I had been reading about the Merry Piglets for three years on RVnet. I drove 40 miles from Colter Bay RV campground. Really worth the drive. The chips and salsa were the best I've ever had. I could have made that my meal. I went for the Piglets Sampler. An enchilada, taco and a chimichanga. FANTASTIC! Had two house margaritas were a nice add. Service was great! I wish I was staying longer, I'd be back!

We stopped at this place with friends and the food was ok. The veggie fajitas were really good, but the rest of the party said their food was average. We found another really good mexican place in Jackson called hatch, which really is much better

Four of us sat at the bar. Our bartender, Sabrina was fantastic. Her coworker was just as good. Chips and salsa were good. Great selection of local beers available. I had the street tacos. They were average at best. Good price point, but very bland and unremarkable. My other buddy got the street tacos and the other two got some cheese crisp thingy with pork. It was huge!! Not something I would ever order. Shredded iceberg, shredded cheese, refried beans, tomatoes, and I believe tostadas on the bottom. It literally looked like something a drunk college kid would prepare after coming home from the bars. I'm not trying to knock this place. If you're into Gringo style Mexican food then this is your place. I'd rather stick to the friendly girls working the bar and munch on chips & salsa.

Overall disappointed. Service was slow, we had a couple house margaritas and a shot. Took several times telling our order before they got it right. Salsa was good tho With the family and we ordered several different items. My green chile burrito had maybe a teaspoon of green chile. But hey, the tortilla was green so I guess that counts

Yeah - we ended up here because every other place was closed. The service was meh. Yes, I'm an out of towner asking about gluten free options, sorry, not sorry, if that annoys you, Mr. server. If you don't care to look into things and not appear put out then I don't care to patronize your restaurant again. We stayed because the kids were hungry and it was late. I opted for the Nachos which were huge and heavy. They weren't bad for what they were (and would honestly probably be great after a night of drinking). My husband liked his burrito bowl - much lighter than the Nachos. The scenery was weird, the food was just ok. The prices weren't bad. We likely won't be hitting this place again if we come through Jackson.

If you are accustomed to good authentic Mexican food, don't go here. The salsa was like ketchup and unfortunately they did not have any hotter salsa. We had the green burrito. It tasted funky and was not enjoyable to eat. The upside was that the hostess and waitress was attentive.

Food and service was very good. This seems to be a placed visited by locals and as such, it is VERY loud. While I am not expecting a quite dinner when I go out to eat, I also don't want to feel like I am in the middle of a wild party which is what it seemed like on the night I was there.

If I happen to be in Jackson, WY again, I would return here, but I wouldn't mind trying another place if anything else here was open!! The food is really tasty, with big portions, and classic Mexican fare. That being said the piglet theme was a bit bizarre. Pig paintings in every direction, doesn't do much for my appetite. Our server was sweet, speedy, and pretty relaxed. We both got their enchiladas and could barely finish, they were 9.95 for a full plate!

Had lunch here twice last week and loved it. Great food and all the chips and salsa that you can eat. Had the ground beef then the buffalo chicken taco's and both were great. Jenny really took care of us and she makes a mean margarita as well! Good chow!

Overall, great. Someone ordered nachos for I think about $13 and that dish alone could have fed 5 people, and was delicious. I had a shrimp street taco for $4.50 and was about 3 bites - they were excellent, but order something else if you're hungry. The taco salads did not look super appetizing. Excellent chips and salsa.

This place sucks!! I hate putting bad reviews but have to advise. If you like cheap imitation Mexican food from a can charged at high prices then this is for you...The atmosphere is extremely loud and rushed. The staff is terrible and rude. Our waiter had us wait for ever then came over and simply said "are you ready to order" after taking out order he didn't ask us if we wanted a drink!! I know we came in about 45 minutes before the closed but if I'm spending that kind of money for Mexican food that tastes like it should be served at Taco Bell the least they can do is smile and make you feel welcome...On the positive side the Salsa is very good. Definitely won't be back!!

I can only speak to the chips, salsa, guac, "street tacos" and margaritas. All are excellent. The tacos al carbon street tacos are just awesome - closest thing to real mexican street food that you are likely to find in Wyoming. The spicy chorizo street tacos are very good too. And the chips and salsa and guac are positively addictive. Not fancy. Just excellent.

We came here for drinks and ended up ordering street tacos and nachos as well--the food and margaritas were great. Great service up at the bar, too. The murals on the wall featuring piglets are adorable. :)

The restaurant was very busy! 40 minute wait but after we sat down the food came out rather quickly. Forgot part of our order. The atmosphere wasn't worth the price you pay to eat there. Felt somewhat rushed and stressful overall.

If I order a taco salad I expect a taco salad. Not some bagged iceberg salad mixture that's dumped onto a plate with blackened chicken and a scoop guacamole. Husband ordered street tacos (eh), children ordered a soft pork taco (gobbled up), and a quesadilla.

My grandma told me this was her favorite place to eat when she was visiting Jackson so I should definitely eat here. We got kind of a late start on dinner that night so the place was fairly empty when we walked in. Right after we sat down we were served complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh and authentic and delicious. I ate way too many chips before our meal! We both ordered a house margarita and it was really good. I don't even remember what I ordered anymore but it was an enchilada I believe. I did love the rice and beans that came with it. My boyfriend ordered a burrito with spinach and shrimp and it was really good. I would go back for just the awesome salsa!

solid mexican place in jackson. we went with a group, had big dinners and big drinks. the chips are warm which is always a plus. the drinks are huge and likely the spiciest spicy margarita i have ever had. dinners were great, chili relleno, fajitas all tasted great. nice find for a mexican joint in wyoming, and cheaper than the other mexican spot in town.

Great margaritas and carne asada in the Wyoming Wonderland

Not bad, though service could improve. Decent Mexican, but there are lots of choices in Jackson with more attention to detail.

Merry Piglets is the BEST TEX-MEX place in town! It's a great place to meet up with friends it's casual and cute. The entire concept is really what pushes it over the top. I love the food as well too. There is something so comforting about their salsa and then sometimes, not all the time, they will bring out hot and fresh chips every time. Not the best for authentic Mexican food and sometimes a little over-priced but all in all so good. The burritos are huge. Unless you are very hungry you can not finish one yourself. The queso dip is to die for! I have friends that go there just for queso and leave but don't do that because the fish tacos are super good too and the tamales. You pretty much can't go wrong when ordering. The only thing I would suggest not doing is ordering this like BBQ chipotle sauce thing on your burrito... I made that mistake and it wasn't my favorite.

Neat little Mexican Restaurant just off the edge of town. Nice atmosphere w/ friendly & fast service. We all enjoyed our meals & I especially liked my beef tacos!

I was actually concerned at first when we were sat down because the lady next to us was hollering trying to get the girl seating's attention and was huffy. But I was mistaken!! The food here was amazing. Out waitress was attentive and super sweet all out of 5 people (including a toddler) were very pleased. Do yourself a favor and try the fish tacos.

Working in the restaurant industry myself I don't ask for much. My expectations are to simply be served food without much else. I can tolerate poor to below average service without ever batting an eye while tipping 20% That being said Merry Piglets has set the bar for me when to put my foot down. I arrived hungry to dine right at 8pm on a Saturday evening. Upon arrival, there was no one to greet me at the door. But, no worries I just sat myself at the bar. Living in Jackson and having frequented the restaurant many times before I didn't need a menu or someone to fluff me or tell me specials as I knew what I wanted. Looking around the restaurant there were 4 to 5 tables sat and 2 individuals at the bar dining. I sat and waited and waited and waited. After 5 to 10 minutes being patient watching t.v..waiting for a server or bartender. I got up and got a menu from the hostess stand myself because there still was no one at the hostess stand. Thinking an open menu may prompt someone to ask if i needed service or help. I sat with the open menu another 10 to 15 minutes. After making eye contact with a few of the servers and the now returned hostess there still was no question if I need help or service. At this point another couple walked in and waited at the host stand to be sat. I noticed one of the patrons sitting at the bar get up and greet them. I can only assume it was the manager on duty or the bartender. At this point I got up to leave only to catch a few of the staff's eyes. But they looked away recognizing I had not been helped and not wanting to deal with me or acknowledge there was an issue. I was getting the sense the place was clearing out and no one wanted to have to open a new check. Don't worry guys you would still be home by 10 PM. No one said anything. So I got up and left pissed at 8:27 without having being spoken to, served, nothing. I know from living in Jackson, a tourist town, that service is not always the number one priority and patience is a good virtue to have. But this was ridiculous. I didn't have expectations of prompt service, smiles, refills. I only wanted the bare minimum. Someone to acknowledge me, take my order within 15 minutes and serve the food and bring the check. The bare minimum. I was more than happy to pay the high Jackson WY prices for standard Mexican fare ($14 for a 2 taco plate, $5 plus Coronas). Blue Collar Restaurant Group this sucks even for Jackson standards. Sitting in your restaurant for 27 minutes and not being spoken to, not served even a glass of water. This has set a new low for me dining out. What are you guys doing??? How is there not a bartender behind the bar?? On a Saturday?? In December right before X-Mas?? Where is a manager??? I know its a tourist town and you don't really have to do much but remember people like me actually live here year round. I don't think I have seen people care less in the service industry ever anywhere.

Went last Saturday for lunch and ordered the Vegetarian Fajitas. The waitress told us they had a two for one sale if we ordered chicken, beef or combo. The vegetarian selection didn't qualify for the two for one. I wonder why not? How about becoming a bit more Vegetarian friendly!!! The chips and salsa were good as always.

The free chips and salsa are better than the food. Try Abuelita instead, and support actual Mexicans

Great enchiladas and tacos. The tomatillo salsa is outstanding, too. The chef is Mexican and really cooks up authentic Mexican food. He has worked here for 20+ years. Great ambiance with murals and other decor that makes you feel as if you were south of the border. Hosts, waitresses, and other staff were very friendly and service was very fast. Who knew you could get great Mexican food in Wyoming?!

With a late night walk in staff accommodated us and allowed us to order at the bar. Our servers were friendly and attentive. I ordered the Tex-Mex burrito that was both filling and fairly priced ($11 approx.). My friend ordered a salad that was also a generous portion an filling as well. Yes I would revisit this location again.

Good quality meat and tasty sauce - When you combine these ingredients with great margaritas you have a winning formula for a Mexican restaurant. Negative was that there was quite a wait, even in early evening and this could have been a lot better if they'd get their act together And bus the tables promptly.

Delicious! They have the best salsa in town and their chips are perfect and warm! My mouth is watering just writing this review. I've never been disappointed eating here and I have lived here my whole life, this is definitely my favorite restaurant in town!

We came in here for dinner and were served pretty quickly- chips and salsa, along with a bowl of guacamole at our request, were brought to our table while we were being seated. Our waitress was VERY nice, and even pointed out that she didn't think my meal was cooked right, and it wasn't. My sister and I ordered the enchilada plate to split, one cheese and one chicken. The chicken one was fine and delicious, but mine wasn't melted, so there was just shredded cheese inside. Also, I didn't really like the cheese sauce served with it. This place is kind of cute with the funny pig paintings everywhere, and the service is pretty good, along with the food.

Their margaritas were okay. The place seemed packed, but the food was mediocre. I'm not sure I get it. When you see other reviews & they say the best thing is the chips & salsa.... well....

The Merry Piglets is always on our to do list while in Jackson. Love the atmosphere! Service is good and food is great! Wait time can get pretty long so we try to go before or after the "normal" dinner rush.

Took a long time for the waitress to show up and just as long for the drinks. Only one mild salsa for the chips, Ok pork taco, beans were average and the rice wasn't very good. And the floors were very dirty and same for the bathroom.

I agree with many of the other reviewers--the service is poor, and the food is well below average. Bland food, slow service, rude staff.

  • R H.

They start you out with chips that are never stale and not greasy. Then they bring me a great carne asada burrito and I choose from their sauces. I usually get queso. Side of sour cream and I'm set. Then my other half orders spinach shrimp quesadila. This is normally our order. Big yum.

The shrimp & chicken fajita was delicious. No issues with the service.

Threes stars for the margarita $5.50 nice and strong but food quality was poor velveta cheese is gross in enchilada unacceptable but maybe in this town!

  • John K.

Food was good, but not excellent. I had the asada burrito with chile con queso. The steak was tender and excellent, could have used more flavors in the burrito and the shell was a little bit too thick/bready. The rice and beans were fairly bland and the guacamole needed more lemon juice and could have been much better. It was ok though compared to some other mexican restaurants. The service was mediocre, our waitress was too busy, hire more during this peak season. Overall good food and a good time, I would try this again next time.

Fresh food with great flavor. Loved that we could personalize our dishes with sauce choices. Attentive service was definitely a plus as well. We will come back when we are in town again. Enchiladas, Tex-Mex burrito and relleno.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
