Mizu is all we really knew until a few long-time locals mentioned Sushi Boat to us. Of course, you take a look at the joint and instantly question any good reviews. That said, the variety and quality of sushi beats the pants off of anywhere else in town. I love variety and creative rolls, and Sushi Boat delivers on that part. Know that the service is slow, to be sure, and you really should come in with moderate to low expectations on atmosphere. I've also been to the OTB next door and enjoyed edamame and other apps/sides. The special event menu they have is overpriced and mediocre, but it's also not sushi. Depending on who's there, you can order off the Sushi Boat menu instead.

Love this place. It's the only one of three sushi places I've been to in Laramie since moving here. Along with the excellent Mexican restaurant Corona Village, it's behind a creepy motel near the interstate. As you walk in don't be discouraged by the OTB to the left or the karaoke room down the hall that looks like a Lions Club or Kiwanis meeting room. The real gem is past the signs inside the restaurant. Bedecked with paneling wallpaper featuring White Tail Deer and mallard ducks (it's Wyoming, after all), you'll find delicious sushi and very attentive service. Reasonably priced. The soba noodles and Korean dishes are also worth ordering. For a place that should have so many strikes against it, it's a real gem in the Gem City - which is the same for Laramie itself.

I've been here before and had a decent experience but tonight was not positive. The calamari appetizer was gross, as was the volcano roll--I'm pretty sure the special sauce was cheez whiz. My partner's dish was beef bolgogi and was grisly. The octopus was ok. Very nice waitperson. But the food was below mediocre and expensive. Taking a break from here for a while.

Before writing this review, I feel that it's unjust that this restaurant even got one star. Last night two of my friends went to eat at sushi boat and we ordered three sushi rolls. The sushi tasted like it was all pre-made, it was disgusting. We all ordered a soda and as the menu stated "add vanilla vodka $1.00" on top of the $2.50 soda. When we got the bill they charged us $4.00 extra for the alcohol. This was odd so we asked the waitress about the extra charges. She claimed there was nothing she could do about it and offered for us to speak with the owner since the owner was the only one allowed to change anything on the bill. I have gone there before because it was tradition to get cheap sushi and knew the owner so I asked to asked to speak with her. The waitress seemed really nervous and asked us if we were sure we wanted to speak with her. The owner comes out and begins yelling at our table saying that we owed her the money even though her menu says otherwise. The owner was so angry that she began screaming and came within inches of my face. She felt compelled to start banging her hands on our table and hit my arm after I told her I'd pay for the bogus charge but she'd never see me at her restaurant again. I got concerned after she became physical and after asking for her to take our cards to pay she blocked me into my booth and wouldn't let me leave. The waitress took our cards nervously and as she backed up after screaming at us for about 5 minutes she chased us out of the establishment. This woman is emotionally unstable. You've been warned.

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! There was a group of us from work who each ordered different bento lunch boxes. My co-worker ordered the simpler chicken teriyaki bento while I ordered the same but as a sushi boat upgrade (which costs $3.99 more). It took over half an hour of waiting. Not only did she get charged my price, we both got the same exact food! There was NO difference in what we ordered. When we presented the issue, the owner threw a fit, kept rolling her eyes and said she gave her "extra" food because we were rushing her. What?! My co-worker didn't even ask for more, let alone charge her for it!! BOO, Sushi boat owner, BOO. That pretty much cut Sushi Boat off our list!!!!

I have eaten sushi all over the world. Based on Yelp reviews I came to this establishment with low expectations. I'm glad I expected little because the so called food I just ate at Sushi bowl has got to be the absolute worst sushi I've ever had. I'd rather buy sushi at my local HEB grocery store then eat here. The sweet shrimp smelled like cat urine, the so called Toro was at best the upper loin and not the belly loin and was still frozen, my kids who love sushi would not eat any of it. They ate the rice, seared tuna, smoked eel and bulgolgi. We were traveling and I didn't want to get them dressed for one of the better looking establishments. They wanted sushi for dinner and I'm always game but thus will go down as a lesson learned. I might go back to the hotel room and take a double dose of antibiotics to offset the likely baciilis infection that is coming.

Was headed to a 4-star Thai place when we saw a sign for Korean BBQ. Since we lived in Seoul for 3 years we are always on the lookout. Wasn't expecting to find any in Wyoming and we were pleasantly surprised by the BBQ. Spring rolls, egg rolls and super spider rolls were all good. If you're 7-year old is addicted to sushi, get the spider roll without spicy sauce/topping. Fried rice was kinda sad with frozen mixed vegetables but it's for the kids so oh well.

I really like sushi, but don't have it often (enough). So when, my sushi buddy suggested Sushi Boat for dinner and promised to help with the selections, I jumped at the opportunity. It took a while for us to make our choices from the extensive menu so the miso soup and small salad served shortly after we sat down was a very nice starter. Our meal came on a large platter and was beautiful to behold! Thumbs up for the Alaska roll and smoked salmon nigiri. My favorite was the Crunchy Spicy Roll special (spicy tuna roll with a delicious fried crab meat topping). It was one of the specials that evening - - - I'd ask for it again. Five stars for Sushi Boat! Our dinner was delicious and very reasonably priced. My buddy and I appreciated the very friendly wait staff, wonderful menu variety, and loved the most excellent Wyoming-Asian fusion décor!!!

I am a major fan. This is the place to go if you want sushi on a budget. It is also the only place in town that serves Korean food! No, it's not the most authentic. But it's close enough. For a po-dunk town like Laramie to serve Korean food, it is as good as it gets. And you don't have to pay an arm or leg. I'll take it!

I was a bit nervous at first. No one here. I came over the late lunch hour and was pleasantly surprised at the attention and service. The sushi was great.

Holy wow is this place good; it's a shame they hid it away in an old Travelodge hotel instead of putting it out on the main drag so people would know it's there. Really friendly sushi chefs. Great hand rolls. Tasty miso soup. Decent prices. They had Korean food of all kinds too, we didn't try any but we saw it going by and it looked delicious. All kinds of specials. We stuffed ourselves. This is probably the best sushi restaurant in southeastern Wyoming. Try it! Right next to I-80 if you're driving by.

This is a family run restaurant in a motel off of 3rd St. (U.S. 287) south of the downtown near I-80. The owners are originally from South Korea. The Korean food is excellent and as authentic as I have ever seen in the U.S. My Korean visitors to Laramie rate the food quality very highly. I also travel to Korea once or twice a year and find the food a real treat. Besides my Korean friends, I have introduced many Chinese and Japanese to Sushi Boat and they have brought their friends to the restaurant subsequently. The sushi chef is also a family member and when asked will tell you exactly how fresh every item is and will make recommendations that are good. The homemade kimchi is always interesting. The Japanese items are quite good, too. There are frequently one or two items not on the menu that are excellent and experiments. You have to ask what these are. Eventually the successful experiments make it to the menu, but only if enough people order them. The only item on the menu to avoid is the hamburger. On Friday and Saturday nights the place is packed until quite late by Laramie standards. There is even Karaoke in a secondary room.

Don't let the shabby exterior fool you; we had a great experience here and will definitely come back. The sushi was absolutely excellent, the service was extremely attentive, and there was a broader selection of special rolls than you will find at Mizu. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you can make it for their bargain lunch pricing on weekdays.
