Totally awesome huevos rancheros with Hatch Green Chili. Upsetting that yelp won't post a short message so I'm adding this

Driving through Cheyenne, and this place had the highest ratings, so we gave it a try. We both ordered burgers and they were seasoned pretty great, juicy, and delicious, and not mega greasy. Our waitress also gave us a piece of blueberry pie, on the house! Granted, it tasted like canned blueberries, but it was really sweet of her.

Stopped in for breakfast. Food and service were excellent! I had the biscuits and gravy. Very good but should have got the half order!

Always worth any wait. I don't think you can go wrong here, but the chicken fried steak is amazing. Def a local fav!

Wonderful service and awesome food. Charming little BoxCar diner. I had the Caboose, which is the Chicken Fried Steak. The steak was really tasty, and the gravy was excellent. Everything I had was cooked right to order and tasted like good diner food.

Stopped by the Luxury Diner on the way to a concert in Colorado and on the suggestion of my girlfriend, ordered the Breakfast Burrito. The waitress suggested adding chorizo, and asked if we wanted the large or the small. We each ordered a large, with chorizo. The small would have been plenty, but we were both able to down the entire thing. Delicious.

Green chili cheeseburger was great. Loved the seasoned fries. Husband had the caboose and loved it. We were the last table of the day but the staff was happy to serve us. I would stop again if Cheyenne is ever in my travels again.

Where to start ? We first started dining here back in 1972 , would treat ourselves to a steak and potato at least one time a month on payday . I think it was in the 73 when Master Sergeant Everet Seay and his wife bought the place. The food and service continued to be excellent and the coffee always hot and fresh . Back in those days the only place to sit was in the old dining car and there was parking where the big room is now. Every since transferring out of Warren AFB in 77 our travels have taken us through Cheyenne many many times and would never consider not having a meal at this fine old diner. The food is always good and by gosh it still feels like home .

Best Santa Fe Breakfast burrito outside of Santa Fe! The coffee was delicious, too. I'm from New Orleans and considered myself a "foodie", the food here was exceptional quality of service was friendly and coffee was topped off several times. The diner is a converted dining car from a 1926 train. Inside the diner car is all types of memorabilia of trains. Quite appropriate considering Cheyenne is a railroad town. It sits affront a 40' s style motel called the Wyoming Motel definitely worth a picture or two.

Normally my reviews lean towards the wordy side, but when it comes to Luxury diner, I find that I don't have a ton to say... Which can be both good and bad I suppose. It has a very hole in the wall feeling, which I appreciate. I believe that it was converted from an old train car, also very cool. It's a small space, so I imagine seating is a pain when it gets busy... We ended up sitting at the counter. As for the food, it was pretty standard, neither amazing nor disappointing. We both ordered breakfast consisting of eggs, meat, and potatoes. Again, pretty standard fare. The prices were also pretty standard (Bout 8 or 9 before tax for bacon and eggs). Overall, we weren't sorry we came. It was a fun experience to try out one of the local haunts.

We found this place on yelp a few years ago and enjoyed our breakfast then so we returned, What a Cool old Divey Diner......It is always packed and hard to get a parking place, so we park across the street at the Microtel and walk across the street... The food is Classic Diner fare. Short order cooks, cranking out killer food... We had the Burgers today because it was lunch time... nothing like a great flattop burger with the works and some crunchy fry's.... .. we make this a stop for sure... the tattoo covered cooks and waitress's made me feel right at home...As I was leaving i felt compelled to give a shout in the kitchen at these guys who were cranking out the killer food, its always nice to hear from a customer and feel appreciated... See you next year!

Ok, we can rest easy. Apparently TLD is merely undergoing renovations and should open in June. Whew!

Nothing exceptional, but big portions of solid food. Cinnamon bun was massive but dry. The huevos ranchero was very good and I would recommend.

We found this place on Yelp and so glad we did. It's not fancy-it's a diner. Actually, part of the diner is an old train caboose. It has lots of train memorabilia. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I got the special which was chicken Parmesan shown in the picture at $9.50. The food was huge... If you go away hungry it's your fault. We also purchased a huge cinnamon roll to take home and have for breakfast.

  • Hannah W.

Western omelette was good, potatoes good as well, biscuits and gravy SUPERB. I would definitely come back just for the biscuits and gravy. Good vibes in this place and great service too.

    (4)
  • R B.

Love the country feel and down home cooking! The massive cinnamon buns are must have!

  • Darcy B.

This place is a local legend for a reason. I've only ever had their breakfast, but honestly I don't want anything else because it's THAT GOOD. The service is always fast and very friendly. If you want an "old school" diner experience with fantastic food, this is the place to go. Nothing fancy, just great food and hospitality.

    (5)
  • Kim R.

Great little diner. Yummy "greasy spoon" type food, excellent bacon!! Very friendly staff. Half of the restaurant is an adorable old school boxcar with tons of train themed memorabilia.

    (4)
  • Juan L.

Have the chicken fried steak and try their vegetable beef soup pretty awesome. Very cool small old school dinner

    (5)
  • Jim S.

Breakfast sandwich is $5.75 including Luxury Potatoes. Western omelet was perfect. We drive thru Cheyenne often & will be back!

    (4)
  • Sherrie L.

Back open for business! Hand breaded chicken fried steak is delicious!!! Same menu with different items added. Philly cheese steak is huge.

    (5)
  • David F.

Had the steak and eggs. Both were overdone. My girlfriend had the chicken strips and there was more breading than chicken. Our waitress, while friendly, did not know the menu or how to count my change back. Evidently this diner is under new ownership, so make sure to read recent reviews!

    (2)
  • Sandy M.

I should have paid attention to the latest reviews. The green chili burger was good as were the onion rings. The patty melt was over done and I'm not sure there were any grilled onions on it. The french fries were of the variety that you buy in the frozen section of the grocery store. Nothing like the picture below. We were just passing through and I doubt we will return.

On a road trip with my kids and we stopped here for breakfast since a huge pileup and a storm on I80 kept us in Cheyenne longer than anticipated. Found this place here on Yelp and decided to check it out. We were not disappointed. The Huevos were indeed awesome and the younger child had the giant pancakes, bigger than his head. We may never come this way again, but if we do this is on the list for breakfast again.

  • Jennifer W.

Cute little place not far off the highway. Cheesesteak was delicious, service was good and the ambiance is fun.

    (5)
  • James D.

New owners!! Sad. This has been a local favorite for years and ran near full capacity. The new owners who have NO previous Resturant experience changed the menus and recipes. I have tried it three times and it only gets worse. The chili tastes like cheap salsa. The French toast is fried cinnamon bread with little or no batter.

    (1)
  • Libby J.

Disappointing. Cute. Near freeway so quick on and off freeway. But food was marginal. Frozen fries. Pretty pricey for burgers. Not worth the hour. Sorry

  • Chris C.

I love diners. And I really love the Luxury Diner in Cheyenne. This place is everything a great diner should be. Good coffee. Great breakfast. Cheerful waitress. No diner drama. The substance on the toast tastes like butter. The hashbrowns are good. Even the pancakes were considerably better than the typical "diner pancake". Thumbs up to this place!

    (5)
  • Brady R.

Good little diner. All of us had something different and it all looked yummy. The next table over had biscuits and gravy and I should have tried that. And the chicken fried steak and eggs looked yummy. I had the chili burger and loved it. I could have used a smidgen more chili. If you aren't from a small town, expect a quaint dining experience.

Restaurants like this are why we don't eat at chains. It's the kind of local, down-home place that people always refer to as a greasy spoon--but without all the, you know, grease. Everything we've had here has been good, including the French toast and the pancakes. But my favorite by far have been the two-egg breakfasts. I've had them with ham, German sausage, and Canadian bacon, and loved every one. I'm pretty particular about my eggs, and these people get them right every time. We rarely pass by Cheyenne without making a special stop for a meal here. I recommend you do the same.

I joined yelp to write a review for this place!! Awesome breakfast!!!! I was driving cross country and used yelp to find it. Omg amazing breakfast special, great staff and would move to the area just to go again and again. Seriously I am from VA and would drive there tomorrow. I LOVED IT.

    (5)
  • Dana W.

Despite the place being very busy the staff was very friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. My husband ordered a burrito and he said he'd give it 3 stars. My little kids orders pancakes and bacon and the only issue was that the bacon was a little more on the done side than we would have wanted, and we like it crispy. Burger and chicken fried steak were well received. Would go back again. Btw...the table next to is got the biscuits and gravy....order a half of a order.

  • Cristina M.

Omg it looks like such a horrible place to eat at from the outside but once u walk in it gets better. It's a small place u would never think to eat at. The food was delicious!! I personally loved the French dip and the people I came with absolutely loved their meal. The service was amazing so nice and friendly!! I would totally recommend to anyone

We had the displeasure of attempting to eat breakfast at this place this morning. When we arrive the place was full and a couple of groups were waiting for tables. We gave our name to john. I don't know if he is the owner or manager. People continued to come into the so called dinner. When a spot opened at a counter they would just go sit down. John did say anything to them. The people ahead of his whose names were also on the list got seated. We should have had the next available table. But when one opened and before the table was cleared sat down. John said nothing to them. My wife said something to him that we had been waiting and were next. He shrugged his shoulders. At that point we left. Never will we return. And as we were leaving we told other approaching customers our experience in this place. Who knows if the food is worth a damn but if the kitchen is run like the restaurant I would not trust their food.

Came back and ordered the burger again. It was good. So, back on my list for a must stop while in Cheyenne.

This is the epitome of a country diner! This seemed to be everyone's favorite place, from working gentleman to families to couples. There was all sorts of funky art on the walls, and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. I ordered the Santa Fe breakfast burrito, the small size, and boy was I happy I did. Everything from the eggs to the chili was great, and the portion size was perfect. My boyfriend ordered two eggs with bacon and potatoes, and he loved everything too. We would definitely come back here.

    (4)
  • Amy J.

Guess things have changed here nothing was like it used to be. Always had their burgers but the burger now was so dry and tasted like cardboard and was way over cooked. Think they better get the old cooks back that knew what they were doing. This was the second time I was there the first time I had the corned beef club which was NOTHING like it used to be the corn beef didn't even taste like corn beef not sure what it really was I won't be back which is sad because I used to really like the food here.

Hole in the wall diner with a good breakfast! Breakfast burrito was the best thing we had. The green chili sauce was very good!

  • Etay N.

Really good breakfast place, really enjoyed the food and return again. The owner is friendly and talk to the patrons.... If you are a local, otherwise thank you, come again ;-) If you want a good diner while in Cheyenne, you should give this place a try!

Ate breakfast again today at the 'Lux. This time I had their 'Caboose' plate which consisted of a chicken fried steak covered in their sausage gravy and two eggs plus potatoes. I opted for scrambled eggs and then asked (and was cheerfully granted), their magic green chili sauce on top of my eggs. What a combo! This should be a standard menu item. The steak was beautifully breaded and cooked. It was tender, not fatty or oily. The sausage gravy on top was a contender for best in town, only one other establishment is of similar quality. The green chili sauce was outstanding and had nickel-sized chunks of meat in it. Now I understand why it's available for sale by the quart! Just a little zip, no fire. Nice. Goes perfectly with eggs instead of just dumping bottled hot sauce on top like I usually do.

Best breakfast in Cheynne, bar none. Been up here off and on since August and tried a few of the local breakfast joints, then I found this little place. It was a bit difficult to find at first, wasn't looking for the the place to be tucked into the corner of 50's style court motel. The place gets crowded quick and it can be slow at times, but well worth the wait. Biscuits and gravy is hardy and huge! A half order here is like a full order in most places I've been through. A big fan of the basic breakfast, eggs, bacon (4 slices is the norm), luxury potatoes, and toast. That's my Saturday mornings here in town.

We are here in Cheyenne visiting relatives, and decided to try a local breakfast spot. I consider myself a "chicken fried steak expert" and with all of the great "reviews" I tried it. BIG MISTAKE! This thing was a pre-breaded, frozen hockey puck that was simply thrown into a deep fryer and re-heated. On par with the CFS from Dennys, HORRIBLE! The gravy, straight from a CAN! If that was home made gravy then they need to fire the cook. It was horrible! I ordered one biscuit w/gravy instead of toast, and the waitress brings me a whole order of biscuits and gravy. HUH? We ordered a child pancake breakfast with no eggs, instead added an additional piece of bacon for our four-year old son. Par for the course it came with only one piece of bacon. My wife simply ordered two scrambled eggs and a biscuit. She gets a plate of scrambled eggs and no biscuit. She told the waitress she forgot her biscuit (right after I reminded her I only ordered a side biscuit w/gravy and not a whole order) She brings my wife's biscuit, and sets it next to me. (we are sitting across from each other). Did she already forget who the biscuit goes to? Terrible service, sub-par food. Maybe good for Cheyenne, where they have never experienced a real chicken fried steak, but this IS NOT THE SPOT to get your chicken fried steak fix! if ever going through Northern California, on Interstate 5, you MUST stop at the OAISIS GRILL IN DUNNIGAN, CA FOR THE BEST CHICKEN FRIED STEAK IN THE LOWER 48! This thing is hand pounded, hand breaded, and deep fried or grilled (your option). AS FOR THE LUXURY DINER, KEEP DRIVING

And this is what a diner should be! From the quaint exterior/interior (it's an old train car) to the delicious food the whole experience was wonderful. We went close to the lunch hour and got a table right away. Still craving breakfast I ordered the trout with eggs and grits with a side of green chili. The trout was cornmeal crusted and crispy while the grits were the salty/buttery goodness that good grits should be. I opted to pour some of the green chili over the whole deal and it took it up another notch of delicious. We all sampled each others food and the stand out was the sausage. It is like no other sausage I've had before and literally burst in your mouth with porky juiciness. The hashbrowns were also perfectly crispy without being greasy.

Worth the wait when busy. A real treat when not. I have only been here twice, but now that I have the route memorized I'll be back.

  • Nicole M.

Tweakers everywhere. Seriously, the chick behind the counter is tweakin' out like Bugs Bunny. She can't stand still. The seats near the wall in the main dining area smell like funk. I watched two people get up and move. Food is ok, and cheap.

    (2)
  • Jennifer L.

Pretty darn good chicken fried steak :) I also thought our waitress Roxy was very friendly and gave good service. Buy a cool T shirt or Hoodie when you check out, we did.

Ugh. Very mediocre food, good service, felt kinda dirty. Won't go back.meatloaf tasted odd and gravy was gooey,

A fun and funky place to eat at. Staff is super friendly and will make you feel instantly welcomed. You can tell a lot of the customers are regulars and are treated like family. The green chilli is good but a little spicy for my tastes...their eggs benedict is great and I wish we would have tried one of their huge cinnamon rolls! We also loved their bread pudding. Great place in a unique atmosphere. We will be back!

Great meal bowl of green chili topped with a fried egg. Definitely spiced up my day. As always service great! Keep it up Luxury!

This is the best Chicken Fried Steak I have ever had!! If you are driving across the country, this place is a must-stop

    (5)
  • Mike C.

I had their stack of pancakes and they are delicious and ginormous! The waitress warned me thEy were big and she wasn't kidding. I had trouble finishing them but I did. It is a very cozy place place where a lot of locals eat. I would suggest eating there if you're in the area.

    (5)
  • Mike J.

Ok, I'm from the Midwest, so this might be a matter of regional taste; HOWEVER, the hamburger was, at best, just ok. The place was really hard to find. And the townie charm was lost on me. The reason I gave three stars and not less? The green chili was really good. I recommend getting that to go...and getting everything else elsewhere.

I live in Seattle, WA but my mother lives in northern Colorado, and I have had occasion to pass through Cheyenne on more than one occasion. Whenever I do and I'm even the slightest bit hungry, I always make a point to stop at the Luxury Diner. Generally speaking, this place isn't really that special. It's cute because half the restaurant is built in an old train car... so +cool points for that. Though it's a bit cramped, they've done what they can to make it comfortable, and it's an "experience" if nothing else. Their omelettes are good but not fantastic, the hash browns are crispy but a bit skimpy, the coffee is just okay. Their food is good, not fantastic. If not for the funky space and décor, it's still just your basic greasy spoon diner, but there's something a little special about the Luxury that you can't get at just any mom & pop on the road. That special something, I believe, is the service. My mother and I popped in for a late lunch/early dinner the night I left from my last soiree into redneck country, and we arrived at probably around 3 or 3:30 in the afternoon. We were both completely oblivious to the early closing time of 4:00, so we ordered, ate slowly, and chatted for over an hour. I barely noticed that the diner was totally empty except for us... it was a week-day, after all, and the middle of the afternoon between any spot's regular lunch and dinner hours. The waitress there was phenomenally sweet, prompt, and attentive, without being overbearing. She never hovered. She just went about filling sugars, ketchups, bussing tables, and doing her normal closing routine around us without ever giving us the slightest hint that she wanted us to leave. Why? Because she didn't WANT us to leave, even though we stayed until well after 4:30... half an hour after they are supposed to close. Once we realized that they were indeed closing, we apologized profusely, but the waitress insisted that we take our time and that we weren't being a bother to her at all. Even asked us if we wanted dessert! Half an hour AFTER closing! I can't remember the name of this sweet angel that was working that night, but I am very grateful for the extra hour I got to spend with my mother before I hit the road off to Seattle. I only get to see her about once every five years now, and the Luxury Diner gave me just a little extra quality time with zero guilt-trip. I will come back EVERY time I am passing through Cheyenne. Note to the owner: give the nice lady with the dishwater-blonde hair that works close a RAISE!

I never got to try the food because we walked out of the diner without eating (the first time I've ever done that). We waited for over an hour and other customers who ordered after us were being served before us. We asked two waitresses how much longer it would take and they just made excuses about how small the diner is and that they only had two cooks. They didn't bother to apologize. When our waitress finally brought our food, she rudely dropped the food in front of us, made more excuses and then said "If you don't want to wait, you should do to McDonalds". We were not going to eat there after being treated so badly. We left while explaining why to a man working the front counter. We weren't sure if he was the manager but no one else seemed to be concerned. This dinner has a great reputation so I hope this was an isolated incident. The management really needs to train the wait staff on how to treat customers with respect.

  • Josh d.

Cool little diner. Great green chilli. Burgers were tasty, as were the sandwiches. Healthy sized portions. It's everything you want in a greasy spoon diner, including the older, worn out, angry servers with a smokers cough that makes you wonder if she's operating on 1 or 2 lungs... Luxury Diner has become my go-to spot whenever I'm hungry and in Cheyenne!

    (3)
  • Ryan Q.

I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. It was good. Solid diner food, decent prices and good portion sizes. Service was fine. I'd go again if I'm in Cheyenne.

We drove up from Denver just to get out of the house and decided to stop here to eat based on Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. We had to wait awhile for our food, but the waitstaff was very apologetic. The food was definitely worth the wait. I had The Conductor (corned beef hash, Luxury potatoes, eggs, and 1 pancake). Everything was delicious! The pancake was nice a fluffy and melted in my mouth. The corned beef hash was expertly charred on the flat top grill with onions. The potatoes were well seasoned with onions and green peppers sautéed in the mix. I can't believe I ate it all! If I'm ever back in Cheyenne, I will return to the Luxury Diner.

We stopped here on our way into Cheyenne. The staff was friendly and the food was great. The portions were generous-- I ordered the chicken fried steak, and gladly ate every bite. Highly recommend to those "just passing through."

Just finished another monster breakfast at LD. 2 days in a row for a rustic, real American diner! The service was fantastic. The coffee was average at best so I opted for Sweet tea. I had the eggs & ham with bacon and a pancake. I was stuffed and happy about it! I shall return !!!

  • Nick N.

Great food, thanks yelp as we were just traveling through on our way to Hot Springs from Denver, and would not have stopped except for the great reviews. We had the Chicken Fried Steak and it was very good. Our grandson loved the chicken basket as well. We will stop again next time we come this way. Service was a tad slow, or I would give it five stars.

  • Amy H.

Great food. We had the corned beef hash, omelette, biscuits and gravy and oatmeal. All were excellent. Coffee was weak so so typical diner coffee. Highly recommend this diner. We grabbed the most giant cinnamon roll ever for tomorrow. It must be a local gem!

Fabulous green chili and the corned beef hash was delicious. Feels authentic and I want to go back. Many times.

1st went for breakfast 7/21, great food, worse service I have ever had in my life. Young waittress must have been 1st day on job. Took her 15 minutes to come over and offer coffee/water, then another 15-20 minutes to come over and take order, then in another 20 minutes came over to finally offer refills and realized had not put our order in! Another 15 minutes to get order, then sat at table with empty plates for another 15 minutes before finally bringing check over. Simple breakfast turned into about a 2 hour excursion. 2nd day 7/22 returned and got same waittress, considered leaving but thought we'd give her a 2nd chance. Was better, didn't forget our order this time, but still slow. Place was busy but not slammed, and on occassions would see her in back chatting with workmates as opposed to working her tables. Food was tasty, big portions, reasonably priced. Great coffee. I rate 3 stars as the food was really good and figure poor service was just based on just one employee.

We ate here twice. The first time it was good. My hash browns were cooked perfectly and my over-medium eggs were also cooked nice. So, of course when a friend came to visit, I thought this was the place to go for breakfast. We arrived and it was busy. We waited by the door for a while. That is fine, except when we got sat. We were seated on the far north wall. This time, because it was slow and closer to a window (?) I got a good look at the "cleanliness" of this place. The floor was gross. We actually put a piece of newspaper down before putting out purses down. It wasn't gross with spilled food from the day, it was dust and grime. It had clearly not been cleaned in a while. This killed it for me. After working in several restaurants as a server, if the staff slacks on parts you can see that should be cleaned, you can bet the kitchen reflects that. My friend ordered chicken strips and they obviously came frozen from a bag. Not good. My first review would have been 4 stars, now I struggle to give it 2. End of story:hit or miss on the food, strongly question the cleanliness, and I will not be back.

  • John H.

The wife and I came here because it was highly reviewed. I'm not sure if it was a off day for them or what. But once we got seated and our order taken, our waitress was nowhere to be found during our meal. In fact I had to track her down to get my check and she rolled her eyes at me... The meal was also meh, eggs tasted like powdered eggs.

  • Dan F.

The chicken fried steak or breakfast burritos are the ticket here. And you can eat in a train caboose to enhance that experience. Good service, fair prices and an excellent menu for breakfast. You can get it all right here while enjoying the unique atmosphere and local company. The bathroom on the caboose is tiny though, try not to get a table next to it.

    (5)
  • Becca R.

This was a pretty standard diner experience, but non-impressive. The history of the building is really interesting, but that was truly the highlight.

I have been meaning to write this review for quite some time now. My husband and I first started coming to the luxury diner back in September. We came because we had a Friday off of work and heard through the grapevine this was "THE" place in cheyenne. I will have to say I agree! The atmosphere is totally awesome, everyone is friendly as courteous! We have since then made this our every Friday morning breakfast stop. The food is nothing short of AMAZING. I have tried every breakfast item and I recommend them all! I currently love the Box Car with mushrooms and grits. I just can't get enough. This blows any chain restaurant out of the water. I can say we will never have breakfast at any other place in cheyenne! Keep it up Luxury Diner!!!

    (5)
  • Jocelyn T.

Huge portions of typical diner food. Very tasty stuff and daily specials. This is an extremely casual joint and is most always crowded. Nice change ups on the menu (compared to other Cheyenne breakfast places) such as the trout and eggs, German sausage, and homemade corned beef hash. Relatively clean place with friendly servers.

    (4)
  • Nicki J.

Best hangover breakfast in town! Small restaurant so on the weekends be prepared to wait. I promise it's worth it. Biscuits and gravy are to die for and the staff is so nice and attentive. Love the train car, and the inside is so quaint! If you are hungry and don't mind a wait look no farther!

If you look up "greasy spoon" in the dictionary, this place would be an ideal candidate for the example. In fact, I'm a little surprised that tool Guy Fieri hasn't shown up at this destination yet. The menu is pretty standard diner fare with one noticeable exception-- most of the stuff they use is not mass produced. The corned beef hash is made with real corned beef and potato and doesn't come from a can. The burgers are fresh beef not a frozen premade patty. The green chili is spicy and delicious. In other words, they aren't cutting corners here and the result is above average diner food. The environment is that of a country diner. The service is friendly with a hint of surliness. If I'm back in the area, I'll be back here.

Roadhouse burger with green chilies, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese. It's a heart attack, but worth the pain.

Visited during Frontier days, so was "busy", but the service was bad. No, actually it was abysmal. Well over an hour to get our food after waiting quite a while to order. Waitress was actively avoiding and/or ignoring us, never checked on a drink refill or to say "it's coming" in that time. Watched several other tables nearby turn over twice before getting our food. After all that, the food was average to poor. Overcooked chicken fried steak and a stale biscuit. After having to get up and chase down the waitress for a check, manager asked "how was it" and then got a blank stare and no interest from him too. Not one person in the place seemed to care about anything. It was SO bad, this is the first time I ever was driven to write a review on restaurant.

There is NOTHING more luxurious than having trout and eggs for breakfast! Paired with the 'luxury' potatoes, a biscuit, and extra lemon for the fish, the meal is downright delicious. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and a great location (minutes from the interstate) make the Luxury Diner one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Awesome and authentic joint with top--notch green chili breakfast burrito. They had the biggest cinnamon buns in the world. Service was super friendly and fast. I love Cheyenne!

Oh.MY.GOD.... possibly the best green chilli I've ever had, and I live in Southern California. Seriously I'm not kidding... it's the stick to your stomach, make you warm on a cold day, burns JUST right going down kind of chilli. Pair it with a sourdough grilled cheese sandwich and really you can't go wrong. Admittedly the diner is kind of kitschy and in a somewhat remote part of town... but this is probably the only place worth stopping for MILES. Do your self a favor and stop here... service was chill, the locals stared, but the food was great. Really that's all that matters.

Stopped in for breakfast with 3 others while passing through Cheyenne. We had the green chili burrito, veggy omelet, corn beef hash, and a short stack of pancakes. All we excellent and portions were hardy. One in the group is from Pueblo, CO and knows her green chili and she said it was one of the better green chili burritos she has had. I had the corn beef hash and it was homemade and very good, just the right seasoning and cooked to a nice crisp texture. The pancakes were fluffy and very good, we couldn't finish the pancakes or any of the plates. Lots of tasty food for the price. Highly recommend for breakfast.

SO gooood! Listen, if you go October or later a jacket seems to be mandatory - or maybe it was where we were seated. It's was pretty cold; poor insulation? But! The food was just delicious. I had the Water Tank - a lovely piece of fish with a wonderfully light crust. My husband had the Chicken Fried Steak (I don't remember the cute name) and said it was awesome! Too bad we were just driving through town. We'd be there all the time!

OK, one year later and now I'm driving back west on I-80. Just me and my faithful companion, the dog, moving back to Cali ("to cali, going back to cali -- I don't think so!") Stopped for breakfast this time. No wait -- sat down immediately at the bar. Nice waitress, very attentive. I got the breakfast burrito green chile thing, it was fantastic. Tons of good food, great price. Good coffee. Unnecessary but fantastic cinnamon roll that was -- I poop you not --- bigger than my hand. I ate that on the road. Definitely will plan to stop here on my next trip on I-80. You should too. Unless you don't like tons of great food for a good price from nice folks.

Stopped here in the middle of our honeymoon road trip a couple weeks ago. I'm a vegetarian, my husband is a meat-atarian. I kind of didn't expect Wyoming to be super accommodating to my dietary needs (my past experiences in rural/farming areas informed this opinion), but this cute little diner proved me wrong. Location may put you off, because it's not really downtown and there are anti-Meth posters hanging up on nearby buildings which seemed like a bad sign. But trust me, it's worth it and the staff and decor inside are just wonderful! And of course the food. It's in an old train car, which is awesome. They have lots of cool little kitschy decorations (the ladies bathroom is filled with Betty Boop memorabilia for example) and it's kind of a blast from the past. Our server was super cheerful and helped me figure out what I should order so as not to accidentally consume meat. She made recommendations, kept our coffee cups filled to the top at all times, and was super excited to hear we were on our honeymoon. I ended up having the Breakfast Burrito with Homemade Salsa and Fried Potatoes. It comes with a GIANT homemade biscuit. I don't know if I have ever had a tastier biscuit, and the salsa was the perfect blend of fresh and spicy. My husband had the Biker Burger and loved it. My part of the meal (including coffee) was less than $10 and it stands out as one of the highlights of the entire trip's food choices. As a bonus, our server volunteered to take a photo of us outside the diner! We took her up on it and she took her time trying to get the best shot and angle as the sun beat down. I honestly had not expected too much out of a pit stop in Wyoming, but Luxury Diner would be reason enough to go back all the way from Chicago. If you live nearby, LUCKY YOU! If you are just passing through, do not miss this treasure!

Stopped in for a late breakfast one Saturday morning. I stopped by the visitors center on I-25 and asked where I should eat if I want to get a taste of the local cuisine. I found it easy enough, located about two minutes off of I-25 at exit 9, right next to the Wyoming Motel, and right across the street from the Microtel. It's a seat yourself kinda place, and I found myself a place at the back of the boxcar. After perusing the menu, I couldn't decide between "the boxcar" and some of their green chile. So I ordered the boxcar WITH green chile. My food arrived quickly and I dug in. It was really, really tasty. I jumbled up the eggs, the ham, the cheese, and the hash browns along with the green chile and it was a delicious mess. Food was good and service was friendly. If I'm back in town, I will definitely stop back in for another bite to eat.

Delish! I was happy we stumbled on this spot yesterday during our 1st exploration of Wyoming (wyohmee)! Place is small and a bit cramped , not the best for babies but we had our bug there and we survived. They brought us a high chair that looked like it was from the 1970s-- pretty neat! As far as food goes, I had the biker burger which has grilled onion, Swiss cheese, bacon, and I got green chili which was totally delicious! Hubby had corn beef hash which was good but not my fav. But the burgie was sooo good ah mah gah! The fries it comes with are more like potato wedges and they were yummy as well. All in all, above avg diner food with an old school vibe.

This place is great! When we pulled into the parking lot (actually a side street) and had a moments hesitation as the outside of the diner is anything but luxurious. Don't let that stop you from going in! They consistently produce high quality home style food made from fresh ingredients. I had the Red and Green chilli burger and couldn't have been happier. Cooked to perfection and super flavorful. Thanks especially to Tiffany our superb server for taking the extra time to deal with a large group (even at the end of the day) and for giving us the cool Cheyenne history and Diner tour. I am an unreserved Luxury Diner fan! With out a doubt if I lived in Cheyenne it would be in my regular rotation.

I'm a city guy, and my ruler for a quick judgement of a city is if you can say the name of the city without the state and an average person would know where you're talking about. I think I found the exception that proves the rule in Cheyenne, though. Listen, I'm sure there's plenty of reasons people like the city, and there's lots of outdoorsy type stuff and horses and whatever, but when 80% of my research results in chain restaurant after chain restaurant, I could see that Cheyenne wasn't going to be my kind of place. So after four days of having fun in Fort Collins I was leaving Cheyenne for good, my opinion of Cheyenne solidified in my mind. But I needed breakfast before I left, and one of the places that did have more than three reviews on Yelp was Luxury Diner. Luckily for me they were open on Labor Day, and though it was quite crowded, I managed to get a table in the back of what I presume to be the original diner car. Diners are a classic piece of Americana, and it would make sense that Cheyenne would have an excellent place serving this kind of food - because it's simple and has remained relatively unchanged in the past eighty years. The Conductor was what I ordered. They claim it to be fresh corned beef and hash, but I'm not sure if it meant that the corning was done in house, or if it was just prepared freshly when I ordered it. I hope it would be the former, but I suspect it was the latter. Either way, it was pretty good, and added a good deal salt, which was beneficial as the eggs and potatoes were lacking it. It comes with your choice of eggs and either hashbrowns or "Luxury Potatoes," which are home fries cooked with onions, peppers, and dashed with paprika. I appreciated the idea, even if the lack of salt was a problem and I could have used some more crisp on them potatoes. Driving through the small downtown of Cheyenne, I thought that my initial reactions to Cheyenne may have been a little harsh, and perhaps the only city in Wyoming has a little something to offer after all. Just a little, though.

Holy Hell I loved this place. Not a lot of gluten free options, however, they work with you. I had an omelet and it was cooked to perfection. It seats only 68 people in the place and if you get there before the lines spill out the door you can sit where ever you like. Cool atmosphere and awesome staff.

I wish I could eat breakfast here every day! But I live 130 miles away. We could not decide on what to eat, as everything looked so good. We sat at the counter and watched all of the plates come out of the kitchen over the railroad rail. Their signature plates, we were told, are: The Conductor - Fresh Corned Beef Hash and eggs The Sante Fe - A big breakfast burrito The Caboose - An incredible chicken fried steak My girlfriend ordered The Sante Fe and I ordered The Conductor with a side bowl of Grits with cheese. Wow. Hard to think that is a great review, but that is how it was. Wow. Everything was a perfect diner delight. Large portions and very filling. My girlfriend said, "Wow! The decor is stunning." I think she made an excellent point. Lots of old collectibles, framed Marilyn Monroe pictures and railroad antiques keep your eyes wondering. The diner played classic rock, not too loud and the waitresses sung to the music as they refilled coffees and chatted with their customers. The dish boy even was having a good time, he wore headphones in his cramped area with a smile on his face doing the dirty work. Just a wonderful establishment for both food and nostalgia. 5 stars, 2 thumbs up and a treat.

The epitome of greasy spoon. I think the fact that I was starving made the food taste better, because while my first few bites were like OMG SO GOOD, after my blood sugar started to come back to normal levels I was like, Omg, so good, lower case. Biscuit was kind weird textured on the bottom. I expect food to come out crazy fast at a place like this, but maybe it felt longer given my state of hunger? Coffee is good, service is satisfactory: quick and perfunctory. With a line and crowds of hungry people to feed, efficiency is key. The potatoes made me really happy. They reminded me of how my dad makes them.

Met our out-of-town kids there for breakfast this morning. What a great time, great food and just flat up beat. The servers are always friendly and right there for you. I like eating in the original seating area (train car), worth the wait and never usually very long. I had my usual of 20 years, the small Santa Fe breakfast burrito, with their home made green chili and grits. You always get fresh chopped lettuce and tomatoes too. The others had Huevos Rancheros, and sausage eggs and pancake. We ate every bit and it was a make you happy meal. Ice tea is always fresh and their coffee is good! So many places I can't hack the coffee, theirs is great. Good, clean atmosphere, how can a train car not make you smile?

Great dive on the West side of Cheyenne. In an old Boxcar, but has expanded and has plenty of seating. I sat at the counter and chatted with the staff. I had the grilled ham and cheese with a side salad and a cup of bean and ham soup. Everyting was great and the service was excellent.

Whenever we go on a road trip, we usually head for the mountains for a family wilderness adventure or Denver for a couples date night. Rarely do we drive farther south than that, and never have we driven north or Fort Collins. I've never had the desire or need to venture up into Wyoming until this weekend - and no, it wasn't for Cheyenne Frontier Days. I needed to grab some camping and hiking gear on the cheap, and we're fortunate to be within driving distance of the Sierra Trading Post Warehouse and Outlet. So, we woke up and hit the road, planning to grab breakfast along the way. Usually, Yelp isn't as helpful as I'd like it to be, but when it came to trying to find a great breakfast spot in an unknown city - we weren't led astray. The reviews for the Luxury Diner actually made us go out of our way for some classic diner grub. After waiting for at least 30 minutes for a table (people were lined out the door), we quickly decided on our menu items and placed our order, knowing that the kitchen was slammed and it would take some time. The kids both wanted the Jr. Pancake with scrambled egg and bacon. The Husband ordered "The Caboose" - chicken fried steak with sausage, gravy, and two eggs over easy. I ordered "The Water Tank" - trout with an egg over easy. All meals came with toast and hash browns. While we waited for at least another 30 minutes for our breakfast under the glow of red neon lights, we played "I Spy" with the kids to keep them entertained and well-behaved. Of all places, this is THEE place to play "I Spy." There are antique knickknacks all over the walls, old fire trucks on shelves, and train memorabilia everywhere. It's exactly like an I Spy book. While the wait was on the line of unbearable, our server was one of the nicest we've ever had, completely living up to the claim of 'The Friendliest Place In Town," and making sure to keep our coffee mugs full. After many mugs of bottomless diner coffee, and bellies full of comfort food, we rolled ourselves out of the crowd to make room for the next group of people waiting in the never ending long line (that was then building for lunch). I don't foresee us making many trips back up to Cheyenne, but if we do, a stop at Luxury Diner is a must on our list of things to do.

Excellent place for breakfast. Don't let the looks fool you in fact, if you aren't looking for it you probably wouldn't see it. Will definitely eat there again if I am ever back in Cheyenne.

For greasy spoon real diners this rates five stars. We ate here only for breakfast and it certainly excels at that with no skimping on the fats and calories. It's a tiny place and always crowded. At times we've waited in line, and at times shared a table which was a pleasant experience. We've tried the pancakes, sausages, cinnamon rolls, etc.. All of it good and hardy breakfast. The decor is clearly not modern made to look old. It seems to be in two parts, one seems to be an old rail car and the other an attached small addition. With all the tables and people it's a dance to the back tables but well worth it. We've since moved from Cheyenne to Kansas City but I smile whenever I pull out my Luxury Diner coffee mug with the picture of the steam engine on it, and wish I were back there for more breakfast soon!

Great dive-y place in Cheyenne. Probably the best in it's class around these parts. I got The Caboose (corned beef hash), which was good, but I wish I had ordered what my husband got, The Conductor (chicken fried steak). It was the most delicious, flavorful chicken fried steak I had ever tasted. We were told that it was the best place to eat in Cheyenne by quite a few people. While I wouldn't go that far (I prefer Re-O-Na, 2 Doors Down or Sanford's), it is definitely the best for a dive joint to get a hearty breakfast or simple lunch. It has really friendly wait staff and is not too spendy either. Note: They're only open till 3 or 4pm.

One of my favorite places for breakfast. I love, love, love their French toast. You can get a 1/2 order too. Sliced almonds, syrup, powdered sugar.......doesn't get much better than that. Oooooooh and a side of crisp bacon!

I think there is either a new owner or new cook staff . . . that being said it USED to be great. The last three times I have been there it was mediocre at best. Things were not cooked the way they used to be and the food was kinda gross. I hope they just had some transition issues, and I will try it one more time.

So i judged this place by the looks at first and thought where in the heck are you taking me? BUT we walking in and they had interesting decor and this place had great food. We ate in the old train caboose. My husband said the biscuit and gravy was the best he ever had and he thought his biscuit n gravy was the best ever. You could tell they have regulars that come in often and chill with their coffee. Their staff great!!

I have eaten here many times in the past 15 years or so. A unique little diner atmosphere ( use to be a rail car ) with a more recent add-on small dining area. One tip, if you sit in the rail car area, avoid sitting clear in the back by the restroom door. Walking area is very narrow there and could possibly have bad odor. Sitting room in the rail car is pretty tight in general. The food use to be near gourmet quality. Over the past few years, food quality is down to average overall. Typical diner style coffee no fluffy lattes. Very delicious homemade style pie and cobbler to finish off with. Service is generally very prompt.

Established in 1926, this is a great little restaurant, especially for the train enthusiast (was a diner car I believe). Food is great, and the atmosphere is wonderful (I love train nostalgia) The place does get busy, so take that into consideration with their limited staff. Because of the food and atmosphere, that place gets busy. Give it a try! WATCH THE HOURS! Only open from 6 a.m. till 4 p.m.

And here I thought, "Hey! I'll for sure be the first to review!" Pfft, what a newb... But now, onto the goods! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Still trucking along from SF to NY, stopping for gas in good ol' Cheyenne (like I've ever been here before now), Erica and I pointed to different old but pretty amazing Cowboy & Indian signs for hotels citing "oooh, I'll stay there" and "oooooh, you can stay here!" I spotted this little ditty of a diner. At first we drove past it, looking for a more, shall we say, populated, establishment to grab a quick bite post fillup... to no avail. Therefore we of course said "just do it". Walking towards the door, I saw in the window dolls made of Budweiser cans... DING DING DING DING! This place is already in my winners circle. A handful of locals were dining at the bar overlooking the kitchen, and a few tables were scattered with folks eating breakfast & lunch dishes. We, of course, looking quite out of place, took a seat near the back. I ordered coffee, drank the coffee. Got more coffee. Overheard someone ordering a sweet tea. "REAL Sweet Tea??" I hesitantly asked the waitress. "Yeah, why, you want some?" she said. Duh, I thought as my heart fluttered and my mind started journeying into blissful territory. She brought me over a glass and voila! My 3 year stint of dining at restaurants sans this southern delicacy was over! For food I selected a cheeseburger (their patties are homemade). It came out with this fresh-toasted buttered bun, that seemed as though it had been baked that day in house, with seasoned fries and little cup o' slaw. I finished every bite. It was, to say the least, deliciously delish. Got the check. I could have paid with change it was so cheap. She hadn't even charged me for my Better Homes & Gardens Tour of their Beverage Selection. Thank you Luxury Diner. You made me heart Wyoming.

Loved the green chili! We ordered a side after having one mistakenly brought to our table and wow am I glad we did. It was some of the best I've had, including many samples in New Mexico. I ordered the corned beef hash after reading reviews here. It was good, and only improved with the addition of green chili. Good coffee, nice and hot. Pancakes for kids come with about five four-inch pancakes. They are cute. Tons of locals and a handful of travelers like us. Be prepared to be called "hon" by the waitresses. Did not try the pie or cobbler offerings. I bet they are good though.

Located in the .....2/3 sketchy part of Cheyenne, just west of downtown; this little location served up a goodly (I got that word from Daffy Duck...You know the episode where he blows himself up on stage?) portion of the breakfast special that day (I honestly can't remember what I ordered, but I remember thinking how I was going to review every restaurant I went to during my driving trip to Nebraska...Why am I telling you all of this?). My buddy was with me, and he wasn't too impressed with their corned beef (home made) hash, but I was happy with the meal. I know it was something akin to a breakfast scramble; and they didn't hold back on any of the ingredients. I was barely able to finish my hash browns, when the waitress came over and poured my 3rd cup of coffee. The service was friendly, the location was a bit off the beaten path; but then again, it's Cheyenne, Wyoming...Not exactly a subject-city for a 2-hour special on COPS, and the service was quick, and friendly. Sure, go there if you want a unique meal, and not something you can roll up to in your home town.

So cute! And OMG- the food! I had the Santa Fe, the guys had the meatloaf special and the kids had potato soup and pancakes. Then- even though we were stuffed- we had dessert. Peach cobbler and bread pudding, both were amazing!

The diner is an old Boxcar that has been added on to since it's original placement there. It's a neat little piece of history, but the real reason to go is the food - worthy of a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives trip. The corned beef hash is made fresh and is fantastic. Most of our party had burgers and everyone loved them; real mouth-stretchers. Even the big thick fries they served are unique to them and delicious. The green chili is excellent - the perfect amount of heat. When I'm in Cheyenne again I'll certainly be back.

Every thing you look for in a diner and more. The food is fresh and delish. My fave is the homemade corned beef hash, best I have ever had. The staff is friendly and the owner greets you at the door and usually seats you. The atmosphere is nice with rail road stuff all around. A must if you are in Cheyenne.

This is a divey diner with diner cooking. We had the pork chop dinner. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were half fresh and half instant The gravy had a lot to be desired. However, for the type of place it was reasonable in taste and atmosphere. I wish i would have had the burger. The people beside us had a burger and it looked like a homemade bun and was huge and juicy. So if you are in for some comfort food - I could recommend this place.

This is the kind of place I look for in a diner. A great place to go on a regular basis. The food is as good as any diner I have been to. Maybe better that a lot of them. I frequent this place for Saturday morning breakfast. Lots of locals here and the owner is almost always there. Friendly staff and good food at a normal price. what else can you ask for. The main dining room is an old luxury rail car, the place is covered in rail road memorabilia. They do have a cinnamon roll that is as big as a dinner plate ( if that is what you want this is the place). The Saturday special, usually is steak and eggs. That is my favorite, but every thing I have had is good.

The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the lack of Coca-Cola. I had bean soup ( very tasty), meatloaf w mashed potatoes n veggies, peach cobbler (home made), all delicious, $8.50. The old train car and the classic rock, at a reasonable decibel, made it perfect.

We had a very tasty breakfast here. Coffee is quite good. Potatoes top-notch. Homemade corned beef hash hit the spot. Service was friendly and effective. The two of us sat at a table for 6, which we ended up sharing with a couple who had lived in Cheyenne for their adult lives. We had a very nice conversation. The plate-sized cinnamon rolls get high marks, too!

Great food and prices. Wonderful place to get a great breakfast. If lunch is your option, try the green chili. It is a staple of the mountain west, pork green chili is hard to make correct and they do a wonderful job of it.

Good quality food! Great wait staff, slow-ish kitchen... But totally excused because it was cheyenne frontier days. If in cheyenne again I will return, and would recommend. Everyone was very friendly, polite, and accommodating while their town was over run by visitors.

If you are ever in Cheyenne, WY (and I hope you aren't very long), then this is the place you have to eat at. I-80 is a pretty bad stretch of fast foods. Stopping at a gas station in WY, some travellers asked the gas station attendants where to eat, which they replied "we don't like taco bell, we don't like mcdonalds, i would try that diner called...." this diner was not the luxury diner, but that was a headsup already about the food quality in those parts of the u.s. the corned beef and hash was truly, hands down, the best corned beef and hash i have ever eaten. It had incredible flavor and with real chunks of shredded meat! It's not all overly processed like it came out of a can, resembling catfood more so than human food. The service was great and the biscuits were hot, fluffy, and perfect with the butter and honey sides they give you. This was the best food my girlfriend and I had since we had left Oakland, CA en route to Michigan. If you're travelling across country, you have to make this a stop. Also, we bought a souvenier coffee mug from the place...super FRESH!

This place was crowded and extreamly unorganized. Do not come here with a party or 5 or more because they don't have room for you. Although there was plenty of food and it tasted good, I won't be coming here again.

Lunched at LD based on previous reviews and were not disappointed. Steve's Chk Fried Steak was awesome as others suggested.... but the winner is the Green Chili! It smothered my huevos rancheros and I slurped up every bite. Our waitress was so friendly and very pleased that we found the diner on Yelp with good reviews. BTW, although the diner is filled with train memorabilia, the main room was actually a horse drawn trolley. Very cool place.

Ate there today on our drive back to the east coast, so yummy! I had the chicken burrito & my boyfriend had the huevos rancheros. Both meals were so delicious! Our server was incredibly friendly & food was fast! Reasonably priced & huge portions! Will be back on our next trip on 80.

I've been going to the Luxury Diner for several years now as I go to the rodeo in Cheyenne almost every July. The food is wonderful. Chicken Fried steak is my favorite but I also like the breakfast burrito. Sometimes you have to wait for a table but it is worth it. The service is fast, the coffee is hot, the prices are reasonable and the food is wonderful.

Don't let the location or the ambiance of the building fool you - This is a great breakfast! Like everything else in Cheyenne, the pace is slow, but it is worth it. Servers are friendly, food is abundant and really good. The pork green chili on the Santa Fe breakfast is worth the trip.

Extremely over rated. Ate there around lunch time and waited over an hour for my food to arrive. No one apologized or made any effort to make the experience better. When the food arrived it was just O.K. Nothing outstanding. Bought a cinnamon roll on the way out. Worst dessert I've ever ordered anywhere! Hard as a rock and completely tasteless. Riding in a car of five people and still had to throw 80% away because no one could stomach it.

I wrote my first review of the Lux 2 years ago and haven't changed my mind at all. But I need to update it. They serve the best breakfast and hamburgers in Cheyenne. The green chile is awesome. I think it's the only place in town you can get grits. Sometimes you have to wait, and I've seen people walk away because they can't stand to wait for 10-20 minutes. Trust me .... it's worth the wait no matter how long it takes! The music varies and you often can't hear it .... my favorite is when they tune into the 50s rock and roll. If you're alone or just a few people and think there are no seats, ask about the community table. You never know who you'll meet .. it ranges from retired Air Force colonels to railroad engineers. And again, the food is awesome! Open only for breakfast and lunch (til 4, I think, or maybe 2).

Great service, awesome comfort food! Homemade hamburger buns to boot. Where else can you get your beef burger smothered with pork chili?
