About Tallgrass

Tallgrass Restaurant, voted number one in Chicagoland for cuisine by Zagat guide 2006, offers a variety of venues for your dining experience. Tallgrass, celebrating its 26th anniversary, has always been acclaimed as one of the best restaurants not only in Chicago, but also in the Unite States. Since opening Tallgrass in 1981, Chef Robert Burcenski and Maitre d' Thomas Alves have maintained the highest standards for cuisine, wine and service. Located in Lockport's historic district, considered the best preserved 19th century canal town in the Midwest, Tallgrass is housed in a lovingly restored 100 year old red stone Victorian building. Rich fruitwood wainscot, warm original gas chandeliers, cut crystal and polished silver create a soft, glittering light that warms the diners' anticipation of the gustatory treats to come. Highly acclaimed Chef Burcenski prepares elegantly garnished contemporary cuisine using only the finest products from organic and self sustaining farms.
