This is by far one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The food is always delicious especially during $1.25 taco Wednesday's. The owner and cook Miguel is awesome, super friendly and always cooks phenomenal meals. The steak is super tasty and I absolutely LOVE the homemade salsa. I've been looking for a lot of great hole in the wall places, and this is it!

El Burrito Loco.... Well, it has the feel of a very good authentic taqueria from the heavily Mexican clientele to the Jesus Mestizo Iconography hanging from the wall.....I found the place to actually be fairly clean though if you look to hard at the back of any taqueria you wont be seeing sparkling stainless steel tbh... The food...hmm, well I also had a steak burrito with red sauce and I must concede it was fairly bland. Lots of steak, but not lots of flavor. The meat was SUPER cheap and there were a lot of chewy morsels and some actual grisel...which I dont enjoy myself. The portion was huge and the price was right though. Im not ready to totally write them off though bc the tacos and tortas I saw other patrons munching on looked great. But for Burritos the order of the day in the area is still El Famous Burrito imho...

I wish I had read the reviews first. I stopped in while my car was being serviced across the street. It wasn't the worst burrito I've ever had, but I don't have any reasons to go back, either.

    Disappointing. Bland chicken. What gives?

I'm surprised no one has told Yelp how gross the food is here. This place doesn't have very good Mexican food especially when you have El Famous Burrito right down the road. I stopped here for lunch once because El Famous was swamped due to dollar tacos. The place's floors were so slimy I had trouble standing with my wet boots on. I got a steak burrito and it was bland. I dumped 2 red sauces on this thing and it was still bland. And then it didn't sit right, and made me have a sit night, and you know what that is. Next I got some dollar tacos when a coworker went over there. Supposedly he knows a guy over there, so I was expecting some good eats. I got pork tacos with onion and cilantro. They were OK. I say OK because they cost a dollar each. If they were $1.10 then I would say they sucked. In Wheeling there is one place for tacos, and Burrito Loco is not it. PS The sign says Burrito Loco, but the menus say Burrito Bronco? PPS This is not the same as the Burrito Loco that is delicious in Naperville and DeKalb

NOTE: The sign on this location says El Burrito Loco, but the menus inside say El Burrito Bronco (maybe a change in ownership as some other yelpers have mentioned?) This summer, my friend and I are on a mission to find the best burrito that no one knows about (aka little taquerias that most people don't know about). Our first stop on this mission took us to El Burrito Loco (Bronco?), and I must say that it was a nice start to the Search for the Perfect Burrito. My friend and I each got a burrito loco. I got mine with steak and my friend got his filled with pork. The steak was pretty ordinary in my opinion. It was a little too chewy and could have used some more flavor. The salsa that they put on top of the burrito is pretty interesting - not quite spicy, and more sweet if anything (it actually reminded me of a mole sauce). In any case, the steak tasted better when dipped into this salsa. As for my friend's pork burrito, I didn't get to taste it, but he said it was really good, so I'll probably try that the next time I come here. The restaurant atmosphere was decent. The dining room was clean, but the kitchen seemed a little dirty. Overall, a good place to start if you're looking for the perfect burrito, but by no means is it the perfect burrito. Still tasty though!

I was surprised by Mike M's review, as I've popped by here on a few occasions (usually after hitting Carneceria Jimenez for whatever dried pepper I'm out of) and been thoroughly satisfied. Then again, I've gotten things with chicken and avocado; maybe the difference is there? Anyway, my taqueria standards are pretty high, and this has been more than fine for a quick bit out this way. Nothing out of this world, but good, basic, filling food. Their chicken in particular is moist and nicely spiced, and happily, they don't shred it into a dry mess the way other places in the neighborhood do. I'm also not that impressed by El Famous Burrito, though. Guess I don't like my food football-sized. Now that will give you a sit night. P.S. It is Burrito Loco on the sign and Burrito Bronco on the menus; maybe a change in ownership but not enough money to change the sign? I like Burrito Bronco better.

Authentic, made to order fresh and delish! The steak tacos are my fave . They are very friendly, don't mind special orders and have excellent service. Always very clean and way reasonable price for the amount of ingredients they put on everything. Bonuses include 9 am opening on weekdays and 8 am on weekends & Dollar Tacos on Wednesdays. Highly recommended!!

Place was filthy- food almost inedible. Owner has no honor or ethics. Bought an offer off of DOUBLETAKE (a groupon-like local site) and, after collecting the money, they would not honor their contract. If he didn't understand what he was doing when he signed up, he shouldn't take his stupidity out on the customer. This is fraud. It's immoral and unethical. Unfortunate. Here is the pic to prove it.

I'm a big critic of posole and their posole is pretty good but they only have it on Sabado y Domingo. It has a good spice to it. Slightly picante. The staff is super cool and the tacos are made traditionally. They have many other menu items that are not on the menu. Visiting for work here in western suburbs of Chicago, this place made me feel like I was at home.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
