Found this place by accident and so glad we did! Excellent barbecue on toasted rolls. Large portion for just $7.95! If our soccer team brings us this way again this will be a "must stop".

This week, my staff and I had lunch and hosted a town hall meeting with local residents at Smokey Rays, and we were certainly not disappointed. The staff was very hospitable, and the setting was just right for our group discussion. I also can't forget to mention that Smokey Rays offer some of the best BBQ you'll ever have. Thanks to everyone at Smokey Rays for your wonderful food and service. We look forward to returning to this establishment next time we are in Philippi.

Great place! The pulled pork is very tender, the sauce perfectly seasoned (smoky, a little spicy, thick instead of watery crap you sometimes find). The sides and bread are delicious; everything is fresh from scratch. Very friendly service. Definitely the best place to grab dinner in town - a true Southern BBQ classic.

I really can't stress how great this place is. I've had the brisket, the pulled pork, the chicken, and the sausage multiple times and every time it has been knockout awesome. The sauce is thick, smokey, and perfectly spicy. The sides are perfect (I personally suggest the Mac and Cheese, and the Potato salad). Their rolls and cornbread are also killer! Don't miss out on this place, it's the best barbecue in the area!

Some of the best BBQ i've had. My wife and I stopped in here on a road trip and what a great surprise. This place was phenomenal. I ordered the brisket, she had the pork, both were great. Mac N Cheese was perfect, corn bread even better (we actually ordered about 12 pieces to go!) Definately the place to go in Phillippi!

I really want to love this place, but I can't. I've tried a lot of things off the menu hoping I will finally find something that I like-it hasn't happened. The brisket-tough =/ The cheesesteak-everything on it was good EXCEPT the steak. which wasn't even sliced thin like a proper cheesesteak should. I picked all the meat off and ate the bun and cheese.. The fettuccine alfredo with chicken-the chicken was tough. The meatball sub-I didn't even like THIS. For a place that calls itself BBQ, they sure need to practice a little more on getting tender meat. I don't even like their french fries...They are always soaked with grease and soggy. I've given them many chances, but I refuse to spend any more money here when I can find a place in town with much better food. Do yourself a favor and get some knockout Chinese food right across the street.
