Believe it or not, I had the best Salmon in Alaska in here...I tried the best restaurants in Anchorage and Fairbanks but wasn't impressed by any. I didn't expect much here... We came here just because it was close to where we are staying and there are no other decent places to eat in 7 or 8 miles. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the menu, the quality of the food and the service. With the kind of food they have, we really thought they must have a retired world famous chef in the kitchen, but when we asked, the lady said there are two 19-year-old girls from Kyrgyzstan...A country near Russia. They also offer a carriage ride for 3 hours...$90 and it includes a meal. We didn't take the ride but I got to see the carriages...they are pretty cute

Black Diamond Grill is not a bad meal, there are just better options for food around Denali, especially at Black Diamond's price point. I had the fish and chips sandwich, which was okay. The bread was thick and dense, which made it difficult to appreciate any of the fish's texture, or even much from the bed of coleslaw it was served on. I tried many of the pieces separately and they were pretty good, but it was just tough to enjoy the sandwich in its original form. My travel mates both had dishes with salmon, and they were summarily disappointed in the quality of the fish. While the menu advertised fresh fish, they both felt like their fish was still cold and not particularly tasting. Both of their dinners were perfectly edible, but a little disappointing. The service was definitely satisfactory. We didn't wait too long for food and it never felt like we had trouble getting ahold of someone when we needed something. Also, unlike many other restaurants in the area, Black Diamond is tucked way back away from the road, so if you do decide to go, turn around mile 147 and drive for a couple miles.

The interior is warm and inviting and there is plenty of room for a larger groups. The menu is surprisingly pretty extensive and features lots of Alaskan favorites like salmon, cod, and bison. It's a little pricey but the food is obviously freshly prepared and large portioned. I ordered the bison burger prepared medium well and I got a large filling burger with a ton of fresh cut fries. I wouldn't describe the grill as a memorable experience but this is a great stop for a meal before heading into Denali.

The food here was OK, but not standout. Lots of missed opportunity! The service was quite slow on the evening we visited. The television was quite distracting. We were there on a Sunday evening, and did avoid driving through the construction to get something to eat.

The food is usually quite good here, as is the service. A little pricey, but quality is high enough to make it worthwhile. The baked brie is especially delicious, if you're into that sort of thing. Atmosphere is a little blah, unless you can get a table by the window. View is pleasant.

Overall very pleasant meal. We had excellent service and the view of the mountains was a treat. We had the bison and halibut and both were ok just not super. The bison is very lean and closer to steak than the bison I've had elsewhere. The pastas were creamy an decadent however and portions quite large. Enjoyed their selection of Juneau beers from Alaskan brewery on tap. Place could use a bit of character (some cool old time photos on the wall look like a start) - but a competent meal with no complaints whatsoever. Surprisingly good wine list btw.

This place was highly recommended to us by a number of people. However, both the food and atmosphere were less than average! The house salad was the best thing we had. I would highly suggest going elsewhere. PS. Do NOT get any pasta! And the bus ride is a joke!

The prime rib was somewhat overcooked (ordered medium rare, received medium towards well-done). The seafood sampler was half the size of comparable dishes at other restaurants but at full-price. The "spinach" lasagna was mostly meat with hints of spinach but reported as tasty otherwise. Dessert was a disappointment: the "warm" triple chocolate cake was not only cold but tasted stale, Prices: Ranged from reasonable ($17 lasagna) to over-priced ($30 half-plate seafood sampler). Most entrees $15-30. Decor: Open and bright, with many windows overlooking the adjacent golf course. Service: Also uneven. The server became less attentive as the meal wore on. Once entrees were brought out, he did not check drinks/water and seemed very perfunctory after that.
