This place is always busy, be prepared to wait. I have never been here when there weren't people waiting to get in. Order your shake early or it will be a while till you get it. Nice staff and fun decor. Food is diner style and tastes good.

Stopped on our way from Jackson Hole to Mount Rushmore and had lunch. Good spot...had club sandwich which was great and kids LOVED the chicken fingers and milkshakes.

I go this diner at least once a week for breakfast, as the service is quick and food is good. I am a regular such that many of servers know me by name. I really love the biscuits and gravy there, as well as the waffle combo. I also often get the 2-2-2, but most times don't come close to finishing it, as the pancakes are bigger than my head almost. In addition to the breakfast items I also like the burgers, broasted chicken, and chicken fried steak. Last, but not least their peach pie is very tasty and the BOGO milkshakes during the Summer on Tuesday nights are great.

The staff is amazing sweet and attentive... the cherry coke was great and the vanilla shake was amazing. The burger tasted homemade.

A good start, but a miserable finish to this meal. This was a random stop before a long drive to another city in Wyoming. The pot roast was raved about by the waitress/salesperson and that is usually a safe choice at a diner. The meat did not look like pot roast, but the first four strips were tender and very tasty and semi melt in mouth. The last two big pieces of meat though were inedible, fatty, tough and downright "how could you put that on a plate and serve it" The mashed potatoes were lumpy in a bad sort of way and the carrots and celery that came with the dish did not seem to have been cooked with that pot roast. The vanilla coke had no vanilla taste and ya know this diner food is probably good enough for the boring people of Casper's palette's, but anybody from the other 49 states should keep on driving past this divey diner.

I just had the best Egg's Benedict in my life here.. Finally after 42 Yrs I have finally found a place that knows how to poach a damn egg!!

Awesome home baked pies of all sorts. Fresh hot coffee. Lot of great 60's menu items. Just stopped in for some Apple pie ala mode and some coffee after driving from Colorado Springs. Heated pie, cold ice cream, hot and fresh coffee. Ahhh!!!! Music is playing from the 60's, people enjoying their burgers, fries, Nathan dogs, pies, Elvis burger, shakes and malts galore, etc. Wow! Wish I had more room to eat more. Had to take some Strawberry Rhubarb pie back to the hotel for my wife. We'll stop in on the way back from Montana. Yikes!!! Love it. Life is good.

Loved every bite. I could have eaten two burgers if my stomach was bigger. Very cute environment made my husband teary eyed, missing Grandpa.

You earned it the chicken fried steak was bomb. Bomb is great. This was a great surprise thanks yelp community I'm here for the day from billings. The green beans I don't do healthy I got a extra dish man that was beyond good. Then pie time had the peach. Tasted like a fresh picked not sweet it was fantastic. The crust super flakey. . Pie lady adopt me please ... manager she was great came over and made us feel like she knew is forever she id's a class act. Oh yeah real freaking mashed tatters. Casper your so lucky. If you don't like this place move so those of us who know quality can move in

This place was off the chart delicious! I'm giving it 4 stars because it took forever to get our food. We had hamburgers that satisfied my craving for meat, french fries were good and the onion rings were good as well. The milkshakes were fantastic!!! Too bad we don't have a Johnny J's Diner here, I would kick In N Out to the curb and get all my burgers/shakes from Johnny J's Diner! The hour wait or longer for our food was just frustrating.

Johnny J's is a cutesy, kitschy 50's style diner that feels very chain-like. Living on Route 66 as we do, it seemed kind of silly to be so far away from Route 66 and see the decor and signs all over the place, but that was fine...just funny! After a day at the Badlands, we were ready for some dinner and stopped here. While the friendly and upbeat atmosphere was great, the food didn't really wow my husband or me. He had a fish and chips dinner that was just okay, and my chili cheese fries reminded me of a fast food item or maybe something from the bowling alley - that orange liquidy cheese, although the chili was good and the fries were again, just okay. Honestly everything tasted decent -- but not great in any remarkable way. The one shining star of our experience was the rum raisin bread pudding, which was absolutely divine and under four bucks, too. I highly recommend getting dessert at Johnny J's based on our experience! If we hadn't shared the fabulous bread pudding I would easily give this place just 3 stars.

I have had five star experiences and one star experiences here. When it is good it is great. One time we had to wait an hour only to find out they forgot to turn my order in. They have a great Philly sandwich!

Got the spaghetti and meatballs, and it was delicious! Service was great and the place is decorated like a 50s diner. Had peach pie a la mode. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Visiting from Boston and so glad we found this place!

Great food, great service, but the floors- too much to handle. They're always slippery with soap or grease, I'm not sure.

  • Tyler A.

I really like to eat here. They are friendly, and the prices are pretty fair. Sometimes they get really busy and are a little slow , but it's understandable when they are packed full of people. My favorite is the Cheeseburger Deluxe. Nothing fancy, just a great burger. You can't go wrong here!!

  • Wendy D.

Went there with my daughter and took 45 minutes to get our breakfast order and the place was not that busy... my food was cold and my daughter omelette was filled with raw egg. The waitress wasn'y very helpful and i didn't want the food replaced after a while i got the bill comp'd and was out of there.

It was ok, not great and not bad. I read a review on here about home made pies. I had one, it was a cream pie. It was ok, but the cream was like frosting...not what I call home made. The burgers and fries are nothing special. And the price is about $10- or 12 for a burger, fries and a drink...like I said, ok but not great. The staff seems to be real nice. I did have a good server.

Traveling on business and had a layover in Casper. I checked the reviews and it sounded good. It was great. Very friendly staff and my waitress Bianca was fantastic. I hope all the servers are like her. The restaurant was clean and they closed off one part of the restaurant to pull out the booths to clean them from top to bottom. My burger was good and I loved the beer battered onion rings. I even made room for a carmel sundae that was delicious. If I ever come to Casper, Wy again I will eat here.

Great experience! Food was great, prices were great, and portions were very diner-style big. Dessert was delicious. Server was very polite and attentive. This is typical Americana diner food, nothing more, nothing less. But it happens that I was looking for just that tonight and I got it. If you're looking for something inspired or against the grain so to speak, hit up a different place. Pros: Cheap, great service, good comfort food. Cons: The lime soda was a lime syrup, I was expecting real lime. Overall, great!!

Food is pretty good, I mean it's a diner. Service SUCKS

Johnny J's is the place to go if you are hungry in Casper and want a home cooked tasting meal. Anything prepared by Freda is going to taste delicious. Apple pie's are homemade with nice flavoring and texture and great crust. I ordered the meatloaf and it was great. Really tasty diner food.

Not a fancy but fun and highly recommended as a family place to eat

The food was great and the prices were great as well. The people have always been very attentive and nice. The selection is slightly different then most traditional diners, but the milkshakes are to die for.

We were on our way to a family reunion in Idaho. We stopped in Casper for the night and found this great little diner. I cannot remember the name of the burger I had but it was an open faced burger with Green Chili. OMG it was awesome. The service was great and the atmosphere was also good. I can honestly say I am glad I do not live near Casper as I would be eating at this place too often to be good for my health!!!!

  • Brett P.

We ate there for lunch on a Sunday and service was very slow. The food was also mediocre, my chicken sandwich was tougher than I'd prefer. Perhaps their breakfast items are better, but as far as lunch, you can do better than this.

  • Hunter B.

Went to this place for breakfast with my son and should have known something was up when we got seated right away and Eggingtons had a crowd waiting for seats. Absolutely the worst eggs Benedict I've ever had in my life. The English muffin was cold, the Canadian bacon was tougher than most shoe soles I own and the poached egg was hard as a rock. The hollandaise sauce was maybe a teaspoon full on each one. They should remove this from the menu after screwing it up as bad as they did, or maybe went to Ihop or Eggingtons to find out what eggs Benedict is really about. I didn't think it could get any worse and then the fried potatoes that I ordered instead of hash browns showed up crisp on the outside and raw on the inside, not good. Mick D's would have been a better breakfast than this place.

I love the decor of this 50's style diner! The food is great and there are lots of dessert choices. Some of my favorite's on the menu are the chili, cheeseburger, and chicken fried steak. I tried the peanut butter pie but was not a fan because of the bitter taste. The service is good and the place is clean. It is a good place to bring a family or a group of people because there is something on the menu for everyone. The prices are inexpensive too. I haven't tried their breakfast yet but will be back soon to have a taste.

  • Wendy D.

I have eaten there many times. It is usually very good though a couple of times it has been just okay. The burgers are usually good and the lunch/dinner specials are a value.....what I really love to go for is dessert! There malts are fantastic, the pies are out of this world and the cinnamon buns are another family favorite.

A- OK is right! Johnny Js is situated on the site of a former Granny's Diner and I must say it is an average place. It serves like its predecessor burgers and fries. It has been awhile since I have been there so things may have changed but I remember it being simply ok. It isn't horrible yet it isn't inspired either.

We were driving back from northern Wyoming to Denver and stopped in Casper and came across this place. Very impressed. Great atmosphere, clean and great service for starters...and the food was excellent...HUGE pancakes, very good sausage, and a great skillet plate between the two of us. Nice find...and if we are ever back in Casper, we would definitely eat here again.

Exactly what one would expect from a cool looking retro diner. It has a simple menu and various flavor shots for your soda pop. One location in the center of town on second street, and one coming soon on the west side on Wyoming Blvd.

  • E A.

The menu is typical of what you'd expect at a diner. The food was ok. I had a BLT and wasn't overly impressed, but wasn't disappointed. I also had a chocolate coke which was great. It hit the spot. The diner is new and clean. The service was very helpful and friendly. Overally, I'd recommend eating here.
