This place is great! Maybe not the best ambience but the food is good. My husband and I enjoy coming here together on occasion. Their happy hour is awesome, two sushi rolls for around 6 bucks. It's a small place near the end of a row of shops in a strip mall area of Arbutus so it's easy to miss. With the name "Grace Cafe" I thought it was going to be a coffee shop, the name is a bit misleading. I was pleasantly surprised, though.

Clean and regular Chinese restaurant, cheap and nothing fancy. I like it because they also have sushi, and they take credit card including discover, no matter how much you order. And they also have a nice website to make order easier.

Good- but not great - sushi from a small restaurant with zero ambience (really seems targeted at take out) with very friendly staff. We got a number of rolls (they have a great three roll combo) - but so many of them were stuffed with imitation crab (I really thought in Maryland I'd get away from that stuff) - which ruins what would have been great rolls. A few of them were really good. If you have a craving for take out sushi and are in the area, I don't think you'll go wrong - but if you want a nice restaurant to eat in - look else where.

This is the second time I've ordered from here. I wasn't that impressed the first time, but I decided to give it a second chance. I ordered 3 sushi rolls. The simple avacado roll the rice was overcooked and smooshy soggy mess. Bloombury rolls is ok. Kind of taste like something from a fast food restaraunt, but it was edible. The Teriyaki steak was a mistake, cold steak is chewy and gross, I'm not sure this should be classified as sushi, that was my mistake for trying something different. Don't think I will ever order from here again though.

We have ordered delivery from Grace Café many times. Their Chinese food is absolutely standard, the same stuff you get from any other Chinese delivery place. We usually order Fried Dumplings, which are fine, although the dough is usually very thick. Tonight we ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan, which was good but the Pork Fried Rice it came with was very greasy. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was fine. The deep fried chicken pieces were crispy outside and tender inside, good enough on their own to not entirely warrant the orange sweet and sour dipping sauce. The Won Ton Soup was not bad, we even got three won tons instead of the normal two. The Fired Crab Won Tons were not particularly good. They were crispy in a tough way, making them very chewy. The cream cheese crab dip inside was not bad, just surprising to find out that was what was inside. They have sushi as well, but we have never tried that. We have never had a problem using their web site to place our orders, although it is a third-party site which always makes me feel a little uneasy.

FYI. Make sure you order utensils & napkins separately with delivery. I was told that those items are too expensive for them to automatically include them with your order. Ridiculous.

Really good sushi! Pretty fast service. I wouldn't eat there because it's not to inviting but the food is really good.

This place has terrible takeout. The dumplings were slightly undercooked. The wonton soup's broth was tasteless. The "very spicy" orange chicken was greasy and had no heat. I took three bites and tossed the chicken because the excessive oil in made me sick to my stomach.

This place is near my job. I've gotten carryout from here a bunch of times, always via their web ordering system, and my food has always been ready (or nearly ready) when I go to pick it up. The service is very friendly at New Grace Cafe. I've never gotten delivery but my friend gets it all the time and she says they're fast. I've tried several different sushi rolls, some nigiri and sashimi, and the crab wontons. Everything has been good. It's a strip mall carryout place, so it's not mind-blowingly amazing sushi, but it's certainly good enough that I keep going back. The only thing I haven't liked was the meat dumplings because a couple of them contained little bits of gristle. (I get dumplings everywhere, and uneven texture is a deal-breaker for me.) I am also happy to report that they have cans of Coke here. I hate Pepsi and I work on a "Pepsi campus," which sucks. So it's nice that I can have Coke with my lunch when I order from New Grace Cafe. (Their 2-liter and 20 oz. bottles all seem to be Pepsi products, though, FYI.)

I have been ordering from Grace Cafe about every other month for almost 2 years. Today, I was sincerely disappointed. Firstly, I ordered Spicy Mayo (for an additional $0.75). They forgot it. When I called about a minute after receiving the order, the woman that answered informed me that she did not know when the driver would be back. She informed me that she forgot, but did not offer any type of apology or ask how she can reconcile the mistake. I asked to have the money put back on my card, a trivial amount I know but it was the principle of the matter. This is not the first time they have forgotten it. It may seem like a small thing but, if I'm purchasing something, I would like to receive it. Secondly, and possibly the most disappointing concern, is that the Volcano Roll I ordered was raw. It clearly states that the Volcano Roll is cooked, and it is cooked at almost any other sushi restaurant that sells it. Lastly, and slightly trivially, they serve their drinks in plastic quart containers, but only occasionally offer straws. A little attention to detail would go a long way. I used to like this place, but, this is probably the last time I'm ordering from them. Their lack of attention to detail and seeming uncaring nature towards their customers are a complete turn off. There are many other options available in this area and I will start giving them a call. Grace Cafe, if you're reading this, if someone had simply showed a little interest in me and had attempted to make up for the mistakes, I would have been more than happy. But the indifference towards me as a customer has turned this loyal customer away for good.

Normally very pleased. However this time, it over and hour and twenty minutes to get here! Soup was cold and sushi was hot! The customer service was miserable when I called back. The lady argued with me for 10 mintues! We offered to come bacm to pick up a remake of the food but that came with a fight! They need to step it up!

Great Chinese food at a fair price - I give them 5+ Stars for their food. Their location is a bit of a disappointment - I give them 1 Star for their storefront, its a bit old and dingy. Certainly a takeout kind of place! Dont be discouraged by the spartan tables and bland color scheme - the real deal happens behind the counter. I will be returning!!

New Grace Cafe, so whimsical! Their food is good (not amazing or anything) but good and the delivery system (online) is superb. I log on, order the food, place some directions in the comments box and my food shows up the way I want every time! There is something about this takeout, its not the best ever, but it never fails to hit the spot. Also, having the option to order traditional Chinese dishes and Japanese-style dishes to include sushi makes this one sure to please everyone in the family.

Bad hot and sour soup, and mediocre lunch specials.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
