Food was great, presentation was excellent! Service not quite up to par with the prices, which were high for the area. I checked their Facebook page before going to make sure there was something on the menu for my preteen grandsons. FB page was not up to date as it indicated burgers available and menu items at $10-30. No burgers and most items over $30. They do not take credit cards, so go with lots of cash.

The Tunnel Inn has changed hands. My second time eating there since the ownership has changed. It was also the first time in years we saw empty tables. It seems they are short of help also. It would be wise to let the new chef/cook make his own menu rather than use a menu that after 5 years could be shortened and freshened. The three menus at our table were all different, each missing a page here and there The hostess seemed untrained on how to proceed on a busy night when short on wait-staff. It's okay to be busy and shorthanded, it happens. However, there was total lack of communication and the staff doesn't work well together. Our table was for three and was only set for two. We had to wait to eat because we had to ask for a table setting. ( Hostess??? You could do this)We ordered appetizers and they were brought to our table in the same manner a hurried worker at McDonalds shoves the paper sack through the car window at 5:30 pm, and without knife, fork, etc... the majority of the wide calamari strips were fried so hard you could use them as putty knives. BTW the rolls were the best thing we had all night!!!! But having the waitress act as if she was doing us the biggest favor in the world to present bread an hour after arriving and AFTER the appetizer... just ticked me off. She acted like the bread basket was extra an service,"oh would you like me to get you bread?" When an apology for not getting the bread would have been appreciated, but that was never acknowledged. They were out of side salads??? So we had the Ceasar salad which was grilled. My first bite was full of grit, oh well... try another bite and thought i was going to break or chip a tooth on the grit/sand I have no idea what it was in the salad. The walleye flavor was meh, a way too big FILLET chocked full of bones. I realize fish have bones, but a fillet... This fish was like eating a porcupine. New York strip was not a great cut... lot's of trimmings left over for a NY strip. What the waitress and hostess did not get was you don't come to or leave the table empty handed. If the plate is finished, remove it, if drinks are empty, offer refills. There is no reason the hostess can't help with this on a busy night. You wouldn't be so busy if you asked the customer if they needed anything or if you would anticipate what people need for their dinner... like forks, a drink... a table not full of empty plates. The food was meh, the service was horrible. It took nearly 1- 1/2 hours before our entree order was taken. Giving one dessert for three people to share as a sorry for a bad meal, and poor service... Not good. A heartfelt apology with no excuses for the poor experience would have been better. The poor experience was not that they were short handed it was how the waitstaff treated us and that the food was not worth the wait. This isn't the first time the waitstaff has treated us poorly here. Though it is the last... The appetizer, salad, entree none were fit to eat. None...

It's hard to accurately rate this place as we were seated and after 20 minutes hadn't received water or menus.

We had a business meeting and were looking for nice place that could accommodate about 20 people. With less then a day's notice they happily took our reservation. Our drinks (primarily wine) came quickly, but the food was pretty slow. The appetizers were out fairly quick, but the rest took quite awhile. I realize we had a large party, but well over 40 minutes to get our food. It wasn't a big deal since we were socializing, but none the less the wait is noteworthy. The food was quite good. I had a steak which was great and the rest in the party enjoyed their food ranging from halibut to venison. The chef came out and asked us how everything tasted, a nice touch as this is not common in Wyoming. A heads up, they do not take cards! Have cash or a checkbook- I had neither on a $800.00 bill, YIKES! Luckily one of those in our party new the owner, so they just billed our company.

An unexpected, exceptional experience while visiting the small town of Story! It was so difficult to decide what to order, there were so many choices! From tapas to bison ravioli to filet or pheasant. Food presentation is top notch. The wine list offers many great choices and you can't beat the location...historic log cabin.

This is pure serendipity! Delicious food , comfortable atmosphere and friendly people. We happened to go on a Thursday night which was tapas night so we were able to sample a number of selections among our party. Each one was as good as the next. A definite destination for our next Wyoming vacation!

Norm is an amazing chef. His fish is flown in fresh and meats are usually prime. He knows the business. His prices are reasonable for the quality and there is a wide variety of prices (not everything is above $30 as the other reviewer stated). Be ready for a full sit down meal. He as special deals every evening but Saturday night and is supportive of the locals. If you are a traveler, this a gem. My husband and I use Yelp as our resource. And do bring cash. There is an ATM inside if you need. If you like chocolate, try the Red Fox cake for dessert! Or Key Lime pie-yum!
