Tucked behind the Franklin Avenue subway stairs, this intimate Mediterranean venue has been causing quite a stir. A pretty slate-blue fa'ade directs you to a small space starring whitewashed brick walls, blonde wood tables and a skylight. A handful of seats at the marble counter offer a view into the mini kitchen. But, there is nothing mini about Chef Nick Perkins' culinary skills. In fact, he is the master of working magic out of a small kitchen.Start with'an heirloom tomato salad'laced with olive oil, dried red chili, and paired with escabeche-style mussels. Then perfectly'poached'hake is served with anchovies'and'bitter greens for a rustic yet relishable'dish. Pork Milanese plated with cucumber and shaved fennel flaunts a great deal of'fun and flair.
