Definitely recommend this place. Everything here was amazing, the staff were conversational and polite, atmosphere was good and laid back, the music wasn't overly loud, the food was delicious and the portions were much bigger than we expected. We came during happy hour and got a good deal on our drinks. Overall, a great experience!

Could've been 5 stars but they can't cook to order. I had the super yummy honeydew burger and asked for medium well but I got rare. If it was quality meat rare or medium rare is fine by me but when it's a frozen patti, rare is gross. I ate the edges which were great. No sweet potato fries is a minus. The $10 margarita was poor too, a lot like the basic one at Chilis, lots of tart lime and little booze. I'll come back and make sure it's cooked properly

This is our first time here! The Patio is awesome and great for people watching on Main Street! It was full when we got here so we went to the bar. We just ordered a drink when a table freed up outside and they came to get us. The bartender Kate was really nice and had No problem transferring out drinks to our server Lindsey outside. Lindsey was super sweet and friendly. We shared the Smoked Terk Wings (amazing flavor) and the Honeydew Beef burger. Sauce was really good but maybe a bit smothered. Burger was cooked perfectly! The fries are MOUTHWATERING! I had to fight for the last one! Oh and the pickles are crunchy and Delicious I HAD to share the last bite! Definitely coming back for more with friends!

Rolled into town and immediately started Yelping the best place to eat. If I had to claim one, I'd make the Canteen my top choice. The selection of beers and burgers tops the charts. I was blown away by the Honeydew: Cream cheese, honey, and green chilies atop a beautifully cooked burger. Mouth-watering and juicy, flavorful, and I could go on and on with the adjectives. The Canteen has great service, a nice comfortable patio to watch the street from, and excellent food. I could tell we were in the right spot because everyone around us was chatting about how excellent the food was. We chose the Honeydew over the Cuban.... it was a difficult decision. Next time, the Cuban will be mine...

Amazing entrees and apps! I loved the flatbread pizza and the unique tap selection. The staff is friendly too!

We went here TWICE during our stay in Breckenridge, and that says something because I'm typically all about trying as many new places as possible when I go on vacation. Great selection of beers, interesting menu but not SO interesting that my picky husband couldn't find something he absolutely loved (which is rare--the Honeydew sandwich w/grilled chicken). Very laid back atmosphere. Just a great place to grab some delicious food with family and friends.

Our second time at The Canteen and not disappointed. The service was excellent - friendly and attentive. We started off with the Queso Fundido, which was average. However, our entrees kicked a$$. The fish sandwich is amazing, the bacon wrapped shrimp and the Reuben were tasty and filling; and, the ribs were smokey, falling off the bone and delicious! A great addition to the Breck food scene.

I went to the Canteen on a whim, was really impressed by the food and the chill atmosphere. The service was fun while on par with what I'd expect. Loved that they sell all Colorado brews! Canteen drinks are strong and tasty. I'll be back. Often.

This is the spot to be in Breck. The drinks are stiff the service is good (even for large groups) and the ribs make you want to slap your mama. I mean it. ORDER THE RIBS. You will not be disappointed. The mac and cheese is freakin delish too. All the food I saw at our table and was able to taste was devine, ut the RIBS is where it's at. ORDER THE RIB AND GET EXTRA SAUCE!!!! OMMMGEEE!!!!! RIBS RIBS RIBS. I subbed the fries for sweet ones and even the slaw was home made, I didn't care for it. I never liked cole slaw. There is a second level and they do take reservations, so call ahead. The cocktails were mixed properly and they had a good selection of brew. Back to the ribs: The ribs were so tasty I came back the next day. I felt like a crack fiend. I didn't want to share them with anyone.

I wasn't overly impressed with the food. Got the ribs and they were dry. Ordered the shrimp as an appetizer and had to send them back because they were too chewy and new order wasn't much better. Like the new decor but I miss the old Steak and Rib.

Great staff and even better food. They had me at Spam musubi, but then I had the Cuban "B" burger and while I almost couldn't move after finishing it, it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Went back a 2nd time and had the adult grilled cheese with roasted red pepper soup which was perfect for a chilly late May day. The beer selection is large, and though I didn't have a cocktail, the ones I saw served looked great. Very attentive staff, and they will soon have a 2nd Breck location open! Can't wait to get back!

Sometimes, you literally stumble into a place for a reason, and you are sure glad you did. My wife and I came here on the advice of a local, and shortly after being seated I began to find myself feeling the affects of the change in altitude (we had just arrived from sea level). Not only did they take time to take great care of me while waiting for the EMT to arrive, but they also sent my wife and I home with dinner - completely complimentary. We went back two days later, to a warm welcome and had a couple of drinks at the bar. The whole staff made us feel like locals, which is just what you want when you are away from home. So, while I can't exactly review the food, I give this place five stars for service over and above the call of duty, and recommend it to anyone visiting town. Tell Mike the "guy who passed out" sent you.

Here is another place in Breck we just happened upon! Cycling down Main Street in the morning, I note the sign "The Canteen Taphouse and Tavern". I was excited to report another taphouse possibility to my boyfriend, the ever searching for a beer bar lover. After dinner one evening I coxed him to walk a bit further down Main Street to look for the sign I saw. He was a bit apprehensive at first. After all, a Taphouse is not a brewery, usually, and he wanted something other than just a bar. This was another newer place that was not around on our last visit. We only stopped in at the bar and did not try their food, sorry cannot speak to the food menu. I can speak to the bar ambiance and menu. It's a cozy low ceilinged area. You get the old house / shack feel. There are two TVs we used to watch basketball and the Hawks. The bartender was great, funny and gave interesting facts (Google Miracle Mike the Chicken - go figure!). Back to the beers; we were celebrating our last night in town and a successful biking trip. So we went big with a sour (the menu online has not been updated in awhile), I had the Epic Brainless on Raspberries and then an Apricot beer (I'm on a fruit kick lately as it turns warmer). The sour was not the best so the boy went with a darker barley wine. Strangest brown sugar taste I've had in a barley wine. It was super delicious. I was so glad the place had a great beer selection to appease my picky beer-brewer boyfriend.

Really enjoyed this place! I am not too familiar with Breckenridge but this restaurant came highly recommended by several friends who visit frequently as well as from the locals. Great location steeped in great Breck history (the host filled us in on it) ery cute location. Really nice atmosphere.....friendly/attentive staff.. service was great. Wine, beer and drink list - awesome! Food was excellent - I had the Ahi tuna salad and my husband had ribs. It was so good! I would definitely recommend this place.

By far one of the best dinning experiences I've had in a while. We came by with two dogs (one being 120lbs) the patio was almost full so I verified that both dogs wouldn't be in the way. The lady who sat us told me they step around dogs all the time and not to worry. They brought the dogs water and moved us tables (once it cleared out) to have some shade for the dogs. We had an awesome male server plus all the ladies he was working with all came by at least once to check on us. Our server specifically started up conversation and was really kind and on his game the whole time. Never once did drinks go dry and our burgers were awesome! I had the honeydew burger with bison and my bf had the bbq burger with beef. Plus we had Moscow mules that were incredible (especially for the price) It really is great to see such team work and friendliness in a place. I feel like a lot of restaurants don't have that vibe anymore. Plus great food and drinks.. Who knows I might be back from Denver in the near future.

3 stars means "A-OK" and that is a perfect description. It's plenty good and would consider returning, but it didn't knock us out. 1) Burgers were good but not amazing. The bun was "eh." Definitely interesting flavors mixed in with the burgers and tasted really good. 2) on the honeydew burger, it says it's topped with green chiles, cream cheese, honey, and mustard. Mine came with green chile cream cheese and honey mustard. Very different than it read. 3) They serve diet pepsi. I just don't get it. 4) The brownie sundae was awful. first, it was a huge cakey, dry brownie that was overheated, topped with runny vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a cherry. that's more brownie a la mode than a sundae. the ice cream was boring, the brownie was bad, and when i told the waitress, she was like, "oh, sorry." To be fair, my son found it edible and ate a bit part of it so it's not like we took one bite and left it alone, but i thought that was an odd response. We don't drink, so can't comment on that. If you're looking for something different and don't mind prices 20-30% higher than the breck brewery, this could be a good place for you.

Great service, atmosphere and food! We came into town to ride the Gondola to the fun park atop the ski hill and enjoy the town. Stopped into the Canteen, and had their southwest salad, wedge salad, chili fries and chipotle shrimp. We cleaned our plates. The server was attentive and sweet. Definitely will be back when in Breckenridge!

We were here for Labor Day and they obviously didn't expect the rush that they had. They were out of a lot of items and this left the waiter trying to explain the shortage. This only affected our meal, since they had run out of fries and potatoes. The food was good, so there was no complaints there. The waiter had a good attitude, but a little overwhelming with conversation. Seemed liked a good place to get a bite to eat on a normal night. I would be willing to try again if the opportunity was there.

Excellent choice. The Hoss Burger was top notch. My daughter had the pulled pork and my wife had the Mac and Cheese with the pork and both were a meal and a half. The service was good and the food came out as expected. Had to wait about 15 mins over Labor Day weekend, make a reservation for faster service. Great beer menu, a must try when on Breckenridge.

This was our first time to Breckinridge and had heard the Canteen was the place to go. We had reservations set weeks in advance and where put into one of the worst tables ever stuffed in the back. Our server acted as if she had better things to do then to give us a run down of the menu. The first, second and third choice of beer my wife wanted was on the menu but not available. We split a couple of items and enjoyed them but the bad taste was already there.

I was just talking to my husband about how there's a real lack of breweries with good food. We live in Portland and there's plenty of good beer, but the food is generally average. I was in Breckinridge for a bachelorette and the crew strolled in here for a late lunch and some cold brews. This place really blew us all away! Incredible beer selection and food options were tasty and not just your run-of-the-mill pub fare. I had the pork green chile...spicy and flavorful ($8). Some other girls had salads and burgers and everyone raved about their food. The service was fantastic and our server exceeded expectations when she split the bill before we asked, including the appetizer 6-ways! She was even kind enough to recommend other good places (competitors) in the area for our weekend getaway. Would definitely come back again.

Stumbled upon this place and it was outstanding. Beer selection is pretty good. There is probably about 15-20 taps and even a couple sours. We had the Seven Day Sour, Vert Gueuze by Trinity Brewing & 471 IPA by Breckenridge Brewery. Both beers were outstanding! The sour was particularly interesting and if you have never had a sour or are new to sour beers you must try. Small dining area and seating is pretty scarce. Did not try any food.

The Canteen is superb and has all the makings to become a Breckenridge icon. First and foremost, stop in for the Colorado beer. Canteen's draft beer list ranges from classics of the Breckenridge Brewery to seasonal brews of Colorado breweries. For the truly devout, try the Barmen Pilsner (a traditional, German seven-minute pour) sold in only a few bars in the country and a true gem of Golden, Colorado. If you're not in the mood for beer, explore Canteen's well curated wine cellar or its specialty cocktails and martinis. Next, prepare your body and spirit for Canteen's epic eats. Canteen is not serving up boring bar junk, rather, I'm talking the perfect, rare blend of gastro-pub, mountain heartiness and flavor. I highly recommend the queso (with sublime, flavorful chorizo), jerk wings (brined, smoked and flash fried) and BBQ pulled pork sandwich (served open face on melt-in-your-mouth sourdough toast). Bonus points for proper New Mexican pork green chile and truly competitive mac n cheese. Much of the menu is perfect for group drinking and munching, but equally great for a sit down dinner with your hiking/skiing buddies, family or man-friend. The portions are generous and the prices are utterly reasonable. Park yourself at the bar, outdoor patio, group tables or solo tables, and relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air with a drink or burger in hand. I am thrilled Canteen came to Breckenridge and can't wait to go back. Places like this are what keep a mountain village alive and thriving.

Just left the Canteen Tap House and Tavern, and this is truly one of the few places that 5 stars should be reserved for. The restaurant is located in Breckenridge, which of course is known for skiing. Currently it is off season and the crowd is a smaller. From the moment we arrived everyone at this establishment treated us as if we were family and had known them for years. The place was full downstairs so they put us up stairs and we had a postcard view of the mountains. It was spectacular. The staff told us about the history of the building from a mining cabin to present day. Then recommendations on beer were made and they were spot on. We ordered appetizers, I only ate the spicy hot wings and they had a good deep smoke flavor tied into the spice. The wings were hot, but not too hot. Just right in my opinion. Then we ordered our main dish and this was the best part. I ordered the half rack of ribs and the skirt steak. The ribs were the best I've ever had. Fall off the bone and not the bad way were people boil them for convenience. This are the real deal, drive 12 hours for ribs, ribs. The steak was really good too, but the ribs are the best. Now I must highly applaud the staff. We were there and had a child in our party become sick. Rough day, lots of activity, and ate too fast. We attempted to clean up and apologized for the mess that was made. They couldn't have been more helpful, friendly, and understanding to our circumstance. They asked our plans in town and helped us find information on fun family friendly events for everyone in our group. I truly hope that this review adequately reflects the outstanding job that this organization does. I hope that you will support them as a small local business that could serve as the business model of great product and first class customer service. Thank you for everything, Dave

Happy to have another casual dinner option in Breck. We popped in at 5pm to get a fast early dinner. The bar on the 1st floor was busy with après ski folks (many still wearing ski boots) and we were sat upstairs. Lots of people filled in. Friendly service during our time there. I got the Big Hoss no BBQ sauce with fries and I ate it all. I was hungry and it was good. My guy got another burger with cream cheese and jalapeños and really liked the heat. We were in and out in 45 minutes.

Stopped in for dinner with my two sons (10 & 12) at about 6:00 PM on a lovely Saturday evening. Expectations met/exceeded, stomachs full. I would return The restaurant was not too busy and we were seated immediately upstairs. Linnie was our server. She was attentive, had a good memory and a good sense of humor. She keep the water coming for two thirsty hockey players. The boys each ordered the pulled pork sandwiches which were generous and massive, and ended up being completely devoured. Fries were crispy. I ordered the 'Merica burger which was also massive and very good. Excellent selection of local beers. Several other things on the menu looked interesting, warranting a return.

What a find! While I typically scour Yelp before trying someplace new, we actually stumbled into this one on our own! We were in need of a après pit stop since the hubby had a rough day on the mountain. We tried stopping in T-Bar at Peak 8, but it was of course crowded with snow bunnies that were pretending to have skiied and it was way too crowded to even deal with trying to get a drink so we figured we'd try Main Street instead....and jackpot! After packing up our stuff, we left our car in the gondola lot and walked to Main St. and stopped at the first place we saw, which was the Canteen! We didn't indulge in food, but had plenty of beer and other tasty libations that put the hubby in a much better mood. I love the ambiance in this place and the bartenders were really quite chummy. They have a pretty decent cocktail list and a nice selection of drafts. I did take a quick peek at the menu and know we'll have to come back for some food the next time we're in Breck. And to top it off - a beer was about half the cost of what it'd be on the mountain!!

Great food, great service, great spot, great beer and wine list, great views. Great everything and they have their own parking lot on Main St. The servers are all so friendly and inviting. Lynndsey was our server and she was awesome. Great Breck vibe and good music. We had the carnivore flatbread, Reuben and ahi tuna salad. All very very good. I highly recommend.

Lived in Breck for 15 years. Came back for a vacation and liked to try the new restaurants. This one was mediocre at best. 1) hamburgers in the one size fits all 8oz portion. No other choice, but a smaller child's portion. Not everybody eats that much at lunch. 2) Service was mediocre, at best. 3) Parking is as usual in Breckenridge, literally non existent, 4) food was simply run of the mill 5) and WORSE we were seated in a section with several families whose children were ill mannered and loud. (would probably not have been a problem on the deck). Cleanliness and decor were mediocre. This place is on my been there, done that, won't bother to come back. If I want a decent hamburger and beer, I'll go down to Burke and Riley's.

On their menu they show 'GF' by multiple items for gluten-free, which made me excited until I found out they have no gluten-free bun for their burgers or bread for sandwiches. Service was poor, location was great, food was very good.

The food was really good, for the prices, the environment could be more eclectic. A really good salad, salmon was very special and the chicken thighs. Their apricot beer was awesome.

Awesome place right off main street. Decor is a mix of old school Colorado and a dive bar. Looks great. 16 beers on tap. Food selection is nice. I had the 'merica burger with a bison patty. If on main street again would come back.

Owners are incredibly personable and helpful. Definitely take pride in their business. Beer selection is awesome! Food was delicious. Mostly fresh ingredients, I think they do what they can for that as far as local foods. Try not to order things you know aren't easy to get in Breckenridge, as those food items won't be as fresh or good. (Ie: guacamole.) Loved the ambiance and the staff. Definitely recommend! Little off the beaten path so it's not overly annoying busy, thankful for that and worth the walk!

Meal was great from A-Z. Attentive to kids. Great food, drinks, and service. You can tell the owner is attentive. We're from KC and they had great ribs and Surf & Turf. Try the vanilla stout beer and berry muddled mojito.

The place has a great vibe and delicious drinks. The Cantenn Ahh rita is very tasty and served in a fun canteen to complete the experience. Great place to sit at the bar and just hang. The food was kind of a let down. My spinach salad was pretty good- especially with the egg yolk broken down onto it. But the bacon vinaigrette wasn't nearly as flavorful as I had hoped. The pork green chile was OK but not nearly enough heat. It was studded with corn which is just not my thing. I want to see lots of chiles! We asked for some hot sauce (pretty sure it was Frank's) and that did help. My friends had the mac and cheese which sounded much better on paper than in execution. Too much pasta, not enough cheese, and the flavor was a bit bland. We also had a BBQ pork sandwich which was enjoyed. Kudos for having tons of gluten free options that are clearly marked and a good selection of items for all types of eaters. I definitely think this is a fun atmosphere and would be a great place to hang out after skiing or for a casual dinner or lunch in the mountains.

Love this new place! We were here at the end of February 2014. We frequent Breckenridge quite often and were happy to try a new restaurant. We ate here late the night we got into town, around 8 or so, so we weren't super hungry. Very fun atmosphere. Started out with a margarita-the Canteen Ahh rita-not my favorite, too much orange juice, but maybe I just don't like orange juice in my margarita. It came in a little silver bucket, so it was cute. Everyone loved their drinks and meal, so I would definitely come again, just order a different drink for me. My husband and I split the macaroni and cheese and a pizza and they were both very good.

Great happy hour meal with the wife and 11 and 9 year old. Good selection of brews and wines too. Meals were excellent and service was spot on. Had the gumbo which was a meal within itself. Wife had green chili bowl and loved it.

According to locals this restaurant is new in town, springing from the same owners of Eric's Downtairs (sports bar)I felt like i walked into "Cheers"(where everybody knows your name) we were treated like old friends from the get go! Our waitress was Larissa was attentive and very helpful.I ordered a fish fillet and coleslaw. My Husband decided on a side salad and the sweet chili wings. The side salad arrived and it was the size of an entree salad, beautiful spring mix, tomatoes, carrots, red onion w/ creamy homemade ranch. The wings were generous sized and just lil sweet with just a kick of spice. My fish sandwich was gigantic ,Wahoo was used for the fillet( very delicate flavored white fish )crispy battered, very light, with cheese, with the best tartar sauce was lemony and bright, served with a set-up of lettuce, tomato, red onion on a buttery crispy bun.Yummy for my tummy! The coleslaw was sweet and tangy,a nice compliment to the sandwich. We were stuffed because we didn't wanna give up one morsel.

Christopher ( server) set the tone for a great meal. Service is key and Canteen delivered from server, to food to friendliness. BBQ pulled pork was over the top fantastic and complimented the Barmen 7 minute pour beer. So frigging good. Ribs were good but skip the extra sauce. Too spicy and you miss the gentleness of the properly smoked ribs. Salads were huge and definitely split between 2-3 of you. Flatbread with BBQ pork was perfect. Just a wonderful balance of food-SERVICE-fun atmosphere.

Recommended but only average, this seems more of a "Cheers" place for the townsfolk than a good place to eat for visitors. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the seared tuna salad; it arrived on a plate overflowing with greens to the point where I had difficulty forking anything off of it without something (a radish, a cucumber, a leaf of lettuce) falling onto the tabletop. They also could have been a bit heavier on the dressing and tuna. I felt like the ginger dressing was all in one spot--somewhere deep inside the bottomless pit of greenery--and, while it was delicious when I got a taste of it, those delightful moments were few and far between bite-fuls of vegetable. All in all: Meh.

This place is Breck's best kept secret. Everything here is great. The burgers are to die for and so are the crispy fresh fries. Our friend ordered the Mahi Mahi fish sandwich. It was delish. Servings are huge. Go hungry. Price is so reasonable for the quality!

I feel terrible it has taken this long for me to get this review written for this awesome place! My husband and I came here back in February and are so glad we did. The staff and the owner were so personable and amazing and such a fun fun atmosphere too. The food was awesome and the drinks were refreshing. You can really tell that the owner takes pride in his restaurant and makes sure to hire the most friendly and attentive staff too. Make sure to hit this place up after a day of skiing or whatever your fancy is.

Nice, casual dinner spot. We made a reservation for dinner through OpenTable and were a little worried when we walked in and saw the packed and noisy bar area. But then the hostess took us upstairs to the spacious--and relatively uncrowded--dining area and we sat down to an enjoyable meal. We enjoyed our mix of appetizers and main courses, which were all good though not standout. Most people will find something they like on the menu, which is a bit eclectic. The chef has spent time in Hawaii, which explains the spam musubi--while not really authentic, it was still a nice surprise to find in a landlocked state.

This place was awesome. Got a &10 Moscow mule in a mini pale. I know it sounds weird but get it. Also got the Cuban burger which I devoured. Food and drinks were excellent. Our waitress very sassy and fun. Service was a bit slow for it not being crowded but we managed just fine. Definitely recommend it

This atmosphere is very cozy and dark. We ate upstairs and although the windows were open, it was a little warm for my liking. There is a wide selection of beers and other mixed drinks. I got the "JD" which was Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka with lemonade and tea. Perfect for a hot day! The food was very tasty as well. Several of us got the different flatbreads and different burgers... We all enjoyed our meals and would go back! What was another bonus was the exceptional service we had!

My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience this evening. So glad we came to The Canteen. Our server Josh was attentive and knowledgable. We started with a few brews and a Queso that was the best we ever had. The chips are house made and very fresh. On the recommendation of our server we had the Ribs and the Half Chicken Dinners. Honestly, these dinners were SO good. The ribs fell off the bone and the accompanying fries and slaw cannot be beat. The chicken dinner was exceptional. It came with red potatoes snd white beans with bacon and other spices. The restaurant is comfortable and the restrooms are clean. The owner came around to check on the patrons and was receptive to comments. I would highly encourage you to go to The Canteen.

We came here after reading the reviews and were very disappointed in both the food, atmosphere and service. Bottom line upfront: This restaurant is not child friendly and my family will not be returning. If you're here with any child - skip this restaurant and head somewhere else. My family and another were seated in the bar while a large amount of open tables were left that way during the course of our entire stay. I thought - if you're seating families in a bar that's it's fairly toned down space - nope. The never ending stream of profanity coming from the table next to us was breathtaking - and I'm a military veteran! I almost walked out. The food was, well, underwhelming. My Chipotle shrimp arrived burnt and I wasn't going to send it back as I needed to get out of there as quickly as possible. Which brings me to service. We saw a waitress for our order, to drop off our food and then we waited...and waited....and waited for our check. Did I mention the number of empty tables? There was no excuse.

Wow so amazing & accommodating! Friendly great service with tasty food! Loved everything we ate: the pepper bisque, grilled cheese, fries, & the ribs. But all food that came out around us looked so yummy & they all raved how great it was. A must eat!

Based on the high reviews, we took family who were in town visiting... wish we had chosen somewhere else. It's hard to understand the high reviews. The table was dirty (and when the waitress brought our straws, she put them down on the nasty table) as was the bathroom. The food was just so-so. The best things going for this place are the outdoor seating with a nice view and a good beer/drink selection.

The food and service was so good that we went twice in two days. They accommodated for 10 and 12 people very quickly and friendly (with reservations) I will go back when I'm back in town

Great addition to downtown Breck! Yummy wings, delicious burgers, family friendly, great staff. Will definitely be back!!

Walked into establishment on a tuesday and the host asked if we had a reservation. This did not sound good. But he quickly gave us a heads up for a table that was in the bar area that was going to open up soon. Ordered burgers and wings. Burgers were awesome and the wings good. Bar area was a cool place to hang out. Waiter was attentive and courteous. Great place.

Oh my, what a treat to go here! The atmosphere and vibe was so fun and the service was excellent! I had the grilled cheese with red pepper bisque and it was SO good. Mmm. My husband had pulled pork sandwich and it was perfect! I highly recommend this place! We aren't from the area and so glad we chose to go here! Wish we could go back and frequent this place!

I've frequented this place for many years since it was called steak and rib. Great food with a very comfortable atmos. Try the poke guacamole app, and BBQ flat bread. Great beer selection too!

Joining the chorus of 5-star reviews - this place is awesome. It gets it right: Great burgers, beer selection, service and ambiance. Even have a mysteriously interesting, scathing article above the men's urinal. I enjoyed it even though I had no idea where it was from or why it was written! But seriously, this place was perfect for a post ski meal and beer session. Not to be missed. Try to make reservations in advance, because its a popular place and will likely become even more so... Also, definitely try the Honeydew burger. It's seriously awesome. Top 5 burgers I've had in my life.

Great atmosphere, but could use better lighting for cozier feel. Good tv placement in the main bar. Great music selection playing. Wide variety of beers and wine. We were excited to try the avo bomba....but it's just guacamole. The turkey bacon wrap gets a 3, mostly because the waiter wouldn't bring more dressing and the sandwich came out cold. The brined chicken large plate was phenomenal and gets a 5+. I also love the fried egg on the spinach salad. They should switch to thick cut crispy bacon instead of the limp offering they serve now.

There was a short line for tables so we sat at the bar. The bar tender was extremely helpful and was willing to answer any and all questions for us. It was the 4th of July and we tried to make a reservation for later that night for 11 and both of the owners stopped what they were doing to try and help us out and work us in. Would definitely come back, great beer and friendly service!

  • Jaime S.

The menu had so many things on it I could not decide what to get! My absolute favorite was the Spam Musubi. I know most people are grossed out by Spam but you're missing out. The queso was delicious...it had chorizo in it. Yum. And my friend let me have a taste of the seared ahi salad. It was sooo good. The ten mile mule cocktail was so delish and served in the hugest, cutest "tub." This was my favorite restaurant in Breck so far!!

  • Katie H.

The food was absolutely excellent!! We loved the ribs, they were even better than Texas and that is saying a lot! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great selection of beers and strong drinks served in a cool canteen.

Awesome food, great service, and great experience. We sat in the patio to enjoy the beautiful view while getting some shade underneath the umbrellas. The host was keenly attentive to our needs. He ensured that we had a good shade and cleared our tables without delay. We ordered the Margherita Flatbread (5 stars), Ahi Poke Salad (4.5 stars), and the Filet of Fish Sandwich (3.5 stars). The salad was amazing and refreshing after our long drive from Denver. However, we felt that it had a little too much dressing. Cut it by 50% and the salad would still taste great. The fish breading on top was very salty. Not sure if that is normal. Overall, i would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Breckenridge.

Ok saw yelp reviews an had to try this place. Ordered the half chicken that was brine, smoked, and flash fried. OMG best chicken ever. Local atmosphere was cool. Oh, order the dark and stormy, and the service was amazing ask for Megan.

A must visit. We showed up without a reservation after being on the road all day and Mike (manager) found a way to accommodate our party of 6 at dinner time. Everyone is friendly and the food is excellent, plus that have a huge list of great beers and wines to choose from. Thanks again Mike!

    (5)
  • Alex T.

A small place in Breckenridge filled with great comfort food and beer. Only reason i cant give it five stars is because their tap menu is not nearly extensive enough to include "taphouse" in the name. Dont sleep on the Half Rack of Ribs! Best I've ever had

    (4)
  • Dan S.

Started with the green chili fries, which were very bland. Wife got a very chewy and almost inedible chicken sandwich, although the toppings were excellent - green chile, cream cheese, mustard. The wings were entirely too salty, they brine them first and then dusted in jerk which had more salt. I can tolerate salt, but this was ridiculous. The wedge salad had 6 tiny pieces of bacon, about the size of a nickel, skimped on the blue cheese too. Good beer selection and music. Wait staff was good as well. Not sure why all the good reviews. Would not recommend.

The owners have relationships with Colorado breweries, which means you can drink Colorado suds at the Canteen that you can sometimes only get in bombers from local craft brewers. Comfort food menu has great influences from Hawaii, yummy ribs and healthy salads. Timothy at the bar seems to know his brews. Also a great place to watch sports but DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A SPORTS BAR!

Hot local spot! Great menu, great staff, great grub. Get yourself a "Dark and Stormy" while you're here!

The Canteen is an amazing find in a sea of many fishes. With many options in Breck and especially on Mainstreet, the Canteen stands out as one of my favorites! They accommodated us easily with a group of 9. We were served drinks as soon as we were seated, the wait staff very attentive. I ordered the Honeydew bison burger my husband the big Hoss and they were both great. You can choose your meat on the burgers, bison ground beef, chicken too! The owner is on site and friendly, making sure everyone is taken care of by his staff...and we were! They have a good variety of beers as well. I recommend the Canteen and tap house for fun good food and drinks!

Found this place while trying to make reservations for our weekly trip up to Breckenridge. We have gone four times now. Has a nice local feel and everyone is really friendly. Convenient location on Main Street. Great selection of food and drinks. Everything we have ordered we have really enjoyed. Nice bar downstairs with separate dining area upstairs. Can't wait to go again.

    (5)
  • M P.

Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. My husband and I visited the restaurant based off reviews on yelp. I wouldn't recommend it. My burger was flavorless. The fries were hard and burnt. If you like tasteless burgers, then this is the place for you. Overpriced as well.

Go now! Ended up here after happy hour to grab another drink...and now is our new favorite place in Breck. The bartenders are chill and friendly and make you feel like a local who's been there before. I was pleased by the long wine list and the guys loved the beer selection (especially the sour beer which is hard to find). Even though we had already eaten, we had to try the wings...absolutely amazing!! Sweet chili is the way to go. We were too full to go on with the rest of the menu so decided it was necessary to go back for lunch the next day. Lunch the next day just validated our love for this place. Great food (wings!) and wonderful staff (one of the waitresses leant me her sunglasses!) and a patio looking at the mountains! Go now!

Great place we stumble on to.. Great food, friendly and everything on the menu is good .. Worth a stop in, it's a small place, call ahead for large groups. I can't wait to come back !!!!

  • Sara F.

Really happy that this place opened up, I was delightfully surprised with my experience. My friend and I went out for a nice dinner, and we really loved our food. I had something called a Kahuna burger (i think) with grilled chicken, and I loved all the flavors! Our server, Auburn, was really nice and the owner came over to check in on us as well. Even though they were busy, we got a table pretty quickly and didn't have to wait for our food. Def worth checking this place out, good bar area and seating as well upstairs.

    (5)
  • C N.

Great staff, great food, fun atmosphere and family (kid) friendly. Definitely check this place out. We're in Breck for just a few days and I think we'll come back to Canteen again before departing.

    (5)
  • Jim S.

This is not a fine dining restaurant, but it is way above average pub fare and a good drink selection at reasonable prices (exceptionally so for Breckenridge). Highly recommended if you are looking for a wide variety of selections at reasonable prices in an informal atmosphere.

    (4)
  • Michael M.

The team is back with new digs and boy it it great! The Canteen has the best chef, menu and professional staff to make for a great dining experience in Breckenridge. Great job guys! The place was hopping and yet we were looked after with lots of attention. The salmon was delicious, cooked perfectly with a beautiful presentation. The Honeydew, as others have already said, is killer! The smoked ribs were cleaned off the bone in no time. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for reasonable prices with above standard quality. Besides the full bar, there is an extensive wine and beer selection too!

  • Barry C.

Another new place in downtown Breck that is worth checking out. Great beer selection, great burgers and great service. Nice place to go if you want to avoid the large crowds..

    (5)
  • Katie K.

Crowded, which isn't always a bad thing. However food portions were small while prices are high for the quantity compared to most places. Was disappointed in the wings considering only 5 wings in an appetizer for $7and only only 3 shrimp in an appetizer that's $11. How is that an appetizer to even share. We were not expecting that with our group. How can that be called an app?

  • Alexandra S.

I am so unbelievably happy having come in to the canteen. We were apprehensions about coming in, it's new. But wow- we were so pleasantly surprised! The burger was the best in town. The ribs are unreal. And I normally never order salmon in the mountains, but I can't wait to order it again! Also- for craft beer lovers: this is your spot. They get some great local beers on tap! We can't wait to come back. As locals, we are so excited to have the canteen in town now!!

  • Amy J.

American comfort - just the kind of food you want on a winter day after skiing (burgers, mac & cheese, pulled pork, etc.)! The downstairs is very cute, the upstairs isn't much to write home about decor-wise, but the food and drinks were delicious. If you're looking to do a shot ski - this would be the place! It fills up quickly, but is one of the places in town that you can make reservations on Open Table in advance so I highly recommend that.

  • Iman Y.

Had the Ahi tuna salad. Delicious. Pleasant atmosphere, great management, bluesy music, and reasonable prices. Very well done.

Best Burger, phenomenal Mac and cheese and a fantastic ahi salad. Tracey is a great hostess. Epic meal.

  • TLynne S.

This place was good, but not as good as the reviews that I read prior to going here. Guacamole was basically smashed up avocados, the flatbread was good, but the fried chicken which I think is something they highly recommend was dry and just not as good as they suggest it is. Our kids had burgers which actually looked good so maybe that is the best route to go. I understand it's a casual place, but the server recommend some martinis and they were just bad......but the wine list is pretty decent.

You had me at spam musubi, what are the chances that my favorite snack can be found in Breckenridge. This was just one of the highlights of a fairly small but concise menu. There was something for everyone, amongst our group of salad eaters, picky mother and rowdy 3 year old a meal was found and thoroughly enjoyed. Brined chicken and burgers were the highlights as well as a tuna poke guacamole appetizer. Service was friendly and professional, nice beer and drink list rounds of a great experience.

I didn't believe that any place in breck can be 5 stars just because of how terrible almost every restaurant is but this place, we will be back. We had a reservation and once we sat down the server the whole time was a great server. She recommended a few dishes and beers that she liked and I tried and my family and I were very pleased with the meal. We ordered mushroom Alfredo flat bread, 1/2 a chicken with vegs and grilled salmon. Everything had great taste. It looks old but I think there fairly new.

We had a group of 7 people, 5 of which were friends from out of town visiting us. Got reservations for 10 pm on a busy Friday night. The restaurant actually called 2 hours early to let us know the table was ready in advance...life saver! I gotta say the only reason I gave 4/5 was bc of our waiter. I don't know if he was just having a bad night but he was pretty disappointing for a large group. Not all that helpful, not really smiling, kinda made the whole table feel awkward. Other than that the food was great, service was too, he was on point with everything....just not the kind of downer you want on a Friday night out with friends from out of town. Highly recommend the ribs! Spam app was tasty too.

  • Elizabeth R.

The food, start to finish, was delicious. We had the AvoBamba, a bison burger, a cheeseburger (both with some of the tastiest fries I've ever had) and finished with the Tres Leches cake (just like my mom used to make). It really wasn't that noisy. They have the space divided so that the noise is pretty contained. We made a reservation using Open Table that ended up being for a different date (beware Open Table users) and they worked hard to find us a table. Mike, the owner, was super friendly and the rest of the staff went out of their way to be helpful. We will be back and you DEFINITELY MUST TRY!

Fantastic beer selection, great food and friendly service. Had a Bison Burger that tasted fresh and awesome! Spam Musabi app was much better than Hawaiian 7-11s! Don't miss this place on your way through town.

Great little restaurant that just started out on the 10th of December this year, friendly owner, friendly staff, great menu and impressive attention to detail to the pallet! Very diverse menu, wings to bruschetta to shrimp...burgers and sammies included! Had a great time, awesome music. Also separated from the bar downstairs, dining area is upstairs making it family friendly!

    (5)
  • Jordan G.

Great food and atmosphere! We had the chips and ahi/guac and the queso for appetizers as recommended on here. They were delicious. I had the Honeydew, almost went for the bison option instead of beef. Some of the other dishes my family had was The Hoss, fish sandwich, turkey bacon wrap, & BBQ pulled pork. Everybody loved their dish. The pork and the honeydew had just the right amount of heat. It's great when you can smell the smoker running back behind, great BBQ seems to be something missing from Breckenridge. Will have to try the ribs next time!

Excellent on all levels! Great food, great atmosphere...and great beer list. I was sad to see Steak & Rib go, but now I'm stoked to have this nearby....woo hoo!

Good food. Had the Margarita pizza which was great and the warm spinach salad-- not enough blue cheese and the bacon was a little soggy. Solid hot chocolate. Dad had the burger and enjoyed it. 7/10

This place is incredible. My friend and I found this gem after a day on the mountain. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We met one of the owners Mike, he treated us like family, one of the nicest guys and told us about the history of the location. We ordered the wings for an appetizer and they ended up being extremely delicious with wonderful smoke flavor coming through. for entrees we ordered the ribs which was so amazing fall off the bone wonderful smoke flavor and the melon burger Woodhead cream cheese blue bonnet peppers jalapenos and a nice honey on top both were extremely good I am definitely going to come back. This place is a must stop anytime while in Breckenridge.

Great food and atmosphere! Had to set at "community table" in the bar bc we didn't have reservations, but it was fun to meet people and visit about our day of skiing! Shared the chips and queso fundido and bbq flatbread with my husband and the food was delicious! Great service, too! Loved it!

Family ate there on Valentine's night after a day of snowmobiling. We had no reservation. Great beer choices and cider at the bar, and their speciality drinks looked awesome. Got a table within 20 minutes. Food, service, and wine list were all excellent--even a nice Côtes du Rhône at a great price. Come soon--this place will be full very soon.

This is my new favorite restaurant in Breckenridge. Wait staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is both reasonably priced and delicious. We read the reviews, and tried the Honeydew Burger, which is very good, but the ribs are really special. The ribs themselves are smoky and perfectly cooked, striking the balance between being tender, but without falling apart in your hands. The attention to detail is evident, with the fries being perfectly fried, the BBQ sauce being excellent, and even the cole slaw having great flavor. I can also recommend the chocolate raspberry torte from the dessert menu. Overall, a great dining experience, and a must-visit in Breckenridge.

Great new place in Breck! Breckenridge brewery beers on tap and a cool vibe. Check it out!

Happened upon this place by chance and it was no mistake. My burger ("The Honeydew") was by far the best burger I have had in a long time. The menu seemed well built, and my whole group left extremely satisfied with their food. Prices were very reasonable and well worth it. The entire staff was helpful and hospitable, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. Definitely a must have in breck.

  • Charlie S.

I am still sitting at my table as I write this. This place only opened last week and already I can tell this place will go far. The burgers are huge and fantastic. A special recommendation of the Honeydew. While the description of the burger doesn't sound delicious, everything works together perfectly. Also for an expensive ski town the food is reasonably priced. An added plus is the fact that most good burger joints leave fries as an after thought. The fries here are well seasoned and well cooked. Would strongly recommend this place.

    (5)
  • Christina A.

BBQ a was delicious. Very nice spice. May be too much for the average person but I thought it was phenomenal. The fries that came with it were good as well. Split the meal. A LOT of food for $12! Great beer selection as well

    (5)
  • Max C.

The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the service was slow. It took almost 35 minutes to get 3 burgers and one salad. Besides that the burgers were great and the spinach salad too. French fries a little bit too salty. The cuban burger is the BEST.

  • Stacy K.

First meal in Breck and our experience at The Canteen was excellent. The qualities I look for in a restaurant were covered there and then some. Great selection of burgers, salads, apps, beverages and more. We took our servers recommendations for apps and entrees and she was so spot on it's as if she read our minds. The salsa and guac were probably the best I've ever had. The Honeydew burger was such a cool concoction of flavors it just melted in my mouth. The ambience was perfect for our large family with young kids. TVs everywhere with sports on helped to keep everyone entertained. Service was top notch. Hard to believe this place has only been open a few months because the friendly atmosphere made you feel like it's an old standby establishment in town. Can't wait to return without kids to check out the unique beer selection with some very rare find craft releases.

  • Sarah G.

All around, The Canteen impressed me. We had a large party, so we made a reservation but then needed to change it to a different day. They were very nice about it and accommodated us without hesitation. The food was great and the service was very friendly and efficient. Overall, this place seems very well run even considering it's a new place. It's super casual and a relaxed atmosphere. Finding parking places was the only negative.

  • Chad Y.

The hoss was one of the best burgers I have ever had! And you must try the Ten Mile Mule cocktail! My fiancé had the honeydew veggie burger and she was in love. The bar is a great place to hang out and the patio outside is huge and a perfect view of the mountain. A MUST see when in Breck!!

Cannot say enough great things about this place. Food is amazing - served hot and fast. Everything was delicious from the comfort food BBQ, mac and cheese and fries to the multitude of gluten free options. Service and staff are even better - friendly, fast, welcoming. They accommodated our group of 20 same day.

We were excited to try Canteen based on the great reviews on Yelp, but were very disappointed by the service. We ordered the poke and guacamole appetizer, BBQ flatbread, and the 'merica burger. I want to start on a positive note and say that the food was really good, but the service was really disappointing. It was a really busy Wednesday night and after a half hour waiting for our food, our waiter came over and told us he forgot to put in our order with the kitchen. Good for him for taking credit for the mistake. After another 20 minutes, they brought the wrong food, for a different table over... Ugh, we were so hungry at this point! After another 10 or 15 minutes and over an hour total after ordering, our food arrived. We dove in, so happy to find it was pretty good. The fries were a little soggy and the flatbread a little too crispy, but overall quite good. We thought to ourselves, "hey mistakes happen... maybe they'll comp us a round of drinks or take something off our bill... no big thing" but nothing... Comping the customer in these types of circumstances is pretty standard in the restaurant industry. I guess we were tired and didn't want to get into confrontation, so we didn't say anything... maybe we should have. But we're locals and this is a small community, so we didn't feel like getting into it. It's just disappointing to see this kind of service and feel like just another transient tourist or seasonal. I'm sure that wasn't their intent, but that's how it came across. The other food looked really good (ribs!), so maybe we'll go back in the off season when it's not so busy and service isn't an issue. If things improve, so will my review.

Great service. Great food. Great environment! Food is all made from scratch & fabulous. Had 2 different burgers, kids Mac & cheese, chicken tenders, the brownie sundae & cheese cake. Also had a stellar Moscow Mule, & they have an unbelievable beer & wine selection. We left fully satisfied & full!! Can't wait to go back!!

True believers in what a restaurant should be. Excellent service, attention to detail, great tap selection and great food. If you like burgers, get the 'Merica.

Love love this place. First off, greeted quickly by 3 people to seat us. We went, family of 4, for lunch on a Saturday. Outside looks small but inside bright and cheery. They have a full bar along with a lot of beers on tap (I brought along my picky tap beer drinker). For food, please have the C Burger which is pork on beef I think. So good. The kids had Mac n cheese and hamburger with fries. My wine was chilled to perfection. Overall, the price point, service and food/drink was over-the-top hence why my husband and I gave this a 5 star. Wish this place was near us in San Diego.

Burgers

Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. A hamburger is basically a sandwich prepared by stuffing ground meat patty, generally beef, between two slices of a bun cut in half. Hamburger is also famous for its seasoning. Most popular condiments used in hamburgers in the United States are mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup.
