We've stayed at Signal Mountain Lodge a number of times. Accommodations are good, and rooms clean. We've eaten at Trapper Grill probably a dozen times -- at least once each visit to the area. Good food, GREAT views. Nachos are worth the calories but are HUGE. Be forewarned, even the half order is enough for two unless you are REALLY hungry. Full order, better have several friends helping! Sadly, the last time we visited (July 2010) the service was rude (mostly the manager). It was a wonderful day, it was 2 pm and when we asked for an outside table (worth the wait BTW), we were told it would be at least 15 to 20 minutes, but they could seat us inside immediately. We said we'd wait. No one else was waiting for a table, as it was late-ish for lunch. That's when the hostess and then the manager copped an attitude, and though a table cleared in less than 5 minutes - we were made to wait the 20 minutes... The poor waitress kept apologizing for the situation. When we tried to pay our bill - you don't pay the waitress, sadly, the manager decided he needed to "ring out first". Another 5 to 10 minutes wasted, while he counted SLOWWWWLY. Enjoy the food, and the view but bring a bag load of patience!

A pretty good value for staying in a lodge in a national park and you get free wireless too! We stayed in cabin 166 which overlooked the lake. It was a 1-bedroom cabin with a living area and kitchenette. The location is just about 15 minutes drive from Jenny Lake and just 5 minutes drive from the popular wildlife and fall foliage spots of Oxbow Bend and Willow Flats. The decor is rather 1970s but it's still a great value.

We were here on the first day of the season, May 8th, they literally just opened. They were running a special rate on cabins, so call to book the staff is very nice.(have some patients, their who system works on wifi) We booked a one room fireplace cabin for the night and man, it was perfect! Rustic looking but super comfortable! Heat, bathroom, hot water and a full size bed that was actually comfortable. No weird smell in the cabin and beautiful views from the porch (with chairs). We cooked breakfast and lunch on our backpacking stove on the porch and enjoyed the Peaks Restaurant for dinner overlooking Jackson Lake. Can't speak to water activities, but I hope to come back in the summer and take advantage of the boat dock and such. Good hiking near by as well as tons of wildlife.

The upper (as opposed to lower) lakefront cabins afford breathtaking morning views with the sun coming from behind you. You won't find a better spot for breakfast in any restaurant, but the on-site store has limited selection, so consider buying groceries before you arrive at the park. Building construction is not super-solid, so springing for the extra $50 (in our case) for an upper unit also helps in case your downstairs neighbors like to be awake before or after you do.

This review is only for the Signal Mountain sunset float down the Snake and as the 5-stars should tell you, it was f'ing fantastic! We didn't see a ton of wildlife. Just a few bald eagles, a beaver and a bunch of geese, but there was just something about seeing Wyoming from the Snake ... at sunset ... while hearing stories of the area from our awesome guide, Nick, that made it one of my favorite nights of our vacation. A few notes. Don't worry about getting wet, it was a really gentle float, but be sure to bring layers as the temperature dropped considerably from the time we left at 6pm to the time we got back to the Lodge at 9pm. And if you want, bring snacks and bevvies. We brought a small cooler and some plastic cups (they don't want glass falling into the river) and the chips and beers were a perfect addition to the trip. And for anyone reading this review at Signal Mountain ... Nick is AWESOME!!! Keep that man on your staff and double his salary, would ya!?! ;)

We had a cabin on the lake. Probably the best one. For location I would give it a 5. But it was so gross and old I could not deal. They could really stand to update the cabins and charge a fee more bucks.

This place is a bit tacky in terms of decor, but it is actually quite spacious. Each room is a small cabin with spacious standing shower (like you're at the gym where there's not individual enclosed glass shower areas). Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided in these dispensers (again, like at the gym). Beds are comfortable enough. After a bit, despite the corny decor, it starts to grow on you. I particularly enjoyed the small wooden table in the room and the rocking chairs on the front porch. Parking near your cabin is no guarantee, so that's a small downside. Another is that there is not internet in the cabin. For that you have to go to the main office and use their wi-fi. But when your'e in this part of the country I suppose wi-fi is the last thing you should be concerned about. Overall, this is a great place to regroup after or before a day of exploring Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons.

Just ended a fantastic 5 night stay at Signal Mtn Lodge and it was excellent experience. We stayed in cabin 139 with basically 2 bedrooms and 3 full beds. Be aware that you can put 6 people in here but the pass through to the bath room and sink are through a bed room and that is the only negative I have to say. All else is superb. shower was excellent with good flow and constant temp. Beds were very comfortable, fluffy and warm and so nice to crawl into. All was clean. We had a huge porch we invited our friends over to do excursion planning. Privacy great with no one below or above and next door (cabin 140) had to use the same steps outside so if you leave the windows open you will likely hear some noise from neighbors using stairs or starting cars but essentially walls were reasonably thick. In general we could park right outside cabin. Creaky floors yes but it's a cabin for Pete's sake what do you expect? We could only really hear our own creaks except for the common stair well shared by one other cabin. The staff was outstanding. There was no coffee maker or microwave in our room but the office has thermoses of coffee hot chocolate and tea bags you fill on way out starting at 0530. When we needed to leave earlier for sunrise shooting we just asked and they had coffee ready for us at 0500. The office has a place to fill up water bottles and get ice bags what a great touch and we used that a lot. Our room had a small fridge too. Great central location close to Oxbow and the Elk Meadows. About 40 min from Mormon Row. Remember to factor in 45-35 mph for distances. Dining at the Peaks was excellent and we ate most breakfast and dinners there. The menu was varied and on the sub gourmet side with bison manicotti etc and prices were reasonable. I would rate it 4 stars out of 5. We had very little wait time ever. I think the lodge was fully booked while we were there. Good wine selection too. We had two small dogs who were accommodated and good places to walk. The lake was very close and the silence and stars at night were amazing. The environment was so relaxing we could have just sat on the porch and looked out at the lake all day. We had a partial view of the lake from our cabin and looked over another row of cabins. Safety and security never a question. Thanks to Johanna for the service from check in to check out and the unexpected refund when we left a day early and you were able to rent the cabin. Although there are several places to stay in the Park we will look no further. It was perfect for us. If you want more upscale or grand hotel like accommodations with shopping look at Jackson Lodge.

Tried to get into the fine dining with five and a toddler. Told less than a twenty minute wait. They took every party ahead of us, at 45 minutes they said we were next. At an hour we gave up. Wouldn't move tables together or try to find any solution.

We came here twice on our visit. The food was good and not too expensive. The nachos are popular but aside from their vast size aren't remarkable. Skip the fish and chips but my son loved the bison burger with chili. Salads were interesting and excellent. The fun guy was really yummy and vegetarian.

The word "amazing" doesn't do justice to describe the cabins. We stayed here for 2 nights during our trip and were so glad we did. The cabin we stayed in (# 111) was spacious with a private bath and nice porch. It was a short walk to the beach on Jackson Lake and a breathtaking view of the Grand Tetons. There are 2 restaurants at the Lodge, one serving a more pub grub food and a more upscale restaurant. We went pub grub and couldn't have been more happy. For the price and location this is a true winner. I highly recommend the cabins and would stay here again.

Way too expensive for what you get. Cabin feels like a motel room that hasn't been updated since the 70s. Wifi is only available in the office. Breakfast was NOT included. The only nice thing about the hotel is the location.

After a day of hiking through the marvelous Tetons, this spot delivers great beer, tasty food and a convivial atmosphere in a lakeside setting with a view of the mountains. What more could one want? Everything we had was very good - the garlicky sweet potato fries, smoked trout cobb salad, and bison burger. The salad was especially delicious, abundant and flavorful with an enormous array of ingredients, topped by trout that was fresh and moist with a hint of cedar flavor. Thankfully, our server let us take our time easing from course to course as the sun began to set over Jenny Lake. Definitely an experience I'd repeat on my next visit to the area.

This is absolutely the best place to stay anywhere in the Teton/Yellowstone area. Comfortable beds, charming rooms, amazing lake views, and the best food in either park... These are just a few of the perks you'll enjoy here! This lodge is situated in the center of Grand Teton National Park, a 30 minute drive to Jackson Hole airport or to the south gate of Yellowstone. It's just a quick drive to Jenny Lake, swimming at String Lake, and numerous hiking trails. The property has several amenities onsite, including a gas station, convenience/general store, campgrounds, boat launch, casual restaurant (Trapper's Grill), fine dining restaurant (The Peaks), souvenir shop, and pub (Deadman's Bar). Both restaurants are surprisingly good by any standards and very reasonably priced - a welcome change from the crappy, overpriced park food you'll find everywhere else! The reception/lobby building doubles as a multi-use/ lounge area for guests. There is wi-fi throughout and separate areas with tables, chairs, & couches for working and relaxing. Two communal computers are available as well as cable TV for your daily fix. In the morning there is great fresh-brewed coffee for you to enjoy on the back porch or take on the road. You can also re-fill on ice here - They dole it out for free by the sackful. We booked late and had to do a room change for our two-night stay. The first night we were in a "rustic cabin", which turned out to be a super charming, cozy log cabin with two heated bedrooms, bathroom, and mini-fridge. The beds were so comfortable, this was the best night's sleep of the trip. As an added bonus, we happened to have a great view of Lake Jackson! The second night we moved into one of the more expensive "upper lake view" cabins. The view here was totally unobstructed and panoramic... Awesome, basically! This cabin had a kitchenette with burners, full-sized fridge, and microwave. There were two queen beds and a sleeper sofa. Though this cabin had a better view and was a little bigger than where we were the first night, we still preferred the more charming rustic cabin, which was outfitted with comfy beds for five of us (two queens + 1 twin). We signed up for a scenic float tour down the snake river, which I highly recommend. It was $60/head - the same price as float trips run by outside vendors. Our guide, Caleb, shared all kinds of cool information about the park history, geology, wildlife, etc. He also knew all of the best places to see big game. Great tour! Definitely stay at Signal Lodge if you are looking for a home base in the Tetons! Check out my separate reviews for both restaurants.

The view is breath-taking and they have boats for rent which was nice. The rooms were ok. The beds were waaaaaay to soft and I couldnt get a a good nites sleep at all. The location however is really nice.

Expect unabashed natural beauty, but don't expect luxurious accommodation. Signal Mountain Lodge rooms are almost as rustic as the lodge, but now include the basic necessities of electricity, indoor plumbing and a mini-fridge. Our visit was too short and too late in the season to take it all in this time. We are already looking forward to a longer stay in the area during peak season so that we can canoe, hike, fish, and of course drive up into nearby Yellowstone National Park.

I stayed at Signal Mountain Lodge for only one night recently with my brother, his wife & my mom. We got a 2 room cabin facing Jackson Lake. The cabin was rustic (read: sparse) and appeared to have been converted to 2 rooms from one room. The door between the rooms had so many holes in it we could see the light shining thru, but that was kind of charming, really. The wierd part was that the sink was in my brother's room and the bathroom was in the small and strangely arranged entryway. No problems, just no privacy either. Each room opened out to the deck which you could walk off of to get to the lake. The location is amazing, right across Jackson Lake from Mount Moran. I've never had views like this at a hotel or resort before. There are not many eateries in Grand Teton park, so we ate at Signal Mountain Lodge for all our meals. The service was slightly slow, and it seemed that the wait staff were worn out, but the food was good. I highly recommend the Elk Meatloaf for dinner. It was great: sweet, not gamy, and not dried out. For breakfast, I wanted the Rancher (of some such name) egg sandwhich, but I wanted it with their bison sausage. Although it wasn't on the menu the kitchen staff was able to make my ingenious creation and it kept me happy & full for our intense 4 hour hike. Expect to pay a little more money for the location & the convenience of staying within the park. But man, it's worth it to stay here & wake up on the Lake!

The gas station pumps need a little bit of updating since you can not pay at the pump and you have to hold the gas trigger the whole time. Other then that the workers seem to provide excellent customer service and the bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The convenience store has a little bit of everything.

The lodge was our first stop after driving from the southern exit of Yellowstone. The lodge is situated in a beautiful location with lake front spot and beautiful scenery. We also booked a snake river float tour and ate dinner at The Peaks Restaurant. Floating down the snake river was great and we got to see a soaring bald eagle with "dinner" trout in it's claws. We also came across a moose. The lodge looked like a great place to stay with a nice vibrant vibe.

My husband and I stayed in a deluxe country room at the Signal Mt. Lodge for 2 nights in October. The lodge in general is nice, but not super luxurious. We still payed almost $250/night. The room had a fantastic view of Mt. Moran, the Tetons, and Jackson Lake. Being out there for sunrise and sunset was fantastic! Since it's in a national park there was no television in the room, but you could always go down to the bar or lobby area where there were computers, a big tv, games, free wi-fi, and books. It was the last week of the season so activities and were sparse. Almost everything in the park was shut down. We were mainly there just to hike around, but it would have been nice if we could rent some equipment to go out on Jackson Lake. I didn't see any wildlife except for some deer in the campgrounds by the gas station. Only one of the restaurants was open and it was better than expected. We had dinner and breakfast. We both got the fish and chips for dinner. The fish was awesome! The chips were so-so. Breakfast was average. The service was good and everyone was nice to us. Our room was a pretty good size and had a cute layout. The front window looked straight at Mt. Moran. It was nice sitting on the couch in the morning with the fireplace going while watching the sunrise. There were two chairs on the porch where you could sit and watch the sunset. The bathroom was tiny, but functional. There's no hair dryer in the room, but you can borrow one from the front desk. The shower had no water pressure. You might as well hold a watering can above my head because that would be an improvement. The bed was comfortable. I think the previous guests had a dog and nobody cleaned the room after they left because there was dog hair EVERYWHERE! It was on the comforter, the floor, and on the couch too. At first I thought it was from someone who had short, wavy, blond hair, but there was too much of it to have come from a human. I should have complained to the management, but I didn't. Overall, we had a good time and would return again. The reasons why I didn't give Signal Mt. Lodge 5 stars is because of the amount of dog hair in the room, the lack of activities offered in October, and steep price per night so late in the seaon.

This is a great Lodge right at Jackson Lake. It has beautiful views of the Tetons, IF they are not covered in clouds as they were during our stay. We stayed in the cabins with no lake view and they were extremely spacious and comfortable. The lodge is a nice gateway to the Tetons and has a lot of outdoor activities to offer (hiking, sailing, rafting, kayaking ...). There are two restaurants and a bar in the lodge and the food selection was surprisingly good (for a NP lodge)! The dishes were very tasty and nicely decorated. A good bar is open 'til late and was pretty popular despite the pre-season uncrowdedness. Unfortunately, we had to leave too soon to fully enjoy it. The drive to JAC is about 35 min from the lodge. We will try to come back again!
