If you are ever in Laramie WY stop by the Altitude for lunch. Great food and service. We really enjoyed our lunch.i had the Cuban sandwich. Highly recommend it. Jeff

I don't think this place was worth the money. The steak I ordered was terribly butchered and overcooked as well as charred to smitherines. My husband's food was undercooked. I'm a chef. I've done over 10 years on a line- I know they pressed my steak. The potatoes were held a little too long as they were soft and barely warm. Redeeming qualities? They had good pretzels but their cheese sauce was really runny. My guess is the sauce was breaking and they added cream or milk to save it. What I found hilarious is that the bacon and cheese soup is the cheese sauce with bacon added. Haha! It was just bad. Just bad. You know I'm not one to ask for free food but after all the problems I mean they could've picked up our sons kids meal or our appetizer. Which was cooked perfectly, go figure. The tables around us all had problems, with drinks, pizza and steak temperature. I'm just saying. Bad night? Bad cooks? I dunno..it was just not worth the 75 dollars.

Even better than before! Came here with my girlfriend, and had a great time. Jeremy was our server and gave great service. We had a flight of 6 of their beers which was awesome. For $10, I'd do it every single time. She had a chicken-cobb salad and enjoyed it. I did the Monterey burger with a black bean patty. It worked really well. If you are ever in Laramie, you have to stop here.

Fantastic brew pub with great food and very reasonable prices. Prime Rib good. Service was excellent. Try a beer flyte for $10 and Happy Hour 4-6.

Ok food, most of it over priced, they serve warm beer which is weird. Menu talks a big game but doesn't deliver.

Great dinner- we were traveling through on the highway and decided to try it based on reviews. We weren't disappointed- my husband had a steak that he said was delicious and I loved my shrimp tacos. Local beers were also excellent. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. We would definitely stop back again if we are in the area.

This place is off the hook. The food is on point, service is great and the atmosphere is welcoming. Great choices of beers to choose from on tap. Didn't do any bottled beer since I'm at the brewery. This will be my come to place in Laramie without a doubt.

Wow - one of the WORST customer service experiences ever:( It's hard to capture the level of disorganization, disregard and chaos in a written review but here goes... My cousin just graduated from the local university with honors. She made a reservation for 14. She confirmed this THREE TIMES including once in person at the restaurant, as family was coming in from around the country. We arrived on time and they HAD LOST THE RESERVATION. From there, things got worse... Service took forever. Inexplicably, our server (who seemed to be new) was also assigned several other tables. It was impossible to place orders. Things were delivered slowly (everything), incorrectly (bottles of wine), or not at all (silverware and napkins for several of our party). We had to stack our used plates and ask them to remove them. When I tried to include my dirty salad fork on the stack, the waitress said "I'm going to have you save that fork for your entree." We noticed the manager (a slightly heavyset gentleman) around the restaurant but he didn't even approach our table until dessert. (The server was obviously overwhelmed the entire time.) The beers were ok, but not impressive. My uncle ordered a specialty chili beer. After a few sips, he suspected it was something else. After 10 minutes, we were able to flag down the server. Explanation: THEY WERE OUT OF THE SPECIALTY BEER SO THEY SIMPLY SERVED A DIFFERENT ONE. Huh???? To be honest, I wasn't expecting amazing service in Laramie, but this was a shocker. Thank goodness we found Coal Creek Tap the next day, just around the corner. (see my other review.)

This is not about the beer, that is good and the only reason to visit. Most of the servers suck!! There were two bartenders who did not notice us at the bar, then a third gal come and helped us. Took about ten minutes to be acknowledged. The Hummus plait appetizer was disappointing. Not sure if some of the crackers were stale, the portions for two was very disappointing. Four carrots, four celery pieces three bread piece and so on. Not an appetizer for more then two, for sure... The service once we got it was fine, and it wasn't super crowded!!

Best restaurant we've been to in 9 states on our trip across the northwest. My wife wanted slightly smaller prime rib than was offered. They not only gave her the smaller cut, but charged less. The food is upscale without being overpriced. Service was prompt and friendly. We never had to look for our server, she was always there when we needed her. ' The prices are reasonable for the quality of food.

First trip up to Laramie to visit brother and he couldn't stop raving about this place. Third time in a week going. Enjoyed the unique log bar stools. Of course obsessed with their ranch pretzels. Great beer selection as the tumble wheat was very delicious and not too hoppy. Great service. Had the wontons to start with a sweet molasses sauce. Caesar salad was unique with a sweeter taste in the dressing. The most amazing homemade croutons come with. Main course was a pretzel bun bbq burger. Everything smelled amazing and can't wait to go back and try more beer and food.

  • Christin Y.

Food- 2 stars. Service- 4 stars. The food was definitely lacking. The wonton appetizer was just...weird. I couldn't get past the strange taste. Maybe it was the sauce, maybe the filling? But it was not good. At all. Then on to the meal...I had the santa fe salad with shrimp. The shrimp were the tiny salad shrimp that appeared to have just come out of the freezer and thrown on to the salad. No seasoning at all. Just tiny little just-thawed-out salad shrimp. The portion size was also disappointing considering the price and that it was a "dinner salad." I tried one of my husband's french fries, and they were so chewy, there's no way I would have eaten them. The only upside was the friendly service. Note I didn't say speedy. Our food took forever to come out. Didn't catch her name, but our waitress was very friendly, helpful and funny.

  • Merry M.

The food is excellent, top notch and fresh. The beer is great. There is a nice selection and they offer a taste. My only knock is their cocktails. They were not on par with the food or beer. Finally, the service was fabulous. We ate there two evenings with different staff. Both we're accommodating, attentive and friendly.

I enjoyed the Monterey burger and waffle fries . The beef was seasoned well and juicy loved every bite!

  • Dana A.

Food was really good, husband, son and I had 3 very clean plates. I had the Cuban with beer cheese soup, husband had the sausage combo. It looked a little small but he said it was plenty and we should all have more reasonable portions, right? Son had chicken fried steak and fries. Good service, oh and the beer was pretty good, I liked the stout, husband said the wheat was really good. That soup was really excellent, definitely get that.

Great place for dinner. The steak was awesome! Fixed medium, very flavorful and juicy. One of us had fish, the others chicken all great. Each had a craft beer, very good. Our waiter was very attentive. Great place after 13 days on the motorcycle.

Great food, great staff, great experience. First time ever in Laramie. Altitude was recommended by a friend, and more than lived up to expectations. I expected the typical western steakhouse, but ended up with Tuna Ceviche and Chicken Saltimbocca.

Capitalism thrives on competition, but small towns often lack enough to drive businesses to excel. Such is the case for Laramie and Altitude Chophouse and Brewery. I have had five or six meals here over the last year, only one of which made me feel like I was enjoying a quality dish. The others just filled my stomach and stopped my hunger. In general the dishes are your typical bland American dishes. Unfortunately for some of us this is not enough. Luckily for Altitude much of their clientele is more than willing to spend their hard-earned dollars on average. I am not!

  • Robert M.

We had a decent meal here, but I think we walked away disappointed. Coming from Portland, I have an idea of what a brewery restaurant should be, and was a little let down. The beer was good, but not great. They were out of their IPA the night we came (since IPA is the most popular style of craft beer, running out at the brewery is not a good idea). Since we were in Wyoming, I expected big portions (cowboy style, right?) and excellent beef. The bacon-wrapped filet was a pretty tiny steak, and wasn't really wrapped in bacon. The quality of the meat, and the food in general, was just average. I had a Caesar salad, which basically was just cut up romaine with a bottle-brand Caesar dumped on top (shouldn't a restaurant make their own dressings?). The portions were so small, we walked away hungry. The service was decent but not real friendly and nobody smiled; I expected some small-town hospitality. I might go back for a beer and appetizer if I'm in Laramie again, but left looking forward to returning to quality beer and cuisine back home.

  • Kacie C.

Great food, absolutely amazing food, and the beer was great. Good atmosphere. However this place has no AC, which does not lead to a great dining experience. When we asked to see the manager about the temperature issue he was quite condescending saying, "We're in Wyoming, it snowed last week." The wine pours were short and all the house wines are served in stemless glasses and he was also a complete jerk about that. Altitude should definitely be called Attitude.

    (3)
  • Dan M.

Laramie Wyoming. In a town full of cowboys you should be able to get a great steak. Altitude does not disappoint and goes a step further by preparing your steak in interesting ways. I had a coffee encrusted tenderloin that rivaled any steak in a local NY restaurant. It came wit garlic potatoes, vegetable, and side salad. The price? $21.00. When I remarked to my friend who lives in Laramie how inexpensive the price is she laughed and told me this was one of the more expensive restaurants in town. Added bonus they have a brewery on premises with 8 different beers on tap.

    (4)
  • Shannon G.

The steak Cobb salad was amazing. The IPA was excellent if you like IPA's. Our server was very attentive. Would definitely go there again if ever passing through Wyoming again.

In town from Ca and wanted a nice steak and local beer. We found Altitude and darn glad we did. Walked in and immediately were greeted by a cheerful polite young man that seated us immediately. Our server Tess promptly took our drink order and let us peruse the menu. When Tess returned we asked for and took advantage of her suggestions. Amazing meal. Bacon wrapped tenderloin, mashed potatoes, veggies, and creme bruelee for desert. Tess stopped by often, friendly, attentive but never intrusive. Removed dirty plates promptly and made sure we were well taken care of. After our meal we took a quick walk around the restaurant. When Tess saw us she stopped and gave us a quick informative description and history. Amazing customer service. If you're ever in the area stop in relax have a meal and local brew. You'll love it.

We had dinner here during the NCAA tournament. Not as busy as we anticipated. Great selection of beers, and although we did not go with a steak, the chicken dish we had was fabulous!!! Try it out when you're in town!!!

Deserts soup and salads were awesome. Steaks were good especially for the price! Wine was cheap by the glass and I Would come back!

Altitude is a micro-brew pub in the center of Laramie, Wyoming. It has fascinating seasonal beers and some great standard-bearer beers. Competition among microbreweries in Laramie is heating up, and Altitude is staying ahead of its competition with innovative beer selections, impeccable customer service, and tremendous food options. I cannot say anything negative about Altitude at all. I would recommend that you arrive early for dinner, especially on a Friday night. Altitude becomes quite busy shortly before 600pm, and it remains so until about 900pm. So, either go early, get a table for dinner, and stay for drinks later or get there around 600pm and expect to wait for a table. Despite the wait, I would go back to Altitude again and again because of the customer service I receive there. The bartenders are very good and cognizant of your needs. They will serve you, even if you're not sitting directly in front of them. That's absolutely awesome! Also, if you go in alone, as I tend to do, they'll hang out and talk with you! Love this place! Go when you're visiting Laramie!

I have been here three times, all of which I have gotten sick. The last time I went it was really slow and we still had really bad service. After asking 4 times I had to go to the bar to get my own water and out server was really rude. The people sitting next to us had hair in their food and the manager wasn't very helpful about it nor particularly apologetic, only offering to make them another dish.

  • Mark H.

Ribeye is my favorite here, but last time I ordered it the steak came without the bone and it was missing the flavorful rub. I'll have to pester the server next time to inquire if it can prepared this way. Other two times I've had ribeye here it's been fantastic. The specials are usually pretty good - had a great pork dish last month that was a special. How many restaurants can do pork well? Not many. Good appetizers and beer/cocktails. Always have great service here.

An amazing find in the town of Laramie, Wy! If you're traveling through on Interstate 80 you should definitely add this restaurant on your list of pit stops! I'm always a fan of T-Bone steaks and boy they did not disappoint! Cooked to a requested medium rare it had no choice but to melt in my mouth. Complimented by a side of chopped potatoes with a glass of their 2014 Gold Medal ALTitude Altbrier from this year's World Beer Cup. The Amazing atmosphere, service staff, food and beer will have me stopping in Everytime I'm in Laramie

Copy cat spin on Rock Bottom and every other Colorado brewery the owners have ever visited. The big brag about locally sourced falls to some chicken from Colorado --again locally sourced. The decor has not changed since this restaurant opened way back when. The lame attempt at quieting the noise with hanging fabric appears to do nothing. The food may or may not be a step up from their other place--Lovejoy's but do not hold your breath it is a very small step. Just another place in Laramie trying to imitate some place in Laramie.

Oh, Altitude, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Steak specials, fried ravioli, house brews, Mother's Day Brunch, and more.... When I interviewed with UW, the search committee brought me to Altitude for dinner on my last evening. I knew then that it would be one of my favs, from a date night with the husband, to birthday dinners, to wandering in with friends. Keep up with the changing specials and new brews on Facebook. But be careful! You might see something that draws you in when you hand't planned to go out at all. I've yet to be disappointed by a meal at Altitude (or a beer). Whether it's dinner for two or an impromptu gathering of 10, we've never had a problem with meals or waitstaff. My favorite dish is the fried ravioli, which also travels well for lunch the next day. Just recently, I took some friends visiting from Texas in for Mother's Day Brunch, and everyone was impressed with the variety on the buffet and absolute deliciousness of the food. They loved it so much, that we went back for their last dinner while in town. I was in sheer heaven with the bacon mushroom compound butter on my steak and still dream of that wonderful slab of meat melting in my mouth. My next task is to look into the Mug Club...

This place is great. In town for a night and this place was exactly what i was looking for. ALTitude ALTbier is a must have! Steak sandwich was as good or better than any Ive had. If im ever back in Laramie, im coming back.

Food was good. Wait staff very helpful with food alergies. Had a six glass taster flight. If you like hoppy IPAD this is the place.

  • Jenna B.

I'm giving this one three stars in large part because of the service. I think the food would have been far better if it had made it to the table while it was still hot - I think this was more the fault of the server than the kitchen. The food was good, the restaurant was clean and the noise level was acceptable, but I don't know that I would make it a point to eat here again.

    (3)
  • Andrea A.

I have been to Altitude many times & have never been impressed. I find their beer to be flat & mediocre at best. The food is also just not what you think it should be. Just, completely unimpressive. The atmosphere is the best part of this establishment.

My girlfriend and I checked out Altitude's happy hour on our way from a lovely day of skiing at Snowy Range. This was the perfect place for an après ski beer and snack. I am not such a connoisseur in the beer department but my partner, who is, had high praises for their well executed beer, true to style. She had the Alt style beer which was on par with the beer she used to drink during her time in Germany, which was quite a treat. I had the temptress, a Belgian wheat, which I found to be a remarkably refreshing and crisp. Just what I needed for the afternoon. All in all, they had an awesome selection of beer, over 12 if I can recall correctly, that I will surely need to try at my next visit. The atmosphere and the service was also excellent. In summary, this is an outstanding micro brewery that I would recommend to anyone seeking some unique flavors!

A welcoming watering hole near the Interstate 80 trail. Bar service was friendly and the WY tourism recommendations were spot on and much appreciated. Excellent dark brews and tasty bar food.

Best in town ! They have domestic beers and offer buffalo burgers.

  • Samantha C.

The atmosphere here is awesome. I love the long high table by the bar that kind of brings strangers together. The service was always perfect, the waitresses are super nice and relaxed. Food was hit or miss. Once I ordered the shrimp tacos and a side of the tomato soup. I loved the soup, and the tacos were okay, nothing amazing. The second time I wanted something a bit fancier, and chose the chicken saltimbocca. It was a dish with capers and this wonderful sounding lemon white wine sauce, spinach and polenta. Sadly what came out was a sad mess. Everything was heaped into a deep set plate, and the sauce was making everything soggy. The spinach had an odd taste, the chicken was eh, and I barely tasted any lemon even after squeezing the fresh piece they garnished the plate with. It was just so bland. For $15 I expected way more. I did like the growlers they sell full of the beer of your choice. The price was super reasonable considering you get a huge glass pitcher with their logo on the side to keep and everything.

  • Tetra H.

Altitude had a great selection of beers that they brew themselves! I really enjoyed their "Sarah's apartment" blonde ale. :) I would love to go back and try their steaks & more beers!

    (4)
  • S B.

Altitude is an ok place to eat, the food is nothing amazing. I was there at lunch and for some reason the place inside was really dark. The waitress was ok when she actually came to the table, she was either missing in action or talking to the group of men near by most of the time. I would say unless you really want to go try somewhere else.

    (3)
  • Andrew M.

Staff was great with my speciality needs. They made my gluten free, dairy free meal delicious! The atmosphere was upscale without being stuffy and judgmental. My wife recommends the chili beer. I would bring my parents here if they were in town, this is worth the drive from Cheyenne.

    (5)
  • Scott B.

Baked salmon over basil pasta and mushrooms was cooked perfectly. Caesar salad was definitely homemade and a welcome surprise. IPA was so so. They offered to replace with a wheat that was pretty good. This will become a regular dinner stop for me in Laramie.

  • Lorenzo S.

Great service and awesome locally-crafted beers makes this a place to seek in Laramie. I paired the sirloin with the Altitude Alt - Gold medal winner at 2014 World Beer Cup for German brown ale...it's outstanding with deep color, medium hops, and nutty caramel flavor. Steak was good too but only 8 oz. Salad before dinner was good starter but no bread was served with dinner. Overall atmosphere, waitstaff attentiveness, and portion size earns this eatery a solid four stars.

    (4)
  • Dan H.

Food was excellent. Service was great. Try the pepper jack cheese sticks. We had four different burgers and they were all great. I enjoyed the six beer flight as well.

Laramie is not known for its fine cuisine. Altitude managed to exceed my expectation this time. We had a group of 11, almost half of whom were teenagers, and all of us arrived at different times. The staff deserves 5+ stars, as they were very accommodating and friendly. I had the open-faced prime rib sandwich special, which was pretty good. The fries were pre-made/frozen, but it's Laramie, I'm not expecting much. I was really enamored with the beers. Well-crafted, great variety. My husband had the pizza special, and the crust was extraordinary. It was also topped generously. We had to have dessert, most of the party had the cheesecake, which they nearly licked off the plates. My dad and i shared the sugar cookie ice cream sandwich, and while the cookie was pretty hard, it had a great flavor all around. The rest of the party, who are not dining-divas and as picky as I am, loved every moment, that along with the beer and service, merits 4 stars.

Had their Spicy Seared Tuna. Delicious! Our server was charming and engaged us in some fun conversation.

  • Stacy P.

Five stars for the beer (great selection, growlers, and impressive seasonal brews), but only three stars for the food - it's very average. My coworker and I were in three out of the five days we were in Laramie. We both loved our food the first night (I got the herb roasted chicken (pictured), and he got the prime rib). The next day at lunch, he loved his special-of-the-day burger, I left quite a bit of mine (don't remember what it was called... had avocado and pico) on the plate. On our last night there, he loved his baked mac and cheese - my steak special (also pictured) was WAY overcooked (ordered medium rare, came out tough, close to well done. Ick. The service was great the first couple days we were there, but only average on the last night (different guy). Anyway, I'd definitely go back if I end up back in Laramie - I just wouldn't pay $20 for the steak special.

    (4)
  • Tom D.

My impression of this place is that it's a great brew pub as the craft beers were very well done and a good selection. These guys can brew! When it comes to their food I'd only rate it as fair - although with just one meal I can't say I've tried the full menu. I ordered their pan fried cod perched on a bed of angle hair pasta. It was good, but the pasta was sticky, and the flavor lacked intensity and depth - kind of bland. My Caesar salad was not at all special with Parmesan out of a bag (I'd guess) and dressing that tasted no better than a bottle of Kraft. The croutons were not crisp, but rubbery. I asked for anchovies and was told they don't have them. That confirmed to me that they don't make their own Caesar dressing. So in summary, I'd return for a beer but not for dinner.

Came to Laramie for a football game and a family gathering. Being a frequent brewery patron, we naturally chose those place to eat dinner. The beer was good, and that was about it. At first they gave us "large gathering" menus (which have about half the items) and when we asked for regular dinner menus, they brought our entire table one to share. We asked for a few more and the waitress said, "We are using the others to seat customers." Hello? We are customers. We ordered, waited roughly 50 minutes for our food and when it arrived it was cold. When I say cold, I mean COLD. My wife's burger had melted cheese that was no longer melted, but hardened and took the shape of the burger. Her sweet potato fries were cold, and soggy. Sweet potato fries are hard to screw up. The Rib Eye was cold, along with the potatoes it was served with. I have nothing more to say about it other than the fact I only took a few bites. We paid our ticket and went to Safeway to get some food that would satisfy our family after a 3 hour and $200 mistake. Do not eat here. They get two stars for beer and environment. Nothing else.

    (2)
  • Pete S.

Beer is 5 stars...food is 3.5. Service is A+. I had a ribeye steak that was good. Pale ale 2 is great but a chili beer called Fahrenheit is amazing. Heat in a cold beer...so delicious. If your in Laramie you should hit this place...

    (4)
  • ARIeL P.

Came here at the last night I was in town after being here for a week. The ambiance was cool. Only reason why they are getting 3 stars is because they had Hangar One Mandarin which is my favorite Vodka made here locally. Also the servers were cool Jessy and Jasara? forgot their names..... I came here with co-workers and they did not like the place. All of our Four orders took awhile. And when they arrived, they were cold!!! I ordered a rib eye with mash potato since they ran out of the prime rib. A steak being cold, is NOT GOOD!

DEAR ALTITUDE OWNER: I am pleading with you, please fire your present "chef" and bring back whoever was in charge over a year ago. The food back them was amazing and now it's terrible, straight out of the Sysco catalog. I've given you three chances in the last year and each time gets worse than the last. You get one star because the beer is so great, in fact, it's probably the only thing keeping you in business. But great beer is not enough, bring back the upscale food that everyone loved, heck, I'd even pay more for it. If you care about your restaurant and want to stay in business for the long-haul, you've got to step up your dining game!

Fast service... Amazing steak and shrimp! The beer cheese soup was so yummy too! Great way to have a nice meal in Laramie where there aren't many choices for a good steak and seafood.

After a long day of skiing at Snowy Range, I made it back to Laramie for an overnight stay and needed suggestions for dinner last night. So on a strong suggestion it was decided to head over to Altitude Chophouse and Brewery. Excellent suggestion! They brew 13 beers here to start, a great list of wines and a full bar. The food is excellent. It's as close to fine dining in as you will find in Laramie, but don't the term fine dining scare you, they have something for everyone, from burgers and fish and chips, pizza, steaks, sirloins, pastas and seafood. No need to worry about any certain dress code here, remember this is Laramie not New York City. Casual is fine. Now here's my suggestion, try the Chicken Saltimbocca, a pan seared chicken breast topped with prosciutto, capers, sage and a lemon white wine sauce, trust me it is worth every bite! It's served with sauteed spinach and a couple of asiago polenta cakes. Throw in a Tumblewheat beer and the combination is nothing short of perfection. The wait staff were excellent. They were attentive and not overbearing and very engaging. An establishment doesn't last as long as this one has without consistently doing something right. Great service, excellent food and an enormous commitment to the local community. I dont get up to Wyoming often, but whenever I'm in Laramie, you can bet I'm coming here every time. Word of advice get there early, as they fill up fast on Saturday nights. There is a gluten free menu too.

One of the better sit down eating places in town for sure. I ordered the Solar Wit beer which was good along with a noodle bowl with chicken. I was fairly full but ordered a small flourless chocolate mini cake which also was a score. This place brings in a sports crowd so if there is a game going on somewhere expect lots of whooping and hollering at the TV. Fairly fast service and friendly.

This is our favorite place in Laramie - great way service, great beer and good food. That is all I have to say. I hate it that yelp keeps telling me to make my reviews longer!

The most delicious beer in town and the food is just awesome. The oriental noodle bowl, Chicken Alfredo Stromboli and Calamari is my pick. It is one of the best places in town where you can grab a beer or have a formal dinner or even mix them both.

I've been here a few times now, whenever I'm in Laramie. Each time, steaks cooked and seasoned perfectly. Great microbrews! Excellent, friendly service! Best place in town, just wish they stayed open past 10pm for us late-nighters.

The food wasn't too bad, but I was really disappointed with the service. My group had to wait 20 minutes past out reservation time. The manager (I'm assuming) was reluctant to give us their normal menus (only the "dinner" menu with the most pricy items). After I asked a second time, she gave our group of 22 ONE menu. Our servers were hardly polite, but the management needed an attitude adjustment. We didn't feel welcomed and will not be visiting this restaurant next time we're in town.

One of the best steaks I've ever had! The cut of meat was so tender it was like butter. Very flavorful. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. 5 stars for the steak, 4 stars based on the service, price and some of the other menu items being good, but not great.

what a terrific find while being stuck in a blizzard! wonderful food, great beer and drinks, and the staff is extremely friendly and engaging.....we were stranded for two nights and came back after the first because the experience was so great......being from the bay area in cali, we can be picky, and i have to say that if this place was in the bay area you would never find and empty seat......awesome.....altitude you rock!

While the atmosphere on the "billiard a" side left something to be desired, the food was quite enjoyable. Service was both attentive and friendly. I had a ribeye, that was rubbed with coffee and spices, and the better half had a roasted half chicken. The captain's wine list had a couple of decent offerings and the choco almond tort with vanilla ice cream was nice. Bottom line, other than a confused decor, it was a delightful meal in Laramie.

Altitude is a restaurant with consistently decent food, but to date nothing has come across as outstanding. Having lived in Laramie my whole life, I have eaten here at least twenty or thirty times. And what I get, time and again, is acceptable food and acceptable service. Nothing out of the ordinary, but nothing to scoff at either. This would top my list for feeding a large group in Laramie, since it has ample space and a varied menu. On a sidenote, the fish and chips are easily the best available in Laramie.

Excellent selection of in-house brewed beers. Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly. Cool and friendly staff. Decor was decent. I definitely recommend.

As a homebrewer and a foodie, I almost always come to Altitude when I visit Laramie from Ft. Collins, CO. I am always eager to find out what's new on tap and from their menu. As an UW alumni, I've been to this establishment countless times and it truly is one of Laramie's best restaurants. They certainly do very well with their food and their beer clearly shows the brewer's passion and creativity. While I would personally like to see some more adventurous beer styles and variations of beers within the traditional American ale lineup, they can hold their own in terms of quality for what they do brew. From my experience, however, Wyoming in general is not a place where a large demographic of adventurous palates exist. So, to their credit, they brew what sells the most which would most likely be the basic styles of Pale Ale, Wheat, Brown Ale, Amber Ale, and a Stout. IMHO, if you brew it - people will drink it - so long it is thoughtfully crafted and done with the skill of a master chef. With their pilot system they use, they should be able to appease beer geeks like me anytime I go. They get busy and sometimes it's a wait for a table, but there are a lot of tables. This only goes to show how popular they are (or how few good selections there are in Laramie). I usually get greeted and served by someone with a pleasant attitude and that genuinely appears to have an interest in my customer experience. The food comes out in good time and is usually up to foodie standards. My only criticism is that a lot of the food is overpriced, which is the only reason why they don't get the 5th star in this review. I would always recommend this place to anyone and I hope for many more successful years for their business. Cheers!

Pretty darn good - that's what we thing. We dropped in without a reservation after getting suggestion from a business acquaintance on this place on our way through to Illinois from Salt Lake City. It was a good choice for dinner. I ordered their sirloin special, which was marinaded in beer and served with a nice side of potatoes and vegetables. My daughter went for their Margarita pizza, which came out hot, fresh, and in a big enough size that she couldn't finish it. The steak was ordered medium rare, and came out that way. The food was seasoned and good. We enjoyed our trip - hopefully, we can stop by again on our next jaunt through the area - or you can. As far as beer, as you can tell by the title, they have a brewery, and they had the usual craft brewery fare. I ordered a glass of wine, and it worked out just fine.

For what it's worth, probably one of the best restaurants in Laramie. Always crowded as a result and you're going to wait to get in there unless you have a reservation or get lucky. I don't drink beer, so I'd be hard pressed to comment on it, but I've never heard a complaint from anyone I've ever been there with. All in all, a good place to take visitors to town if you're not able to get away and take them to Cheyenne or Ft. Collins. The menu is a bit limited and while it's not bad food, it's overpriced for what it is. But it works for what it is.

I recently had their special the Jamaican Rub Steak. It was really a great steak. One of the best steaks I've had in quite a while. It was fairly spicy, but had an excellent taste.

I am disappointed. I have been in Laramie for years. I've been to Altitude several times, but I had not been in over a year. When I use to go, it was amazing every time. Man, times have changed. First, let me place a disclaimer. My friends and I came to Altitudes after attempting to brave the pass between Laramie and Cheyenne so we could go to the Texas Road House. We had turned back half way due to weather conditions. This means we were tired and not in the best of moods. That being said, matters were not improved upon at Altitudes. It is said - Its now how you start, its how you finish. Please remember this. Service was mediocre at best. Drink refills were slow, and since we arrived an hour before closing, things were slow. This means that the wait staff were busy with side work, rather than customers. The worst mistake was bringing out my beer when I asked for it to come out with the meal. It came out fifteen minutes before the burger had arrived. This means it was piss warm before I got to eat. Food was a joke at those prices. My burger was decent, though not mind blowing. The combination of pico on top of the cheese made it a mess to eat. My girlfriend ordered a crab cake and it was utterly bland and clearly frozen. The worse was the desert. It was pre-made cookies with cheap ice cream in between. For a restaurant that attempts to be one of the fine dinning experiences, you must think your customers to be idiots not to recognize the difference between made fresh and in house vs pre-made and frozen. It is a complete and utter insult. The only reason I did not get up and demand something frest, did not get into someone's face and ask for a refund was because I was on a date. I expect better next time, and if I do not get it, then I will send it back over and over and over until someone gets a clue.

Came here on a Friday night after a motel's recommendation. Great burgers. Decent beer, but I thought a brewery would know that a good beer should be cold not lukewarm. The summer blond had pleasant citrus flavor. On a hot August night, make sure the beer is 35 degree or less! The chocolate cake was okay but not marvelous. Nice atmosphere, noisy, but that can be good.

I was in the mood for a steak tonight and the hotel desk clerk suggested Altitude. I was definitely not disappointed. I ordered the Ribeye and it was among the best I've ever had. It was rubbed with roasted paprika and coffee and it was really delicious. The service was very good too.

I guess. I mean, it's Laramie, so the standards are not super duper high. The beers are great, local micro brews. The food, however is Sysco quality. It used to be better quality, but they changed the menu and the same quality did not transfer. I personnally dread when people invite me here. It's supposed to be a local favorite, but I think it needs a lot of improvement in the kitchen department.

Went for lunch on my birthday. Took 30-45 minutes to get drinks. Food was disgusting, I ordered the steak and it tasted like charcoal, my husband ordered the chicken-fried steak that tasted like someone had dipped it in salt but didn't put any other spices on it. Left & went to Quiznos. Will never, EVER go back. Horrible, horrible, horrible. So sad because I was so excited to try it.

Oh my, give the Mexican Chili Ale a try. I had the spinach ravioli and my dinner companions had the salmon and the shrimp tacos, we were all really pleased with our food. Our waiter was awesome, attentive, and gave great suggestions of food and beverages.

Chili beer, y'all! Ok, the chili beer wasn't even that good, but it's freakin' chili beer! I had to try it. I would have liked it to be a little bit spicier, but hey, maybe they can't handle the heat up in Wyo. All the food was very delicious, and I do like a place that brews their own beer. They have lots of fish options, which surprised me as the state is pretty damn landlocked, but I'm not complaining. Though the digs don't look like much from the outside, the food and beer selection was very impressive.

We had these folks serve as caterers at my daughter's wedding. They did a great job! Even helped me pass out champagne and sparkling cider that WE had provided for the toast. Had a LOT of compliments on the meal provided-green salad, pulled pork sandwiches, beef brisket, cowboy beans and a fruit bowl. There was nothing whatsoever for me to worry about with them as caterers! They cleaned up, left some leftovers in the fridge with a note on what we needed to return the following day (coffee and lemonade containers). It was about $18/person including gratuity and travel-30 miles one way to our venue-so not too bad. All in all great service and great food!

We have been here a couple of times and the food is usually pretty good. Their micro-brew is tasty, and my kids enjoy the house-made root beer. My filet was cooked to perfection, but my daughter's burger was almost raw. Order the deep-fried cheese sticks - I could eat them everyday!

We ate here on a Saturday night and had to wait about 30-40 min for a table. The beer selection was good and the wine was reasonably priced by the glass. The food was also good. We split an order of the peperjack cheese sticks for our appetizer. It was a generous portion for such a rich dish and we had a hard time finishing it, but they were freshly cooked and very tasty (especially with the accompanying ranch dipping sauce). Our service was slow, but the place was packed.

    $40 for a half keg (5 gallons) of micro brew! $95 for 16 gallons ... Where's the party?? 1/2 gallon growler refill = $10

  • Jennifer T.

Very average food. Service was ok. The beer was the best part of the meal. Don't think we will return the next time we are at Wyo. We had the steak sandwich, fish & chips and a salad. Maybe we just should have stuck with burgers.

I was here with some friends. It took about 30 mins to be seated, but that's fine--it's Saturday night. The appetizer, spinach artichoke dip, was perfectly creamy, warm, crunchy and sharable. We shared a pizza. Unfortunately, it was just bland. not a whole lot of dimension to the flavor. There were tomato slices on the pizza that were slimy and didn't add any desirable flavor to the pie. Desert was a disaster. We ordered fried cheesecake. Cheesecake should never be served warm. It brings out a mealy texture. It was wrapped in a crust that was hard like a fortune cookie--I couldn't cut it with my fork. I ended up squirting the cheesecake out of this fortune cookie tube like toothpaste. So i have slimy, mealy cheesecake filling, a crunchy wafer a delicious scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, all drizzled with caramel. Very disjointed. Very bizzare. I do not recommend it. This restaurant, on the other hand, is the go to place for hand-crafted beers of all kinds! Altitude brews many delicious beers and they're quite a treat.

I had a great first experience at Altitude. Restaurant was very busy, visited on a Friday evening during the Farmer's Market, but we had a reservation, so no wait. The atmosphere was good- there were lots of people at the bar waiting for a table, so the dining room was just a little noisy. I can't speak much for the quality of beer- I had a pint of the Tumblewheat and thought it was pretty good. I will definitely be returning for some $10 growler fills. Our food was really great too- ordered specials hangar steak and prime rib and ribeye. The ribeye was exceptional- seasoned wonderfully. Hangar steak was judged a little spicy and the prime rib seemed to be enjoyed. Generous portion sizes, though we all managed to finish our plates! Service was good, though it was apparent that the server did not want us to linger after we finished, I guess understandably as there were still people waiting for tables when we left.

The beer quality is inconsistent and this applies to the same type of beer throughout the year. I expect better seeing how it is located in a region known for awesome breweries. I know it is difficult to produce the same taste throughout the year, but please try and brew good beer. The food is good for being located in a food desert, which doesn't say much. I recommend Crow Bar.

The cuisine featured at Altitude Chophouse is decent though not necessarily amazing, (as I had a dish of Fetuccini Alfredo it was ok). The beer however is good as I drank a Chili Beer that Altitude brews. It was good. The interior of Altitude's is pleasing. Essentially Altitude is decent. Good for beer and decent for food.

Had an ok experience. Our server got busy before we got our food so things went downhill. We ordered our steaks medium rare and they came out tough and closer to well done. I tried to order another drink but was unable to get our servers attention. Our salads were good and she was nice to offer us seperate checks for our table. Overall not impressed

I can barely remember what I ate in here, because it was so hot and stuffy, there was no air conditioning and all of the loud fans blowing hot air all over the place were making me all impatient and grouchy. The threat of pork poisoning lurked a bit in the undercooked swine around a bacon wrapped scallop appetizer They had generous sample sizes of their beers for only $1.25, but honestly their beer, like all other beers, tasted a little bit like pee pee to me, but I keep trying to develop a taste for that stuff - I think people who like beer would like them a lot - the best one was yellowy and served with a lemon. A super dark and frothy topped one tasted like chocolate's evil twin. The service was slow, casual and friendly enough. So, maybe in the heat country fried steak would seem like a bad choice, but it was nighttime already, I hadn't eaten aaaaaalllll day and I had a another chance to mark an addition to my Great Plains Country Fried Steak Challenge. Theirs was a fancified presentation, with the steak kind of asymmetrically perched upon a mound of mashed potatoes. It was good - very crunchy coating, almost like if it had been hard baked with corn flakes in it. The potatoes were more of the thicker, smashed type instead of the whipped, fluffy kind, but they were okay. I did especially love the lay out of their kid's menu. Lots and lots of choices arranged where you pick an entree, then pick a side and a drink, etc, all for about $3. The choices accommodated crunchy parents with juice, milk and veggies and Springer parents with fries and soda, and since sometimes I'm one and sometimes I'm a bit more of the other, I really appreciated having the (rare) options. If they could cook the bacon and turn on the air I'd give them another try, especially since they were the only thing open.

My salad with balsamic dressing was great, but everything else fell a bit short. Beer was flat, chicken was okay, my mixed veggies were under cooked and without flavor.

Very good. Had the Chicken Fried Steak in 2003, and returned the other day (2012). They have some old favorites well-prepared as well as some unusual entries on the menu. Beer is good, imaginative. Would probably give this place 4.5 stars if I could, especially since I find lots of Yelpers give too many stars!

Don't know what everyone was talking about we walked in no reservation were cheerfully greeted on a Friday eve and server Ali was right there to take our drink order. 7200 stout and Expedition porter both were fantastic we know good as we have been stopping in micro brews cross country so we have had few too many!! the salad dressings all house made and delicious. All meat fresh cut aside from tuna which is flash frozen. We are so pleased with this stop. We ordred the pork loin and rib eye talk about wonderful the unique combination of spices and flavors goodies come all you won't be disappointed. If worried about service ask for Ali's section she was great with us. If we were locals we would be here all the time. Food 5 stars - service 5 stars - beer 5+ stars.

I've been coming here for years on business trips. Three years ago I would have given Altitude four stars, but over the past four or five visits, the quality of the food has gone down hill. I have recently tried the salmon burger and it was ground bits of salmon with spices, completely lackluster. I have also recently had a French dip sandwich. The meat was unbelievably fatty and tasteless. Today, I had the pizza. I really hoped that it would be good and restore my faith in Altitude's food. Unfortunately, the pizza was soggy and tasteless. I don't know if the management has changed or whether Altitude is employing cost-cutting measures, but their food gets one star. On the other hand, some of their beers are excellent. I love the porter, and today I tried the imperial saisson, which was excellent. I have noticed the crowds thinning out, and I sincerely hope that the management gets their act together to restore the quality that Altitude used to offer.

Not much food for your money, but the steak was good. Do you like mashed potatoes with your steak? We prefer baked, but that was not on the menu. The salad was extremely small--about 1/2 cup of greens! No bread or crackers!! Strange, way undercooked, veggies on plate with steak. I've never continued to be hungry before after leaving a steakhouse. We really wanted to like this place, but there is a lot of room for improvement. Keep trying!!

Mediocre service was left in waiting are while 2 other walk in parties were seated before me then I was seated in the back fourth in and around a bunch of children. Order a med well prime rib got a med rare server noticed 3/4 of the way throughout meal had mgr speak with me was offered another declined. Food tasted good. Service adequate. Found the hostess to be bubble headed blonde and bubble butted also with braces. Mgmnt needs to get a clue for gods sake this is a college town with a bevy of attractive vivacious women hire one of them period and get a cook that Knos something other than med rare. Priced appropriately but to expensive for the level of service provided.

If you expect marginal or better service DO NOT waste your time. I recently met a friend for lunch on a seemingly slow day. We walked out 10 minutes later after our server hadn't even come by to say hello or offer us water. I went to college in Laramie and can testify to the slim pickings on dining choices in town - this is probably why Altitude can get away with this and continues to stay in business. In the last five years the menu has changed minimally and the service almost always is horrible. Also, to my best recollection I have walked out on AT LEAST four other occasions because of the scenario I described above when I was going to school. Altitude's owners have yet to figure out that when one dines out they want to be taken care of, not treated like inconvenience. I've tried to give this place a chance but the only things you can consistently count on are crummy service and mediocre food. The reviews indicate a wildly polarized dining experience from excellent to poor...I wouldn't recommend Altitude for that reason.

Went in on a Friday the night before Homecoming, and during the farmer's market. Very crowded, but had reservations so was seated without a wait. Puzzled by the complaints re: service. Greeted promptly and professionally by an informed staffer. The food was ok, but nothing better than could be prepared at home. The beer was very good. It's brewed on premises, by someone who knows what he's doing. The seasonal IPA was plenty bitter, with a strong hop finish. A friend had their blonde ale, which he liked enough to order another. Typical brewpub that does beer better than food, but both are good enough to recommend.

While passing through on a roadtrip, I met a friend here for dinner as they said they had heard this was the best place (in a finer dining sense) to eat in Laramie. I think someone may have lied to them. We started off with an order of fried calamari. It was on the soggy side and wasn't much better than something you would get out of the frozen food section at the supermarket. I got the $20 prime rib dinner which was super underwhelming. It was dull looking - a uniform brown gray color and dull tasting. Prime Rib shouldn't be dry and chewy, but their's was. All and all not a great dining experience for money.

Laramie's best brewpub. Their beers are among the best that are brewed in all of Wyoming and some of them can give the Fort Collins brews a run for their money. They have a few regular beers they keep around all year, but the real draw is their seasonals and single batch brews. It's the only place I've encountered a jalepeno beer and the 10% ABV wheat brew they had last summer was delicious (more like wheat wine). It's about the right time of year for their pumpkin ale, which is usuallly worth it. Given that, the food and service are often hit-and-miss. This usually depends on how busy they are (it gets very crowded on the weekends), although I've had some pretty non-memorable meals here when they weren't busy. The burgers are fine and the steak is nothing to sneeze at, but any pretense of this place being gourmet should be ignored.

This is an entirely decent non-chain restaurant in a town full of chain restaurants. I had a good, rare steak wrapped in bacon. The mashed potatoes tasted instant. Good beer on tap. Laramie...what do you say about this town. There's not much for foodies here.

Great beer, good food. Can be very crowded so be ready for a wait for a seat. Food is served in bar area on a first come first served basis so that can shorten the wait. Burgers are excellent, I had the fish and chips. The chips were excellent, the fish okay, I think the fish was pre-frozen and breaded, probably Sysco so it only gets an okay. Probably best to keep the choices simple. The pasta dishes looked good but did not try.

We tried to go to Saratoga the night before Easter, but the road was closed, so we turned back to Laramie. After getting a cheap(and surprisingly nice) room at the Sunset Inn on S. 3rd, we went foraging. Drew at the Sunset told us about this place, so we rolled in about 8PM on a Saturday, and were immediately seated at the bar, which was packed, as was the rest of the place. We sampled the beer lineup while waiting for our food, and being beer snobs since back when Coors was rare & considered interesting, and having just come from Tommyknocker, Odell, & New Belgium breweries, said "Thanks. Interesting. What kind of wine ya got?" The beers weren't bad, just nondescript, no great shakes. Adequate. We had an artichoke parm dip to start, which was OK. My friend had a Cobb Salad or some such, while I lucked into some sort of Thai fettucini, that was killer, and made me want to get an order to go, just in case I never found it again. Totally made me a fan of this place, along with the quick service........and the beers are definitely drinkable, just don't go there expecting beer greatness. And be careful of The Buckhorn(the bar, not the beer)

Went here for lunch last week while visiting family in Laramie. Their IPA is quite tasty, atmosphere is sophisticated for Laramie, service was good, menu is interesting. Ultimately, though, the food sounded a lot better than it tasted. Nothing terribly wrong with it, just not on a level with expectations.

The food wasn't anything to write home about. Decent esp. for WY, which is not known as a culinary destination (except maybe Jackson). Large beer selection of their own brewing. The place was packed on a Wed. night. maybe make reservations or have a designated driver.

  • Lars S.

The food was at best simply passable -- fries cold with a hot entree, for example, indicating coordination trouble in the kitchen, and both of our entrees were at the Denny's level, only significantly more expensive. The service was REALLY incompetent -- not simply slow from beginning to end, but forgetful of even the most modest request, such as the request for ketchup. If this is the best that Laramie has to offer, buy a sandwich and a beer in the Safeway and eat in your room.

Altitude Chophouse was far more decent than I expected to find in Laramie. I ordered the special halibut of the night that came with an orange glaze and wild rice, really good, not to fishy, a little buttery. The boy ordered a prime rib that was amazingly well done. I had to have a bit, even though I don't really eat the cow. The only thing I wouldn't order again would be the bacon wrapped scallops, but that was iffy in the middle of WY anyway. Lastly, they make their own beer that I thought was really good!

I had to be in Laramie on business so of course a liquid lunch was in order. Because a good three martini lunch was not a possibility, I decided to try some locally brewed beer. While the alcohol in the beer did the trick of meeting the requirements of providing closure to a windy, cold, and stressful day on the prairie, the beer itself was not something that I would come back to this brewery for. I am not a beer connoisseur, however, I actually sampled some beer at the request of our server that I don't think was ready for sale/consumption. After a few beers (of another flavor) we got hungry and decided to have lunch which was not a good idea. I had a very dry, flavorless veggie wrap with a bad side salad and my coworker had some kind of meat sandwich with aus jus. He ate it all but he was a man who was hungry. Overall, this brewery needs a boost in the menu and a kick in the vat to get things up to par.

I'm sooo confused about the direction of decor in here! I know this seems so petty- this should be about the food and the beer right? Well, ambiance is important too, at least in my book. There are "lodge" type decorations, mixed with silk ivy, mixed with impressionist style paintings, and sports memorabilia. I don't get it? It's a beautiful building and COULD be amazing... We were driving up from Ft. Collins and I called to make reservations for 7pm. The hostess asked if 6:45 would be possible, and I explained we were driving at that time from Ft. Collins and I couldn't guarantee 6:45. She told us to not worry, get there when we could and drive safely, we would have a reservation. Which I thought was very accomodating. The food was decent, standard brew pub fare. I had the pizza and the crust was very flavorful, however it was not crispy at all. Lots of cheese though, so it was a good value for the money. The beer was ok, the Hefenweizen was a bit boring, but the Amber Ale was nice. The kids enjoyed drawing on the butcher paper covered table and service was speedy despite the fact the restaurant was packed on a Friday evening. I was very impressed with the price- everything was very reasonable, especially for a college town.

Yummy yummy yummy. I had a turkey and havarti sandwich there with criss cross fries for lunch. I hear they also have really good microbrews, but since I was there with co-workers for lunch, I couldn't partake. =( Oh well. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere was relaxed and pretty chill. I will definitely go back there again next time I'm in Laramie.

Really good food and beer that is it's equal. The service was terrific. We went at the recommendation of a friend who'd been in Laramie for a football game. Ended up liking our dinner so much that we went again the next day for lunch before heading out of town. We enjoyed the crab dip, the chicken fajita wrap, the salads, a pasta dish, and a prime rib sandwich. Definitely recommend this to folks visiting Laramie.

We went in February, 2010. Enjoyed the fried calimari appetizer and the beer sampler a lot. The red ale was a standout. I'm blanking on what we got for entrees, but I remember them being good but a tad underwhelming - similar to what other reviewers have said. Good for a brewpub, but not as good as the menu choices, atmosphere, and AAA 3-diamond rating (if you put stock in those) would have you believe. Still, a very worthy stop if you are in the area and enjoy microbreweries/pubs. Parking was a breeze and we would have walked around the surrounding area a bit had we had more time.

For a college town, Laramie has a serious lack of quality original restaurants, and Altitude has not only exceptional food, but it's very own line of top notch craft beers. Laramie's lack of restaurant options is never more apparent than on Friday and Saturday nights during college football season, when you can wait more than an hour for a table. In the end, it's worth the wait, since your other alternative is the Village Inn.

Arrived on an August evening without reservation. Friendly service, good specials (beef and pork) and great beer. The deserts were very good (wrapped banana in particular).
