We've been coming here for quite some time and the food is always very good. The green chili is excellent and you can ask for extra hot. Put that on a burrito with guacamole and sour cream and it's heavenly! Their crispy chili rellenos also very good. We don't go for the ambiance, just good food.

Consistently good Mexican food! As Edgewater residents, we were faithful customers of La Cascada for years. After moving a few miles away, we forgot about this place. But after a disappointment with a neighborhood Mexican joint last weekend, we sought out La Cascada again. We weren't disappointed here. Nothing about this place has changed, except for the better! Portions are generous, service is rapid and friendly, and most importantly, everything is GOOD! La Cascada doesn't pretend to be anything but classic Denver-Mexican fare, but it always delivers. Everything's well-seasoned, the lettuce is iceberg but fresh, and the guac is always perfect. We went on a Friday evening, and the place was well-populated but not crowded. Drinks and chips/salsa arrived immediately. Our orders followed, on HOT plates. We both had the #7 combo plate and a guac tostada. Portions were large enough to require a take-home box. We left full and satisfied. The superstar: the soft chile relleno. SO good! Yes, it's located in a mostly abandoned strip mall. But that just means more parking for you! The area is due for redevelopment that's been long-promised and is finally about to happen. So get yourselves here while the parking is plentiful and the prices remain a bargain!

You don't have to worry about parking at Cascada, because it's in an otherwise abandoned strip mall with a mere liquor store a few hundred feet away. Walk in and you'll find a Mexican-Kitsch place where, for example, a lone strand of tinsel dangles from a ceiling tile and a few faded pictures of Catholic icons dot the walls. I'm pretty sure this place is run by a family. They quickly got up to bring me chips and salsa as I sat down. While the puree-style salsa was fresh, flavorful, and spicy, the chips were a little stale. I was, for a time, the only patron. I ordered a chicken mole and out came a thigh and a leg full of slow-cooked goodness. The tender fall-off-the-bone meat soaked up a Oaxaca-style (I believe) mole; it was thinner and milder than the pablano-heavy mole I'm used to, but it also soaked into the chicken beautifully. And all of this for just a little money! Cascada is the real deal: it's like you're eating out of an immigrant kitchen and a Mexican grandma is cooking just for you. So go, eat, and be happy.

The good: this place is very clean. The service was really good as well. Very prompt and very friendly. The just ok: the chips were stale, but the salsa was very spicy which I like. As I'm on the quest for the perfect mole' I decided to try this place. They don't have mole' enchaldas on the menu so I decided on just the chicken. Their mole' is a bit on the bitter side and there wasen't a whole lot of spice. It was just ok. The chicken pieces were quite small as well. Although I came her specifically for the mole' and was disappointed I will come back to try other items on the menu.

We live close by. We order the flautas every time and they hit the spot every time! Their green chile is yummy! Fast and friendly service.

We ordered a bunch of different menu items for 4 people and none of us enjoyed our meal. All disappointed. Even the rice was terrible, I mean come on. Not worth checking out just for you folks on the fence about trying it.

Excellent family-run authentic Mexican food. Hidden away with plenty of parking. I highly recommend the Carne Asada tacos.

Pretty funny how the other reviewer ripped this humble family establishment over a dispute regarding a beer special. One star because of that? What a b*tch! The food was awesome, margaritas were even better, staff and service extremely pleasant! We are so glad to have found this place. I love that it's just a little place in a strip mall that's run by a single family. We felt bad arriving 10 minutes before they closed but they welcomed us and insisted we stay. I wish all the best for the family behind this business. Typical American businesses could learn a lot from La Cascadia! My new favorite in Denver! A "best kept secret" no doubt.

This was another take out experience on our god-dammit-we-just-moved-in-and-still-haven't-found-the-box-with-out-plates dining tour. Generally speaking I think Mexican food in Denver kinda blows. Don't get me wrong, there are highlights and living on the west side of town definitely helps but I moved here from California a few years ago and the Mexican just isn't the same. That being said, this is a solid neighborhood taco joint. It definitely gets the job done when you just need a decent burrito and you don't feel like cooking after work (or, you know...you just moved and STILL CAN'T FIND THE FORKS!). The menu had a decent variety, the food was good and the service was quick. We got take out, walked through the abandoned shopping center (props to Cascada for holding it down!) and ate our food in the nearby park which was nice. Not the most amazing food I've ever had but still pretty darn good.

Salsa was tasty even though it was puréed, however chips are stale. Food reminds me of Casa Bonita which is not to far away. I came here because of the reviews, however I was not impressed the rice was bland the beans a liquified and the guacamole seems like it came from a tube. I'm giving two stars because the staff is very friendly but unfortunately the food does not match.

Very unimpressed. The food here is sub par, it tastes as though it is fried in rancid oil and the chips are not fresh. The service is also very slow. This place is not even a contender in this part of town where it is so saturated with great mexi restaurants. I will not be back.

Love this place! Great little local place in Edgewater. I love the green chili. I recommend the chili rellanos or tacos al carbon though I hear other foods are just as good! Been coming here for years and the staff has always been very welcoming . Only reason I don't give 5 stars is I agree with other reviews that the chips seem stale. Feel the salsa is inconsistent . Everything else has been consistently good for me though. Always hits the spot!

Food-4.5 Service-4.5 After living less than a block away for the past year, I finally ate at La Cascada. The food was really good! I ordered the Carnitas plate like I normally do and it was very good. It looked small because the actual plate size was smaller than most Mexican food places, but I had leftovers. The best part of the meal was that margaritas are only $3 which is about half as much as I usually pay. Our server was very nice as well. Great place.

I eat here 1-2 times per week. I love this place. The food is always good. I usually get the carne asada which is huge and at $15 is more expensive than most items on the menu. The fajitas are good to share with a friend if you order extra tortillas. The only complaint I have is that the salsa varies in heat by the day, sometimes so hot the rest of my family doesn't like it. That is probably a good thing because it means they make it themselves. This gets 5 stars from me due to the value and consistent quality, but don't go if you're looking for some uppity overpriced snob haven. The owners are down to earth hard working people. Btw, their burgers and pancakes are surprisingly good, better than most American restaurants.

Don't let this unassuming restaurant in an area that once housed a King Soopers fool you. The chicken flautas are hot and crispy, smothered in green chili and served with dollops of sour cream and guacamole. We also love their tamales and green chili. Very friendly wait staff and you can count on getting your meal quickly, hot and fresh. We've brought out of town guest here and they've all enjoyed the food. Great for lunch or dinner.

This is a regular lunch choice for us, sometimes I even go in for the soft, tender rellenos for breakfast! Nice, hot chips and good homemade salsa. They are very sweet to my boy, which is a big selling point for me. Nice service, genuinely happy to see you. Clean and quick. Try it!

We recently tried La Cascada as it is located very close to our house, though loyal to another local Mexican Restuarant. The first time we were pleasantly surprised by the food and the weekly drink special which was advertised as being 2 for 1 beers. We went back last night and again had pretty good food but upon receiving our bill did not get the 2 for 1 discount on the drinks. We asked the waitress and she informed us that the special was no longer valid. Interestingly though, the advertisement cards were still on the tables. When I pointed that out to her she perceeded to pull all of the cards. Granted this was only about $5 but I felt very uncomfortable about the situation and confused as to why they didn't honor what the physical advertisement said and remove the cards later. Needless to say we will not return and instead will stick with our original favorite. It was also interesting that we were the only people in the resturant when this happened...

I have eaten at La Cascada many times, and have taken several friends and family members there. The food is excellent, and their carnitas nachos are very addicting! The small family owned restaurant isn't the usual flashy, exspensive type of Mexican restaurant, but is a quaint, clean, and very friendly atmosphere in which to enjoy a delicious meal, with very reasonable prices...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
