I thought Crowbar & grill was great! I waited for our pizza's to go at the bar, & Tim was a great bartender/server! :) If I come back to Laramie, WY I will come back to visit!

I eat a burger 1-2 times a year so when I want a burger it better be a good one. The 'coulis' special at the Crowbar totally fit the bill. It was delicious, with wonderful flavors and the beef seemed very fresh and perfectly cooked. The pad thai fries are a surprise -- we cleaned the plate of sweet/salty/spicy fries, but would have liked them more with booze or if the fries were bigger (these are like shoestring - very thin - my personal preference is for thicker fries). I've also had a wonderful brunch here, so Crowbar is definitely a place to check out in Laramie!

Great burgers, pizza, beer list, and vibe. A hip place in town, but family friendly too. Have tried all the burgers...all good though the falcon's my fave (leeks & feta!). Pad thai fries are unique and delicious, and the poutine is solid too.

Fantastic food. Pad Thai fries are amazing and the bacon cheese Styx also. Cucumber fizz very nice addition. Not fancy but very good. A wyoming treat.

Tasty burgers, awesome pizzas and good choice of beers! Breakfast in weekends is pretty damn good too! My only complaint would be a lack of additional menu options.

On a normal day, I would probably have given this place 4 stars. It's good, don't get me wrong, but I'm picky with my 5 star reviews. However - on the day that my friends and I went here, the power went out because of a crazy storm cell that was over the town. And we were starving. The waitstaff were super professional and took care of us regardless. We still got our food, though I suspect just in the nick of time (the pizza oven was off, but the grill was still operational, I believe). The thai fries are awesome. I have never even thought about that, but I'm glad we took a chance and ordered. Drinks were tasty. Fun to eat in the dark, too. Our waitress came up and said that their point of sale was down, and they could only take cash. Additionally, she didn't know how much we owed. So, she just requested that we pay what we think we should and that she hoped we had an awesome day and that our drive was safe. Wow. I know other joints that would have used calculators, ledgers, and hours just to tell us the bill. And then demand we find a way to pay. We figured up our rough total based on the menu prices, added what we thought taxes would be, and still tipped 20% with the cash that we had. She was extremely grateful. If you're driving through, visiting, or a local - this place is worth a visit or two.

You know that mouthgasm you have when flavors explode in your mouth? No? Well, get thee to the Crowbar and order a Falcon burger. Oh my sweet baby Buddha. It would never occur to me to caramelize leeks and put them on a burger, but I'll be damned if it's not a tasty addition. And that horseradish aioli will haunt your dreams on a regular basis. I have to add, though, that the bun itself was quite stellar. In all, I had low expectations walking in, but the burger absolutely blew me away. My only complaint was that I ordered it medium, but it came out medium-rare. Next time I know to go for medium-well or well-done. But wait! I'm not finished! Before I even got to the burger, I was facing a plate of poutine. Now, mind you, I have absolutely nothing to compare this to, because I've spent the better part of 30 years trying to find poutine (without actually traveling to Canada). That said, I have a new favorite comfort food. And you know a comfort food is perfect when it reheats well and tastes even better the next day. And then there's the beer selection. Now, that's what I'm talkin' about. I like a good list of variety and lesser knowns/locals. The selection at Crowbar absolutely does not disappoint. I have a feeling we might be regulars here soon.

Here's the thing about Laramie, WY: Good food options that you can pair with a nice variety of craft beer is EXTREMELY limited in Laramie. Beer and food pairing is personally important to me. The homebrewer in me loves that these guys take beer seriously and the foodie in me loves that they take ubiquitous bar food and elevate it with gourmet tweaks that really impress me. The food options seem a little limited, but remember this is a BAR & grill. They don't have to make food that would be out of spec to the normal bar & grill business model. The bar food that they do make is worth coming back to on its own, but when you through in the huge variety of excellent craft beer - you have a real winner! These guys rock with great service and interesting shenanigans going on in the back-line. It kept my wife and guests entertained. The Thai Fries are awesome. I can't believe I haven't seen that anywhere else. The burgers may be small for some (6 oz), but they are thick with flavorful juices! The simple, yet clever combination of ingredients speak to the skill and experience of the chef. I hope that he/she continues to find those gems of inspiration to build another perfect burger. I would drag anyone in here any day of the week regardless if they wanted to or not. I would bet them money that they would love it, then I'd get food and I'd get paid. Cheers!

The food was fantastic. A great mixture of flavors on an all American hamburger. We couldn't figure out what to order so we each ordered one and split them. The Raven is good. The Crowburger has a fresh taste but the Kingbird was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The Pad Thai Fries didn't disappoint either. They are a huge serving for many to share. ENJOY!

Crowbar is a great bar with excellent beer & draught beer selections. I've had dinner and brunch here, and it's nothing super special. Their spinach and strawberry salad with steak is good, and their fries are ok. For brunch I had the "Incan," a quinoa bowl with garlic, roasted slivered almonds, avocado, and an egg. That was pretty darn tasty and too huge for me to finish. Great place for drinks, ok for food.

In town for a University of Wyoming college tour and the football game against UNC. Hubby chose this place after looking at Yelp reviews as our last dinner in town. Very friendly hostess/waiter. Only complaint was our appetizer was lost. They ended up putting it in anyway and it was free. We took most of it back to the room for a snack later for our son. Fries with gravy and cheese, the name escapes me at the moment. Hubby had a burger. My son and I shared a 10 inch pizza with pepperoni and sausage and I had a side salad. It was the best damn pizza that I've had in years. A bit spicy, and I couldn't place what all they used as far as spices go. It was so good that I told our waitress how much I loved the pizza. The place wasn't much to look at and I was surprised to see no televisions in the bar. Good variety of beer choices which my hubby and I appreciated. Liked seeing two dinosaurs perked below the beer list on the chalkboard. If I pass by Laramie again, I'd swing back in.

What a great little spot in Old Town Laramie! I've been here a couple of times now and have been pretty impressed. They have a great menu of appetizers, fresh salads, interesting and creative burgers and thin-crust pizzas. The appetizers were just okay. We had their poutine which didn't have enough cheese to go around. Their Thai fries arrived a bit cold and soggy. I wouldn't order them again. The salads I've had were pretty good. They had bright green lettuce instead of iceberg, which was impressive. The burgers we had were hit and miss. Be sure to let your server know how you want your burger cooked. The times we've been there we've ordered them medium-well. One time they arrived just right, and another time they were over cooked. All of the combinations we've had have been great. I especially liked the peanut butter, bacon, banana combo. The pizzas are where they really hit it. Every combination we have had has been excellent. Be sure to check out the daily specials. Friday has a great beer/pizza deal.

One of the best burgers I have ever eaten and at a great price. Local ingredients for $9. Fries are more but also delicious. Service was great especially considering how busy they were. Beer selection was excellent and the price was right. Food took about 10 minutes. Great atmosphere, music and staff. This is the best place we have eaten on our vacation here. After a long day hiking the burger and beer were great!

From what I understand, the Crowbar got off to a rocky start last year, but I can say that it made a quick recovery, and it has quickly become on of my favorite establishments in Laramie. I only started frequenting the Crowbar after it had been open for a couple of months, so I think they had most of their kinks worked out by my first visit. As a vegan, it is tricky finding good, reliable establishments at which to eat, and thankfully the Crowbar has some pretty good offerings for my ilk. While there are a wide variety of specialty pizzas, none of them are vegan, but the good news is that the pizza dough is vegan and they have a large number of vegan-friendly toppings. By the way, their dough is quite tasty! Their regular shoestring french fries are delicious, too. I tried their Thai fries a couple of times and they tend to be a little too soggy and they are fairly weak on spiciness. The best thing about the Crowbar is its beer selection and its beer prices. Compared to any other bar in town, the Crowbar has a big selection of beers on tap, and they are constantly switching them out for new, tasty seasonals and weekly choices, so there is always something new to try. Their happy hour and daily specials on mixed drinks and beer are probably the best in town. There are a couple of other bars right around the corner that really cannot compete price-wise with the Crowbar's beer prices. Overall, the Crowbar is a great addition to the Laramie restaurant and bar scene. P.S. The Sunday afternoon bar trivia is a blast!

The Crowbar and Grill is doing three things right: food, beverages, and atmosphere. This place is by far my favorite place to relax in town after a long week. Here's a quick overview before we get into the review. Best Burger: The Falcon Best Pizza: The Sledgehammer Best Appetizer: The Poutine Best Beer: Depends on your taste, but I like the Moose Drool Tips: -They sell pizza by the slice while they are open, including through 2 a.m. on weekends. -They regularly have promotions on busy Laramie days (such as Border War, Jubilee Days, Homecoming, etc). -Their taps are all microbrews, most from Wyoming and Colorado. -Their frog legs appetizer is surprisingly very tasty and spicy. The Crowbar and Grill has Laramie's best classic American food (burgers, fries, and pizzas) option and the most tasty beer selection. The menu is limited to the basics, and a few appetizers, but it prepares those items extremely well. The burgers, which are locally sourced, are the best in town. Fries are generally delicious but are inconsistently salted. If you have a salt preference, tell the server when you order. The pizzas are also easily the best in town. They feature creative toppings and expand your pizza imagination. Beyond the food and beverages, Crowbar's atmosphere sets it apart from other restaurants. You can tell from the food items, to the drink selection, to the crowbar insignia on the the metal backdrop, to the hand-crafted wood furnishings, that the owners put a lot of care into the every aspect of the restaurants/bar. The 2-hour long trivia on Sunday afternoons is very fun and highly competitive, drawing in many local grad students and professors. Live music is generally a weekly occurrence, and background music is usually a college-aged fusion of indie, alternative and EDM (although whoever plays the music really likes Hot Chip). For many people in town, Crowbar is a place to free themselves of the chain restaurant riddled eastern part of town and the downtown chain restaurant want-to-be's in Altitude and Lovejoy's. Tourists: If you are traveling west, this will be the best burger, pizza, and beer until you hit Salt Lake. If you are traveling east, see last sentence but until you reach Lincoln or Denver.

I'm a bit shocked at some of the reviews. We were sat right as we walked in, by a friendly and attentive staff. The place was clean, decorated in a modern style, and not too loud. The beer list took up an entire page, and offered plenty of options. As far as I could tell all the beer taps were working, and there was a fully stocked bar. The menu was short and sweet, just the way I like it. I found that a lot of other places in this area seemed to overload menu's with generic fried junk. These burgers came without fries, another nice plus, and were seasoned and cooked to my taste. All three of us went for the coffee-brown sugar spice, which wasn't overwhelming but provided a mature taste. The burgers were ordered medium rare, and came just that way. If you REALLY want to get picky, like a jerk, then "the bacon was put on top in a cross, instead of side by side for maximum bacon coverage," but if that's you're major complaint, then you're kind of a horses ass. Here's what surprised me: the poutine was outstanding. The three of us went to school just outside of Montreal, in upstate NY, so poutine was our go-to drunken food. I wouldn't go so far as to say "experts," but we've had our fair share of brown gravy and cheese curd french fry dishes. Okay, so one of us said "might need a bit more gravy," while another said "no, the gravy is good, needs some more cheese," but I tell you: it was pretty damn close. That's compared to all the snarky restaurants serving this poor excuse for a poutine dish in Chicago, which is more of an embarrassment than a classic Québécois go to. Uhm bad...bad bad bad.... let's see. I think there was a hole in the door of the men's bathroom, that had resulted from a fist. And there was a slight mix up that resulted in the poutine coming out with the burgers, which actually worked for the better. Also, I couldn't drink too much, because I needed to drive afterwards.

Just stopped in for a few beers. The pizza and other food that were being brought out looked very good and it was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon. They have a large beer selection on tap and bottles available and it's all local micro brews from Wyoming and Colorado. All in all I think we would come back for some beer and maybe a pizza the next time. The only small thing was the bartender was new. He didn't really know what was on tap or what they had available in a bottle. It's no complaint, they should know exactly what they're serving!

Crowbar has serious potential. I know they're experiencing growing pains, and I'm willing to put that out of mind--this place is going to be one of Laramie's treasures by fall. I ordered the burger that was seasoned with coffee, and it was delicious. The beer selection was limited to bottles/cans because the taps were broken, but the problem is being taken care of and I cannot wait to return when the taps are working. The bottled beer menu is among the best in Laramie, and the tap menu will be the best in Laramie. It was a bit smoky. It was a little warm. I can honestly say that this place will be a regular stop for me during my night's out in Laramie.

The food is delicious. But the kinks of a new restaurant make it hard to spend money there. A bar needs it's taps to be working, and a restaurant must be capable of serving what its menu says they have. The service at the bar is impeccable. If you're at a table, you will wait. For your server, your drinks, your food (if it arrives), your server again, the check, etc. I can scarcely spend 50 minutes waiting at every meal. Get the kinks worked out, and you have 5 star potential. Every time I think about going, I wonder if the crowbar will be serving food or a majority of their beverages at all, or if i feel like waiting. Laramie needs great restaurants like this. You've got the food. Fix the rest.

Great chicken fingers and amazing burgers (from my 7 and 10 year olds). My burger was very good and service was excellent.

The late night pizza is key and something the town desperately needed. Try the French Onion White sauce. It is truly amazing, assuming you like onions. They work very hard and keep a mixed crowd to keep my interest. I was very impressed.

My husband and I went to the Crowbar for lunch today. We were seated right away, by a pleasant fellow who was standing at the hostess station. Neither of us ordered beer, so I can't comment on that. We both ordered burgers, and they were pretty good. Here's my issue: While we were waiting for the food to come out, our waitress went outside to have a smoke. Then one of the cooks went outside to have a smoke. What? Take that business to the alley. After lunch, I headed for the bathroom -- had to walk over flattened cardboard boxes to get there. So, overall, the food was decent, and came pretty quickly. But does the manager know that employees are smoking in the front of the restaurant? If so, why is the manager allowing this?

Crowbar is my favorite new restaurant in Laramie. It just started serving breakfast, and the eggs Benedict and biscuits & gravy were fantastic! Lunch/dinner is great too; I always get the Falcon burger and pad thai fries. Of course, the beer selection is always large and ever-changing. Lastly, you can order pizza by the slice pretty much anytime!

  • Daniel W.

I loved it. I had the Falcon Burger cooked Medium. It came out perfect. It was cooked correctly, the meat was seasoned, and the burgers flavour exploded. I ate it so fast that I was unable to share it with the rest of my party . Admittedly this is one of the best burgers in Laramie. If I had to change one thing - it would be the bun. The bottom part of the bun was too small, making it hard to not get my fingers messy. Literally, it was the only thing wrong. Service was great, and the décor is very hip. Keep it up, you have a new customer.

This place has been plagued with a myriad of problems since it opened in June 2012 . I've visited half a dozen times in hopes they'll work out the kinks, but I've lost all hope. They've yet to have ANY working beer taps, their service is incredibly slow and often rude, and their food (pizza and burgers) is less than fast food quality. In particular they have one bartender, a blonde who often wears jean skirts, who is abrasive and downright mean to customers. What's more is that she's incapable of making drinks: ask her for a margarita and she'll scowl and tell you order something else. Order a martini and she'll tell you she doesn't know how. Not exactly the recipe for an enjoyable experience.

It appears that the owners forgot to finish this place before they opened. I get the fact that you need the cash flow...but get your act together first. Crappy bottle beer, no real styles.

Update: came back for some beers and a pizza, they have a great selection on tap now, and Friday they have a pitcher and pizza special. Pizza was pretty good and service was much, much better than last time.

We stopped in on a Sunday and most of the business were closed. We had few choices but made a good one with this one. The beer selection was extensive and was able to try some I had never heard of. We had the fried avacado for apps and the meat pizza with a fried egg. Enjoyable. Kids had fun also.

My wife and I had spent a long day watching the autumn leaves. The Crowbar & Grill was the answer. The burgers were wonderful, the beer was unique and impressive, and the servers were helpful and cheery. What else can you ask for?

    (5)
  • Charlie P.

Not sure how helpful this is going to be, but here goes. I didn't even get a chance to try their food. They have peanut butter or peanuts all over the menu items, and for those of us with allergies, it can prove hazardous. I was very excited to try it out but was greeted by a rude hostess who had to finish wiping down a pile of menus before she seated us at a visibly empty table and then had to ask the "What about cross-contamination" question to a waiter who didn't know the answer and didn't offer to check. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere because I simply didn't feel safe (and didn't want to go to the hospital) eating at this restaurant.

What a wonderful find! My wife and I ate there two nights in a row. A fantastic pizza the first night, and two awesome burgers ( a falcon and a sparrow ) the second. The help was friendly and attentive. Great food at great prices and a local flavor. We absolutely loved this place.
