Our server is unpleasant and unfriendly...the food is okay though...nothing special....

I can't say much positive about this experience other than the waitress was very nice. When we came into the restaurant, there were 3 other couples waiting for tables. I gave my name & began to wait also. The other couples were seated quickly & I waited another 10 minutes. Normally this wouldn't be a negative experience. However, when half the restaurant is empty & staff are running all around, you have to wonder why you are waiting at all! We ordered 3 meals & one buffet. The 3 meals were out to us in 10 minutes. That should tell you that nothing is fresh or homemade. It wasn't. My chicken was completely tasteless & my rice had been microwaved to the point it was translucent. The guys in my group thought their meal was fine. I didn't have the same luck.

We are locals and have eaten here on a number of occasions. As creatures of habit we often order the same items. My wife normally has the hot roast beef sandwich. She loves the tomato basil soup; the chicken noodle soup is also good. I have ordered the chicken fried steak (good), hot turkey sandwich (also good); the dill battered cod (good but a small portion). Last night we tried the dinner buffet (served nightly during the summer months). It was a major disappointment. Meat loaf (ok), baked chicken thighs (small, tough), mashed potatoes and gravy (we like their mashed potatoes), mixed veggies, Mac and cheese, whole wheat and white hot rolls. Salad was ok, Romaine and fixings. Soft serve ice cream and various pies for dessert. I'm sure they offer different entrees on other nights. We have always been satisfied with the food we order off the menu. Our advice is to avoid the buffet. Service is normally pretty fast; the servers very nice. Probably not the best food you'll find in Cody, but well cooked and tasty at a decent price. (Half orders are available on some offerings).

Good, hot breakfast. The portions were slightly larger than I expected, but excellent. I had the pancakes, which had a bit of vanilla flavor, which I enjoyed. Service was excellent and our waiter was very friendly. We will likely return here again during our vacation.

The Good: ...... The Bad: Nothing is fresh or homemade. Service is slow & unprofessional. Shitty coffee, but that's normal. even for breakfast places, in Wyoming sadly. The Food: Decent, kind of, I guess, sort of. Big menu, all pre-made/frozen food of low quality, which I think is the standard in Wyoming. Or buy yourself eggs & bread at the store and save your cash because it's certainly nothing special. The Service: Our waitress was rushed & harried, making excuses and acting frustrated, she kept apologizing for the slow service claiming she was incredibly busy but the room was 90% empty. Overall: Never going back.

It was a snowy, windy night in cody. The parking lot was packed and as we walked to the door everyone was greeting one another. Obviously a local favorite. We put in our name and waited about 5 minutes for our table. Service was reasonably fast - i ordered trout and sweety had soup(tortilla) and house salad. A loaf of bread was delivered. Soup was ok, salad was not iceberg. We noticed the house salads delivered to the neighboring locals table were nicer .... We were feeling a bit ignored as our server had a couple of large groups. The trout was very good. Ordered desserts apple crisp and bread pudding. Crisp was ok but the apples were a bit more solid than usual. The bread pudding was unusual. It was more like cinnamon toast in caramel sauce. We were not offered coffee with dessert... Overall it was not bad.

First impression: disorganization, tension among staff members, hostess had her hands all over her nose, repeatedly, then brought us our set ups. Chummy waitress, very chatty - hate that, along with being called "you guys" and, even worse, "hon". The "floor show", in the shape of the world's slowest busboy offered some diversion. Incredibly incompetent, slow, slow, slow, talking to himself and heaving huge exhausted sighs after each table, having apparently expended heroic effort on clearing each one. Did I mention the three-shelf trolley of dirty dishes he parked within two feet of our table? (I am not making fun of a handicapped person here - he did not appear to be handicapped by anything other than being a poorly groomed teenager with a crappy attitude.) Does this place HAVE a manager? After all that, the food was surprisingly.. reasonably good, mostly. My companion's steak was done properly as he ordered and tasty. The mashed potatoes were real, the veggies steamed quite well. My salad consisted of lettuce, properly dry (I hate wet lettuce even more than I hate being called "hon".), fresh berries, a hard boiled egg - all good so far. Then came the pre-cooked, pre-seasoned, then frozen, rubber chicken-like substance on top. You know those nasty "grilled chicken breasts" at fast food places? That! All in all, a disconcerting, weird experience. I couldn't get out of there fast enough and won't be returning.

My party of 6 visited here for dinner one night last week. It was located close to our hotel and I looked up reviews and it seemed promising. I'm a vegan and I had a few options to choose from, which immediately made me happy. I read positive reviews about a server named Raelle and was happy to see her come over and introduce herself. She was polite and answered every question we had. The dinner service was fast and our drinks were consistently full. We ended up going back for the breakfast buffet the next morning! If you're staying at the Best Western you get a small discount. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Decided to try them again after a two year lapse. What a mistake. It was as bad as before. The coffee was terrible, the eggs were not only greasy but were also rubbery Pancakes taste odd; must be the vanilla Staff were indifferent

This is a nice place and recently remodeled. Locals find it a favorite. I am not a local. Sunset House is similar to a Denny's. How mean this is Denny's is a 1 and Sunset House is a 10. Good menu I had the Mediterranean Chicken and my wife Fandango Salad. Our server was Raelle and she was great, patient, kind and attentive. Our bill was just under $26 (no drinks). Good meal, nicely remodeled (2014). I will add that Sunset House is different than other restaurant in Cody in that Sunset house is not pretentious and stuck up. Sunset House will provide a quality meal in a nice atmosphere. Equals great value.

What the Sunset House lacks in character and ambiance it makes up for in a damn fine burger. My boyfriend and I each ordered the Cowboy Burger, which comes with onion rings and bbq sauce. The meat was perfectly seasoned and we both agreed that it was one of the better burgers we have had in a while.

The food is excellent! It took awhile to get a table but think they were short handed.

My husband and I were staying in the motel next door so we decided to eat here before leaving town. We caught the breakfast buffet. Lots of choices and the food was very good. Waitress was pleasant and attentive.

Buffet or a la carte. Busy place which is a reflection of value for money as much as anything Standard fair; nothing exceptional or horrible Fill yr belly for $16 plus alcohol cost far cheaper than elewhere in town ; unexceptional but satisfactory There is often a queue for tables- but usually short Good Value if not notable

Terrible don't come here. Very disappointed, service is very poor, the soup I ordered is so bland, has no flavor. I ordered a wild burger medium rare I got an almost burned burger. No taste to it, not even seasoned, the waitress did not even offered even catsup. I am afraid to complain for I may make her upset and do something on my food. Will not come back and will tell my friends and family not to come here. By the way our waitress looks like she don't care, does not know customer service. Terrible place.

Everything that we had was very good! I got buttered noodles, and they were very tasty! And real parmesan! Was a very pleasurable experience altogether. Went back for breakfast the next day and the pancakes and bacon were both excellent. Plus they give 20% off if you are staying at the motor inn across the street!

We got the dinner buffet. It was horrible. The food was like a Swanson or Banquet microwaved dinner dumped into containers. The bread was stale. There seems to be much better options in Cody. I'm usually a fan of small places and "roadfood" but this place wasn't good. Maybe their cooked to order food is better but I doubt it. Waitress was nice but didn't refill ice teas.

We were staying at a hotel near Sunset House and while hot-tubbing with some fellow hotel guests, we got to talking about the various restaurants we'd visited in Cody. We had been sadly disappointed by an establishment at the other end of town for dinner. We enjoyed another the night before but it about broke the bank. So when these folks said they'd enjoyed a good meal at a reasonable price, we thought we'd give it a go. We were very pleased with our server, Jenny, who was extremely friendly and personable. The food was fresh and well-cooked. My husband had biscuits and gravy; the gravy was homemade and the biscuits were light and fluffy. My meal was too much to eat in one sitting and very good. They offer a good variety on the children's menu too. We look forward to our next visit to Cody and will happily dine at Sunset House again.

This is a wonderful breath of fresh air after nine long days of travel. We had four opportunities to eat in Cody and ate here all four times. The menu is varied and their are good selections for smaller appetites and for special diets. This is also a popular spot for locals. Good food, nice pricing. Although we did not try the buffet, the selection seemed fresh and varied. Excellent steaks, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and breakfast.

Very bland atmosphere compared to other restaurants in Cody. Seemed like a generic little place that could be anywhere. My dad ordered the Buffalo Burger and said it was delicious. I had the rodeo burger that was alright; a bit overcooked. They said that they wouldn't cook anything less than medium rare. The waitress brought us out the wrong side-dish at first, but was quick to bring us out the right one once I told her. There are a ton of places to eat in Cody so I would definitely save this one for after you've eaten at all the better places.

My Dad and I ate dinner at the Sunset House. There are not many choices of food in Cody WY, so I would consider this restaurant one of the best. My Dad ate a Buffalo Burger, which he really enjoyed, with a side salad. They were having a special buffet that night and I ate off the buffet. The buffet had ham, ribs, macaroni and cheese, pasta, corn, green beans, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, bread, fried chicken, and desserts. I ate some ribs, pasta, corn, green beans, and bread. All of the food was pretty good except the bread and the desserts. This is not the best buffet I have eaten at, but overall it is pretty decent.
