I'll say this was probably the best b-fast we have had in a long time! It was wonderful. We went on mothers day which was a little bit of a mistake but the wait of 45 minutes was nothing compared to the happiness endured in my belly for hours after the meal. My wife had the breakfast burrito and she said it was awesome and not to mention well hearty worth value served. I had the Pepper Pod Omelet it was excellent, and almost a little too much even for the hungry man. I also tried the smoked ham and it was good. The place was busy, and the staff was friendly. Well worth the wait and the drive for that. Yes we will be back.

The Pod is a good small town off the Hwy stop. If you have been in more than a few times they learn your name and your order. The food is nothing special, not horrible but consistent. They do have a bar which is a rare find out this way!! Good place to stop if you are heading out east on I-76!

Okay... When they serve your steak on one plate and your baked potato on another...... Because they had too?? Wow!! The steaks were so tender, cooked perfect.. The salad was a typical salad bar.. This isn't the broker for decor and extras........... Thank goodness!! I'm telling you it is about the steak...The steaks are worth the drive.. Not over seasoned--Not over priced for steak... We'll be back again soon!

Vegan here, and just one glance at the menu told me my options were extremely limited. I wanted a baked potato but no margarine was available. There was not one vegan-friendly entree on the entire menu, and the menu appeared to be long. I understand I'm in the minority, but it really is not difficult to keep a few frozen vegan burgers around, or to have a vegan soup (lentil or chili?) as an option. But, this place appears to be stuck around 1987 or so, decor and otherwise. Dusty bison heads on the wall and old furniture and carpet.... you get the idea. They do have a salad bar but it had iceberg lettuce as the main attraction, and tubs of creamy-looking food service type cold side salads. My 83 year old mother found it adequate. The best part of my meal (I had fries) was the margarita which was surprisingly better than expected. Other members in the party had a burger which was reportedly quite greasy, and some kind of fried fish dish which was reportedly "good". Service was rather indifferent. No reason to ever return but it appears the locals are happy here.

Try the Chipolte Salads! Great anytime of year. A little comfort food blended into a salad for a fresh lunch or dinner. Be sure to read the front pages of the menu for entertaining writing by Baxter Black and a bit of history about "The Pod"

A long day at the Animal Sanctuary and we were starving for some food, my trusty Yelp app pleased me yet again and led us the Pepper Pod. Dare I say we were the only ones in the parking lot in a non-pickup truck. I felt singled out as the non-truck people. Don't judge locals, you'll still love me. The interior is definitely a bit dated, animal heads on the walls and dark wood interior finishes the cozy inside. We had two margarita's that were refreshing and there was no doubt tequila was being used. I hate getting a drink and don't feel like I'm getting any alcohol at all, that's not the case here. Mom decided on the Turkey Special of the day and I decided on the Beth's Junk Burger (no substitutions). The Turkey Special came with the soup of the day and one pass at the salad bar. Nothing special on the salad bar, the French dressing seemed homemade which was a definite positive. Entrees came and we both were very pleased. The Beth's Junk Burger seemed to be something the Pepper Pod is known for and was delicious to say the least. The meat was flavored and the toppings piled on top made each bite divine. You can tell this is where the locals come and the staff remembers you. If in the area, this place is worth a stop for some munching.

We eat here regularly and have never been disappointed. The waitresses are less than thrilled to be serving, and never seem to be happy, but have never offered bad service, with things arriving on time and keeping drinks full. I just wish they would smile! Other than that, the food is WONDERFUL.

Blink and you'll miss it! Very happy to find this hole in the wall on our way home from a wonderful visit to the Wild Animal Sanctuary. There isn't much else in these parts (though the Mexican "shed" a block away looked rather interesting), so based on the solid reviews (and our rumbling tummies) we decided to give it a whirl. It wasn't a bad decision. Not the best patty melt I've had in my life (onions were....off, somehow), but I appreciated the choice of fresh, local ingredients in many of their menu items and the service was very friendly and prompt. It's a good option next time you find yourself in Hudson (and you should find yourself there, if for no other reason than to visit the Animal Sanctuary! ;-)

This place is a local fave and I think I know why. It appears unchanged, like it's never been updated since they opened. Which I assume gives the locals a big ole' shot of nostalgia when they walk in. But really didn't work on me. I felt like a time machine had dropped me into some funky 70's tavern that can't decide it's a bar or café. The food was edible but nothing that made me get back in the time machine for another visit. I drive by it all the time coming back from golfing in Ft. Lupton, I just keep on driving every time.

First time here. . . Rustic ambiance, friendly staff, good looking bison! Six guests in our party and we were all happy and full. It's worth stopping off whilst on hwy 76.

I grew up in one of the neighboring communities to this establishment and used to come here somewhat often. I think it has been 10 years since I've been there..... and probably another 10 before I go back. The 2 stars are for the highlights of this meal. The kids mac and cheese is really cheese, not powder. The chicken fried chicken was pretty damn good too. The portion was nice sized for price. So the not so good. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY. Food, napkins, straw papers were on the floor and visible underneath the tables. If what I can see is atrocious what are the areas I can't see like... I probably don't want to know. The bathrooms were super scary to bad the out house that would have been there 100 years ago are gone, it might have been cleaner. Although I liked my meal. My table mates not so much. The prime rib was fair, and served with out condiments. In fact we weren't offered any condiments, until we asked for them. All three of our meals were supposed to come with rolls and they never got to the table. The salad bar is quite disappointing as well. Not very many items and pretty un-tiddy. The salt soup came with a little bit of split peas. Just a personal observation and not the end of the world issue was the fact they had a sandwich with blue cheese dressing on it. If you can afford to put prime rib and steaks on your menu, put real blue cheese on the menu. The words I would use to describe the service are sparse, limited, missing. I would recommend this place if your out in the beginning of no where driving to Nebraska and craving a steak and can't wait. If not just hit the chik- Fil-A 10 Miles away in Brighton and get better food, and a "'my pleasure".

I had the Mexi melt and enjoyed it for the most part; however, the service was below average and the restaurant could have been cleaner.

Hah, so I was on my way to Nebraska from Denver with some friends and we stopped at this place to eat. Decor: you can tell it's been there for a while, so things are a little old and worn, but still good. It's very brown and wood all over, but it's comfortable enough. They have a bar/pub area too. Food: - Rocky Mountain Oysters: My friend 'tricked' us into eating this without telling us what they were. Buttt, I did try a few and while they claim that they make the best ones.. I wouldn't know since I don't have a comparison, but I didn't think too fondly of them. They were just fried...things. - French Dip: also so-so. The portion was big and the au jus was delicious, but it was by far not the best one I've had. - Fries: I like these; they're stringy and crispy. mMMm. Bottom Line: If you gotta stop somewhere to eat, this place isn't half-bad. I wouldn't come running back though.

The breakfasts at the Pepper Pod are the best in Colorado! The omelets are big and fluffy and the hash browns are just the way you like them. The flavors are wonderful and the service is great. You can also a yummy Bloody Mary or Mimosa. My favorite place to eat Sunday breakfast.

Not clean and the service is very poor. Well everything tastes fine, plan on having the runs afterwords. Everyone I know gets it no matter what you eat. Oh and no breakfast on Sundays past 11. Wtf is up with that!? I almost walked out cuz they couldn't cook an over easy egg at 1130.

Passable for highway food. Took a trip out here today because it was up the road and had relatively high Yelp stars for this type of place. Gravel parking lot in front with access to the restaurant only being marked by an OPEN sign near one of the doors. Friendly service inside the restaurant though a small sign taped to one of the pictures on the wall as you enter reminds you to turn off your cell phone ringer. Sat down and noticed some stray flies inside the restaurant. Isn't there some kind of health code on that? Annoying to have to keep swatting away flies as you eat. I ordered a basic burger and fries and a side of onion rings. Basically if a place can make a great burger chances are they will excel in other areas. Sadly I was not asked how I wanted my burger cooked. This translated into a burger that was as grey inside as outside. It was moist, and had some flavor, but a wee bit overdone. I'm hoping the fries were not homemade because they tasted like Ore-Ida shoe strings. The onion rings were interesting. First, they were large, and a small order had about 8 huge rings. I hate to see the large. The onion was fresh but the batter had no flavor - it tasted like it was tempura based. The rings were loaded with grease - way overloaded. No one really came back to check on me once the food was delivered so my drink glass remained empty. My table was sticky with syrup - like they used the same dishrag from breakfast cleanup to wipe down my table. My seat had something on it and the host simply brushed it off onto the floor instead of picking it up and disposing of it properly. For this privilege I paid $12.80 before tip. There's a liquor store conveniently located one store to the left. Honestly, I probably won't be back. It was a chance to go somewhere new and try a new place. Since I'm being generous I'll round it up to a 3.

Voted "Best Comfort Food Winner-Denver" by Channel 7 for a good reason & an amazing example of survival in a sterile food chain world as the Pod approaches her 100th year of existence.

All 4 of us were pleasantly surprised by our food. me the polish sandwich, hubs Italian sandwich, bro blue cheese burger, friend chicken ranch sandwich. the place was very clean, staff friendly and attentive. Only minor issue was the decor needed updated. next time were by there we will stop again.

Pepper Pod has stood the test of time as it opened its doors in 1913. It has been around because this is good, down home, fresh cooking served by a very friendly staff that aims to please. Friday special was Fish and Chips served with a soup and salad bar. The fish was fresh and crunchy and sat on a pile of chips which I took over half of the meal home because of size. You can tell this is farming community as there were a lot of Carhartts in the dining room. And when these guys come in from working, they want a good meal. Pepper Pod seems to please all. I just wish I had saved room for one of the home made pies. Maybe next time, I will just eat desert.

So sad!!! We have been regulars here for years. We do takeout either to take to the lake or on the way home from. It is a pretty simple order fried chicken - 2 whole fried chickens to go w 2 xtra breasts. How the heck you mess that up is beyond me - then offered to fix it, however NO breasts available - so we got 7 pieces of chicken and 1 breast. Really!!!!! Grrrrr

So , a place being 101 years on business something must be going on? We came in at lunch time lot was jammed had to wait 5 minutes for a table no problem. We sat and orders I had the Beth's junk burger No exclusions, changes or substitutions! if you don't like it then take it off yerself. 1/3 burger, topped with american & swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions, bacon, banana peppers, pickles, bbq sauce, tomato, lettuce, mayo and fries Jim had a 1/3 pound burger both of us had salad bar and fries The salad bar was nice fresh lettuce and veggies salad dressing were really good homemade blue cheese and thousand island both excellent So the burger , Amazing! I mean I get out a lot I've tried a ton of different burgers some , ok some good and a couple place that wow you Well this is a wow you burger Fresh ground daily home made bun that had a hint of King's Hawaiian taste to it. With perfectly grilled onions sweet with the caramelization and fresh sautéed mushrooms with dill pickle and banana peppers with mayo lettuce and a hint of bbq sauce and don't forget two slices of thick bacon It all works sort of sweet bun with onions offset with the dill pickle and banana peppers my mouth is watering writing about this and I just finished! Definitely try this place if your anywhere near Denver

Update. The general manager has contacted me to rectify the situation. Because of her prompt response and sincere willingness to make this right, I update my original 1 star to 3 for the customer service. I'll update this again when I return to The Pepper Pod.

We love the Pepper Pod! This family owned little gem is our favorite place to eat. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent and the best part of the Pepper Pod is the atmosphere. I tell all my friends if that want an fantastic meal at an excellent price - go to the Pepper Pod.

A wrong turn off the freeway led us here, while driving back to Mpls from Denver. This place is for real. Boot scrapers outside the door, a ton of pickup trucks in the lot and cowboy hats on the patrons. We stopped for breakfast. There were lots of traditional and local options on the menu. I went with eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. The food was great, especially the bacon. They are not stingy with the breakfast meat- there were five huge pieces of thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon on my plate. The staff were laid-back and friendly, and I would eat there all the time if it wasn't 900 miles from home.

Only been there once. Salad bar was kinda weak, but I had one of the best French dips I have ever had. Roommate and his lady have been back a few times (we live just outside of Hudson) and never have any complaints.

Where do I begin...I ate there seven times within four days. Breakfast...awesome. Lunch...awesome. Dinner...awesome. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. My tea glass was never empty and I always left there full as I have ever been. What an awesome place.

My boy friend and I wanted to get out of Denver traffic before we grabbed a bite to eat for our road trip, and I was worried all we would find would be McDonalds or subway. Luckily this restaurant showed up on my yelp search. As a spoiled, city, foody type, I get apprehensive going to small town, hole in the wall places - but pepper pod is nothing to fear! This place has a traditional American Midwest, homey feel to it, the kind of feel that is lacking in the way too prevelant food chain restaurants these days. They had a great salad/soup bar and many great entree selections. Very filling meals and delicious steaks. Yayy pepper pod! The world needs more of you!

Visiting my family again- and met up with friends at the Pod! We couldn't decide what to order so we got a French Dip and a Cheeseburger and split them. I also got a cup of Split Pea and Bacon soup. All were delish. I also had breakfast there this morning- Hudson scramble- perfect way to start my day. Even after not being here for a while the server remembered us! Good to be "home"!

A diamond in the ruff. The problem is its in the rough still. Place is dirty and in need of renovation and updating. I would rather use the restroom at loves across the street. Service was not good. Example; waitress was slow to bring refill drinks, while my wife was in the restroom the server tried to take our order (semi expecting me to know what my wife wanted. Does anyone really know what their wife's want?!? Haha) timing was bad took 1 hour to get in and out. Not really kid friendly but not their fault it is mostly a bar. Now you might say "well the server could have been busy at other tables". Yes but there were only 4 tables with people And 2 other servers. The reason this place is still here is the fact there are no other restaurants in hudson. The menu was lengthy. I ordered a Beth's junk burger and my wife ordered a steak salad. This is why I give this place 2 stars. The bacon was not fresh and had the consistency of a dogs raw hide chew bone. The grilled onions and mushrooms were pretty good but the steak and ground beef were had no flavor. The burger was large and greasy. I don't mind that but was big enough where you would just take bites of the party with no flavor. I would recommend bringing someone in and working with staff and cooks. The hall way by the restrooms had clutter which could lead to bad things. All in all I would recommend driving the extra 10 miles to chilis or Applebee's. Price justified quantity but overall did not justify quality. Did not visit the bar so I will not review that at this time but it looked like a dive bar in your average small town. Nothing wrong with that.

My husband saw the Pepper Pod a few times as he drove by, however we'd never stopped. We ended up having a date weekend and were headed out to the Animal Conservatory and decided to stop in. I was really glad we did! First of all: The parking lot, full of more pot holes than cars and more trucks than people. It's a good old, small town establishment and if they spend the money on asphalt it might affect the good food. So I say, Leave the dirt, mud puddles and keep the food delicious! Staff is great. Some of them look like they have been there since it opened, however they work their butts off and I can't complain. My husband and I went on a Sunday and I was worried about the church traffic. Not bad, we had no wait. Now for the food: Appetizers: Green chili covered potato skins: Good. However the green chili NEEDS to stand alone, toss out the potato skins and JUST eat the chili. Which leads me to my next appetizer. Green Chili con Queso: Really is just a bowl of green chili and some shredded cheese over the top. Forget the chips and the other people you are sharing with. Grab a spoon, pull the bowl towards you and eat away! This stuff needs to be boxed up and brought home with me. Meal: I had a problem choosing between the Chicken fried steak and fried chicken. But when I asked the waitress she said, "My Momma comes in every Sunday and gets it to take home for dinner. Every Sunday". As a small town girl myself, I wasn't going to go against her Mother's advice. My advice to you: GET THE FRIED CHICKEN (and then bring me some. Seriously) My husband had a HUGE burger, but after all the appetizers his stomach was pretty full. He said it was good. Dessert: I don't remember what I had. I remember liking it, however it could just be because the grease from the fried chicken was still on my fingers as I ate it. :) Alcoholic drinks: STRONG, these people put way more alcohol in the drinks than most places. So warm up the tongue and get ready for something that'll slap you around a little.

I really wanted to love this place as my dad was a frequent customer in the '50's. Unfortunately, I was rather disappointed. I had the brisket special which was an exceptionally small portion of meat that had obviously been in the warmer for quite some time. Fortunately, the flavor was good and the sauce was able to overcome the dryness. The side of onion rings were the most beautifully battered I have ever seen but the only thing I could taste was the cooking grease. Looking at the menu, the prices seem quite high but with the salad bar, minimal as it is, are not too far out of line.

Those of you who read my reviews, know I am usually pretty harsh on the Denver food scene as even to get some pre-made chicken and rice takes a solid 15 minutes and also the grocery stores are terrible and there is no produce. Anyway, this restaurant made me wish I was eating in Denver. The saga all began when my boyfriend and I decided to go to Jessica Biel's Wildlife Sanctuary. Before we left I decided to take the second and a half dab of my life. There's some debate whether the dab was too big or whether it's a Butane vs Enail issue, but I was way too high for my comfort zone and then I became very nauseous in the car. Even though I was very stoned and confused I do recall that my boyfriend was very unhappy with his food and mine was also meh. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich and it came on a ciabatta roll which was a flavor that doesn't go with buffalo chicken. The only reason we were there was because we were going to the Jessica Biel Animal Adventure and by the time we finally got out of this restaurant, it was too late to go as it is almost an hour drive back to our house and I had to be at work at 5 so it wouldn't be worth spending $30 to go in the park for 20 minutes. We were also held up by the fact that before going to Pepper Pod, we stopped at the only other local eatery and they ignored us for 12 minutes after bringing us a glass of water which we waited 5 minutes for. Positives about the Pepper Pod, they have wooden 70s style chairs and decor and the chairs are all engraved with the restaurant name. Someday we will get to the Jessica Biel Wild Animal Adventure Park and I will even pay for my boyfriend's ticket because this is the second weekend in a row we have tried and failed to get there.

So we went all the way out here to try this place cause everyone said the steak is great. Seriously, Texas Roadhouse has better steak! My steak was not a very good cut. Had lots of grisle and was overcooked a little. The one thing that was good were the Rocky Mnt. Oysters. I had never tried them before but they were very tasty. Would not reccomend this place unless you just want some Oysters, and then only if you are passing through. Dont make the drive unless you have to.

Prime Rib on Thursday and Saturday. The Prime Rib is actually really good. Food and service are about average for a sit down restaurant. The place must be bigger than it looks because even though the parking lot was full, wait time for a table was less than you'd encounter at a Red Lobster. OK, the decor is probably a little dated and it isn't as brightly lit as a Dennys, but the food is good and seems a lot of people in Hudson like to go there. Now the prime rib is great, and it isn't a "thin" slice either.

Well my wife and I had heard good things about this restaurant and decided to go a bit out of the way and give it a try. I'm from the Northwest originally and as soon as I stepped in I felt like I had went back in time. I've been in dozens of places like this as a kid to a young adult and I felt right at home. My wife ordered the French Dip and I ordered the 'Junk Burger'. I apologize as I cannot remember the full title for the burger but you'll recognize it at once on the menu. My wife's french dip had bacon and cheese on it which is unusual but it worked and was quite tasty. The burger itself was nice and juicy and came on a thick bun. The sheer amount of toppings was dazzling but it worked and really added to the burger. If you are in the mood for some good old fashioned comfort food i recommend this place. I can't wait to try breakfast here.

Almost everything on the menu was either fried or very unhealthy. The spaghetti/meatballs I ordered, the meatballs were so hard I couldn't cut into them with a fork! Service was ok, but it took a long time for us to get our order. Prices were high for quality of food. No one in our party had anything positive to say about the taste of the food.

Great food. Great service. My boyfriend and I are from NY and CA respectfully and while there are many things we LOVE about CO, dining options is not one of them. For some reason I will never understand, chain, bland food dominates this great state. When we do decide to eat out it is a CHORE to find a place that isn't a chain and is reasonably priced. When we do - after much consternation - arrive at a choice, we generally leave the meal disappointed and vow only to eat in from that day forward. So you can imagine our great joy when - after simply deciding to grab a bit of roadside dinner off I76 - we happened upon the Pepper Pod. Expectations and hopes were low as we sat down to order, but the beautifully fresh salad bar began to turn our mood. The rest of the meal - prime rib for me, pan fried pork chops for my guy - was served at a pleasing pace and was -- DRUM ROLL - WONDERFUL, TASTY, PERFECTLY PREPARED. We savored every bite of this meal that included fluffy warm rolls and perfect potatoes with homemade gravy and are ecstatic to live only 40 minutes away. We will be back! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

We loved our burgers!! 3 out of the 5 in our party ordered the junk burger. The onions were a little stringy and hard to bite. But everything else was quite tasty. The onion rings were big and crispy! Certainly worth a try.

This place was so bad it was kinda funny. At one point the food and service was so bad I started looking for video cameras cause I thought we were getting pranked. Hardly any one there...took 5 min to seat us..sat there 15 min ..waited another 30 for the food...showed up cold and over done. Hostess moved us two times and kept giving me crap about where to put the baby high chair. Waitress rude, smudge and angry. My steak was $25 and all fat. Go there if you wanna spend $60 bucks to be treated badly and eat horrible food.
