking. I saw a filet mignon on their menu for pennies, so I jumped all over that. I ordered fish-n-chips for my beau. He said the fish was some of the best he's ever had, but the filet.... meh. It tasted like cheap steak - which it was, so I should have known better. It's definitely more of a pub food place so now that I know that, I'll order accordingly. The mashed potatoes tasted instant and the veggies either frozen or canned. So... if and when we go back, fried food it is with a healthy portion of libations!

Nice place to grab a burger and watch the game, lots of TV's and enough locals from the Eagle Creek area stop in. Cool nautical scene and fishtank!! Woo hoo! Who's loving the fishtank!! Classy decor and booths, bar tables have small table tops but comfy once you wiggle into place. I've only had the burgers here so I'll have to update this review. So far, I really like the attentive service and fast kitchen!

Well folks! Boathouse Grill popped my Tenderloin cherry! I have lived here for 3 years and never had a tenderloin, but when we went here after a day of brewery touring with friends, everyone convinced me to try it. Well? It was ok, but that may just be because I'm not into thinly pounded then breaded meat. I thought the bar was cool. I love how they really go for it with the theme. The popcorn at the front was a great holdover since our group was very large, so it took a while to get food. Honestly, just good pub food which sometimes is all you need!

Sorry...just can't beyond the disgusting smoke.. .beer selection pretty damn mediocre in this enlightened time of craft beers.... Staff...more than pleasant and an obvious neighborhood hangout where everyone know yer name

I LOVE this spot! It's such a cozy little spot with a fun boat theme. It looks like just a regular strip-mall restaurant from the outside, but once you enter you feel like you're on a boat! On top of the great atmosphere, the staff is super friendly. I don't know that I've ever met such friendly people working at a restaurant! Not only is the atmosphere and staff wonderful, but the food is a slam-dunk. I can't help it, but I get the same thing every time because it's so damn good! I get the chef salad. I know..BOR-ing! But this is the best one I've ever had! Boathouse Grill is definitely worth checking out.

We enjoy a friendly and cozy neighbor pub with good food, excellent service and this fits the bill. It reminds me of Major Tooley's in Chapel Hill back in the day for those who remember it. You're greeted warmly with a big smile and often by name. I use to be a regular here but the smoke and my asthma demanded I stop. That is NO longer an issue for those who experienced the smoking days. The atmosphere and conversation is lively with an abundant amount of laughter and chatter. The décor is tastefully done in maritime (close to Eagle Creek) with an eclectic mix of racing and humorous fines. Check out the gator head on your way to the restroom. The majority of the crowd is 35-60 with background rock and roll music playing that we all know. The perfect type of pub a person can get lost in for a lazy afternoon (free Wi-Fi), game day or fun night out for dinner. The outdoor patio, weather permitting, is a nice addition for those of us who love the sunshine. The menu has a nice selection from appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wraps or dinners with daily specials. Not everything is deep fried and the onion petals and fries are not greasy. The BLT, Club, Onion Petals, Fries, Spinach Dip, Calamari, and Wraps are a few of our favorites. Cindy, our very efficient server, is so nice, does a first-rate job and made us feel right at home. The bartender, darn I forgot her name, isn't a slacker either. She provides splendid service while chatting with patrons and is very competent to handles both very well. Certainly different from a few bartenders I've encountered recently who can either stand around and talk, and mainly talk, or serve the customers but not both. Reasonable prices, good food, craft beer, comfortable and decent size bar or tall top tables with booths available on upper level. Nice place for a drink, meal or simply get lost for a few hours watching a game or visiting with friends.

We really like this neighborhood bar. It has a good atmosphere and yummy pub food at a good price! My husband devoured his buffalo wings. I really liked the chowdah! Waitstaff was very nice and attentive. We will be back for sure.

No Babies Allowed! Wouldn't know how the food is, we were denied service because we have a 4 month old baby that was sleeping in her carrier quietly. Don't advertise yourself as an 'American Grill' if you are an adult bar.

I L-O-V-E this place!!!! It's a fantastic little hidden restaurant/bar near Eagle Creek Park on the Northwest side of Indianapolis. It doesn't look like much from the outside. The menu is diverse, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is very friendly. The food is absolutely delicious! There is a bar on the left side and a restaurant with booths on the other. If you call in an order for pickup, you're food is ready in 10-15 minutes. Just a fantastic restaurant/bar! I highly recommend it! My only complaint is that they have no root beer, but beggars can't be choosers, right?

Character, kindness, quality, all at the boathouse grill. This is a nice quiet spot to enjoy food and conversation. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming. The food is great and the service is representative of the small town genuine feel this place continues to offer just outside of the city of Indianapolis. I'll be back, again and again.

Wraps: Yes. Salads: Yes. Onion Pedals: OH YEAH! The Boathouse is one of those places that is pretty good all around for brews and bar food - except for those onion pedals, those are dynamite. I feel that my experience there has improved since Indiana went non-smoking, adding to the fact that it's primarily a bar. I like the blackened chicken wrap and they serve up a good portioned salad for lunch. I also dig the burgers. The Boathouse has potential, the menu has depth, it just doesn't get above and beyond where I think it could. Decent bar selection, some good craft beer on tap, friendly and family oriented staff, plenty of TV screens, and really cool maritime/auto-racing decor (surprisingly, the combination is pretty well done). They recently added-on a deck for outdoor seating in the seasonal months; I approve. The Boathouse is a go-to for our lunch crew on the west side, I know I'll be back - I just hope they can keep improving the experience.

Now that the smoke is gone it have to update my review and say this is a great little neighborhood bar. Decent bar food, a good mix of all sorts of people, reasonable drink prices and friendly staff.

Great food, menu may be small but packed with the food items you like. Soups, sandwiches, burgers, salads, wraps, main entrees, & even pizza. Atmosphere unique, check it out yourself

After going to Boathouse dozens of times, I have to say they have THE best clam chowder in the area. Really... just go try it. So good. On Tuesday nights they have a bacon-wrapped filet mignon wrapped in bacon, with 2 sides and a salad for $13. Pizza? Not so good. Everything else is solid.

This place is just a few miles from my office. Perfect place for lunch. Especially if you want to grab a quick beer. Amazing service, excellent bar food, good beer selection and great location. I highly recommend this place for a reasonable meal.

Stopped in for an early dinner on Sunday afternoon. After sitting for several minutes waitress brought menus and took our drink orders. Once she brought our beers, she never returned to our table. She did pass it several times and BLATENTLY ignored us. After we finished our beers we finally had to flag her down and told her since she was apparently too busy to serve us we would just pay for our beers and go somewhere else. Have NEVER gotten such poor service.

Small bar/grill at end unit of a shopping center building. We stopped there based on the other reviews. We stood near the door for a couple minutes as we weren't sure if we were to be seated or wait. Finally another customer commented "it's seat yourself". A very cheery employee stated she'd be with us shortly. The menu had plenty to choose from and the prices were reasonably low. We both ordered the bacon wrapped filet with garlic mashed potatoes ($12.95). The potatoes were decent, the filet...not so much. The place itself wasn't a bad looking bar. Seemed comfy for a gathering with a few friends for drinks but I don't think I'd go out of my way to eat dinner there again. I would give it a two stars for the food and the third was because the woman waiting on us was very personable and made the visit better than it would've been. Sorry guys, but I would definitely not recommend the filet here.

Close to work so I wanted to check this place out. I loved the decor, and the service was good. That said they only had 4 beers on tap. We ordered mozzarella sticks and they were fine, but the marinara was ice cold which sort of ruins it. We each got burgers, which were fine, but not great. All in all, good prices, good service, fine food, lame draft selection.

I LOVE this restaurant. Last night I had a $10.00 Filet Mignon dinner and it was excellent !! I especially like the owners, John and Joy. Joy is one of the nicest people I have met in Indiana. I moved out here from the East Coast a year ago and this has become one of my favorite places to eat and drink. The Clam Chowder is Excellent !! The other night I ordered a Gyro and it was exceptional !! Can't wait until football season, I will be living in the place !!

We stopped in for lunch on Sunday. The Grill had a nice crowd. You definitely get the local bar feel. Close to the Eagle Creek park. The service was warm and friendly and you felt you were at a party that if you visit more, you might be apart of the crowd. Seems like a good place for a beer and football. The food was great! We loved it and will be back. I may be addicted to the spinnaker dip. Delish! My husband says this is going to be our new place:)

Boathouse Grill is one of those places you take your friends to and they all like it. Ambience is dark, which is nice for dinner. Tall booths give a nice sense of separation from the people sitting behind and in front of you. The food is priced really well, and there's a good range of options on the menu. I almost always get the chicken fingers and fries - they take takeout orders on the phone, too. Great local bar, and free popcorn!

Boathouse Grill is located on W 56th St near the Colts complex. We have spotted both coaches and players hanging out here during our visits. The decor is boathouse themed with an actual boat hanging from the ceiling and the menus are even wood held together with string. There are good food specials daily and there are at least a few good beers on tap. I enjoy their pizza and wraps, but have also been disappointed by a few of the dishes. The "chicken fingers" are really just a fried chicken breast that they slice into strips and during my last visit I was discouraged by several people at the table from trying the tenderloin, because they said it isn't that good. Boathouse isn't divey and is pretty nice inside; the servers are really nice too. There really isn't any place like it located on this side of town.

Nice atmosphere, good service, but the food is very unspectacular. Pizza is good, not great. Very average bar food.

This place doesn't try to hide what it is behind some fru-fru sign or an elaborate menu. It's a neighborhood bar and grill that serves a tasty burger. Make sure you get the onion petals or a different side than french fries because the fries are crinkle cut out of a bag type fries. My friend Dan usually gets the club sandwich, but I'm a big fan of their burger or, if I'm not super hungry, I'll get the clamstrip appetizer. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It's a hole-in-the wall joint that makes a pretty good bloody mary AND they take itex. If you don't know what itex is, contact me.

Since the city went smoke free, this is a great place to go for a bite to eat and to throw a couple back. I think Tuesday is the bacon-wrapped filet special, tons of sides and an awesome filet for $10 last I was there... super value! Some of the wait staff is insanely great, my 2nd trip there was several weeks after my first and we had the same waitress and she remembered that I liked my filet cooked rare - super human memory??
