I've been here twice, and it's been great every time! The service is great, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is relaxed. They are generous with the alcohol in mixed drinks. I'm looking forward to going back again!

Since we moved, we hadn't been down to El Rodeo in a while. We were in the neighborhood for something else and decided to pop in for a late weekday lunch, about 3:00pm It wasn't very busy (their lunch crowd is closer to noon) and we were glad to be greeted and seated quickly. Our server was fantastic. He was very attentive and we quickly received drinks. After just a few minutes, our queso arrived, followed quickly by our meals. Since we were quite hungry (who waits until 3:00 for lunch???), it was a very pleasant surprise. Everything arrived very hot and fresh. We ordered the queso (no chorizo) dip, a couple of #10 plates (enchilada, burrito, taco), and a guacamole salad. At some places, you really can't tell a difference between the enchilada sauce and the burrito sauce, but here you could tell that they had a distinctive tomato based sauce for the burrito and a chili based sauce for the enchilada. I requested a cheese enchilada, instead of the standard beef that comes with the combo. Everything came correct and my cheese enchilada was quite tasty. I would definitely recommend adding lettuce or a guacamole salad to top the burrito. It adds a bit of freshness. (note: it is an additional charge for that)

It's nice to know about a decent Mexican restaurant to satisfy your craving in every nook and cranny of the Indy-metro area. This location will satisfy your basic need for Mexican food and apparently a ginormous margarita if you are southeast of the city. Overall, it was ok. Some dishes I felt were great where others were fine. The salsa has pretty good flavor, but nothing to write home about. It didn't have much spiciness, and spicier, green, or pico de gallo options were not offered. It was a Tuesday so it was burrito night and two burritos were offered, both under $9. I ordered the Burritos Mexicanos, and my companion ordered Pablos Burrito. By far the Pablos Burrito was better. It contained chorizo and steak and was topped with queso sauce. I ordered Burritos Mexicanos because it said they'd be smothered and I wanted some cheesy goodness. Also, I liked the option to get one beef burrito and one chicken burrito. They were not very warm, so they seemed less fresh. Also, the "smother" of cheese was more like a "sprinkle" and I wish there was a better more flavorful or rich sauce topping. I would go again, but order the Pablos Burrito instead of the Burritos Mexicano, or I would try something else on the menu. In general, it didn't disappoint, but it didn't delight me either. I was deciding between 2 and 3 stars, but because I would return and they had some decent specials, I gave this place the benefit of the doubt!

Overpriced for what you get. Queso was pretty good and huge. We had a party of four and all munched on it, leaving some on the table. I had the chicken tacos without tomato...I got 3 tortillas filled with chicken...nothing else. $2.75ea for that? I can get great tacos for less that from a street truck. Plus another $2 each for rice and beans. I have no problem paying the money if it's good, but it wasn't worth it. Food came out less than 2 minutes after we ordered. I love quick service but there's a line between quick and too quick. I like to feel that they've actually made it fresh and not just picked out of a trough.

Lunch Special #8: Enchilada, Burrito, choose Rice or Beans for $4.99. It was this or Subway. I got a flour tortilla wrapped around ground beef, a corn tortilla wrapped around ground beef, both covered in bland red sauce, and refried beans sprinkled with cheese. The cheese was the tastiest part of the meal. Bland, bland, bland. BUT super fast! The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa was ok. And for $5...I guess the quality matched the price. Service was fine, all the guys were polite enough. There's also outdoor dining.

The only reason I created a yelp for this business is because they stole $20 from my parents. We live about 2 miles away so we go there quite often to enjoy cheap Mexican food. It's a part of the el rodeo chain in Indianapolis. Basically the meal was $19 and my parents left a $4 or $5 tip. But when they checked their records they were charged $20 for a tip. I don't know how many people have had money stolen from them, but this cannot be over looked. If waiters and waitresses are changing the tips, this place needs to be shut down. Please be aware if you eat here and check your bank records after as well as keep your receipt.

My husband and I ate here for dinner. We were really surprised that you are charged $1 if you get a refill on chips and 50cents if you get a refill on salsa. WHAT?! We were sat toward the back (even though the place was almost empty) and it took forever for a server to come to our table. After he brought drinks, we told him we needed a minute to decide... and then he disappeared. We were standing up looking around, and eventually the guy from the front who sat us came back to ask how we were doing. We told him we'd been wanting to order, so he went to find out waiter. After that, the food came out fast and it was pretty good. It ended up being pricier than some of the other Mexican places we've tried nearby, and that was without getting chips and salsa refills. We weren't impressed and won't return.

Their chalupes are EXACTLY like Tacos Bells Tostadas. Their tamales have a funky masa . And there was nothing except ground up meat( resembling coffee grounds ) inside . No cheese. No beans. No lettuce . No tomatoes. $8.40 or so yeah no. On the up side I ordered a side of beans and cheese for the chips and a side of sour cream . Both were fabulous . And 1.99 fir the beans 1.00 for the sour cream they were GREAT nachos. I highly doubt i will be back for just beans and chips. but they took it off

I eat here often, as its close to home and have yet to have a bad visit. The service is lightning fast and the staff is friendly. I like a place where people are friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this location. Go for the Pablo's Burrito - it's delicious!

We have been going to this location a couple of times a month since it opened. They have excellent food and a great staff. The tacos al pastor and the chile pablanos are excellent.

This place has the best frozen margaritas. Get the pitcher. I also like that their food comes out HOT. Really a great mexican place. Also, I don't know if all the El Rodeos are as good as this one. The menu here is very good.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
