I have been to this location and also the one towards downtown. Both have the same menu and the same quality food. This location is now open on Sundays which is a bonus when you just have to have your Gyro. My favorite thing is the Yeero (Gyro) combo. It depends on my mood but both the White and Red sauces are good. If you want spicy then go with the Red but if you want something creamy then go with the white sauce. Their fries are good with being crispy on the outside and not too oily. Don't forget to get fry sauce!! Their lemon rice has just the right amount of lemon hint in it without being over powering. I will say that the rice is a tad bit oily though but it is in no way swimming in oil. The combos might seem a bit pricey at about $7.80 but you get a decent side of either rice or fries and a drink. None of their prices are too outrageous and they definitely satisfy.

First a small disclaimer... I don't eat Greek food often so take it into consideration. The good - fries were yummy. They are crisp on the outside. The bad - I ordered chicken souvlaki and it was not good. The taste was bland. I had 7 large pieces of onion to three cubes of chicken. It came in a pita, and half way through, the pita was wet and mushy. I'd say the rice and salad were fair. The center piece here though is the chicken, and unfortunately I couldn't finish it.

The best gyro sandwich I've had in Salt Lake, maybe the best I've had anywhere. The meat is always perfectly cooked and the seasoning is wonderful. I really like their pita bread. It's fried and a little oily. Uptight eaters might not like that but I think it's delicious. They also have excellent fries and they have the best fry sauce ever. It's not the standard mayonnaise and ketchup. I don't know what's in it but it's got a tiny bit of spice to it and I love it. Greek Souvlaki also has souvlaki - of course. One of my favorite things to get is their "Low Carb Special." I'm not dieting but I just like the combo. It's a greek salad (they make a great greek salad) with two souvlaki skewers. I always get the chicken souvlaki. And I add pita bread. Like I said, I'm not on a diet, I just like that combo. It's a perfect meal for me. Other things I like at Greek Souvlaki are the stuffed grape leaves, the traditional lemon chicken soup, and the greek spaghetti. Greek Souvlaki, along with Crown Burger, is one of my favorite fast food options in Salt Lake. I think I'm gonna need to have a gyro sandwich tonight, now :-)

The fries here are very delicious and the meat quality is considerably high. The service is quick and accommodating to order adjustments.

We love eating at the South Jordan location. They have a wonderful Low-Carb Greek Salad, you get your choice of meat and it's delicious. The service there rocks, the staff is so sweet and friendly. We are becoming regulars at this place and we love it!

Everything was yummy, I will be back. The loukoumades are sooooo goooood!!

This is not my favorite Greek drive-thru but I'm never entirely disappointed by it. The euros aren't bad but I feel like they are variable meals, sometime they are deliciously good, sometimes a bit dry. I also appreciate the hours they are open so that is why if I need a quick eat, I will stop by here.

overall I really like this place. here is a summary. upside: - this specific location has a drive-thru. - so far as I am concerned, it's the best souvlaki that can be obtained from a drive-thru in Salt Lake. - this location is open on Sunday. - it's possibly the best souvlaki that can be obtained in Salt Lake on a Sunday provided you are not directly connected with people who are Greek. downside: - I don't much care for the tzatziki. - the words "fries" and "rice" sound entirely too much alike when spoken through a crappy speaker. if someone can provide some suggestions to make sure that I receive rice and that my overall ordering efficiency is increased, I would appreciate it. - I miss the girl at the drive-thru with the messed-up teeth. the one who recognized me even after I cut my hair. she was kind of cute (in spite of the messed-up teeth, not because of). general personal rules (Greek Souvlaki specific): - souvlaki in pita before gyros. - red sauce before tzatziki/white. - rice uber alles as it relates to sides. factors TBD: - there are significant portions of the menu I have yet to explore. - I've never actually gone inside.

Food was really good! I had the classic Gyro combo to-go. It was ready fairly fast. I didn't use the drive thru but there is one if you don't want to get out of your car. They offer some marinara sauce or "the white sauce". I asked if the white sauce was the tzaziki sauce - it was. I found it weird that anyone would eat a gyro with marinara sauce but I guess everyone has different eating preferences! Overall pretty good, plus coupons come often in the mail so I prefer this one to other greek places.

Salt Lake has A LOT of options if you're in the mood for Greek, and this is one of the best. I love the chicken souvlaki--they put onion and zucchini on the kabob in between each piece of chicken, so the chicken pieces don't cook all together and become difficult to take off the stick and eat. My husband likes the gyros and my kids love the spaghetti with mizythra cheese. The fries are average and the fry sauce is on the spicy side, which we like! The lemon rice isn't overwhelmingly flavorful (no egregious amounts of lemon pepper on it) but it is definitely flavorful enough. My favorite thing is the drive thru. I don't have to pull my kids out of the car to get a better-than-fast-food quality meal. Be prepared for your order to take a little longer, because they cook to order. We keep coming back!

The food here is very fresh, flavorful and inexpensive. They have a good variety of entrees--chicken, beef or pork souvlaki, spaghetti with three different sauces (I love it with browned butter and mizithra cheese), gyros and pita sandwiches, soup, and even hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, corn dogs or chicken nuggets for people who don't like Greek food. Their pita breads are buttery soft (hummus and other dips are available), there is a taste of lemon in the rice, the fries are thick and crispy served with a biting fry sauce, and you can order fried mushrooms, zucchini, or onions. Besides the basic Greek salad or a simple side salad, they offer a salad with beets, feta cheese and walnuts. Yum. If somehow you are still hungry, the baklava is the perfect way to end a meal.

Greek Souvlaki is definitely my favorite place to get a gyro. I love their pitas, recently I tried the lo-carb salad (but added a pita on the side) and I loved it. The salad has everything I want on a salad: chicken, peppers, olives, feta cheese, etc. and the dressing...dang. I could drink the clear vinaigrette dressing, sooo good.

I have been going to Greek Souvlaki for years. I go at least once a week. I've had pretty much everything on the menu. Everything is excellent. I usually get the "low carb salad" with chicken. This is the best salad you can get anywhere! What amazes me the most is how they can the quality so high after so many years. Another thing I like is the place is always spotless. You can't go wrong with this restaurant.

For fast food the place is great. Love their low carb Greek salad. And love their lemon rice and gyros!

I've been coming to Greek Souvlaki for a long time. They are by far the best place for a gyro in Utah. I've never had a bad experience here throughout all the times that I've been here. Their salads and kabab's are so good. The white taziki sauce is my favorite as well as the hummus. Also love their spinach pie and dolmathes. Will continue to visit this place for good tasty and also healthier meals.

This place is near work so I stop by on occasion. I had their chicken souvlaki plate this last time and it was good. I've had the pork but it always seems very dried out to me. The chicken this time was yummy. I love the lemon rice a lot. Good flavor and not salty. I had the pita instead of the roll which they charge extra for. It would be nice when they ask if you want pita or a roll that they tell you the pita is extra. Seems sneaky that they don't

This place was quite good! It was a little too fast-food and Americanized for my preference, but if I lived in the area I would definitely go back. I got a normal gyro with white sauce, salad, lemon rice, and fries. It was so much food for the price!! I could not eat it all, but I enjoyed every bite that I could manage to stuff into my belly.

  • Michael R.

Good Gyro sandwich here Enjoyed it but not off the hook or the best ever. Price was reasonable too. Service was friendly and food brought to the table for a fast food place.

  • Angie L.

my friend was craving this place so i got a chance to try it. i ordered their most popular item, gyro with white sauce and no pita. the meat was surprisingly tender and flavorful. the sauce was good, but got a bit rich towards the end. the fries were disappointing and not worth getting. overall the staff was really friendly and our food came out super fast. like scary super fast. it must have just been waiting there. but it was still good. it's not something that i would crave, but decent place to eat. i probably wouldn't come back seeing as the food was just average.

Killer vegetarian options for a fast food place. I'm a huge fan of the Classic Greek Salad. Other delicious vegetarian options include pasta, fried and battered mushrooms and zucchini and lentil soup (served during the winter months). Bonus points for having a drive thru.

A very nice place for quick greek food. I have enjoyed the Pasta, chicken, and grape leaves.

I suppose I'm the wrong audience for this. Historically, I have not found Greek food to be particularly interesting, as I typically find the lamb too greasy and the overuse of onions in nearly everything to range from disgusting to nauseating. A few recent forays into that cuisine have changed my mind somewhat, with Chicken Express and Greek Market on State leading the charge. Besides the various burger places, that leaves the Mad Greek chain and this one as the big hitters I haven't hit up recently or, in the case of this one, not at all. So, given the recent push wherein I've found some to like in the areas of cuisine de Greek, this one has been on my radar, maybe not heavily, but definitely there, mostly due to reputation. I like the decor of this place. It's clean, modestly understated (almost to the point of being homogenized bland) and the staff are very nice, though the well-meaning cashier was a bit inept. My son had the nuggets and fries, I tried to have a chicken and pork souvlaki entree and some fried mushrooms & zucchinis, but only wound up with the chicken. They had some fresh iced tea, so I had that, but it was on the lower side of things there. I can probably sum this up by saying that I liked the fries the best. As I don't typically order or eat fries to any great extent, this also means that most of the rest was wanting. Of all of what I had, all of it I've had better elsewhere, for souvlaki, at Greek Market, for the pita and rice, at Chicken Express and for the zucchini and mushrooms, at quite a number of places. It's a bit of a pity to me that Yelp doesn't allow half stars, as this one is more towards a 2.5 than anything else. It was prepared well, as far as technical execution, though the rice was a bit wetter than I normally encounter. The flavors just weren't there. Everything, from the ranch sauce down, was mostly bland. I didn't have any of the desserts, but those all looked pretty much normal. I really struggled with giving this one a 3, as I can't see any time when I would ever see myself returning, but that may be more to my particular taste than any fault of this place. I sometimes think I'm too generous and this is one of the times when a restaurant is beneficiary of that tendency, hence the rating, but never the return. There's too many other places too deserving for that.

One of my new favorite places to eat in Murray. The food is excellent, the wait time is normal, and the staff are friendly enough. I usually get the same thing every time I go in because it's so good. Regular gyro, fries, and a side of dolmathes. If you like Greek food, then this is your jam.

  • Scott R.

I can't ever get enough of this place. I have never had a bad experience at any of the locations through the state. I always go for the gyro combo. It comes with the gyro and your choice of side rice or fries and a drinks. I would highly recommend the lemon rice. This is what dreams taste like. With all of its buttery goodness and it just slides down your throat. I also go the small order of dolmathes. Easily some the best I have ever had. Their tzatzkiki (white sauce) is my favorite from anywhere as well. I can't wait to come back again soon. Love this place!

I had the Greek Gyro salad. It was good. There are tons of Greek owned places in Salt lake but I have not found great Greek food yet.

Love their lemon chicken soup. Lemon rice is good. But sad the last two time I have visited for my Greek salad there have been fruit flies in it .

Great Greek Food!!! One of our favorite places, including my 6-year old. Love their chicken and pork. Both are always seasoned perfectly, and usually pretty moist. They also have this delicious lemon pilaf soup, I highly recommend you try it...yum-yum!!

I grew up in Chicago and there are plenty of gyro places there. However, the best one is here. Good chicken Soulvaki, fries, lemon rice, pita, spaghetti, and Dolmades, too. Lot of food for a reasonable price. Highly recommend.

I recently visited Greek souvlaki for the first time. I can't believe I hadn't tried them before. The prices here are quite reasonable and the food was good. Keep in mind, this is fast food Greek, but still quite good. I recommend the chicken souvlaki in a pita. The fries were pretty good, and were certainly improved by the yummy, spicy, fry sauce. And the Loukomades (greek honey donuts) were delicious. The young girl behind the counter was very nice and helpful in deciding what to order for our first visit.

I started going here when I saw the ginormous signage with pictures of plates of spagetti. Greek spagetti? I don't care, all they had to say was spagetti with brown butter and mizithra cheese for $4.99 and I'm in. So, two visits, two spagets one with a salad (nothing exciting, just a salad), but i dragged a colleague here and she tried the spinach pie (brave of her) with lemon rice and wowser, what great choices. She forced me to try both, and Yes, the spaget is wonderful, but the spinach pie was so melty and good, and the lemon rice was to die for. I'll be back.

Best Greek fast food! Friendly staff and good quality dishes that don't make you feel like you ate fast food at all. I love the Greek salad with a cup of soup. Either the lentil or the lemon chicken soup are yummy, you can't go wrong there. My husband gets the chicken and beef skewers with the salad (low carb special) which he adds carbs to because he can't go without the pita bread. I also recently tried their pastas and found them very good as well.

THE BEST Gyro with white sauce. (Red is good too) THE BEST Cinnamon Rice pudding. THE BEST French fries. (and the BEST Spicy fry sauce). I just don't understand what else it is that you need from life.

  • Lola L.

Free extra red sauce for your gyro if you like the red sauce. Fairly quick service and pleasant staff. The platters or combo comes with a lot of food (french fries or rice). Really good souvlaki sticks but a bit pricey if you just get the sticks by themselfs.

    (3)
  • Seth J.

This place is pretty good! The Gyro was actually good for a fast food type place. If anyone knows where to get real chicken shawarma here let me know!! All I can find is places that do kabobs. If you've never had shawarma, make it a point to get some, somewhere....

I've eaten at this Greek Souvlaki location a few times in recent months and the food was great. My yero was tasty and the fries and lemon rice were delicious. I don't know what's changed but Greek Souvlaki in Murray has changed for the better.

  • Heather K.

The best of the Greek drive throughs for certain. Greek Souvlaki's menu is full of souvlaki, yeeros, pita sandwiches, salads and specialty items such as dolmathes, pastitsio and spanakopita. A recent addition to the menu is the Greek Low Carb Salad (my favorite) which provides the Classic Greek Salad with plenty of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, pepperoncini, calamata olives, feta cheese and dressing and adds either a skewer of chicken or pork souvlaki or yeero meat on top. Best know for the fresh ingredients, generous portions and prompt service, Greek Souvlaki holds the distinction of being the first restaurant to offer yeero (gyro), souvlaki and beefteki in Salt Lake.

  • AK P.

My husband got our order to-go. My gyro was stuffed with meat - this was no "salad" wrap! It was accompanied by a few mediocre fries and a heap of bland, yellow-colored rice. Focusing on that meat-filled gyro, I was diggin' it right up until I got a bite of wiry metal stuck in my teeth. A bit of brill-o pad (I'm assuming from them cleaning the grill??) kinda' put an end to the experience altogether. I won't be going back anytime soon...

  • Kelie H.

Yum! This location just as fab as the one downtown and I might dare to say even better since it's more spacious inside and feels more like a restaurant rather than a fast food joint, although you still order at the counter here. My lemon rice was perfect and my chicken souvlaki really hit the spot. My lunch date had the Gyro combo with white sauce and I feel like it was a bit too much food for my liking but he didn't complain. The difference between the regular order of souvlaki and the souvlaki plate is french fries and about $2. Not worth the "upgrade" in my opinion, Plus fries are bad, mm'kay? ok fine, their fries are REALLY good, but I'm on a diet. The regular order of souvlaki is one skewer of souvlaki and veggies, a pita or dinner roll and lemon rice or salad. Perfect portions and great for the price.

Out of all the Greek places I've tried in SLC, so far this one has the best gyro, hands down. Moderately priced, always super fresh and delicious, consistent flavors/service. The one downside is that you will certainly wait a while, whether inside or in the drive-thru, but I don't mind waiting when I know I'm going to get great food every time. Definitely recommended when you want some cheap, delicious Greek food that comes with a drive-thru.

  • David S.

I'm not certain that I should be reviewing a Greek restaurant because I don't like Greek food. But my wife insisted that we try Greek Souvlaki in Murray so off we went. I ordered the chicken and pork souvlaki...and I must say, it was pretty good. Especially the pork. The service was fast and the food came within five minutes. Everyone behind the counter had a smile for us. Out running around and need a quick bit of Greece? Stop in at Greek Souvlaki...you won't be disappointed.

  • Kat M.

I love this place. I get the dip sampler and the greek salad and it's always consistently delicious. I like how they season the chicken and the Spicy Feta dip is addicting. Pair that with warm pita bread slices and it's a slice of heaven. The gyro's and fries are pretty delectable as well. The interior is nice and clean and modern so I like that, even though I usually get take out. Check this place out for your next Greek escape and you won't be disappointed. They are even open Sunday's which is nice. Good food, good service. Love it.

  • Beau S.

Greek Souvlaki is my standby Greek restaurant. Their gyros are tasty, with a great balance of meat, pita, sauce, onions, and meat. If you really want a treat though, put some of their fries in that Gyro and go to town. It's a taste sensation that reminds me of the gyros they have in Greece. The only downside to doing that is it deprives you of the delicious fry sauce...it has just a little bite, probably some horseradish. The lemon rice is also fabulous, if just a tad greasy, but that's no problem because the grease was packed with flavor. I will refrain from the obvious Greece/grease joke here.

  • Julie R.

Love this place! I always get the salad w/ chicken souvlaki, BF gets gyro platter w/ lemon rice. They get it right every time and we've never had any issues with the quality. Every time we eat there I swear I'm going to figure out the secret of their souvlaki so I can make it at home lol

    (4)
  • Ryan M.

Easily the best of the greek drive-in joints in Salt Lake. The gyros are good, the various sides are all good. It is a tad more expensive than some of the other greek joints but I think the price to value ratio makes it a good stop for a quick meal.

  • Paula Rose W.

Its Sunday and you want Greek food-go here. Tasty gyro, fries (great fry sauce), chicken lemon soup, etc. It will do the trick. I thought I was over being bitter about the take out restaurant selection on Sundays in SLC...beggars can't be choosers, yada yada. It can still be kind of rough finding something decent to eat out there but this makes it a lil' less painful.

I noticed a few weeks ago when I was in for lunch that they updated their menu with several new types of spaghetti with a Mediterranean twist. I finally got back in to try them out, excellent! Especially for 4.99 what a hell of a deal!

02.21.11 first visit take-away food: B- gyro dry lamb, dry pita. greek salad meh. oh well. overall: B- not so lovely. not so tasty.

  • Daniel R.

I love this place! The food is great! I prefer the plate vs the combo meal. The plate comes with rice, French fries, a fresh salad, and your main. The gyro is my favorite and for less than $10 you get a ton of food. The restaurant itself could use some updating. What's up with the giant empty display case in the lobby/entrance? Apparently It's been empty for years. They should do something with it. It's size and emptiness gives the feeling like you're about to move or are going out of business.

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.

Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.

So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city.
